וּלְזֶבַח הַשְּׁלָמִים בָּקָר שְׁנַיִם אֵילִם חֲמִשָּׁה עַתֻּדִים חֲמִשָּׁה כְּבָשִׂים בְּנֵֽי-שָׁנָה חֲמִשָּׁה זֶה קָרְבַּן אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָֽן׃
And for a sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he goats, five lambs of the first year: this was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan.
כָּל-הַבָּקָר לָֽעֹלָה שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר פָּרִים אֵילִם שְׁנֵים-עָשָׂר כְּבָשִׂים בְּנֵֽי-שָׁנָה שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר וּמִנְחָתָם וּשְׂעִירֵי עִזִּים שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר לְחַטָּֽאת׃
All the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bullocks, the rams twelve, the lambs of the first year twelve, with their meat offering: and the kids of the goats for sin offering twelve.
וְכֹל בְּקַר׀ זֶבַח הַשְּׁלָמִים עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה פָּרִים אֵילִם שִׁשִּׁים עַתֻּדִים שִׁשִּׁים כְּבָשִׂים בְּנֵֽי-שָׁנָה שִׁשִּׁים זֹאת חֲנֻכַּת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ אַֽחֲרֵי הִמָּשַׁח אֹתֽוֹ׃
And all the oxen for the sacrifice of the peace offerings were twenty and four bullocks, the rams sixty, the he goats sixty, the lambs of the first year sixty. This was the dedication of the altar, after that it was anointed.
קַח אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְטִֽהַרְתָּ אֹתָֽם׃
Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
וְלָֽקְחוּ פַּר בֶּן-בָּקָר וּמִנְחָתוֹ סֹלֶת בְּלוּלָה בַשָּׁמֶן וּפַר-שֵׁנִי בֶן-בָּקָר תִּקַּח לְחַטָּֽאת׃
Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
וְהִקְרַבְתָּ אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם לִפְנֵי אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְהִקְהַלְתָּ אֶֽת-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather together: the whole assembly of the children of Israel
וְהִקְרַבְתָּ אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וְסָֽמְכוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-יְדֵיהֶם עַל-הַלְוִיִּֽם׃
And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
וְהֵנִיף אַֽהֲרֹן אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם תְּנוּפָה לִפְנֵי יְהוָה מֵאֵת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהָיוּ לַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-עֲבֹדַת יְהוָֽה׃
And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
וְהַֽעֲמַדְתָּ אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם לִפְנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְלִפְנֵי בָנָיו וְהֵֽנַפְתָּ אֹתָם תְּנוּפָה לַֽיהוָֽה׃
And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
וְהִבְדַּלְתָּ אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהָיוּ לִי הַלְוִיִּֽם׃
Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
כִּי נְתֻנִים נְתֻנִים הֵמָּה לִי מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תַּחַת פִּטְרַת כָּל-רֶחֶם בְּכוֹר כֹּל מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָקַחְתִּי אֹתָם לִֽי׃
For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
כִּי לִי כָל-בְּכוֹר בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּֽאָדָם וּבַבְּהֵמָה בְּיוֹם הַכֹּתִי כָל-בְּכוֹר בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם הִקְדַּשְׁתִּי אֹתָם לִֽי׃
For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
וָֽאֶקַּח אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם תַּחַת כָּל-בְּכוֹר בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
וָֽאֶתְּנָה אֶת-הַלְוִיִּם נְתֻנִים׀ לְאַֽהֲרֹן וּלְבָנָיו מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-עֲבֹדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּלְכַפֵּר עַל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא יִֽהְיֶה בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נֶגֶף בְּגֶשֶׁת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃
And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן וְכָל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לַלְוִיִּם כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה לַלְוִיִּם כֵּן-עָשׂוּ לָהֶם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
וְאַֽחֲרֵי-כֵן בָּאוּ הַלְוִיִּם לַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-עֲבֹֽדָתָם בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לִפְנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְלִפְנֵי בָנָיו כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה עַל-הַלְוִיִּם כֵּן עָשׂוּ לָהֶֽם׃
