וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֵלָיו עֲבָדָיו הִנֵּה-נָא שָׁמַעְנוּ כִּי מַלְכֵי בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּֽי-מַלְכֵי חֶסֶד הֵם נָשִׂימָה נָּא שַׂקִּים בְּמָתְנֵינוּ וַֽחֲבָלִים בְּרֹאשֵׁנוּ וְנֵצֵא אֶל-מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל אוּלַי יְחַיֶּה אֶת-נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.

וַתְּחַסְּרֵהוּ מְּעַט מֵאֱלֹהִים וְכָבוֹד וְהָדָר תְּעַטְּרֵֽהוּ׃

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם אֱלֹהִים פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ וּמִלְאוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ וְכִבְשֻׁהָ וּרְדוּ בִּדְגַת הַיָּם וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּבְכָל-חַיָּה הָֽרֹמֶשֶׂת עַל-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
