וְלִמְשֶֽׁלֶמְיָהוּ בָּנִים וְאַחִים בְּנֵי-חָיִל שְׁמוֹנָה עָשָֽׂר׃
And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen.
וּלְחֹסָה מִן-בְּנֵֽי-מְרָרִי בָּנִים שִׁמְרִי הָרֹאשׁ כִּי לֹֽא-הָיָה בְכוֹר וַיְשִׂימֵהוּ אָבִיהוּ לְרֹֽאשׁ׃
Also Hosah, of the children of Merari, had sons; Simri the chief, (for though he was not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief;)
חִלְקִיָּהוּ הַשֵּׁנִי טְבַלְיָהוּ הַשְּׁלִשִׁי זְכַרְיָהוּ הָֽרְבִעִי כָּל-בָּנִים וְאַחִים לְחֹסָה שְׁלֹשָׁה עָשָֽׂר׃
Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth: all the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.
וַיִּפֹּל הַגּוֹרָל מִזְרָחָה לְשֶֽׁלֶמְיָהוּ וּזְכַרְיָהוּ בְנוֹ יוֹעֵץ׀ בְּשֶׂכֶל הִפִּילוּ גּֽוֹרָלוֹת וַיֵּצֵא גֽוֹרָלוֹ צָפֽוֹנָה׃
And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counseller, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward.
לְעֹבֵד אֱדֹם נֶגְבָּה וּלְבָנָיו בֵּית הָֽאֲסֻפִּֽים׃
To Obed-edom southward; and to his sons the house of Asuppim.
אֵלֶּה מַחְלְקוֹת הַשֹּׁעֲרִים לִבְנֵי הַקָּרְחִי וְלִבְנֵי מְרָרִֽי׃
These are the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari.
בְּנֵי לַעְדָּן בְּנֵי הַגֵּֽרְשֻׁנִּי לְלַעְדָּן רָאשֵׁי הָֽאָבוֹת לְלַעְדָּן הַגֵּֽרְשֻׁנִּי יְחִיאֵלִֽי׃
As concerning the sons of Laadan; the sons of the Gershonite Laadan, chief fathers, even of Laadan the Gershonite, were Jehieli.
בְּנֵי יְחִֽיאֵלִי זֵתָם וְיוֹאֵל אָחִיו עַל-אֹֽצְרוֹת בֵּית יְהוָֽה׃
The sons of Jehieli; Zetham, and Joel his brother, which were over the treasures of the house of the LORD.
וּשְׁבֻאֵל בֶּן-גֵּֽרְשׁוֹם בֶּן-מֹשֶׁה נָגִיד עַל-הָאֹֽצָרֽוֹת׃
And Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler of the treasures.
וְאֶחָיו לֶֽאֱלִיעֶזֶר רְחַבְיָהוּ בְנוֹ וִֽישַׁעְיָהֽוּ בְנוֹ וְיֹרָם בְּנוֹ וְזִכְרִי בְנוֹ (ושלמות) וּשְׁלֹמִית בְּנֽוֹ׃
And his brethren by Eliezer; Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son.
וְכֹל הַֽהִקְדִּישׁ שְׁמוּאֵל הָֽרֹאֶה וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן-קִישׁ וְאַבְנֵר בֶּן-נֵר וְיוֹאָב בֶּן-צְרוּיָה כֹּל הַמַּקְדִּישׁ עַל יַד-שְׁלֹמִית וְאֶחָֽיו׃
And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; and whosoever had dedicated any thing, it was under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren.
לַיִּצְהָרִי כְּנַנְיָהוּ וּבָנָיו לַמְּלָאכָה הַחִֽיצוֹנָה עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְשֹֽׁטְרִים וּלְשֹֽׁפְטִֽים׃
Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.
לַֽחֶבְרוֹנִי חֲשַׁבְיָהוּ וְאֶחָיו בְּנֵי-חַיִל אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע-מֵאוֹת עַל פְּקֻדַּת יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵעֵבֶר לַיַּרְדֵּן מַעְרָבָה לְכֹל מְלֶאכֶת יְהוָה וְלַֽעֲבֹדַת הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, were officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king.
