But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
נְשִׂיאִים וְרוּחַ וְגֶשֶׁם אָיִן אִישׁ מִתְהַלֵּל בְּמַתַּת-שָֽׁקֶר׃
Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.
τίς γάρ σε διακρίνει τί δὲ ἔχεις ὃ οὐκ ἔλαβες εἰ δὲ καὶ ἔλαβες τί καυχᾶσαι ὡς μὴ λαβών
For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
מַה-תִּתְהַלֵּל בְּרָעָה הַגִּבּוֹר חֶסֶד אֵל כָּל-הַיּֽוֹם׃
Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
εἰ δὲ ζῆλον πικρὸν ἔχετε καὶ ἐριθείαν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν μὴ κατακαυχᾶσθε καὶ ψεύδεσθε κατὰ τῆς ἀληθείας
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
ὅσα ἐδόξασεν ἑαυτὴν καὶ ἐστρηνίασεν τοσοῦτον δότε αὐτῇ βασανισμὸν καὶ πένθος ὅτι ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς λέγει Κάθημαι βασίλισσα καὶ χήρα οὐκ εἰμί καὶ πένθος οὐ μὴ ἴδω
How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
וַתִּבְטְחִי בְרָעָתֵךְ אָמַרְתְּ אֵין רֹאָנִי חָכְמָתֵךְ וְדַעְתֵּךְ הִיא שׁוֹבְבָתֶךְ וַתֹּאמְרִי בְלִבֵּךְ אֲנִי וְאַפְסִי עֽוֹד׃
For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
וַתֹּאמְרִי לְעוֹלָם אֶהְיֶה גְבָרֶת עַד לֹא-שַׂמְתְּ אֵלֶּה עַל-לִבֵּךְ לֹא זָכַרְתְּ אַחֲרִיתָֽהּ׃
And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