And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
זֹאת אֲשֶׁר לַלְוִיִּם מִבֶּן חָמֵשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה יָבוֹא לִצְבֹא צָבָא בַּֽעֲבֹדַת אֹהֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
וּמִבֶּן חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה יָשׁוּב מִצְּבָא הָֽעֲבֹדָה וְלֹא יַֽעֲבֹד עֽוֹד׃
And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
וְיַֽעֲשׂוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-הַפָּסַח בְּמֽוֹעֲדֽוֹ׃
Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַֽעֲשֹׂת הַפָּֽסַח׃
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ אֶת-הַפֶּסַח בָּֽרִאשׁוֹן בְּאַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר יוֹם לַחֹדֶשׁ בֵּין הָֽעַרְבַּיִם בְּמִדְבַּר סִינָי כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה כֵּן עָשׂוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים הָהֵמָּה אֵלָיו אֲנַחְנוּ טְמֵאִים לְנֶפֶשׁ אָדָם לָמָּה נִגָּרַע לְבִלְתִּי הַקְרִיב אֶת-קָרְבַּן יְהוָה בְּמֹעֲדוֹ בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִישׁ אִישׁ כִּי-יִהְיֶֽה-טָמֵא׀ לָנֶפֶשׁ אוֹ בְדֶרֶךְ רְחֹקָהׄ לָכֶם אוֹ לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם וְעָשָׂה פֶסַח לַֽיהוָֽה׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
וּלְפִי הֵֽעָלוֹת הֶֽעָנָן מֵעַל הָאֹהֶל וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן יִסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבִמְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכָּן-שָׁם הֶֽעָנָן שָׁם יַֽחֲנוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
עַל-פִּי יְהוָה יִסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל-פִּי יְהוָה יַֽחֲנוּ כָּל-יְמֵי אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכֹּן הֶֽעָנָן עַל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן יַֽחֲנֽוּ׃
At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
וּבְהַֽאֲרִיךְ הֶֽעָנָן עַל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן יָמִים רַבִּים וְשָֽׁמְרוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-מִשְׁמֶרֶת יְהוָה וְלֹא יִסָּֽעוּ׃
And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.
אֽוֹ-יֹמַיִם אוֹ-חֹדֶשׁ אֽוֹ-יָמִים בְּהַֽאֲרִיךְ הֶֽעָנָן עַל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן לִשְׁכֹּן עָלָיו יַֽחֲנוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא יִסָּעוּ וּבְהֵעָֽלֹתוֹ יִסָּֽעוּ׃
Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
וּבְנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֲנִים יִתְקְעוּ בַּחֲצֹֽצְרוֹת וְהָיוּ לָכֶם לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם לְדֹרֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃
And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
וַיִּסְעוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמַסְעֵיהֶם מִמִּדְבַּר סִינָי וַיִּשְׁכֹּן הֶֽעָנָן בְּמִדְבַּר פָּארָֽן׃
And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
וַיִּסַּע דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה בְנֵֽי-יְהוּדָה בָּרִֽאשֹׁנָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְעַל-צְבָאוֹ נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן-עַמִּֽינָדָֽב׃
In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי יִשָׂשכָר נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָֽר׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹֽן׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
וְהוּרַד הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְנָֽסְעוּ בְנֵֽי-גֵרְשׁוֹן וּבְנֵי מְרָרִי נֹֽשְׂאֵי הַמִּשְׁכָּֽן׃
And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
וְנָסַע דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה רְאוּבֵן לְצִבְאֹתָם וְעַל-צְבָאוֹ אֱלִיצוּר בֶּן-שְׁדֵיאֽוּר׃
And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻֽמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְנֵי-גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-דְּעוּאֵֽל׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
וְנָסַע דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה בְנֵֽי-אֶפְרַיִם לְצִבְאֹתָם וְעַל-צְבָאוֹ אֱלִֽישָׁמָע בֶּן-עַמִּיהֽוּד׃
And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה גַּמְלִיאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָה-צֽוּר