וְאֶחָיו בְּנֵי-חַיִל אַלְפַּיִם וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת רָאשֵׁי הָֽאָבוֹת וַֽיַּפְקִידֵם דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל-הָרֽאוּבֵנִי וְהַגָּדִי וַֽחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַֽמְנַשִּׁי לְכָל-דְּבַר הָֽאֱלֹהִים וּדְבַר הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׀ לְֽמִסְפָּרָם רָאשֵׁי הָֽאָבוֹת וְשָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים׀ וְהַמֵּאוֹת וְשֹֽׁטְרֵיהֶם הַמְשָֽׁרְתִים אֶת-הַמֶּלֶךְ לְכֹל׀ דְּבַר הַֽמַּחְלְקוֹת הַבָּאָה וְהַיֹּצֵאת חֹדֶשׁ בְּחֹדֶשׁ לְכֹל חָדְשֵׁי הַשָּׁנָה הַֽמַּחֲלֹקֶת הָֽאַחַת עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
עַל הַמַּֽחֲלֹקֶת הָרִֽאשׁוֹנָה לַחֹדֶשׁ הָֽרִאשׁוֹן יָֽשָׁבְעָם בֶּן-זַבְדִּיאֵל וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
מִן-בְּנֵי-פֶרֶץ הָרֹאשׁ לְכָל-שָׂרֵי הַצְּבָאוֹת לַחֹדֶשׁ הָֽרִאשֽׁוֹן׃
Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.
שַׂר הַצָּבָא הַשְּׁלִישִׁי לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁלִישִׁי בְּנָיָהוּ בֶן-יְהֽוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן רֹאשׁ וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
הוּא בְנָיָהוּ גִּבּוֹר הַשְּׁלֹשִׁים וְעַל-הַשְּׁלֹשִׁים וּמַחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עַמִּֽיזָבָד בְּנֽוֹ׃
This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.
הָֽרְבִיעִי לַחֹדֶשׁ הָֽרְבִיעִי עֲשָׂה-אֵל אֲחִי יוֹאָב וּזְבַדְיָה בְנוֹ אַֽחֲרָיו וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
הַשִּׁשִּׁי לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשִּׁשִּׁי עִירָא בֶן-עִקֵּשׁ הַתְּקוֹעִי וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
הַשְּׁבִיעִי לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי חֶלֶץ הַפְּלוֹנִי מִן-בְּנֵי אֶפְרָיִם וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
הַתְּשִׁיעִי לַחֹדֶשׁ הַתְּשִׁיעִי אֲבִיעֶזֶר הָעַנְּתֹתִי (לבנימיני) לַבֵּן יְמִינִי וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
עַשְׁתֵּֽי-עָשָׂר לְעַשְׁתֵּי עָשָׂר הַחֹדֶשׁ בְּנָיָה הַפִּרְעָֽתוֹנִי מִן-בְּנֵי אֶפְרָיִם וְעַל מַֽחֲלֻקְתּוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה אָֽלֶף׃
The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
וְעַל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָרֽאוּבֵנִי נָגִיד אֱלִיעֶזֶר בֶּן-זִכְרִי לַשִּׁמְעוֹנִי שְׁפַטְיָהוּ בֶּֽן-מַעֲכָֽה׃
Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:
לְלֵוִי חֲשַׁבְיָה בֶן-קְמוּאֵל לְאַֽהֲרֹן צָדֽוֹק׃
Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok:
לִֽיהוּדָה אֱלִיהוּ מֵֽאֲחֵי דָוִיד לְיִשָׂשכָר עָמְרִי בֶּן-מִֽיכָאֵֽל׃
Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:
לִזְבוּלֻן יִֽשְׁמַעְיָהוּ בֶּן-עֹֽבַדְיָהוּ לְנַפְתָּלִי יְרִימוֹת בֶּן-עַזְרִיאֵֽל׃
Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel:
לִבְנֵי אֶפְרַיִם הוֹשֵׁעַ בֶּן-עֲזַזְיָהוּ לַֽחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט מְנַשֶּׁה יוֹאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָיָֽהוּ׃
Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:
לַֽחֲצִי הַֽמְנַשֶּׁה גִּלְעָדָה יִדּוֹ בֶּן-זְכַרְיָהוּ לְבִנְיָמִן יַֽעֲשִׂיאֵל בֶּן-אַבְנֵֽר׃
Of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:
לְדָן עֲזַרְאֵל בֶּן-יְרֹחָם אֵלֶּה שָׂרֵי שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.
