וַיִּקְרָא יַֽעֲקֹב שֵׁם הַמָּקוֹם פְּנִיאֵל כִּֽי-רָאִיתִי אֱלֹהִים פָּנִים אֶל-פָּנִים וַתִּנָּצֵל נַפְשִֽׁי׃
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
וַיִּֽזְרַֽח-לוֹ הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר עָבַר אֶת-פְּנוּאֵל וְהוּא צֹלֵעַ עַל-יְרֵכֽוֹ׃
And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
וַיַּעַל מִשָּׁם פְּנוּאֵל וַיְדַבֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם כָּזֹאת וַיַּֽעֲנוּ אוֹתוֹ אַנְשֵׁי פְנוּאֵל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר עָנוּ אַנְשֵׁי סֻכּֽוֹת׃
And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
וַיֹּאמֶר גַּם-לְאַנְשֵׁי פְנוּאֵל לֵאמֹר בְּשׁוּבִי בְשָׁלוֹם אֶתֹּץ אֶת-הַמִּגְדָּל הַזֶּֽה׃
And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
וְאֶת-מִגְדַּל פְּנוּאֵל נָתָץ וַֽיַּהֲרֹג אֶת-אַנְשֵׁי הָעִֽיר׃
And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.
וַיִּבֶן יָֽרָבְעָם אֶת-שְׁכֶם בְּהַר אֶפְרַיִם וַיֵּשֶׁב בָּהּ וַיֵּצֵא מִשָּׁם וַיִּבֶן אֶת-פְּנוּאֵֽל׃
Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
וּפְנוּאֵל אֲבִי גְדֹר וְעֵזֶר אֲבִי חוּשָׁה אֵלֶּה בְנֵי-חוּר בְּכוֹר אֶפְרָתָה אֲבִי בֵּית לָֽחֶם׃
And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.
וְיִפְדְיָה (ופניאל) וּפְנוּאֵל בְּנֵי שָׁשָֽׁק׃
And Iphedeiah, and Penuel, the sons of Shashak;
