וַיְכַל יַֽעֲקֹב לְצַוֹּת אֶת-בָּנָיו וַיֶּֽאֱסֹף רַגְלָיו אֶל-הַמִּטָּה וַיִּגְוַע וַיֵּאָסֶף אֶל-עַמָּֽיו׃
And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ בָנָיו לוֹ כֵּן כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּֽם׃
And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them:
וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֹתוֹ בָנָיו אַרְצָה כְּנַעַן וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ בִּמְעָרַת שְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה אֲשֶׁר קָנָה אַבְרָהָם אֶת-הַשָּׂדֶה לַֽאֲחֻזַּת-קֶבֶר מֵאֵת עֶפְרֹן הַֽחִתִּי עַל-פְּנֵי מַמְרֵֽא׃
For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.
וַיַּרְא יוֹסֵף לְאֶפְרַיִם בְּנֵי שִׁלֵּשִׁים גַּם בְּנֵי מָכִיר בֶּן-מְנַשֶּׁה יֻלְּדוּ עַל-בִּרְכֵּי יוֹסֵֽף׃
And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation: the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
וַיַּשְׁבַּע יוֹסֵף אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר פָּקֹד יִפְקֹד אֱלֹהִים אֶתְכֶם וְהַֽעֲלִתֶם אֶת-עַצְמֹתַי מִזֶּֽה׃
And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.
וַיָּמָת יוֹסֵף בֶּן-מֵאָה וָעֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים וַיַּֽחַנְטוּ אֹתוֹ וַיִּישֶׂם בָּֽאָרוֹן בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַבָּאִים מִצְרָיְמָה אֵת יַֽעֲקֹב אִישׁ וּבֵיתוֹ בָּֽאוּ׃
Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל פָּרוּ וַֽיִּשְׁרְצוּ וַיִּרְבּוּ וַיַּֽעַצְמוּ בִּמְאֹד מְאֹד וַתִּמָּלֵא הָאָרֶץ אֹתָֽם׃
And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל-עַמּוֹ הִנֵּה עַם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רַב וְעָצוּם מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
וְכַֽאֲשֶׁר יְעַנּוּ אֹתוֹ כֵּן יִרְבֶּה וְכֵן יִפְרֹץ וַיָּקֻצוּ מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
וַיַּֽעֲבִדוּ מִצְרַיִם אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּפָֽרֶךְ׃
And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
וַיֹּאמֶר בְּיַלֶּדְכֶן אֶת-הָֽעִבְרִיּוֹת וּרְאִיתֶן עַל-הָֽאָבְנָיִם אִם-בֵּן הוּא וַֽהֲמִתֶּן אֹתוֹ וְאִם-בַּת הִוא וָחָֽיָה׃
And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
וַיְצַו פַּרְעֹה לְכָל-עַמּוֹ לֵאמֹר כָּל-הַבֵּן הַיִּלּוֹד הַיְאֹרָה תַּשְׁלִיכֻהוּ וְכָל-הַבַּת תְּחַיּֽוּן׃
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
וַתַּהַר הָֽאִשָּׁה וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַתֵּרֶא אֹתוֹ כִּי-טוֹב הוּא וַֽתִּצְפְּנֵהוּ שְׁלֹשָׁה יְרָחִֽים׃
And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
וַיִּגְדַּל הַיֶּלֶד וַתְּבִאֵהוּ לְבַת-פַּרְעֹה וַֽיְהִי-לָהּ לְבֵן וַתִּקְרָא שְׁמוֹ מֹשֶׁה וַתֹּאמֶר כִּי מִן-הַמַּיִם מְשִׁיתִֽהוּ׃
And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַיִּקְרָא אֶת-שְׁמוֹ גֵּֽרְשֹׁם כִּי אָמַר גֵּר הָיִיתִי בְּאֶרֶץ נָכְרִיָּֽה׃
And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
וַיְהִי בַיָּמִים הָֽרַבִּים הָהֵם וַיָּמָת מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם וַיֵּאָֽנְחוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן-הָֽעֲבֹדָה וַיִּזְעָקוּ וַתַּעַל שַׁוְעָתָם אֶל-הָֽאֱלֹהִים מִן-הָֽעֲבֹדָֽה׃
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֵּדַע אֱלֹהִֽים׃
And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.