וְלֹֽא-נָשָׂא דָוִיד מִסְפָּרָם לְמִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וּלְמָטָּה כִּי אָמַר יְהוָה לְהַרְבּוֹת אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֽוֹכְבֵי הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.
יוֹאָב בֶּן-צְרוּיָה הֵחֵל לִמְנוֹת וְלֹא כִלָּה וַיְהִי בָזֹאת קֶצֶף עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא עָלָה הַמִּסְפָּר בְּמִסְפַּר דִּבְרֵֽי-הַיָּמִים לַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִֽיד׃
Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.
וְעַל אֹֽצְרוֹת הַמֶּלֶךְ עַזְמָוֶת בֶּן-עֲדִיאֵל וְעַל הָאֹֽצָרוֹת בַּשָּׂדֶה בֶּֽעָרִים וּבַכְּפָרִים וּבַמִּגְדָּלוֹת יְהֽוֹנָתָן בֶּן-עֻזִּיָּֽהוּ׃
And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:
וְעַל עֹשֵׂי מְלֶאכֶת הַשָּׂדֶה לַֽעֲבֹדַת הָֽאֲדָמָה עֶזְרִי בֶּן-כְּלֽוּב׃
And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:
וְעַל-הַבָּקָר הָֽרֹעִים בַּשָּׁרוֹן (שטרי) שִׁרְטַי הַשָּֽׁרוֹנִי וְעַל-הַבָּקָר בָּֽעֲמָקִים שָׁפָט בֶּן-עַדְלָֽי׃
And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:
וִיהֽוֹנָתָן דּוֹד-דָּוִיד יוֹעֵץ אִישׁ-מֵבִין וְסוֹפֵר הוּא וִֽיחִיאֵל בֶּן-חַכְמוֹנִי עִם-בְּנֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counseller, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king's sons:
וְאַֽחֲרֵי אֲחִיתֹפֶל יְהֽוֹיָדָע בֶּן-בְּנָיָהוּ וְאֶבְיָתָר וְשַׂר-צָבָא לַמֶּלֶךְ יוֹאָֽב׃
And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king's army was Joab.
וַיַּקְהֵל דָּוִיד אֶת-כָּל-שָׂרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שָׂרֵי הַשְּׁבָטִים וְשָׂרֵי הַמַּחְלְקוֹת הַמְשָֽׁרְתִים אֶת-הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשָׂרֵי הָֽאֲלָפִים וְשָׂרֵי הַמֵּאוֹת וְשָׂרֵי כָל-רְכוּשׁ-וּמִקְנֶה׀ לַמֶּלֶךְ וּלְבָנָיו עִם-הַסָּֽרִיסִים וְהַגִּבּוֹרִים וּֽלְכָל-גִּבּוֹר חָיִל אֶל-יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
וַיִּבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּי מִכֹּל בֵּית-אָבִי לִֽהְיוֹת לְמֶלֶךְ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעוֹלָם כִּי בִֽיהוּדָה בָּחַר לְנָגִיד וּבְבֵית יְהוּדָה בֵּית אָבִי וּבִבְנֵי אָבִי בִּי רָצָה לְהַמְלִיךְ עַל-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