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי בִנְיָמִן אֲבִידָן בֶּן-גִּדְעוֹנִֽי׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
וְנָסַע דֶּגֶל מַֽחֲנֵה בְנֵי-דָן מְאַסֵּף לְכָל-הַֽמַּחֲנֹת לְצִבְאֹתָם וְעַל-צְבָאוֹ אֲחִיעֶזֶר בֶּן-עַמִּֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי אָשֵׁר פַּגְעִיאֵל בֶּן-עָכְרָֽן׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי נַפְתָּלִי אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָֽן׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
אֵלֶּה מַסְעֵי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְצִבְאֹתָם וַיִּסָּֽעוּ׃
Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה לְחֹבָב בֶּן-רְעוּאֵל הַמִּדְיָנִי חֹתֵן מֹשֶׁה נֹֽסְעִים׀ אֲנַחְנוּ אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר אָמַר יְהוָה אֹתוֹ אֶתֵּן לָכֶם לְכָה אִתָּנוּ וְהֵטַבְנוּ לָךְ כִּֽי-יְהוָה דִּבֶּר-טוֹב עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
וְהָֽאסַפְסֻף אֲשֶׁר בְּקִרְבּוֹ הִתְאַוּוּ תַּֽאֲוָה וַיָּשֻׁבוּ וַיִּבְכּוּ גַּם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּאמְרוּ מִי יַֽאֲכִלֵנוּ בָּשָֽׂר׃
And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
וַיַּעַן יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן מְשָׁרֵת מֹשֶׁה מִבְּחֻרָיו וַיֹּאמַר אֲדֹנִי מֹשֶׁה כְּלָאֵֽם׃
And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
שְׁלַח-לְךָ אֲנָשִׁים וְיָתֻרוּ אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ אֶחָד אִישׁ אֶחָד לְמַטֵּה אֲבֹתָיו תִּשְׁלָחוּ כֹּל נָשִׂיא בָהֶֽם׃
Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
וַיִּשְׁלַח אֹתָם מֹשֶׁה מִמִּדְבַּר פָּארָן עַל-פִּי יְהוָה כֻּלָּם אֲנָשִׁים רָאשֵׁי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵֽמָּה׃
And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹתָם לְמַטֵּה רְאוּבֵן שַׁמּוּעַ בֶּן-זַכּֽוּר׃
And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
לְמַטֵּה יוֹסֵף לְמַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה גַּדִּי בֶּן-סוּסִֽי׃
Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
אֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת הָֽאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר-שָׁלַח מֹשֶׁה לָתוּר אֶת-הָאָרֶץ וַיִּקְרָא מֹשֶׁה לְהוֹשֵׁעַ בִּן-נוּן יְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃
These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
לַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא קָרָא נַחַל אֶשְׁכּוֹל עַל אֹדוֹת הָֽאֶשְׁכּוֹל אֲשֶׁר-כָּֽרְתוּ מִשָּׁם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן וְאֶל-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-מִדְבַּר פָּארָן קָדֵשָׁה וַיָּשִׁיבוּ אֹתָם דָּבָר וְאֶת-כָּל-הָעֵדָה וַיַּרְאוּם אֶת-פְּרִי הָאָֽרֶץ׃
And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
וַיֹּצִיאוּ דִּבַּת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תָּרוּ אֹתָהּ אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר עָבַרְנוּ בָהּ לָתוּר אֹתָהּ אֶרֶץ אֹכֶלֶת יֽוֹשְׁבֶיהָ הִוא וְכָל-הָעָם אֲשֶׁר-רָאִינוּ בְתוֹכָהּ אַנְשֵׁי מִדּֽוֹת׃
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
וְשָׁם רָאִינוּ אֶת-הַנְּפִילִים בְּנֵי עֲנָק מִן-הַנְּפִלִים וַנְּהִי בְעֵינֵינוּ כַּֽחֲגָבִים וְכֵן הָיִינוּ בְּעֵֽינֵיהֶֽם׃
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
וַיִּלֹּנוּ עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַֽל-אַהֲרֹן כֹּל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֲלֵהֶם כָּל-הָֽעֵדָה לוּ-מַתְנוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם אוֹ בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה לוּ-מָֽתְנוּ׃
And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
וַיִּפֹּל מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן עַל-פְּנֵיהֶם לִפְנֵי כָּל-קְהַל עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
וִֽיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן וְכָלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה מִן-הַתָּרִים אֶת-הָאָרֶץ קָֽרְעוּ בִּגְדֵיהֶֽם׃
And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֶל-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר עָבַרְנוּ בָהּ לָתוּר אֹתָהּ טוֹבָה הָאָרֶץ מְאֹד מְאֹֽד׃
And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ כָּל-הָעֵדָה לִרְגּוֹם אֹתָם בָּֽאֲבָנִים וּכְבוֹד יְהוָה נִרְאָה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד אֶֽל-כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.
