Genesis 9

וַיִּֽהְיוּ בְנֵי-נֹחַ הַיֹּֽצְאִים מִן-הַתֵּבָה שֵׁם וְחָם וָיָפֶת וְחָם הוּא אֲבִי כְנָֽעַן׃

And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

וַיַּרְא חָם אֲבִי כְנַעַן אֵת עֶרְוַת אָבִיו וַיַּגֵּד לִשְׁנֵֽי-אֶחָיו בַּחֽוּץ׃

And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

וַיֹּאמֶר אָרוּר כְּנָעַן עֶבֶד עֲבָדִים יִֽהְיֶה לְאֶחָֽיו׃

And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

וַיֹּאמֶר בָּרוּךְ יְהוָֹה אֱלֹהֵי שֵׁם וִיהִי כְנַעַן עֶבֶד לָֽמוֹ׃

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be servant. his

יַפְתְּ אֱלֹהִים לְיֶפֶת וְיִשְׁכֹּן בְּאָֽהֳלֵי-שֵׁם וִיהִי כְנַעַן עֶבֶד לָֽמוֹ׃

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Genesis 10

וּבְנֵי חָם כּוּשׁ וּמִצְרַיִם וּפוּט וּכְנָֽעַן׃

And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

וּכְנַעַן יָלַד אֶת-צִידֹן בְּכֹרוֹ וְאֶת-חֵֽת׃

And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

וְאֶת-הָֽאַרְוָדִי וְאֶת-הַצְּמָרִי וְאֶת-הַֽחֲמָתִי וְאַחַר נָפֹצוּ מִשְׁפְּחוֹת הַֽכְּנַעֲנִֽי׃

And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

וַיְהִי גְּבוּל הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי מִצִּידֹן בֹּֽאֲכָה גְרָרָה עַד-עַזָּה בֹּֽאֲכָה סְדֹמָה וַֽעֲמֹרָה וְאַדְמָה וּצְבֹיִם עַד-לָֽשַׁע׃

And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

Genesis 11

וַיִּקַּח תֶּרַח אֶת-אַבְרָם בְּנוֹ וְאֶת-לוֹט בֶּן-הָרָן בֶּן-בְּנוֹ וְאֵת שָׂרַי כַּלָּתוֹ אֵשֶׁת אַבְרָם בְּנוֹ וַיֵּֽצְאוּ אִתָּם מֵאוּר כַּשְׂדִּים לָלֶכֶת אַרְצָה כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ עַד-חָרָן וַיֵּשְׁבוּ שָֽׁם׃

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

Genesis 12

וַיִּקַּח אַבְרָם אֶת-שָׂרַי אִשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת-לוֹט בֶּן-אָחִיו וְאֶת-כָּל-רְכוּשָׁם אֲשֶׁר רָכָשׁוּ וְאֶת-הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר-עָשׂוּ בְחָרָן וַיֵּֽצְאוּ לָלֶכֶת אַרְצָה כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ אַרְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃

And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

וַיַּֽעֲבֹר אַבְרָם בָּאָרֶץ עַד מְקוֹם שְׁכֶם עַד אֵלוֹן מוֹרֶה וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי אָז בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

Genesis 13

וַֽיְהִי-רִיב בֵּין רֹעֵי מִקְנֵֽה-אַבְרָם וּבֵין רֹעֵי מִקְנֵה-לוֹט וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי אָז יֹשֵׁב בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

אַבְרָם יָשַׁב בְּאֶֽרֶץ-כְּנָעַן וְלוֹט יָשַׁב בְּעָרֵי הַכִּכָּר וַיֶּֽאֱהַל עַד-סְדֹֽם׃

Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

Genesis 15

וְאֶת-הָֽאֱמֹרִי וְאֶת-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְאֶת-הַגִּרְגָּשִׁי וְאֶת-הַיְבוּסִֽי׃

And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

Genesis 16

וַתִּקַּח שָׂרַי אֵֽשֶׁת-אַבְרָם אֶת-הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית שִׁפְחָתָהּ מִקֵּץ עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים לְשֶׁבֶת אַבְרָם בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַתִּתֵּן אֹתָהּ לְאַבְרָם אִישָׁהּ לוֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

Genesis 17

וְנָֽתַתִּי לְךָ וּלְזַרְעֲךָ אַֽחֲרֶיךָ אֵת׀ אֶרֶץ מְגֻרֶיךָ אֵת כָּל-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לַֽאֲחֻזַּת עוֹלָם וְהָיִיתִי לָהֶם לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃

And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

Genesis 23

וַתָּמָת שָׂרָה בְּקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע הִוא חֶבְרוֹן בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַיָּבֹא אַבְרָהָם לִסְפֹּד לְשָׂרָה וְלִבְכֹּתָֽהּ׃

And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

וְאַֽחֲרֵי-כֵן קָבַר אַבְרָהָם אֶת-שָׂרָה אִשְׁתּוֹ אֶל-מְעָרַת שְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה עַל-פְּנֵי מַמְרֵא הִוא חֶבְרוֹן בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 24

וְאַשְׁבִּיעֲךָ בַּֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם וֵֽאלֹהֵי הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-תִקַּח אִשָּׁה לִבְנִי מִבְּנוֹת הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי אֲשֶׁר אָֽנֹכִי יוֹשֵׁב בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃

And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

וַיַּשְׁבִּעֵנִי אֲדֹנִי לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-תִקַּח אִשָּׁה לִבְנִי מִבְּנוֹת הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי אֲשֶׁר אָֽנֹכִי יֹשֵׁב בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃

And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:

Genesis 28

וַיִּקְרָא יִצְחָק אֶֽל-יַעֲקֹב וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתוֹ וַיְצַוֵּהוּ וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ לֹֽא-תִקַּח אִשָּׁה מִבְּנוֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃

And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

וַיַּרְא עֵשָׂו כִּֽי-בֵרַךְ יִצְחָק אֶֽת-יַעֲקֹב וְשִׁלַּח אֹתוֹ פַּדֶּנָֽה אֲרָם לָקַֽחַת-לוֹ מִשָּׁם אִשָּׁה בְּבָרֲכוֹ אֹתוֹ וַיְצַו עָלָיו לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-תִקַּח אִשָּׁה מִבְּנוֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃

When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

וַיַּרְא עֵשָׂו כִּי רָעוֹת בְּנוֹת כְּנָעַן בְּעֵינֵי יִצְחָק אָבִֽיו׃

And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

Genesis 31

וַיִּנְהַג אֶת-כָּל-מִקְנֵהוּ וְאֶת-כָּל-רְכֻשׁוֹ אֲשֶׁר רָכָשׁ מִקְנֵה קִנְיָנוֹ אֲשֶׁר רָכַשׁ בְּפַדַּן אֲרָם לָבוֹא אֶל-יִצְחָק אָבִיו אַרְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃

And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten, the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padan-aram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 33

וַיָּבֹא יַֽעֲקֹב שָׁלֵם עִיר שְׁכֶם אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן בְּבֹאוֹ מִפַּדַּן אֲרָם וַיִּחַן אֶת-פְּנֵי הָעִֽיר׃

And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and pitched his tent before the city.

Genesis 34

וַיֹּאמֶר יַֽעֲקֹב אֶל-שִׁמְעוֹן וְאֶל-לֵוִי עֲכַרְתֶּם אֹתִי לְהַבְאִישֵׁנִי בְּיֹשֵׁב הָאָרֶץ בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִי וּבַפְּרִזִּי וַֽאֲנִי מְתֵי מִסְפָּר וְנֶֽאֶסְפוּ עָלַי וְהִכּוּנִי וְנִשְׁמַדְתִּי אֲנִי וּבֵיתִֽי׃

And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

Genesis 35

וַיָּבֹא יַֽעֲקֹב לוּזָה אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן הִוא בֵּֽית-אֵל הוּא וְכָל-הָעָם אֲשֶׁר-עִמּֽוֹ׃

So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth-el, he and all the people that were with him.

Genesis 36

עֵשָׂו לָקַח אֶת-נָשָׁיו מִבְּנוֹת כְּנָעַן אֶת-עָדָה בַּת-אֵילוֹן הַֽחִתִּי וְאֶת-אָהֳלִֽיבָמָה בַּת-עֲנָה בַּת-צִבְעוֹן הַֽחִוִּֽי׃

Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;

וְאָהֳלִֽיבָמָה יָֽלְדָה אֶת-‫(יעיש)‬ יְעוּשׁ וְאֶת-יַעְלָם וְאֶת-קֹרַח אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי עֵשָׂו אֲשֶׁר יֻלְּדוּ-לוֹ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.

