And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
καὶ ὅτι ἀπὸ βρέφους τὰ ἱερὰ γράμματα οἶδας τὰ δυνάμενά σε σοφίσαι εἰς σωτηρίαν διὰ πίστεως τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make wise thee unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
יַסֵּר בִּנְךָ וִֽינִיחֶךָ וְיִתֵּן מַעֲדַנִּים לְנַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
אַל-תִּמְנַע מִנַּעַר מוּסָר כִּֽי-תַכֶּנּוּ בַשֵּׁבֶט לֹא יָמֽוּת׃
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
שִׁמְעוּ בָנִים מוּסַר אָב וְהַקְשִׁיבוּ לָדַעַת בִּינָֽה׃
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
רַק הִשָּׁמֶר לְךָ וּשְׁמֹר נַפְשְׁךָ מְאֹד פֶּן-תִּשְׁכַּח אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר-רָאוּ עֵינֶיךָ וּפֶן-יָסוּרוּ מִלְּבָבְךָ כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ וְהֽוֹדַעְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְלִבְנֵי בָנֶֽיךָ׃
Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
כִּי יְדַעְתִּיו לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יְצַוֶּה אֶת-בָּנָיו וְאֶת-בֵּיתוֹ אַֽחֲרָיו וְשָֽׁמְרוּ דֶּרֶךְ יְהוָה לַֽעֲשׂוֹת צְדָקָה וּמִשְׁפָּט לְמַעַן הָבִיא יְהוָה עַל-אַבְרָהָם אֵת אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר עָלָֽיו׃

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
אִוֶּלֶת קְשׁוּרָה בְלֶב-נָעַר שֵׁבֶט מוּסָר יַרְחִיקֶנָּה מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
εἴ παιδείαν ὑπομένετε ὡς υἱοῖς ὑμῖν προσφέρεται ὁ θεός τίς γὰρ ἐστιν υἱὸς ὃν οὐ παιδεύει πατήρ
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
אֱֽלֹהִים לִמַּדְתַּנִי מִנְּעוּרָי וְעַד-הֵנָּה אַגִּיד נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
לֹא נְכַחֵד׀ מִבְּנֵיהֶם לְדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן מְֽסַפְּרִים תְּהִלּוֹת יְהוָה וֶעֱזוּזוֹ וְנִפְלְאֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָֽׂה׃
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
כִּֽי-יִשְׁאָלְךָ בִנְךָ מָחָר לֵאמֹר מָה הָֽעֵדֹת וְהַֽחֻקִּים וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֶתְכֶֽם׃
And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
חַי חַי הוּא יוֹדֶךָ כָּמוֹנִי הַיּוֹם אָב לְבָנִים יוֹדִיעַ אֶל-אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃
The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.
וְאִם רַע בְּֽעֵינֵיכֶם לַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָה בַּֽחֲרוּ לָכֶם הַיּוֹם אֶת-מִי תַֽעֲבֹדוּן אִם אֶת-אֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר-עָֽבְדוּ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר (בעבר) מֵעֵבֶר הַנָּהָר וְאִם אֶת-אֱלֹהֵי הָֽאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם יֹֽשְׁבִים בְּאַרְצָם וְאָֽנֹכִי וּבֵיתִי נַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָֽה׃
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