יְהוָה אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וְרַב-חֶסֶד נֹשֵׂא עָוֹן וָפָשַׁע וְנַקֵּה לֹא יְנַקֶּה פֹּקֵד עֲוֹן אָבוֹת עַל-בָּנִים עַל-שִׁלֵּשִׁים וְעַל-רִבֵּעִֽים׃
The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
עַד-מָתַי לָֽעֵדָה הָֽרָעָה הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר הֵמָּה מַלִּינִים עָלָי אֶת-תְּלֻנּוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הֵמָּה מַלִּינִים עָלַי שָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃
How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
בַּמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה יִפְּלוּ פִגְרֵיכֶם וְכָל-פְּקֻֽדֵיכֶם לְכָל-מִסְפַּרְכֶם מִבֶּן עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וָמָעְלָה אֲשֶׁר הֲלִֽינֹתֶם עָלָֽי׃
Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
אִם-אַתֶּם תָּבֹאוּ אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי לְשַׁכֵּן אֶתְכֶם בָּהּ כִּי אִם-כָּלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה וִֽיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נֽוּן׃
Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
וּבְנֵיכֶם יִֽהְיוּ רֹעִים בַּמִּדְבָּר אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה וְנָֽשְׂאוּ אֶת-זְנֽוּתֵיכֶם עַד-תֹּם פִּגְרֵיכֶם בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
וִֽיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן וְכָלֵב בֶּן-יְפֻנֶּה חָיוּ מִן-הָֽאֲנָשִׁים הָהֵם הַֽהֹלְכִים לָתוּר אֶת-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֶֽל-כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּֽתְאַבְּלוּ הָעָם מְאֹֽד׃
And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.
דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי תָבֹאוּ אֶל-אֶרֶץ מוֹשְׁבֹתֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נֹתֵן לָכֶֽם׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,
וְכִֽי-תַעֲשֶׂה בֶן-בָּקָר עֹלָה אוֹ-זָבַח לְפַלֵּא-נֶדֶר אֽוֹ-שְׁלָמִים לַֽיהוָֽה׃
And when thou preparest a bullock for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace offerings unto the LORD:
וְהִקְרִיב עַל-בֶּן-הַבָּקָר מִנְחָה סֹלֶת שְׁלֹשָׁה עֶשְׂרֹנִים בָּלוּל בַּשֶּׁמֶן חֲצִי הַהִֽין׃
Then shall he bring with a bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil.
דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם בְּבֹֽאֲכֶם אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מֵבִיא אֶתְכֶם שָֽׁמָּה׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land whither I bring you,
וְהָיָה אִם מֵֽעֵינֵי הָֽעֵדָה נֶֽעֶשְׂתָה לִשְׁגָגָה וְעָשׂוּ כָל-הָֽעֵדָה פַּר בֶּן-בָּקָר אֶחָד לְעֹלָה לְרֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ לַֽיהוָה וּמִנְחָתוֹ וְנִסְכּוֹ כַּמִּשְׁפָּט וּשְׂעִיר-עִזִּים אֶחָד לְחַטָּֽת׃
Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.
וְכִפֶּר הַכֹּהֵן עַֽל-כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְנִסְלַח לָהֶם כִּֽי-שְׁגָגָה הִוא וְהֵם הֵבִיאוּ אֶת-קָרְבָּנָם אִשֶּׁה לַֽיהוָה וְחַטָּאתָם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה עַל-שִׁגְגָתָֽם׃
And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:
וְנִסְלַח לְכָל-עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכָם כִּי לְכָל-הָעָם בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃
And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
הָֽאֶזְרָח בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכָם תּוֹרָה אַחַת יִֽהְיֶה לָכֶם לָֽעֹשֶׂה בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃
Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.
וַיִּֽהְיוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּמִּדְבָּר וַֽיִּמְצְאוּ אִישׁ מְקֹשֵׁשׁ עֵצִים בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּֽת׃
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם וְעָשׂוּ לָהֶם צִיצִת עַל-כַּנְפֵי בִגְדֵיהֶם לְדֹֽרֹתָם וְנָֽתְנוּ עַל-צִיצִת הַכָּנָף פְּתִיל תְּכֵֽלֶת׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:
וַיִּקַּח קֹרַח בֶּן-יִצְהָר בֶּן-קְהָת בֶּן-לֵוִי וְדָתָן וַֽאֲבִירָם בְּנֵי אֱלִיאָב וְאוֹן בֶּן-פֶּלֶת בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵֽן׃
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
וַיָּקֻמוּ לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה וַֽאֲנָשִׁים מִבְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָיִם נְשִׂיאֵי עֵדָה קְרִאֵי מוֹעֵד אַנְשֵׁי-שֵֽׁם׃
And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
וּתְנוּ בָהֵן׀ אֵשׁ וְשִׂימוּ עֲלֵיהֶן׀ קְטֹרֶת לִפְנֵי יְהוָה מָחָר וְהָיָה הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר-יִבְחַר יְהוָה הוּא הַקָּדוֹשׁ רַב-לָכֶם בְּנֵי לֵוִֽי׃
And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-קֹרַח שִׁמְעוּ-נָא בְּנֵי לֵוִֽי׃
And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
וַיַּקְרֵב אֹֽתְךָ וְאֶת-כָּל-אַחֶיךָ בְנֵֽי-לֵוִי אִתָּךְ וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּם גַּם-כְּהֻנָּֽה׃
And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
וַיִּשְׁלַח מֹשֶׁה לִקְרֹא לְדָתָן וְלַֽאֲבִירָם בְּנֵי אֱלִיאָב וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ לֹא נַֽעֲלֶֽה׃
And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
וַיֵּֽעָלוּ מֵעַל מִשְׁכַּן-קֹרֶח דָּתָן וַֽאֲבִירָם מִסָּבִיב וְדָתָן וַֽאֲבִירָם יָֽצְאוּ נִצָּבִים פֶּתַח אָֽהֳלֵיהֶם וּנְשֵׁיהֶם וּבְנֵיהֶם וְטַפָּֽם׃
So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
אֱמֹר אֶל-אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַֽהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן וְיָרֵם אֶת-הַמַּחְתֹּת מִבֵּין הַשְּׂרֵפָה וְאֶת-הָאֵשׁ זְרֵה-הָלְאָה כִּי קָדֵֽשׁוּ׃
Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
אֵת מַחְתּוֹת הַֽחַטָּאִים הָאֵלֶּה בְּנַפְשֹׁתָם וְעָשׂוּ אֹתָם רִקֻּעֵי פַחִים צִפּוּי לַמִּזְבֵּחַ כִּֽי-הִקְרִיבֻם לִפְנֵֽי-יְהוָה וַיִּקְדָּשׁוּ וְיִֽהְיוּ לְאוֹת לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
זִכָּרוֹן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יִקְרַב אִישׁ זָר אֲשֶׁר לֹא מִזֶּרַע אַֽהֲרֹן הוּא לְהַקְטִיר קְטֹרֶת לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וְלֹֽא-יִהְיֶה כְקֹרַח וְכַעֲדָתוֹ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה בְּיַד-מֹשֶׁה לֽוֹ׃
To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
וַיִּלֹּנוּ כָּל-עֲדַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִֽמָּחֳרָת עַל-מֹשֶׁה וְעַֽל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר אַתֶּם הֲמִתֶּם אֶת-עַם יְהוָֽה׃
But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.
דַּבֵּר׀ אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְקַח מֵֽאִתָּם מַטֶּה מַטֶּה לְבֵית אָב מֵאֵת כָּל-נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר מַטּוֹת אִישׁ אֶת-שְׁמוֹ תִּכְתֹּב עַל-מַטֵּֽהוּ׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.
וְהָיָה הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר אֶבְחַר-בּוֹ מַטֵּהוּ יִפְרָח וַֽהֲשִׁכֹּתִי מֵֽעָלַי אֶת-תְּלֻנּוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הֵם מַלִּינִם עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
