בְּיָמָיו בָּנָה חִיאֵל בֵּית הָֽאֱלִי אֶת-יְרִיחֹה בַּֽאֲבִירָם בְּכֹרוֹ יִסְּדָהּ (ובשגיב) וּבִשְׂגוּב צְעִירוֹ הִצִּיב דְּלָתֶיהָ כִּדְבַר יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר בְּיַד יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נֽוּן׃
In his days did Hiel the Beth-elite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.
וְאַחַר בָּא חֶצְרוֹן אֶל-בַּת-מָכִיר אֲבִי גִלְעָד וְהוּא לְקָחָהּ וְהוּא בֶּן-שִׁשִּׁים שָׁנָה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת-שְׂגֽוּב׃
And afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was threescore years old; and she bare him Segub.
וּשְׂגוּב הוֹלִיד אֶת-יָאִיר וַֽיְהִי-לוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְשָׁלוֹשׁ עָרִים בְּאֶרֶץ הַגִּלְעָֽד׃
And Segub begat Jair, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gilead.