וּמִכָּל-בָּנַי כִּי רַבִּים בָּנִים נָתַן לִי יְהוָה וַיִּבְחַר בִּשְׁלֹמֹה בְנִי לָשֶׁבֶת עַל-כִּסֵּא מַלְכוּת יְהוָה עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
וַיֹּאמֶר לִי שְׁלֹמֹה בִנְךָ הֽוּא-יִבְנֶה בֵיתִי וַחֲצֵֽרוֹתָי כִּֽי-בָחַרְתִּי בוֹ לִי לְבֵן וַֽאֲנִי אֶֽהְיֶה-לּוֹ לְאָֽב׃
And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
וְעַתָּה לְעֵינֵי כָל-יִשְׂרָאֵל קְהַל-יְהוָה וּבְאָזְנֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ שִׁמְרוּ וְדִרְשׁוּ כָּל-מִצְוֹת יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם לְמַעַן תִּֽירְשׁוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה וְהִנְחַלְתֶּם לִבְנֵיכֶם אַֽחֲרֵיכֶם עַד-עוֹלָֽם׃
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
וְאַתָּה שְׁלֹמֹֽה-בְנִי דַּע אֶת-אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךָ וְעָבְדֵהוּ בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם וּבְנֶפֶשׁ חֲפֵצָה כִּי כָל-לְבָבוֹת דּוֹרֵשׁ יְהוָה וְכָל-יֵצֶר מַֽחֲשָׁבוֹת מֵבִין אִֽם-תִּדְרְשֶׁנּוּ יִמָּצֵא לָךְ וְאִם-תַּֽעַזְבֶנּוּ יַזְנִֽיחֲךָ לָעַֽד׃
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
וַיִּתֵּן דָּוִיד לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ אֶת-תַּבְנִית הָֽאוּלָם וְֽאֶת-בָּתָּיו וְגַנְזַכָּיו וַֽעֲלִיֹּתָיו וַֽחֲדָרָיו הַפְּנִימִים וּבֵית הַכַּפֹּֽרֶת׃
Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ חֲזַק וֶֽאֱמַץ וַֽעֲשֵׂה אַל-תִּירָא וְאַל-תֵּחָת כִּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהַי עִמָּךְ לֹא יַרְפְּךָ וְלֹא יַֽעַזְבֶךָּ עַד-לִכְלוֹת כָּל-מְלֶאכֶת עֲבוֹדַת בֵּית-יְהוָֽה׃
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ לְכָל-הַקָּהָל שְׁלֹמֹה בְנִי אֶחָד בָּֽחַר-בּוֹ אֱלֹהִים נַעַר וָרָךְ וְהַמְּלָאכָה גְדוֹלָה כִּי לֹא לְאָדָם הַבִּירָה כִּי לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
וְלִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנִי תֵּן לֵבָב שָׁלֵם לִשְׁמוֹר מִצְוֹתֶיךָ עֵדְוֹתֶיךָ וְחֻקֶּיךָ וְלַֽעֲשׂוֹת הַכֹּל וְלִבְנוֹת הַבִּירָה אֲשֶׁר-הֲכִינֽוֹתִי׃
And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתּוּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא בְּשִׂמְחָה גְדוֹלָה וַיַּמְלִיכוּ שֵׁנִית לִשְׁלֹמֹה בֶן-דָּוִיד וַיִּמְשְׁחוּ לַֽיהוָה לְנָגִיד וּלְצָדוֹק לְכֹהֵֽן׃
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.
