שָׁלַח לִפְנֵיהֶם אִישׁ לְעֶבֶד נִמְכַּר יוֹסֵֽף׃
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:
כִּֽי-תַעֲבֹר בַּמַּיִם אִתְּךָ-אָנִי וּבַנְּהָרוֹת לֹא יִשְׁטְפוּךָ כִּֽי-תֵלֵךְ בְּמוֹ-אֵשׁ לֹא תִכָּוֶה וְלֶהָבָה לֹא תִבְעַר-בָּֽךְ׃
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
אַל-תִּירָא כִּי עִמְּךָ-אָנִי אַל-תִּשְׁתָּע כִּֽי-אֲנִי אֱלֹהֶיךָ אִמַּצְתִּיךָ אַף-עֲזַרְתִּיךָ אַף-תְּמַכְתִּיךָ בִּימִין צִדְקִֽי׃
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
וַיֹּאמֶר יוֹסֵף אֶל-אֶחָיו גְּשׁוּ-נָא אֵלַי וַיִּגָּשׁוּ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲנִי יוֹסֵף אֲחִיכֶם אֲשֶׁר-מְכַרְתֶּם אֹתִי מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃
And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתוֹ מֵֽרָחֹק וּבְטֶרֶם יִקְרַב אֲלֵיהֶם וַיִּֽתְנַכְּלוּ אֹתוֹ לַֽהֲמִיתֽוֹ׃
And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
וַיְהִי יְהוָה אֶת-יוֹסֵף וַיֵּט אֵלָיו חָסֶד וַיִּתֵּן חִנּוֹ בְּעֵינֵי שַׂר בֵּית-הַסֹּֽהַר׃
But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
וַיְהִי מֵאָז הִפְקִיד אֹתוֹ בְּבֵיתוֹ וְעַל כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ-לוֹ וַיְבָרֶךְ יְהוָה אֶת-בֵּית הַמִּצְרִי בִּגְלַל יוֹסֵף וַיְהִי בִּרְכַּת יְהוָה בְּכָל-אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ-לוֹ בַּבַּיִת וּבַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
וַֽיְמָרֲרֻהוּ וָרֹבּוּ וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֻהוּ בַּֽעֲלֵי חִצִּֽים׃
The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
וַיִּרְאוּ אֶחָיו כִּֽי-אֹתוֹ אָהַב אֲבִיהֶם מִכָּל-אֶחָיו וַֽיִּשְׂנְאוּ אֹתוֹ וְלֹא יָֽכְלוּ דַּבְּרוֹ לְשָׁלֹֽם׃
And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
וַיִּרְאוּ אֲחֵֽי-יוֹסֵף כִּי-מֵת אֲבִיהֶם וַיֹּאמְרוּ לוּ יִשְׂטְמֵנוּ יוֹסֵף וְהָשֵׁב יָשִׁיב לָנוּ אֵת כָּל-הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר גָּמַלְנוּ אֹתֽוֹ׃
And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.
