וַיֹּאמֶר אַבְרָם אֶל-לוֹט אַל-נָא תְהִי מְרִיבָה בֵּינִי וּבֵינֶךָ וּבֵין רֹעַי וּבֵין רֹעֶיךָ כִּֽי-אֲנָשִׁים אַחִים אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם הַמָּקוֹם מַסָּה וּמְרִיבָה עַל-רִיב׀ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל נַסֹּתָם אֶת-יְהוָה לֵאמֹר הֲיֵשׁ יְהוָה בְּקִרְבֵּנוּ אִם-אָֽיִן׃
And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?
הֵמָּה מֵי מְרִיבָה אֲשֶׁר-רָבוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-יְהוָה וַיִּקָּדֵשׁ בָּֽם׃
This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.
יֵֽאָסֵף אַֽהֲרֹן אֶל-עַמָּיו כִּי לֹא יָבֹא אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל אֲשֶׁר-מְרִיתֶם אֶת-פִּי לְמֵי מְרִיבָֽה׃
Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.
כַּֽאֲשֶׁר מְרִיתֶם פִּי בְּמִדְבַּר-צִן בִּמְרִיבַת הָֽעֵדָה לְהַקְדִּישֵׁנִי בַמַּיִם לְעֵֽינֵיהֶם הֵם מֵֽי-מְרִיבַת קָדֵשׁ מִדְבַּר-צִֽן׃
For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
לֹא תְנַסּוּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם כַּֽאֲשֶׁר נִסִּיתֶם בַּמַּסָּֽה׃
Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
וּבְתַבְעֵרָה וּבְמַסָּה וּבְקִבְרֹת הַֽתַּאֲוָה מַקְצִפִים הֱיִיתֶם אֶת-יְהוָֽה׃
And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
עַל אֲשֶׁר מְעַלְתֶּם בִּי בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּמֵֽי-מְרִיבַת קָדֵשׁ מִדְבַּר-צִן עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-קִדַּשְׁתֶּם אוֹתִי בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.
וּלְלֵוִי אָמַר תֻּמֶּיךָ וְאוּרֶיךָ לְאִישׁ חֲסִידֶךָ אֲשֶׁר נִסִּיתוֹ בְּמַסָּה תְּרִיבֵהוּ עַל-מֵי מְרִיבָֽה׃
And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
בַּצָּרָה קָרָאתָ וָאֲחַלְּצֶךָּ אֶעֶנְךָ בְּסֵתֶר רַעַם אֶבְחָֽנְךָ עַל-מֵי מְרִיבָה סֶֽלָה׃
Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
אַל-תַּקְשׁוּ לְבַבְכֶם כִּמְרִיבָה כְּיוֹם מַסָּה בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
וַיַּקְצִיפוּ עַל-מֵי מְרִיבָה וַיֵּרַע לְמֹשֶׁה בַּעֲבוּרָֽם׃
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
וּפְאַת נֶגֶב תֵּימָנָה מִתָּמָר עַד-מֵי מְרִיבוֹת קָדֵשׁ נַחֲלָה אֶל-הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל וְאֵת פְּאַת-תֵּימָנָה נֶֽגְבָּה׃
And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.
וְעַל גְּבוּל גָּד אֶל-פְּאַת נֶגֶב תֵּימָנָה וְהָיָה גְבוּל מִתָּמָר מֵי מְרִיבַת קָדֵשׁ נַחֲלָה עַל-הַיָּם הַגָּדֽוֹל׃
And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.