וְעַתָּה הִנֵּה צַֽעֲקַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּאָה אֵלָי וְגַם-רָאִיתִי אֶת-הַלַּחַץ אֲשֶׁר מִצְרַיִם לֹֽחֲצִים אֹתָֽם׃
Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
וְעַתָּה לְכָה וְאֶֽשְׁלָחֲךָ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וְהוֹצֵא אֶת-עַמִּי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-הָאֱלֹהִים מִי אָנֹכִי כִּי אֵלֵךְ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וְכִי אוֹצִיא אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-הָֽאֱלֹהִים הִנֵּה אָֽנֹכִי בָא אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתִּי לָהֶם אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם שְׁלָחַנִי אֲלֵיכֶם וְאָֽמְרוּ-לִי מַה-שְּׁמוֹ מָה אֹמַר אֲלֵהֶֽם׃
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל-מֹשֶׁה אֶֽהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶֽהְיֶה וַיֹּאמֶר כֹּה תֹאמַר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶֽהְיֶה שְׁלָחַנִי אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
וַיֹּאמֶר עוֹד אֱלֹהִים אֶל-מֹשֶׁה כֹּֽה-תֹאמַר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶם אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק וֵֽאלֹהֵי יַֽעֲקֹב שְׁלָחַנִי אֲלֵיכֶם זֶה-שְּׁמִי לְעֹלָם וְזֶה זִכְרִי לְדֹר דֹּֽר׃
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
וְשָֽׁאֲלָה אִשָּׁה מִשְּׁכֶנְתָּהּ וּמִגָּרַת בֵּיתָהּ כְּלֵי-כֶסֶף וּכְלֵי זָהָב וּשְׂמָלֹת וְשַׂמְתֶּם עַל-בְּנֵיכֶם וְעַל-בְּנֹתֵיכֶם וְנִצַּלְתֶּם אֶת-מִצְרָֽיִם׃
But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-אִשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת-בָּנָיו וַיַּרְכִּבֵם עַֽל-הַחֲמֹר וַיָּשָׁב אַרְצָה מִצְרָיִם וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּה הָֽאֱלֹהִים בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה בְּנִי בְכֹרִי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:
וָֽאֹמַר אֵלֶיךָ שַׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנִי וְיַֽעַבְדֵנִי וַתְּמָאֵן לְשַׁלְּחוֹ הִנֵּה אָֽנֹכִי הֹרֵג אֶת-בִּנְךָ בְּכֹרֶֽךָ׃
And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
וַתִּקַּח צִפֹּרָה צֹר וַתִּכְרֹת אֶת-עָרְלַת בְּנָהּ וַתַּגַּע לְרַגְלָיו וַתֹּאמֶר כִּי חֲתַן-דָּמִים אַתָּה לִֽי׃
Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.
וַיֵּלֶךְ מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן וַיַּאַסְפוּ אֶת-כָּל-זִקְנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
וַֽיַּאֲמֵן הָעָם וַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ כִּֽי-פָקַד יְהוָה אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְכִי רָאָה אֶת-עָנְיָם וַֽיִּקְּדוּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּֽוּ׃
And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
וַיֻּכּוּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר-שָׂמוּ עֲלֵהֶם נֹֽגְשֵׂי פַרְעֹה לֵאמֹר מַדּוּעַ לֹא כִלִּיתֶם חָקְכֶם לִלְבֹּן כִּתְמוֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם גַּם-תְּמוֹל גַּם-הַיּֽוֹם׃
And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?
וַיָּבֹאוּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּצְעֲקוּ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה לֵאמֹר לָמָּה תַֽעֲשֶׂה כֹה לַֽעֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃
Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
וַיִּרְאוּ שֹֽׁטְרֵי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֹתָם בְּרָע לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-תִגְרְעוּ מִלִּבְנֵיכֶם דְּבַר-יוֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃
And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
וְגַם׀ אֲנִי שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶֽת-נַאֲקַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר מִצְרַיִם מַֽעֲבִדִים אֹתָם וָֽאֶזְכֹּר אֶת-בְּרִיתִֽי׃
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
לָכֵן אֱמֹר לִבְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲנִי יְהוָה וְהֽוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מִתַּחַת סִבְלֹת מִצְרַיִם וְהִצַּלְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מֵעֲבֹֽדָתָם וְגָֽאַלְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בִּזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה וּבִשְׁפָטִים גְּדֹלִֽים׃
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה כֵּן אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא שָֽׁמְעוּ אֶל-מֹשֶׁה מִקֹּצֶר רוּחַ וּמֵֽעֲבֹדָה קָשָֽׁה׃
And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
בֹּא דַבֵּר אֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם וִֽישַׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽאַרְצֽוֹ׃
Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לֵאמֹר הֵן בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹֽא-שָׁמְעוּ אֵלַי וְאֵיךְ יִשְׁמָעֵנִי פַרְעֹה וַֽאֲנִי עֲרַל שְׂפָתָֽיִם׃
And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן וַיְצַוֵּם אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם לְהוֹצִיא אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
אֵלֶּה רָאשֵׁי בֵית-אֲבֹתָם בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵן בְּכֹר יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲנוֹךְ וּפַלּוּא חֶצְרֹן וְכַרְמִי אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת רְאוּבֵֽן׃
These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these be the families of Reuben.
וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן יְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין וְאֹהַד וְיָכִין וְצֹחַר וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִית אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃
And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon.
וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת בְּנֵֽי-לֵוִי לְתֹלְדֹתָם גֵּֽרְשׁוֹן וּקְהָת וּמְרָרִי וּשְׁנֵי חַיֵּי לֵוִי שֶׁבַע וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָֽה׃
And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.
בְּנֵי גֵֽרְשׁוֹן לִבְנִי וְשִׁמְעִי לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃
The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families.
וּבְנֵי קְהָת עַמְרָם וְיִצְהָר וְחֶבְרוֹן וְעֻזִּיאֵל וּשְׁנֵי חַיֵּי קְהָת שָׁלֹשׁ וּשְׁלֹשִׁים וּמְאַת שָׁנָֽה׃
And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three years.
וּבְנֵי מְרָרִי מַחְלִי וּמוּשִׁי אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַלֵּוִי לְתֹֽלְדֹתָֽם׃
And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families of Levi according to their generations.
וּבְנֵי עֻזִּיאֵל מִֽישָׁאֵל וְאֶלְצָפָן וְסִתְרִֽי׃
And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri.
וּבְנֵי קֹרַח אַסִּיר וְאֶלְקָנָה וַאֲבִֽיאָסָף אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקָּרְחִֽי׃
And the sons of Korah; Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph: these are the families of the Korhites.
וְאֶלְעָזָר בֶּֽן-אַהֲרֹן לָקַֽח-לוֹ מִבְּנוֹת פּֽוּטִיאֵל לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת-פִּֽינְחָס אֵלֶּה רָאשֵׁי אֲבוֹת הַלְוִיִּם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃
And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.
הוּא אַֽהֲרֹן וּמֹשֶׁה אֲשֶׁר אָמַר יְהוָה לָהֶם הוֹצִיאוּ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם עַל-צִבְאֹתָֽם׃
These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.
הֵם הַֽמְדַבְּרִים אֶל-פַּרְעֹה מֶֽלֶךְ-מִצְרַיִם לְהוֹצִיא אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָיִם הוּא מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹֽן׃
These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron.
אַתָּה תְדַבֵּר אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר אֲצַוֶּךָּ וְאַֽהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ יְדַבֵּר אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וְשִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽאַרְצֽוֹ׃
Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.
וְלֹֽא-יִשְׁמַע אֲלֵכֶם פַּרְעֹה וְנָֽתַתִּי אֶת-יָדִי בְּמִצְרָיִם וְהֽוֹצֵאתִי אֶת-צִבְאֹתַי אֶת-עַמִּי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בִּשְׁפָטִים גְּדֹלִֽים׃
But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
וְיָֽדְעוּ מִצְרַיִם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה בִּנְטֹתִי אֶת-יָדִי עַל-מִצְרָיִם וְהֽוֹצֵאתִי אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָֽם׃
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
וּמֹשֶׁה בֶּן-שְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה וְאַֽהֲרֹן בֶּן-שָׁלֹשׁ וּשְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה בְּדַבְּרָם אֶל-פַּרְעֹֽה׃
And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.
וְהִפְלָה יְהוָה בֵּין מִקְנֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבֵין מִקְנֵה מִצְרָיִם וְלֹא יָמוּת מִכָּל-לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל דָּבָֽר׃
And the LORD shall sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel.
וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוָה אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה מִֽמָּחֳרָת וַיָּמָת כֹּל מִקְנֵה מִצְרָיִם וּמִמִּקְנֵה בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא-מֵת אֶחָֽד׃
And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
רַק בְּאֶרֶץ גֹּשֶׁן אֲשֶׁר-שָׁם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא הָיָה בָּרָֽד׃
Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
וַֽיֶּחֱזַק לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא שִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה בְּיַד-מֹשֶֽׁה׃
And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.
וּלְמַעַן תְּסַפֵּר בְּאָזְנֵי בִנְךָ וּבֶן-בִּנְךָ אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִתְעַלַּלְתִּי בְּמִצְרַיִם וְאֶת-אֹֽתֹתַי אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתִּי בָם וִֽידַעְתֶּם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָֽה׃
And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה בִּנְעָרֵינוּ וּבִזְקֵנֵינוּ נֵלֵךְ בְּבָנֵינוּ וּבִבְנוֹתֵנוּ בְּצֹאנֵנוּ וּבִבְקָרֵנוּ נֵלֵךְ כִּי חַג-יְהוָה לָֽנוּ׃
And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.
