וַיִּרְאוּ אֹתָהּ שָׂרֵי פַרְעֹה וַיְהַֽלְלוּ אֹתָהּ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וַתֻּקַּח הָֽאִשָּׁה בֵּית פַּרְעֹֽה׃
The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.
וּֽלְיִשְׁמָעֵאל שְׁמַעְתִּיךָ הִנֵּה׀ בֵּרַכְתִּי אֹתוֹ וְהִפְרֵיתִי אֹתוֹ וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֹתוֹ בִּמְאֹד מְאֹד שְׁנֵים-עָשָׂר נְשִׂיאִם יוֹלִיד וּנְתַתִּיו לְגוֹי גָּדֽוֹל׃
And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
וַֽיְהִי בָּעֵת הַהִוא וַיֹּאמֶר אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וּפִיכֹל שַׂר-צְבָאוֹ אֶל-אַבְרָהָם לֵאמֹר אֱלֹהִים עִמְּךָ בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-אַתָּה עֹשֶֽׂה׃
And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:
וַיִּכְרְתוּ בְרִית בִּבְאֵר שָׁבַע וַיָּקָם אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וּפִיכֹל שַׂר-צְבָאוֹ וַיָּשֻׁבוּ אֶל-אֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃
Thus they made a covenant at Beer-sheba: then Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.
שְׁמָעֵנוּ׀ אֲדֹנִי נְשִׂיא אֱלֹהִים אַתָּה בְּתוֹכֵנוּ בְּמִבְחַר קְבָרֵינוּ קְבֹר אֶת-מֵתֶךָ אִישׁ מִמֶּנּוּ אֶת-קִבְרוֹ לֹֽא-יִכְלֶה מִמְּךָ מִקְּבֹר מֵתֶֽךָ׃
Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
אֵלֶּה הֵם בְּנֵי יִשְׁמָעֵאל וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמֹתָם בְּחַצְרֵיהֶם וּבְטִֽירֹתָם שְׁנֵים-עָשָׂר נְשִׂיאִם לְאֻמֹּתָֽם׃
These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.
וַֽאֲבִימֶלֶךְ הָלַךְ אֵלָיו מִגְּרָר וַֽאֲחֻזַּת מֵֽרֵעֵהוּ וּפִיכֹל שַׂר-צְבָאֽוֹ׃
Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
וַיַּרְא אֹתָהּ שְׁכֶם בֶּן-חֲמוֹר הַֽחִוִּי נְשִׂיא הָאָרֶץ וַיִּקַּח אֹתָהּ וַיִּשְׁכַּב אֹתָהּ וַיְעַנֶּֽהָ׃
And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
וְהַמְּדָנִים מָֽכְרוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל-מִצְרָיִם לְפֽוֹטִיפַר סְרִיס פַּרְעֹה שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִֽים׃
And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
וְיוֹסֵף הוּרַד מִצְרָיְמָה וַיִּקְנֵהוּ פּֽוֹטִיפַר סְרִיס פַּרְעֹה שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים אִישׁ מִצְרִי מִיַּד הַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִים אֲשֶׁר הֽוֹרִדֻהוּ שָֽׁמָּה׃
And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
וַיְהִי יְהוָה אֶת-יוֹסֵף וַיֵּט אֵלָיו חָסֶד וַיִּתֵּן חִנּוֹ בְּעֵינֵי שַׂר בֵּית-הַסֹּֽהַר׃
But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
וַיִּתֵּן שַׂר בֵּית-הַסֹּהַר בְּיַד-יוֹסֵף אֵת כָּל-הָאֲסִירִם אֲשֶׁר בְּבֵית הַסֹּהַר וְאֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר עֹשִׂים שָׁם הוּא הָיָה עֹשֶֽׂה׃
And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.
