Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי מָה אַתָּה רֹאֶה (ויאמר) וָאֹמַר רָאִיתִי׀ וְהִנֵּה מְנוֹרַת זָהָב כֻּלָּהּ וְגֻלָּהּ עַל-רֹאשָׁהּ וְשִׁבְעָה נֵרֹתֶיהָ עָלֶיהָ שִׁבְעָה וְשִׁבְעָה מֽוּצָקוֹת לַנֵּרוֹת אֲשֶׁר עַל-רֹאשָֽׁהּ׃
And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
זַיִת רַֽעֲנָן יְפֵה פְרִי-תֹאַר קָרָא יְהוָה שְׁמֵךְ לְקוֹל׀ הֲמוּלָּה גְדֹלָה הִצִּית אֵשׁ עָלֶיהָ וְרָעוּ דָּלִיּוֹתָֽיו׃
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
וַאֲנִי׀ כְּזַיִת רַעֲנָן בְּבֵית אֱלֹהִים בָּטַחְתִּי בְחֶֽסֶד-אֱלֹהִים עוֹלָם וָעֶֽד׃
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
כִּי בֹעֲלַיִךְ עֹשַׂיִךְ יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת שְׁמוֹ וְגֹֽאֲלֵךְ קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל אֱלֹהֵי כָל-הָאָרֶץ יִקָּרֵֽא׃
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
τὸ μυστήριον τῶν ἑπτὰ ἀστέρων ὦν εἶδες ἐπὶ τῆς δεξιᾶς μου καὶ τὰς ἑπτὰ λυχνίας τὰς χρυσᾶς· οἱ ἑπτὰ ἀστέρες ἄγγελοι τῶν ἑπτὰ ἐκκλησιῶν εἰσιν καὶ αἱ ἑπτὰ λυχνίαι ἅς εἶδες ἑπτὰ ἐκκλησίαι εἰσίν
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Εἰ δέ τινες τῶν κλάδων ἐξεκλάσθησαν σὺ δὲ ἀγριέλαιος ὢν ἐνεκεντρίσθης ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ συγκοινωνὸς τῆς ῥίζης καὶ τῆς πιότητος τῆς ἐλαίας ἐγένου
And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Ὑμεῖς ἐστε τὸ φῶς τοῦ κόσμου οὐ δύναται πόλις κρυβῆναι ἐπάνω ὄρους κειμένη·
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Οὐδεὶς δὲ λύχνον ἅψας εἰς κρυπτόν τίθησιν οὐδὲ ὑπὸ τὸν μόδιον ἀλλ' ἐπὶ τὴν λυχνίαν ἵνα οἱ εἰσπορευόμενοι τὸ φέγγος βλέπωσιν
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
וְהִפְלֵיתִי בַיּוֹם הַהוּא אֶת-אֶרֶץ גֹּשֶׁן אֲשֶׁר עַמִּי עֹמֵד עָלֶיהָ לְבִלְתִּי הֱיֽוֹת-שָׁם עָרֹב לְמַעַן תֵּדַע כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה בְּקֶרֶב הָאָֽרֶץ׃
And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
בָּעֵת הַהִוא הִבְדִּיל יְהוָה אֶת-שֵׁבֶט הַלֵּוִי לָשֵׂאת אֶת-אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה לַֽעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לְשָֽׁרְתוֹ וּלְבָרֵךְ בִּשְׁמוֹ עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵֽלִיָּהוּ הַתִּשְׁבִּי מִתֹּֽשָׁבֵי גִלְעָד אֶל-אַחְאָב חַי-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר עָמַדְתִּי לְפָנָיו אִם-יִֽהְיֶה הַשָּׁנִים הָאֵלֶּה טַל וּמָטָר כִּי אִם-לְפִי דְבָרִֽי׃
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
קוּמִי וָדוֹשִׁי בַת-צִיּוֹן כִּֽי-קַרְנֵךְ אָשִׂים בַּרְזֶל וּפַרְסֹתַיִךְ אָשִׂים נְחוּשָׁה וַהֲדִקּוֹת עַמִּים רַבִּים וְהַחֲרַמְתִּי לַֽיהוָה בִּצְעָם וְחֵילָם לַאֲדוֹן כָּל-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
