2. dwelling, habitation; Ps 91:10 לְאֹהָלֶ֑ךָ home (literally to thy tents, plural) Judg 19:9 (after הלך); ׳א בֵּיתִי habitation of my house Ps 132:3 compare Dan 11:45 דוד ׳א habitation or palace of David where throne erected Isa 16:5 בַת צִיּוֺן ׳א h. of daughter of Zion (= Jerusalem) Lam 2:4 אָהֲלֵי יַעֲקֹב Jer 30:18; Mal 2:12 (|| מִשְׁכָּן); יְהוּדָה ׳א Zech 12:7 (|| בית דוד); רְשָׁעִים ׳א h. of wicked Job 8:22, compare רֶשַׁע ׳א Ps 84:11, יְשָׁרִים ׳א Prov 14:11 שֹׁחַד ׳א Job 15:34 צַדִּיקִים ׳א Ps 118:15 אֱדוֺם ׳א = Edom itself, Ps 83:7 compare קְדָר ׳א Ps 120:5 כוּשָׁן ׳א Hab 3:7.

3. the sacred tent used in worship of God; הָאֹהֶל the tent; מוֺעֵד ׳א tent of meeting of God with his people (tent of congregation or assembly Ges MV and others) According to E Moses so called the tent which he used to pitch without the camp, afar off, into which he used to enter, & where God spake with him face to face, Exod 33:7-11; Num 12:5; Num 12:10; Deut 31:14; Deut 31:15 J seems to have same conception of an ׳מ ׳א outside the camp, Num 11:24; Num 11:26 D has no allusion to such a tent; P mentions it 131 t. as ׳מ ׳א; 19 t. as הָאֹהֶל (compare Ezek 41:1) & הָעֵדוּת ׳א, tent of the testimony Num 9:15; Num 17:22; Num 17:23; Num 18:2 (as containing ark & tables of the testimony) compare 2Chr 24:6 this tent sometimes confounded with the מִשְׁכָּן but distinguished in ׳מ ׳מִשְׁכַּן א Exod 39:32; Exod 40:2; Exod 40:6; Exod 40:29, compare 1Chr 6:17 הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְהָאֹהֶל Num 3:25 אֶתהַֿמִּשְׁכָּן וְאֶתאָֿהֳלוֺ Exod 35:11 tent was of three layers of skins, goatskins, ramskins, & tachash skins, each layer of eleven pieces stretched in form of a tent, covering & protecting the מִשְׁכָּן, which was in form of parallelopip. (Exod 26). An אֹהֶל מוֺעֵד was at Shilo 1Sam 2:22 (omitted ᵐ5; see Dr) compare Ps 78:60, called יוֺסֵף ׳א vPs 78:67. The Mosaic ׳מ ׳א was later at Gibeon 2Chr 1:3; 2Chr 1:6; 2Chr 1:13 courses of ministry arranged for service at ׳מ ׳א 1Chr 6:17; 1Chr 23:32 compare 1Chr 9:19 (׳הָא), v1Chr 9:21 v1Chr 9:23 (׳בֵּית הָא); David erected an אֹהֶל for ark on Mt. Zion 2Sam 6:17; 1Chr 15:1; 1Chr 16:1; 2Chr 1:4 Joab fled for refuge to יהוה ׳א 1Kgs 2:28-30 sacred oil brought from ׳הָא 1Kgs 1:39 the מוֺעֵד ׳א was taken up into temple 1Kgs 8:4 = 2Chr 5:5 ׳י had not previously dwelt in a בַּיִת, but had gone מֵאֹהֶל אֶלאֹֿהֶל from tent to tent, from one to another, 1Chr 17:5, compare 2Sam 7:6 יהוה ׳א (|| בַּיִת & הַר קֹדֶשׁ) is refuge & dwelling-place of righteous, Ps 15:1; Ps 27:5; Ps 27:6; Ps 61:5 (compare Ps 90:1).

2. ׳ח combined with עשׂר, עשׂרה ten = fifteen:
  a. חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה (c. noun feminine) Gen 5:10; Gen 7:20; Exod 27:14; Exod 27:15; Exod 38:14; Exod 38:15; 2Kgs 14:17; 2Kgs 14:23; 2Kgs 20:6; 2Chr 15:10; 2Chr 25:25; Isa 38:5.
  b. חֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר (c. noun masculine), (1) after noun Esth 9:21 (2) before noun Exod 16:1 ( = ordinal fifteenth, so Lev 23:6 +) Hos 3:2 +.
  c. חֲמֵשֶׁת עָשָׂר before noun 2Sam 19:18 +.
  d. חֲמֵשֶׁת עָשָׂר, without noun = ordinal fifteenth 1Chr 24:14 + 4 t. + Ezek 45:12 (read חֲמִשִּׁים A Hi Co).

3. חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֺת = 500 Gen 5:30; Gen 5:32 + 49 t. + Ezek 42:16 Qr.

4. חֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִים = 5000 Num 31:32; Josh 8:12; Judg 20:45; 1Sam 17:5; Ezek 45:6; Ezek 48:15; 1Chr 29:7; 2Chr 35:9; Ezra 1:11; Ezra 2:69 — in 25,000, 35,000 etc. חֲמִשָּׁה (usually without ׳א) precedes the 20,000, 30,000, etc.

5. with other numerals:
  a. חָמֵשׁ before larger numeral: (1) noun repeated Gen 5:6 + 4 t.; (2) noun with 2nd number only, Gen 5:17 + 8 t. + Ezek 45:3 Kt; (3) noun with בְּ with 2nd number Ezek 40:21 + 2 t.
  b. חָמֵשׁ after larger number: (1) noun repeated Gen 25:7 (2) noun following ׳ח (only) Judg 14:10 + (especially in expressions of age and duration); (3) noun before both numbers, stative absolute, 2Chr 3:15 stative construct 2Chr 15:19.
  c. no noun expressed, ׳ח between other number, e.g. ושׁבעים ׳שֵׁשׁ מאות ח Num 31:37.
  d. חֲמִשָּׁה before larger number, noun following larger number Num 1:25 + 22 t.
  e. ׳ח follows, and (1) is followed by noun Judg 20:35 + 7 t.; (2) noun precedes both 1Kgs 7:3; Jer 52:30. feminine ׳ח precedes, no noun expressed 1Kgs 5:12.