אֵין׀ שַׂר בֵּית-הַסֹּהַר רֹאֶה אֶֽת-כָּל-מְאוּמָה בְּיָדוֹ בַּֽאֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אִתּוֹ וַֽאֲשֶׁר-הוּא עֹשֶׂה יְהוָה מַצְלִֽיחַ׃
The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
וַיִּקְצֹף פַּרְעֹה עַל שְׁנֵי סָֽרִיסָיו עַל שַׂר הַמַּשְׁקִים וְעַל שַׂר הָֽאוֹפִֽים׃
And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם בְּמִשְׁמַר בֵּית שַׂר הַטַבָּחִים אֶל-בֵּית הַסֹּהַר מְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יוֹסֵף אָסוּר שָֽׁם׃
And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
וַיִּפְקֹד שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים אֶת-יוֹסֵף אִתָּם וַיְשָׁרֶת אֹתָם וַיִּֽהְיוּ יָמִים בְּמִשְׁמָֽר׃
And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.
וַיְסַפֵּר שַֽׂר-הַמַּשְׁקִים אֶת-חֲלֹמוֹ לְיוֹסֵף וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ בַּֽחֲלוֹמִי וְהִנֵּה-גֶפֶן לְפָנָֽי׃
And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;
וַיַּרְא שַׂר-הָֽאֹפִים כִּי טוֹב פָּתָר וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל-יוֹסֵף אַף-אֲנִי בַּֽחֲלוֹמִי וְהִנֵּה שְׁלֹשָׁה סַלֵּי חֹרִי עַל-רֹאשִֽׁי׃
When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:
וַיְהִי׀ בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי יוֹם הֻלֶּדֶת אֶת-פַּרְעֹה וַיַּעַשׂ מִשְׁתֶּה לְכָל-עֲבָדָיו וַיִּשָּׂא אֶת-רֹאשׁ׀ שַׂר הַמַּשְׁקִים וְאֶת-רֹאשׁ שַׂר הָֽאֹפִים בְּתוֹךְ עֲבָדָֽיו׃
And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
וַיָּשֶׁב אֶת-שַׂר הַמַּשְׁקִים עַל-מַשְׁקֵהוּ וַיִּתֵּן הַכּוֹס עַל-כַּף פַּרְעֹֽה׃
And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:
וְאֵת שַׂר הָֽאֹפִים תָּלָה כַּֽאֲשֶׁר פָּתַר לָהֶם יוֹסֵֽף׃
But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
וְלֹֽא-זָכַר שַֽׂר-הַמַּשְׁקִים אֶת-יוֹסֵף וַיִּשְׁכָּחֵֽהוּ׃
Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
וַיְדַבֵּר שַׂר הַמַּשְׁקִים אֶת-פַּרְעֹה לֵאמֹר אֶת-חֲטָאַי אֲנִי מַזְכִּיר הַיּֽוֹם׃
Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:
פַּרְעֹה קָצַף עַל-עֲבָדָיו וַיִּתֵּן אֹתִי בְּמִשְׁמַר בֵּית שַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים אֹתִי וְאֵת שַׂר הָֽאֹפִֽים׃
Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker:
וְשָׁם אִתָּנוּ נַעַר עִבְרִי עֶבֶד לְשַׂר הַטַּבָּחִים וַנְּסַפֶּר-לוֹ וַיִּפְתָּר-לָנוּ אֶת-חֲלֹֽמֹתֵינוּ אִישׁ כַּֽחֲלֹמוֹ פָּתָֽר׃
And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לְפָנֶיךָ הִוא בְּמֵיטַב הָאָרֶץ הוֹשֵׁב אֶת-אָבִיךָ וְאֶת-אַחֶיךָ יֵֽשְׁבוּ בְּאֶרֶץ גֹּשֶׁן וְאִם-יָדַעְתָּ וְיֶשׁ-בָּם אַנְשֵׁי-חַיִל וְשַׂמְתָּם שָׂרֵי מִקְנֶה עַל-אֲשֶׁר-לִֽי׃
The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
וַיָּשִׂימוּ עָלָיו שָׂרֵי מִסִּים לְמַעַן עַנֹּתוֹ בְּסִבְלֹתָם וַיִּבֶן עָרֵי מִסְכְּנוֹת לְפַרְעֹה אֶת-פִּתֹם וְאֶת-רַֽעַמְסֵֽס׃
Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
וַיֹּאמֶר מִי שָֽׂמְךָ לְאִישׁ שַׂר וְשֹׁפֵט עָלֵינוּ הַלְהָרְגֵנִי אַתָּה אֹמֵר כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָרַגְתָּ אֶת-הַמִּצְרִי וַיִּירָא מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמַר אָכֵן נוֹדַע הַדָּבָֽר׃
And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
וַיְהִי׀ בַּיּוֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁי לָֽקְטוּ לֶחֶם מִשְׁנֶה שְׁנֵי הָעֹמֶר לָֽאֶחָד וַיָּבֹאוּ כָּל-נְשִׂיאֵי הָֽעֵדָה וַיַּגִּידוּ לְמֹשֶֽׁה׃
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
וְאַתָּה תֶֽחֱזֶה מִכָּל-הָעָם אַנְשֵׁי-חַיִל יִרְאֵי אֱלֹהִים אַנְשֵׁי אֱמֶת שֹׂנְאֵי בָצַע וְשַׂמְתָּ עֲלֵהֶם שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים שָׂרֵי מֵאוֹת שָׂרֵי חֲמִשִּׁים וְשָׂרֵי עֲשָׂרֹֽת׃
Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