וַיְחַזֵּק יְהוָה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא שִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
לֹֽא-רָאוּ אִישׁ אֶת-אָחִיו וְלֹא-קָמוּ אִישׁ מִתַּחְתָּיו שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים וּֽלְכָל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הָיָה אוֹר בְּמֽוֹשְׁבֹתָֽם׃
They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
וּלְכֹל׀ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא יֶֽחֱרַץ-כֶּלֶב לְשֹׁנוֹ לְמֵאִישׁ וְעַד-בְּהֵמָה לְמַעַן תֵּֽדְעוּן אֲשֶׁר יַפְלֶה יְהוָה בֵּין מִצְרַיִם וּבֵין יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.
וּמֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן עָשׂוּ אֶת-כָּל-הַמֹּֽפְתִים הָאֵלֶּה לִפְנֵי פַרְעֹה וַיְחַזֵּק יְהוָה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹֽא-שִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽאַרְצֽוֹ׃
And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
שֶׂה תָמִים זָכָר בֶּן-שָׁנָה יִֽהְיֶה לָכֶם מִן-הַכְּבָשִׂים וּמִן-הָֽעִזִּים תִּקָּֽחוּ׃
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה לְחָק-לְךָ וּלְבָנֶיךָ עַד-עוֹלָֽם׃
And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
וְהָיָה כִּֽי-יֹאמְרוּ אֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵיכֶם מָה הָֽעֲבֹדָה הַזֹּאת לָכֶֽם׃
And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּם זֶֽבַח-פֶּסַח הוּא לַֽיהוָה אֲשֶׁר פָּסַח עַל-בָּתֵּי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמִצְרַיִם בְּנָגְפּוֹ אֶת-מִצְרַיִם וְאֶת-בָּתֵּינוּ הִצִּיל וַיִּקֹּד הָעָם וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּֽוּ׃
That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן כֵּן עָשֽׂוּ׃
And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
וַיִּקְרָא לְמֹשֶׁה וּֽלְאַהֲרֹן לַיְלָה וַיֹּאמֶר קוּמוּ צְּאוּ מִתּוֹךְ עַמִּי גַּם-אַתֶּם גַּם-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּלְכוּ עִבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה כְּדַבֶּרְכֶֽם׃
And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
וּבְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל עָשׂוּ כִּדְבַר מֹשֶׁה וַֽיִּשְׁאֲלוּ מִמִּצְרַיִם כְּלֵי-כֶסֶף וּכְלֵי זָהָב וּשְׂמָלֹֽת׃
And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment:
וַיִּסְעוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽרַעְמְסֵס סֻכֹּתָה כְּשֵׁשׁ-מֵאוֹת אֶלֶף רַגְלִי הַגְּבָרִים לְבַד מִטָּֽף׃
And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
וּמוֹשַׁב בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר יָֽשְׁבוּ בְּמִצְרָיִם שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת שָׁנָֽה׃
Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
לֵיל שִׁמֻּרִים הוּא לַֽיהוָה לְהֽוֹצִיאָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם הֽוּא-הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה לַֽיהוָה שִׁמֻּרִים לְכָל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְדֹֽרֹתָֽם׃
It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן זֹאת חֻקַּת הַפָּסַח כָּל-בֶּן-נֵכָר לֹא-יֹאכַל בּֽוֹ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:
וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶֽת-אַהֲרֹן כֵּן עָשֽׂוּ׃
Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.
וַיְהִי בְּעֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה הוֹצִיא יְהוָה אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם עַל-צִבְאֹתָֽם׃
And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
קַדֶּשׁ-לִי כָל-בְּכוֹר פֶּטֶר כָּל-רֶחֶם בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּֽאָדָם וּבַבְּהֵמָה לִי הֽוּא׃
Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
וְהִגַּדְתָּ לְבִנְךָ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא לֵאמֹר בַּֽעֲבוּר זֶה עָשָׂה יְהוָה לִי בְּצֵאתִי מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
וְכָל-פֶּטֶר חֲמֹר תִּפְדֶּה בְשֶׂה וְאִם-לֹא תִפְדֶּה וַֽעֲרַפְתּוֹ וְכֹל בְּכוֹר אָדָם בְּבָנֶיךָ תִּפְדֶּֽה׃
And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.