וְכָל-הַשָּׂרִים וְהַגִּבֹּרִים וְגַם כָּל-בְּנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִיד נָתְנוּ יָד תַּחַת שְׁלֹמֹה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
וְדָוִיד בֶּן-יִשָׁי מָלַךְ עַל-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
וַיָּמָת בְּשֵׂיבָה טוֹבָה שְׂבַע יָמִים עֹשֶׁר וְכָבוֹד וַיִּמְלֹךְ שְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
וַיִּתְחַזֵּק שְׁלֹמֹה בֶן-דָּוִיד עַל-מַלְכוּתוֹ וַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ וַֽיְגַדְּלֵהוּ לְמָֽעְלָה׃
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
וּמִזְבַּח הַנְּחֹשֶׁת אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה בְּצַלְאֵל בֶּן-אוּרִי בֶן-חוּר שָׂם לִפְנֵי מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה וַיִּדְרְשֵׁהוּ שְׁלֹמֹה וְהַקָּהָֽל׃
Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
וַיֹּאמֶר חוּרָם בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה אֶת-הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לְדָוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ בֵּן חָכָם יוֹדֵעַ שֵׂכֶל וּבִינָה אֲשֶׁר יִבְנֶה-בַּיִת לַֽיהוָה וּבַיִת לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
בֶּן-אִשָּׁה מִן-בְּנוֹת דָּן וְאָבִיו אִישׁ-צֹרִי יוֹדֵעַ לַֽעֲשׂוֹת בַּזָּֽהָב-וּבַכֶּסֶף בַּנְּחֹשֶׁת בַּבַּרְזֶל בָּֽאֲבָנִים וּבָֽעֵצִים בָּֽאַרְגָּמָן בַּתְּכֵלֶת וּבַבּוּץ וּבַכַּרְמִיל וּלְפַתֵּחַ כָּל-פִּתּוּחַ וְלַחְשֹׁב כָּל-מַֽחֲשָׁבֶת אֲשֶׁר יִנָּֽתֶן-לוֹ עִם-חֲכָמֶיךָ וְֽחַכְמֵי אֲדֹנִי דָּוִיד אָבִֽיךָ׃
The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
אָז יַקְהֵיל שְׁלֹמֹה אֶת-זִקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶת-כָּל-רָאשֵׁי הַמַּטּוֹת נְשִׂיאֵי הָֽאָבוֹת לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-יְרֽוּשָׁלִָם לְֽהַעֲלוֹת אֶת-אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה מֵעִיר דָּוִיד הִיא צִיּֽוֹן׃
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.
אֵין בָּֽאָרוֹן רַק שְׁנֵי הַלֻּחוֹת אֲשֶׁר-נָתַן מֹשֶׁה בְּחֹרֵב אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת יְהוָה עִם-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּצֵאתָם מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.
וְהַלְוִיִּם הַמְשֹׁרֲרִים לְכֻלָּם לְאָסָף לְהֵימָן לִֽידֻתוּן וְלִבְנֵיהֶם וְלַֽאֲחֵיהֶם מְלֻבָּשִׁים בּוּץ בִּמְצִלְתַּיִם וּבִנְבָלִים וְכִנֹּרוֹת עֹֽמְדִים מִזְרָח לַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְעִמָּהֶם כֹּֽהֲנִים לְמֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים (מחצררים) מַחְצְרִים בַּחֲצֹֽצְרֽוֹת׃
Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
רַק אַתָּה לֹא תִבְנֶה הַבָּיִת כִּי בִנְךָ הַיּוֹצֵא מֵֽחֲלָצֶיךָ הֽוּא-יִבְנֶה הַבַּיִת לִשְׁמִֽי׃
Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
וָֽאָשִׂים שָׁם אֶת-הָאָרוֹן אֲשֶׁר-שָׁם בְּרִית יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת עִם-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel.
וְעַתָּה יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמֹר לְעַבְדְּךָ דָוִיד אָבִי אֵת אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתָּ לּוֹ לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-יִכָּרֵת לְךָ אִישׁ מִלְּפָנַי יוֹשֵׁב עַל-כִּסֵּא יִשְׂרָאֵל רַק אִם-יִשְׁמְרוּ בָנֶיךָ אֶת-דַּרְכָּם לָלֶכֶת בְּתוֹרָתִי כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָלַכְתָּ לְפָנָֽי׃
Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
וְאַתָּה תִּשְׁמַע מִן-הַשָּׁמַיִם מְכוֹן שִׁבְתֶּךָ וְסָלַחְתָּ וְנָֽתַתָּה לָאִישׁ כְּכָל-דְּרָכָיו אֲשֶׁר תֵּדַע אֶת-לְבָבוֹ כִּי אַתָּה לְבַדְּךָ יָדַעְתָּ אֶת-לְבַב בְּנֵי הָֽאָדָֽם׃
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
וְכֹל׀ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רֹאִים בְּרֶדֶת הָאֵשׁ וּכְבוֹד יְהוָה עַל-הַבָּיִת וַיִּכְרְעוּ אַפַּיִם אַרְצָה עַל-הָרִֽצְפָה וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ וְהֹדוֹת לַֽיהוָה כִּי טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
וְהֶֽעָרִים אֲשֶׁר נָתַן חוּרָם לִשְׁלֹמֹה בָּנָה שְׁלֹמֹה אֹתָם וַיּוֹשֶׁב שָׁם אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
That the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.