וַיִּבְחַר מֹשֶׁה אַנְשֵׁי-חַיִל מִכָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם רָאשִׁים עַל-הָעָם שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים שָׂרֵי מֵאוֹת שָׂרֵי חֲמִשִּׁים וְשָׂרֵי עֲשָׂרֹֽת׃
And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
אֱלֹהִים לֹא תְקַלֵּל וְנָשִׂיא בְעַמְּךָ לֹא תָאֹֽר׃
Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
וַיִּקְרָא אֲלֵהֶם מֹשֶׁה וַיָּשֻׁבוּ אֵלָיו אַֽהֲרֹן וְכָל-הַנְּשִׂאִים בָּֽעֵדָה וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֲלֵהֶֽם׃
And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.
וְהַנְּשִׂאִם הֵבִיאוּ אֵת אַבְנֵי הַשֹּׁהַם וְאֵת אַבְנֵי הַמִּלֻּאִים לָֽאֵפוֹד וְלַחֹֽשֶׁן׃
And the rulers brought onyx stones, and stones to be set, for the ephod, and for the breastplate;
אֲשֶׁר נָשִׂיא יֶֽחֱטָא וְעָשָׂה אַחַת מִכָּל-מִצְוֹת יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-תֵעָשֶׂינָה בִּשְׁגָגָה וְאָשֵֽׁם׃
When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;
אֵלֶּה (קריאי) קְרוּאֵי הָֽעֵדָה נְשִׂיאֵי מַטּוֹת אֲבוֹתָם רָאשֵׁי אַלְפֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵֽם׃
These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
אֵלֶּה הַפְּקֻדִים אֲשֶׁר פָּקַד מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן וּנְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר אִישׁ אִישׁ-אֶחָד לְבֵית-אֲבֹתָיו הָיֽוּ׃
These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
וְהַֽחֹנִים קֵדְמָה מִזְרָחָה דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה יְהוּדָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי יְהוּדָה נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן-עַמִּֽינָדָֽב׃
And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah.
וְהַֽחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה יִשָּׂשכָר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי יִשָּׂשכָר נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָֽר׃
And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.
מַטֵּה זְבוּלֻן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹֽן׃
Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun.
דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה רְאוּבֵן תֵּימָנָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי רְאוּבֵן אֱלִיצוּר בֶּן-שְׁדֵיאֽוּר׃
On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.
וְהַֽחוֹנִם עָלָיו מַטֵּה שִׁמְעוֹן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻֽמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
וְמַטֵּה גָּד וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-רְעוּאֵֽל׃
Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.
דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה אֶפְרַיִם לְצִבְאֹתָם יָמָּה וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אֶפְרַיִם אֱלִֽישָׁמָע בֶּן-עַמִּיהֽוּד׃
On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.
וְעָלָיו מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה גַּמְלִיאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָהצֽוּר׃
And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
וּמַטֵּה בִּנְיָמִן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי בִנְיָמִן אֲבִידָן בֶּן-גִּדְעֹנִֽי׃
Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.
דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה דָן צָפֹנָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי דָן אֲחִיעֶזֶר בֶּן-עַמִּֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
וְהַֽחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה אָשֵׁר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אָשֵׁר פַּגְעִיאֵל בֶּן-עָכְרָֽן׃
And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.
וּמַטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי נַפְתָּלִי אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָֽן׃
Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.
וּנְשִׂיא בֵֽית-אָב לַגֵּֽרְשֻׁנִּי אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-לָאֵֽל׃
And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.
וּנְשִׂיא בֵֽית-אָב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי אֱלִֽיצָפָן בֶּן-עֻזִּיאֵֽל׃
And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
וּנְשִׂיא נְשִׂיאֵי הַלֵּוִי אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַֽהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן פְּקֻדַּת שֹֽׁמְרֵי מִשְׁמֶרֶת הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃
And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.
וּנְשִׂיא בֵֽית-אָב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹת מְרָרִי צֽוּרִיאֵל בֶּן-אֲבִיחָיִל עַל יֶרֶךְ הַמִּשְׁכָּן יַֽחֲנוּ צָפֹֽנָה׃
And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.
וַיִּפְקֹד מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן וּנְשִׂיאֵי הָֽעֵדָה אֶת-בְּנֵי הַקְּהָתִי לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם וּלְבֵית אֲבֹתָֽם׃
And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
כָּֽל-הַפְּקֻדִים אֲשֶׁר פָּקַד מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן וּנְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם וּלְבֵית אֲבֹתָֽם׃
All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
וַיַּקְרִיבוּ נְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רָאשֵׁי בֵּית אֲבֹתָם הֵם נְשִׂיאֵי הַמַּטֹּת הֵם הָעֹֽמְדִים עַל-הַפְּקֻדִֽים׃
That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
וַיָּבִיאוּ אֶת-קָרְבָּנָם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה שֵׁשׁ-עֶגְלֹת צָב וּשְׁנֵי עָשָׂר בָּקָר עֲגָלָה עַל-שְׁנֵי הַנְּשִׂאִים וְשׁוֹר לְאֶחָד וַיַּקְרִיבוּ אוֹתָם לִפְנֵי הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃
And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
וַיַּקְרִיבוּ הַנְּשִׂאִים אֵת חֲנֻכַּת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ בְּיוֹם הִמָּשַׁח אֹתוֹ וַיַּקְרִיבוּ הַנְּשִׂיאִם אֶת-קָרְבָּנָם לִפְנֵי הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
And the princes offered for dedicating of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the princes offered their offering before the altar.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה נָשִׂיא אֶחָד לַיּוֹם נָשִׂיא אֶחָד לַיּוֹם יַקְרִיבוּ אֶת-קָרְבָּנָם לַֽחֲנֻכַּת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating of the altar.
בַּיּוֹם הַשֵּׁנִי הִקְרִיב נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָר נְשִׂיא יִשָּׂשכָֽר׃
On the second day Nethaneel the son of Zuar, prince of Issachar, did offer:
בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹֽן׃
On the third day Eliab the son of Helon, prince of the children of Zebulun, did offer:
בַּיּוֹם הָֽרְבִיעִי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי רְאוּבֵן אֱלִיצוּר בֶּן-שְׁדֵיאֽוּר׃
On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, prince of the children of Reuben, did offer:
בַּיּוֹם הַֽחֲמִישִׁי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻֽמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
On the fifth day Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai, prince of the children of Simeon, did offer:
בַּיּוֹם הַשִּׁשִּׁי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-דְּעוּאֵֽל׃
On the sixth day Eliasaph the son of Deuel, prince of the children of Gad, offered:
בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אֶפְרָיִם אֱלִֽישָׁמָע בֶּן-עַמִּיהֽוּד׃
On the seventh day Elishama the son of Ammihud, prince of the children of Ephraim, offered:
בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה גַּמְלִיאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָהצֽוּר׃
On the eighth day offered Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur, prince of the children of Manasseh:
בַּיּוֹם הַתְּשִׁיעִי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי בִנְיָמִן אֲבִידָן בֶּן-גִּדְעֹנִֽי׃
On the ninth day Abidan the son of Gideoni, prince of the children of Benjamin, offered:
בַּיּוֹם הָֽעֲשִׂירִי נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי דָן אֲחִיעֶזֶר בֶּן-עַמִּֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
On the tenth day Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai, prince of the children of Dan, offered:
בְּיוֹם עַשְׁתֵּי עָשָׂר יוֹם נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אָשֵׁר פַּגְעִיאֵל בֶּן-עָכְרָֽן׃
On the eleventh day Pagiel the son of Ocran, prince of the children of Asher, offered:
בְּיוֹם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר יוֹם נָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי נַפְתָּלִי אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָֽן׃
On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan, prince of the children of Naphtali, offered:
זֹאת׀ חֲנֻכַּת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ בְּיוֹם הִמָּשַׁח אֹתוֹ מֵאֵת נְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל קַֽעֲרֹת כֶּסֶף שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה מִֽזְרְקֵי-כֶסֶף שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר כַּפּוֹת זָהָב שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵֽה׃
This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold:
וְאִם-בְּאַחַת יִתְקָעוּ וְנֽוֹעֲדוּ אֵלֶיךָ הַנְּשִׂיאִים רָאשֵׁי אַלְפֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
שְׁלַח-לְךָ אֲנָשִׁים וְיָתֻרוּ אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ אֶחָד אִישׁ אֶחָד לְמַטֵּה אֲבֹתָיו תִּשְׁלָחוּ כֹּל נָשִׂיא בָהֶֽם׃
Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
וַיָּקֻמוּ לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה וַֽאֲנָשִׁים מִבְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָיִם נְשִׂיאֵי עֵדָה קְרִאֵי מוֹעֵד אַנְשֵׁי-שֵֽׁם׃
And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
דַּבֵּר׀ אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְקַח מֵֽאִתָּם מַטֶּה מַטֶּה לְבֵית אָב מֵאֵת כָּל-נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר מַטּוֹת אִישׁ אֶת-שְׁמוֹ תִּכְתֹּב עַל-מַטֵּֽהוּ׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתְּנוּ אֵלָיו׀ כָּֽל-נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶם מַטֶּה לְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד מַטֶּה לְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר מַטּוֹת וּמַטֵּה אַֽהֲרֹן בְּתוֹךְ מַטּוֹתָֽם׃
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
בְּאֵר חֲפָרוּהָ שָׂרִים כָּרוּהָ נְדִיבֵי הָעָם בִּמְחֹקֵק בְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָם וּמִמִּדְבָּר מַתָּנָֽה׃
The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לִינוּ פֹה הַלַּיְלָה וַהֲשִֽׁבֹתִי אֶתְכֶם דָּבָר כַּֽאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֵלָי וַיֵּֽשְׁבוּ שָׂרֵֽי-מוֹאָב עִם-בִּלְעָֽם׃
And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
וַיָּקָם בִּלְעָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל-שָׂרֵי בָלָק לְכוּ אֶֽל-אַרְצְכֶם כִּי מֵאֵן יְהוָה לְתִתִּי לַֽהֲלֹךְ עִמָּכֶֽם׃
And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.
וַיָּקוּמוּ שָׂרֵי מוֹאָב וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל-בָּלָק וַיֹּאמְרוּ מֵאֵן בִּלְעָם הֲלֹךְ עִמָּֽנוּ׃
And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.
וַיֹּסֶף עוֹד בָּלָק שְׁלֹחַ שָׂרִים רַבִּים וְנִכְבָּדִים מֵאֵֽלֶּה׃
And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.
וַיָּקָם בִּלְעָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ אֶת-אֲתֹנוֹ וַיֵּלֶךְ עִם-שָׂרֵי מוֹאָֽב׃
And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
וַיֹּאמֶר מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה אֶל-בִּלְעָם לֵךְ עִם-הָאֲנָשִׁים וְאֶפֶס אֶת-הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר-אֲדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ אֹתוֹ תְדַבֵּר וַיֵּלֶךְ בִּלְעָם עִם-שָׂרֵי בָלָֽק׃
And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
וַיִּזְבַּח בָּלָק בָּקָר וָצֹאן וַיְשַׁלַּח לְבִלְעָם וְלַשָּׂרִים אֲשֶׁר אִתּֽוֹ׃
And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
וַיָּשָׁב אֵלָיו וְהִנֵּה נִצָּב עַל-עֹֽלָתוֹ הוּא וְכָל-שָׂרֵי מוֹאָֽב׃
And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.