וַיִּקַּח עֵשָׂו אֶת-נָשָׁיו וְאֶת-בָּנָיו וְאֶת-בְּנֹתָיו וְאֶת-כָּל-נַפְשׁוֹת בֵּיתוֹ וְאֶת-מִקְנֵהוּ וְאֶת-כָּל-בְּהֶמְתּוֹ וְאֵת כָּל-קִנְיָנוֹ אֲשֶׁר רָכַשׁ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל-אֶרֶץ מִפְּנֵי יַֽעֲקֹב אָחִֽיו׃

And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.

Genesis 37

וַיֵּשֶׁב יַֽעֲקֹב בְּאֶרֶץ מְגוּרֵי אָבִיו בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 38

וַיַּרְא-שָׁם יְהוּדָה בַּת-אִישׁ כְּנַֽעֲנִי וּשְׁמוֹ שׁוּעַ וַיִּקָּחֶהָ וַיָּבֹא אֵלֶֽיהָ׃

And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.

Genesis 42

וַיָּבֹאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לִשְׁבֹּר בְּתוֹךְ הַבָּאִים כִּֽי-הָיָה הָֽרָעָב בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came: for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

וַיַּרְא יוֹסֵף אֶת-אֶחָיו וַיַּכִּרֵם וַיִּתְנַכֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם וַיְדַבֵּר אִתָּם קָשׁוֹת וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם מֵאַיִן בָּאתֶם וַיֹּאמְרוּ מֵאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִשְׁבָּר-אֹֽכֶל׃

And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר עֲבָדֶיךָ אַחִים׀ אֲנַחְנוּ בְּנֵי אִישׁ-אֶחָד בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וְהִנֵּה הַקָּטֹן אֶת-אָבִינוּ הַיּוֹם וְהָֽאֶחָד אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל-יַֽעֲקֹב אֲבִיהֶם אַרְצָה כְּנָעַן וַיַּגִּידוּ לוֹ אֵת כָּל-הַקֹּרֹת אֹתָם לֵאמֹֽר׃

And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying,

שְׁנֵים-עָשָׂר אֲנַחְנוּ אַחִים בְּנֵי אָבִינוּ הָֽאֶחָד אֵינֶנּוּ וְהַקָּטֹן הַיּוֹם אֶת-אָבִינוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

Genesis 44

הֵן כֶּסֶף אֲשֶׁר מָצָאנוּ בְּפִי אַמְתְּחֹתֵינוּ הֱשִׁיבֹנוּ אֵלֶיךָ מֵאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וְאֵיךְ נִגְנֹב מִבֵּית אֲדֹנֶיךָ כֶּסֶף אוֹ זָהָֽב׃

Behold, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of thy lord's house silver or gold?

Genesis 45

וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה אֶל-יוֹסֵף אֱמֹר אֶל-אַחֶיךָ זֹאת עֲשׂוּ טַֽעֲנוּ אֶת-בְּעִירְכֶם וּלְכוּ-בֹאוּ אַרְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;

וַֽיַּעֲלוּ מִמִּצְרָיִם וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֶֽל-יַעֲקֹב אֲבִיהֶֽם׃

And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

Genesis 46

וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת-מִקְנֵיהֶם וְאֶת-רְכוּשָׁם אֲשֶׁר רָֽכְשׁוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ מִצְרָיְמָה יַֽעֲקֹב וְכָל-זַרְעוֹ אִתּֽוֹ׃

And they took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt, Jacob, and all his seed with him:

וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן יְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין וְאֹהַד וְיָכִין וְצֹחַר וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִֽית׃

And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman.

וּבְנֵי יְהוּדָה עֵר וְאוֹנָן וְשֵׁלָה וָפֶרֶץ וָזָרַח וַיָּמָת עֵר וְאוֹנָן בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיִּֽהְיוּ בְנֵי-פֶרֶץ חֶצְרֹן וְחָמֽוּל׃

And the sons of Judah; Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zerah: but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Pharez were Hezron and Hamul.