מִן-בְּנֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר נֽוֹתְרוּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-כִלּוּם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּֽעֲלֵם שְׁלֹמֹה לְמַס עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
But of their children, who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, them did Solomon make to pay tribute until this day.
וּמִן-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-נָתַן שְׁלֹמֹה לַֽעֲבָדִים לִמְלַאכְתּוֹ כִּי-הֵמָּה אַנְשֵׁי מִלְחָמָה וְשָׂרֵי שָֽׁלִישָׁיו וְשָׂרֵי רִכְבּוֹ וּפָֽרָשָֽׁיו׃
But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and captains of his chariots and horsemen.
וּשְׁאָר דִּבְרֵי שְׁלֹמֹה הָרִֽאשֹׁנִים וְהָאַחֲרוֹנִים הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-דִּבְרֵי נָתָן הַנָּבִיא וְעַל-נְבוּאַת אֲחִיָּה הַשִּֽׁילוֹנִי וּבַֽחֲזוֹת (יעדי) יֶעְדּוֹ הַֽחֹזֶה עַל-יָֽרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָֽט׃
Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
וַיִּשְׁכַּב שְׁלֹמֹה עִם-אֲבֹתָיו וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻהוּ בְּעִיר דָּוִיד אָבִיו וַיִּמְלֹךְ רְחַבְעָם בְּנוֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
וַיְהִי כִּשְׁמֹעַ יָֽרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט וְהוּא בְמִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר בָּרַח מִפְּנֵי שְׁלֹמֹה הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיָּשָׁב יָֽרָבְעָם מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard it, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
וְלֹֽא-שָׁמַע הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל-הָעָם כִּֽי-הָיְתָה נְסִבָּה מֵעִם הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְמַעַן הָקִים יְהוָה אֶת-דְּבָרוֹ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר בְּיַד אֲחִיָּהוּ הַשִּֽׁלוֹנִי אֶל-יָֽרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָֽט׃
So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
וְכָל-יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי לֹֽא-שָׁמַע הַמֶּלֶךְ לָהֶם וַיָּשִׁיבוּ הָעָם אֶת-הַמֶּלֶךְ׀ לֵאמֹר מַה-לָּנוּ חֵלֶק בְּדָוִיד וְלֹֽא-נַחֲלָה בְּבֶן-יִשַׁי אִישׁ לְאֹֽהָלֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל עַתָּה רְאֵה בֵֽיתְךָ דָּוִיד וַיֵּלֶךְ כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְאֹֽהָלָֽיו׃
And when all Israel saw that the king would not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַיֹּֽשְׁבִים בְּעָרֵי יְהוּדָה וַיִּמְלֹךְ עֲלֵיהֶם רְחַבְעָֽם׃
But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
וַיִּשְׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם אֶת-הֲדֹרָם אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַמַּס וַיִּרְגְּמוּ-בוֹ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶבֶן וַיָּמֹת וְהַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם הִתְאַמֵּץ לַֽעֲלוֹת בַּמֶּרְכָּבָה לָנוּס יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
