וַיֵּאָסְפוּ בְּנֵי הַמְשֹֽׁרְרִים וּמִן-הַכִּכָּר סְבִיבוֹת יְרֽוּשָׁלִַם וּמִן-חַצְרֵי נְטֹֽפָתִֽי׃
And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;
אִם-עַל-הַמֶּלֶךְ טוֹב יִכָּתֵב לְאַבְּדָם וַֽעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים כִּכַּר-כֶּסֶף אֶשְׁקוֹל עַל-יְדֵי עֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה לְהָבִיא אֶל-גִּנְזֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.
הֵן יַעֲשֹׁק נָהָר לֹא יַחְפּוֹז יִבְטַח׀ כִּֽי-יָגִיחַ יַרְדֵּן אֶל-פִּֽיהוּ׃
Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
אֱֽלֹהַי עָלַי נַפְשִׁי תִשְׁתּוֹחָח עַל-כֵּן אֶזְכָּרְךָ מֵאֶרֶץ יַרְדֵּן וְחֶרְמוֹנִים מֵהַר מִצְעָֽר׃
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
הַיָּם רָאָה וַיָּנֹס הַיַּרְדֵּן יִסֹּב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
מַה-לְּךָ הַיָּם כִּי תָנוּס הַיַּרְדֵּן תִּסֹּב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
כִּי בְעַד-אִשָּׁה זוֹנָה עַֽד-כִּכַּר לָחֶם וְאֵשֶׁת אִישׁ נֶפֶשׁ יְקָרָה תָצֽוּד׃
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
כִּי לֹא מוּעָף לַאֲשֶׁר מוּצָק לָהּ כָּעֵת הָרִאשׁוֹן הֵקַל אַרְצָה זְבֻלוּן וְאַרְצָה נַפְתָּלִי וְהָאַחֲרוֹן הִכְבִּיד דֶּרֶךְ הַיָּם עֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן גְּלִיל הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
כִּי אֶת-רַגְלִים׀ רַצְתָּה וַיַּלְאוּךָ וְאֵיךְ תְּתַֽחֲרֶה אֶת-הַסּוּסִים וּבְאֶרֶץ שָׁלוֹם אַתָּה בוֹטֵחַ וְאֵיךְ תַּעֲשֶׂה בִּגְאוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?
וַיְצַוֶּה הַמֶּלֶךְ צִדְקִיָּהוּ וַיַּפְקִדוּ אֶֽת-יִרְמְיָהוּ בַּחֲצַר הַמַּטָּרָה וְנָתֹן לוֹ כִכַּר-לֶחֶם לַיּוֹם מִחוּץ הָאֹפִים עַד-תֹּם כָּל-הַלֶּחֶם מִן-הָעִיר וַיֵּשֶׁב יִרְמְיָהוּ בַּחֲצַר הַמַּטָּרָֽה׃
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
הִנֵּה כְּאַרְיֵה יַעֲלֶה מִגְּאוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּן אֶל-נְוֵה אֵיתָן כִּֽי-אַרְגִּיעָה אֲרִיצֶנּוּ מֵֽעָלֶיהָ וּמִי בָחוּר אֵלֶיהָ אֶפְקֹד כִּי מִי כָמוֹנִי וּמִי יֹעִידֶנִּי וּמִי-זֶה רֹעֶה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲמֹד לְפָנָֽי׃
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the habitation of the strong: but I will suddenly make him run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint time? me the and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
הִנֵּה כְּאַרְיֵה יַעֲלֶה מִגְּאוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּן אֶל-נְוֵה אֵיתָן כִּֽי-אַרְגִּעָה (ארוצם) אֲרִיצֵם מֵֽעָלֶיהָ וּמִי בָחוּר אֵלֶיהָ אֶפְקֹד כִּי מִי כָמוֹנִי וּמִי יוֹעִדֶנִּי וּמִֽי-זֶה רֹעֶה אֲשֶׁר יַעֲמֹד לְפָנָֽי׃
Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?
וּפְאַת קָדִים מִבֵּין חַוְרָן וּמִבֵּין-דַּמֶּשֶׂק וּמִבֵּין הַגִּלְעָד וּמִבֵּין אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל הַיַּרְדֵּן מִגְּבוּל עַל-הַיָּם הַקַּדְמוֹנִי תָּמֹדּוּ וְאֵת פְּאַת קָדִֽימָה׃
And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.
וְהִנֵּה כִּכַּר עֹפֶרֶת נִשֵּׂאת וְזֹאת אִשָּׁה אַחַת יוֹשֶׁבֶת בְּתוֹךְ הָאֵיפָֽה׃
And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.
קוֹל יִֽלְלַת הָרֹעִים כִּי שֻׁדְּדָה אַדַּרְתָּם קוֹל שַׁאֲגַת כְּפִירִים כִּי שֻׁדַּד גְּאוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃
There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.