וַיֹּאמֶר יוֹסֵף אֶל-אֶחָיו וְאֶל-בֵּית אָבִיו אֶֽעֱלֶה וְאַגִּידָה לְפַרְעֹה וְאֹֽמְרָה אֵלָיו אַחַי וּבֵית-אָבִי אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶֽרֶץ-כְּנַעַן בָּאוּ אֵלָֽי׃

And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me;

Genesis 47

וַיָּבֹא יוֹסֵף וַיַּגֵּד לְפַרְעֹה וַיֹּאמֶר אָבִי וְאַחַי וְצֹאנָם וּבְקָרָם וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר לָהֶם בָּאוּ מֵאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וְהִנָּם בְּאֶרֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃

Then Joseph and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that came they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה לָגוּר בָּאָרֶץ בָּאנוּ כִּי-אֵין מִרְעֶה לַצֹּאן אֲשֶׁר לַֽעֲבָדֶיךָ כִּֽי-כָבֵד הָֽרָעָב בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וְעַתָּה יֵֽשְׁבוּ-נָא עֲבָדֶיךָ בְּאֶרֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

וְלֶחֶם אֵין בְּכָל-הָאָרֶץ כִּֽי-כָבֵד הָֽרָעָב מְאֹד וַתֵּלַהּ אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וְאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן מִפְּנֵי הָֽרָעָֽב׃

And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

וַיְלַקֵּט יוֹסֵף אֶת-כָּל-הַכֶּסֶף הַנִּמְצָא בְאֶֽרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם וּבְאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן בַּשֶּׁבֶר אֲשֶׁר-הֵם שֹֽׁבְרִים וַיָּבֵא יוֹסֵף אֶת-הַכֶּסֶף בֵּיתָה פַרְעֹֽה׃

And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

וַיִּתֹּם הַכֶּסֶף מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וּמֵאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן וַיָּבֹאוּ כָל-מִצְרַיִם אֶל-יוֹסֵף לֵאמֹר הָֽבָה-לָּנוּ לֶחֶם וְלָמָּה נָמוּת נֶגְדֶּךָ כִּי אָפֵס כָּֽסֶף׃

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

Genesis 48

וַיֹּאמֶר יַֽעֲקֹב אֶל-יוֹסֵף אֵל שַׁדַּי נִרְאָֽה-אֵלַי בְּלוּז בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתִֽי׃

And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

וַֽאֲנִי׀ בְּבֹאִי מִפַּדָּן מֵתָה עָלַי רָחֵל בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן בַּדֶּרֶךְ בְּעוֹד כִּבְרַת-אֶרֶץ לָבֹא אֶפְרָתָה וָֽאֶקְבְּרֶהָ שָּׁם בְּדֶרֶךְ אֶפְרָת הִוא בֵּית לָֽחֶם׃

And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

Genesis 49

בַּמְּעָרָה אֲשֶׁר בִּשְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵֽי-מַמְרֵא בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן אֲשֶׁר קָנָה אַבְרָהָם אֶת-הַשָּׂדֶה מֵאֵת עֶפְרֹן הַֽחִתִּי לַֽאֲחֻזַּת-קָֽבֶר׃

In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

Genesis 50

אָבִי הִשְׁבִּיעַנִי לֵאמֹר הִנֵּה אָֽנֹכִי מֵת בְּקִבְרִי אֲשֶׁר כָּרִיתִי לִי בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן שָׁמָּה תִּקְבְּרֵנִי וְעַתָּה אֶֽעֱלֶה-נָּא וְאֶקְבְּרָה אֶת-אָבִי וְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃

My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan, there shalt thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

וַיַּרְא יוֹשֵׁב הָאָרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי אֶת-הָאֵבֶל בְּגֹרֶן הָֽאָטָד וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵֽבֶל-כָּבֵד זֶה לְמִצְרָיִם עַל-כֵּן קָרָא שְׁמָהּ אָבֵל מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֹתוֹ בָנָיו אַרְצָה כְּנַעַן וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתוֹ בִּמְעָרַת שְׂדֵה הַמַּכְפֵּלָה אֲשֶׁר קָנָה אַבְרָהָם אֶת-הַשָּׂדֶה לַֽאֲחֻזַּת-קֶבֶר מֵאֵת עֶפְרֹן הַֽחִתִּי עַל-פְּנֵי מַמְרֵֽא׃

For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

Exodus 3

וָֽאֵרֵד לְהַצִּילוֹ׀ מִיַּד מִצְרַיִם וּֽלְהַעֲלֹתוֹ מִן-הָאָרֶץ הַהִוא אֶל-אֶרֶץ טוֹבָה וּרְחָבָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ אֶל-מְקוֹם הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

וָֽאֹמַר אַֽעֲלֶה אֶתְכֶם מֵֽעֳנִי מִצְרַיִם אֶל-אֶרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי אֶל-אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָֽשׁ׃

And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.