אֱמֹר אֶל-רְחַבְעָם בֶּן-שְׁלֹמֹה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וְאֶל כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּֽיהוּדָה וּבִנְיָמִן לֵאמֹֽר׃
Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
כִּֽי-עָזְבוּ הַלְוִיִּם אֶת-מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶם וַֽאֲחֻזָּתָם וַיֵּֽלְכוּ לִֽיהוּדָה וְלִירֽוּשָׁלִָם כִּֽי-הִזְנִיחָם יָֽרָבְעָם וּבָנָיו מִכַּהֵן לַֽיהוָֽה׃
For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD:
וַֽיְחַזְּקוּ אֶת-מַלְכוּת יְהוּדָה וַֽיְאַמְּצוּ אֶת-רְחַבְעָם בֶּן-שְׁלֹמֹה לְשָׁנִים שָׁלוֹשׁ כִּי הָֽלְכוּ בְּדֶרֶךְ דָּוִיד וּשְׁלֹמֹה לְשָׁנִים שָׁלֽוֹשׁ׃
So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
וַיִּֽקַּֽח-לוֹ רְחַבְעָם אִשָּׁה אֶת-מָחֲלַת (בן) בַּת-יְרִימוֹת בֶּן-דָּוִיד אֲבִיהַיִל בַּת-אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-יִשָֽׁי׃
And Rehoboam took him Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ בָּנִים אֶת-יְעוּשׁ וְאֶת-שְׁמַרְיָה וְאֶת-זָֽהַם׃
Which bare him children; Jeush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
וַיֶּֽאֱהַב רְחַבְעָם אֶת-מַֽעֲכָה בַת-אַבְשָׁלוֹם מִכָּל-נָשָׁיו וּפִילַגְשָׁיו כִּי נָשִׁים שְׁמוֹנֶֽה-עֶשְׂרֵה נָשָׂא וּפִֽילַגְשִׁים שִׁשִּׁים וַיּוֹלֶד עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמוֹנָה בָּנִים וְשִׁשִּׁים בָּנֽוֹת׃
And Rehoboam loved Maachah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
וַיַּֽעֲמֵד לָרֹאשׁ רְחַבְעָם אֶת-אֲבִיָּה בֶֽן-מַעֲכָה לְנָגִיד בְּאֶחָיו כִּי לְהַמְלִיכֽוֹ׃
And Rehoboam made Abijah the son of Maachah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
וַיָּבֶן וַיִּפְרֹץ מִכָּל-בָּנָיו לְֽכָל-אַרְצוֹת יְהוּדָה וּבִנְיָמִן לְכֹל עָרֵי הַמְּצֻרוֹת וַיִּתֵּן לָהֶם הַמָּזוֹן לָרֹב וַיִּשְׁאַל הֲמוֹן נָשִֽׁים׃
And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many wives.
וַיִּתְחַזֵּק הַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם וַיִּמְלֹךְ כִּי בֶן-אַרְבָּעִים וְאַחַת שָׁנָה רְחַבְעָם בְּמָלְכוֹ וּֽשֲׁבַע עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה׀ מָלַךְ בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם הָעִיר אֲשֶׁר-בָּחַר יְהוָה לָשׂוּם אֶת-שְׁמוֹ שָׁם מִכֹּל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ נַֽעֲמָה הָֽעַמֹּנִֽית׃
So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב רְחַבְעָם עִם-אֲבֹתָיו וַיִּקָּבֵר בְּעִיר דָּוִיד וַיִּמְלֹךְ אֲבִיָּה בְנוֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.
הֲלֹא לָכֶם לָדַעַת כִּי יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נָתַן מַמְלָכָה לְדָוִיד עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעוֹלָם לוֹ וּלְבָנָיו בְּרִית מֶֽלַח׃
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
וַיָּקָם יָֽרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָט עֶבֶד שְׁלֹמֹה בֶן-דָּוִיד וַיִּמְרֹד עַל-אֲדֹנָֽיו׃
Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord.