וְהָיָה כִּֽי-יִשְׁאָלְךָ בִנְךָ מָחָר לֵאמֹר מַה-זֹּאת וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו בְּחֹזֶק יָד הֽוֹצִיאָנוּ יְהוָה מִמִּצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִֽים׃
And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
וַיְהִי כִּֽי-הִקְשָׁה פַרְעֹה לְשַׁלְּחֵנוּ וַיַּֽהֲרֹג יְהוָֹה כָּל-בְּכוֹר בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם מִבְּכֹר אָדָם וְעַד-בְּכוֹר בְּהֵמָה עַל-כֵּן אֲנִי זֹבֵחַ לַֽיהוָה כָּל-פֶּטֶר רֶחֶם הַזְּכָרִים וְכָל-בְּכוֹר בָּנַי אֶפְדֶּֽה׃
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
וַיַּסֵּב אֱלֹהִים׀ אֶת-הָעָם דֶּרֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּר יַם-סוּף וַֽחֲמֻשִׁים עָלוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-עַצְמוֹת יוֹסֵף עִמּוֹ כִּי הַשְׁבֵּעַ הִשְׁבִּיעַ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר פָּקֹד יִפְקֹד אֱלֹהִים אֶתְכֶם וְהַֽעֲלִיתֶם אֶת-עַצְמֹתַי מִזֶּה אִתְּכֶֽם׃
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up away my bones hence with you.
דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיָשֻׁבוּ וְיַֽחֲנוּ לִפְנֵי פִּי הַֽחִירֹת בֵּין מִגְדֹּל וּבֵין הַיָּם לִפְנֵי בַּעַל צְפֹן נִכְחוֹ תַֽחֲנוּ עַל-הַיָּֽם׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
וְאָמַר פַּרְעֹה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נְבֻכִים הֵם בָּאָרֶץ סָגַר עֲלֵיהֶם הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃
For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
וַיְחַזֵּק יְהוָֹה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם וַיִּרְדֹּף אַֽחֲרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יֹֽצְאִים בְּיָד רָמָֽה׃
And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
וּפַרְעֹה הִקְרִיב וַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-עֵֽינֵיהֶם וְהִנֵּה מִצְרַיִם׀ נֹסֵעַ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וַיִּֽירְאוּ מְאֹד וַיִּצְעֲקוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-יְהוָֽה׃
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה מַה-תִּצְעַק אֵלָי דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִסָּֽעוּ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
וְאַתָּה הָרֵם אֶֽת-מַטְּךָ וּנְטֵה אֶת-יָֽדְךָ עַל-הַיָּם וּבְקָעֵהוּ וְיָבֹאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּם בַּיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
וַיָּבֹאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּם בַּיַּבָּשָׁה וְהַמַּיִם לָהֶם חוֹמָה מִֽימִינָם וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם׃
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הָֽלְכוּ בַיַּבָּשָׁה בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּם וְהַמַּיִם לָהֶם חֹמָה מִֽימִינָם וּמִשְּׂמֹאלָֽם׃
But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
אָז יָשִֽׁיר-מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-הַשִּׁירָה הַזֹּאת לַֽיהוָה וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ לֵאמֹר אָשִׁירָה לַֽיהוָה כִּֽי-גָאֹה גָּאָה סוּס וְרֹֽכְבוֹ רָמָה בַיָּֽם׃
Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
כִּי בָא סוּס פַּרְעֹה בְּרִכְבּוֹ וּבְפָֽרָשָׁיו בַּיָּם וַיָּשֶׁב יְהוָה עֲלֵהֶם אֶת-מֵי הַיָּם וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הָֽלְכוּ בַיַּבָּשָׁה בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּֽם׃
For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
וַיִּסְעוּ מֵֽאֵילִם וַיָּבֹאוּ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-מִדְבַּר-סִין אֲשֶׁר בֵּין-אֵילִם וּבֵין סִינָי בַּֽחֲמִשָּׁה עָשָׂר יוֹם לַחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי לְצֵאתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
(וילינו) וַיִּלּוֹנוּ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַֽל-אַהֲרֹן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֲלֵהֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִֽי-יִתֵּן מוּתֵנוּ בְיַד-יְהוָה בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בְּשִׁבְתֵּנוּ עַל-סִיר הַבָּשָׂר בְּאָכְלֵנוּ לֶחֶם לָשֹׂבַע כִּֽי-הוֹצֵאתֶם אֹתָנוּ אֶל-הַמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה לְהָמִית אֶת-כָּל-הַקָּהָל הַזֶּה בָּֽרָעָֽב׃
And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן אֶֽל-כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֶרֶב וִֽידַעְתֶּם כִּי יְהוָה הוֹצִיא אֶתְכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the LORD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