וַיָּבֹא אֵלָיו וְהִנּוֹ נִצָּב עַל-עֹלָתוֹ וְשָׂרֵי מוֹאָב אִתּוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ בָּלָק מַה-דִּבֶּר יְהוָֽה׃
And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?
וְשֵׁם אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמֻּכֶּה אֲשֶׁר הֻכָּה אֶת-הַמִּדְיָנִית זִמְרִי בֶּן-סָלוּא נְשִׂיא בֵֽית-אָב לַשִּׁמְעֹנִֽי׃
Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.
כִּי צֹֽרְרִים הֵם לָכֶם בְּנִכְלֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר-נִכְּלוּ לָכֶם עַל-דְּבַר-פְּעוֹר וְעַל-דְּבַר כָּזְבִּי בַת-נְשִׂיא מִדְיָן אֲחֹתָם הַמֻּכָּה בְיוֹם-הַמַּגֵּפָה עַל-דְּבַר-פְּעֽוֹר׃
For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor's sake.
וַֽתַּעֲמֹדְנָה לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה וְלִפְנֵי אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְלִפְנֵי הַנְּשִׂיאִם וְכָל-הָֽעֵדָה פֶּתַח אֹֽהֶל-מוֹעֵד לֵאמֹֽר׃
And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
וַיֵּצְאוּ מֹשֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְכָל-נְשִׂיאֵי הָֽעֵדָה לִקְרָאתָם אֶל-מִחוּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃
And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.
וַיִּקְצֹף מֹשֶׁה עַל פְּקוּדֵי הֶחָיִל שָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים וְשָׂרֵי הַמֵּאוֹת הַבָּאִים מִצְּבָא הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ אֶל-מֹשֶׁה הַפְּקֻדִים אֲשֶׁר לְאַלְפֵי הַצָּבָא שָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים וְשָׂרֵי הַמֵּאֽוֹת׃
And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:
וַיְהִי׀ כָּל-זְהַב הַתְּרוּמָה אֲשֶׁר הֵרִימוּ לַֽיהוָה שִׁשָּׁה עָשָׂר אֶלֶף שְׁבַע-מֵאוֹת וַֽחֲמִשִּׁים שָׁקֶל מֵאֵת שָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים וּמֵאֵת שָׂרֵי הַמֵּאֽוֹת׃
And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה וְאֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן אֶת-הַזָּהָב מֵאֵת שָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים וְהַמֵּאוֹת וַיָּבִאוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל-אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד זִכָּרוֹן לִבְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לִפְנֵי יְהוָֽה׃
And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.
וַיָּבֹאוּ בְנֵֽי-גָד וּבְנֵי רְאוּבֵן וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אֶלְעָזָר הַכֹּהֵן וְאֶל-נְשִׂיאֵי הָֽעֵדָה לֵאמֹֽר׃
The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,
וְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד נָשִׂיא אֶחָד מִמַּטֶּה תִּקְחוּ לִנְחֹל אֶת-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land by inheritance.
וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵי-דָן נָשִׂיא בֻּקִּי בֶּן-יָגְלִֽי׃
And the prince of the tribe of the children of Dan, Bukki the son of Jogli.
לִבְנֵי יוֹסֵף לְמַטֵּה בְנֵֽי-מְנַשֶּׁה נָשִׂיא חַנִּיאֵל בֶּן-אֵפֹֽד׃
The prince of the children of Joseph, for the tribe of the children of Manasseh, Hanniel the son of Ephod.
וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵֽי-אֶפְרַיִם נָשִׂיא קְמוּאֵל בֶּן-שִׁפְטָֽן׃
And the prince of the tribe of the children of Ephraim, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.
וּלְמַטֵּה בְנֵֽי-זְבוּלֻן נָשִׂיא אֱלִֽיצָפָן בֶּן-פַּרְנָֽךְ׃
And the prince of the tribe of the children of Zebulun, Elizaphan the son of Parnach.