וַיִּקָּֽבְצוּ עָלָיו אֲנָשִׁים רֵקִים בְּנֵי בְלִיַּעַל וַיִּֽתְאַמְּצוּ עַל-רְחַבְעָם בֶּן-שְׁלֹמֹה וּרְחַבְעָם הָיָֽה נַעַר וְרַךְ-לֵבָב וְלֹא הִתְחַזַּק לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
וְעַתָּה׀ אַתֶּם אֹֽמְרִים לְהִתְחַזֵּק לִפְנֵי מַמְלֶכֶת יְהוָה בְּיַד בְּנֵי דָוִיד וְאַתֶּם הָמוֹן רָב וְעִמָּכֶם עֶגְלֵי זָהָב אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לָכֶם יָֽרָבְעָם לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃
And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
הֲלֹא הִדַּחְתֶּם אֶת-כֹּֽהֲנֵי יְהוָה אֶת-בְּנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְהַלְוִיִּם וַתַּֽעֲשׂוּ לָכֶם כֹּֽהֲנִים כְּעַמֵּי הָֽאֲרָצוֹת כָּל-הַבָּא לְמַלֵּא יָדוֹ בְּפַר בֶּן-בָּקָר וְאֵילִם שִׁבְעָה וְהָיָה כֹהֵן לְלֹא אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
וַֽאֲנַחְנוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְלֹא עֲזַבְנֻהוּ וְכֹהֲנִים מְשָֽׁרְתִים לַֽיהוָה בְּנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְהַלְוִיִּם בַּמְלָֽאכֶת׃
But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:
וְהִנֵּה עִמָּנוּ בָרֹאשׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִים׀ וְכֹֽהֲנָיו וַחֲצֹֽצְרוֹת הַתְּרוּעָה לְהָרִיעַ עֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אַל-תִּלָּחֲמוּ עִם-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵֽי-אֲבֹתֵיכֶם כִּי-לֹא תַצְלִֽיחוּ׃
And, behold, God himself is with us for our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORD God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.
וַיָּנוּסוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִפְּנֵי יְהוּדָה וַיִּתְּנֵם אֱלֹהִים בְּיָדָֽם׃
And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.
וַיִּכָּֽנְעוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּעֵת הַהִיא וַיֶּֽאֶמְצוּ בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה כִּי נִשְׁעֲנוּ עַל-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.
וַיִּתְחַזֵּק אֲבִיָּהוּ וַיִּשָּׂא-לוֹ נָשִׁים אַרְבַּע עֶשְׂרֵה וַיּוֹלֶד עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנַיִם בָּנִים וְשֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה בָּנֽוֹת׃
But Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat twenty and two sons, and sixteen daughters.
וַיִּשְׁכַּב אֲבִיָּה עִם-אֲבֹתָיו וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ בְּעִיר דָּוִיד וַיִּמְלֹךְ אָסָא בְנוֹ תַּחְתָּיו בְּיָמָיו שָֽׁקְטָה הָאָרֶץ עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִֽים׃
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
וַֽעֲזַרְיָהוּ בֶּן-עוֹדֵד הָֽיְתָה עָלָיו רוּחַ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
וַיִּמְלֹךְ יְהֽוֹשָׁפָט בְּנוֹ תַּחְתָּיו וַיִּתְחַזֵּק עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
וְעַל-יָדוֹ עֲמַסְיָה בֶן-זִכְרִי הַמִּתְנַדֵּב לַֽיהוָה וְעִמּוֹ מָאתַיִם אֶלֶף גִּבּוֹר חָֽיִל׃
And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ-יִשְׂרָאֵל׀ אֶֽל-יְהוֹשָׁפָט עוֹד אִישׁ-אֶחָד לִדְרוֹשׁ אֶת-יְהוָה מֵֽאֹתוֹ וַֽאֲנִי שְׂנֵאתִיהוּ כִּֽי-אֵינֶנּוּ מִתְנַבֵּא עָלַי לְטוֹבָה כִּי כָל-יָמָיו לְרָעָה הוּא מִיכָיְהוּ בֶן-יִמְלָא וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוֹשָׁפָט אַל-יֹאמַר הַמֶּלֶךְ כֵּֽן׃
And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
וַיִּקְרָא מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-סָרִיס אֶחָד וַיֹּאמֶר מַהֵר (מיכהו) מִיכָיְהוּ בֶן-יִמְלָֽא׃
And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