Exodus 6

וְגַם הֲקִמֹתִי אֶת-בְּרִיתִי אִתָּם לָתֵת לָהֶם אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן אֵת אֶרֶץ מְגֻֽרֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר-גָּרוּ בָֽהּ׃

And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

וּבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן יְמוּאֵל וְיָמִין וְאֹהַד וְיָכִין וְצֹחַר וְשָׁאוּל בֶּן-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִית אֵלֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹת שִׁמְעֽוֹן׃

And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon.

Exodus 13

וְהָיָה כִֽי-יְבִֽיאֲךָ יְהוָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַֽחִתִּי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַֽאֲבֹתֶיךָ לָתֶת לָךְ אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ וְעָֽבַדְתָּ אֶת-הָֽעֲבֹדָה הַזֹּאת בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַזֶּֽה׃

And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

וְהָיָה כִּֽי-יְבִֽאֲךָ יְהוָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי כַּֽאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לְךָ וְלַֽאֲבֹתֶיךָ וּנְתָנָהּ לָֽךְ׃

And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

Exodus 15

אָז נִבְהֲלוּ אַלּוּפֵי אֱדוֹם אֵילֵי מוֹאָב יֹֽאחֲזֵמוֹ רָעַד נָמֹגוּ כֹּל יֹֽשְׁבֵי כְנָֽעַן׃

Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

Exodus 16

וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָֽכְלוּ אֶת-הַמָּן אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה עַד-בֹּאָם אֶל-אֶרֶץ נוֹשָׁבֶת אֶת-הַמָּן אָֽכְלוּ עַד-בֹּאָם אֶל-קְצֵה אֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

Exodus 23

כִּֽי-יֵלֵךְ מַלְאָכִי לְפָנֶיךָ וֶהֱבִֽיאֲךָ אֶל-הָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי הַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי וְהִכְחַדְתִּֽיו׃

For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

וְשָֽׁלַחְתִּי אֶת-הַצִּרְעָה לְפָנֶיךָ וְגֵֽרְשָׁה אֶת-הַֽחִוִּי אֶת-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְאֶת-הַֽחִתִּי מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ׃

And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

Exodus 33

וְשָֽׁלַחְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ מַלְאָךְ וְגֵֽרַשְׁתִּי אֶת-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי הָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַֽחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:

Exodus 34

שְׁמָר-לְךָ אֵת אֲשֶׁר אָֽנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם הִנְנִי גֹרֵשׁ מִפָּנֶיךָ אֶת-הָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַֽחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

Leviticus 14

כִּי תָבֹאוּ אֶל-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נֹתֵן לָכֶם לַֽאֲחֻזָּה וְנָֽתַתִּי נֶגַע צָרַעַת בְּבֵית אֶרֶץ אֲחֻזַּתְכֶֽם׃

When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession;

Leviticus 18

כְּמַֽעֲשֵׂה אֶֽרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר יְשַׁבְתֶּם-בָּהּ לֹא תַֽעֲשׂוּ וּכְמַֽעֲשֵׂה אֶֽרֶץ-כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מֵבִיא אֶתְכֶם שָׁמָּה לֹא תַֽעֲשׂוּ וּבְחֻקֹּֽתֵיהֶם לֹא תֵלֵֽכוּ׃

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

Leviticus 25

אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר-הוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם לָתֵת לָכֶם אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִֽהְיוֹת לָכֶם לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃

I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

Numbers 13

שְׁלַח-לְךָ אֲנָשִׁים וְיָתֻרוּ אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ אֶחָד אִישׁ אֶחָד לְמַטֵּה אֲבֹתָיו תִּשְׁלָחוּ כֹּל נָשִׂיא בָהֶֽם׃

Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

וַיִּשְׁלַח אֹתָם מֹשֶׁה לָתוּר אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם עֲלוּ זֶה בַּנֶּגֶב וַֽעֲלִיתֶם אֶת-הָהָֽר׃

And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:

עֲמָלֵק יוֹשֵׁב בְּאֶרֶץ הַנֶּגֶב וְהַֽחִתִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי יוֹשֵׁב בָּהָר וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי יוֹשֵׁב עַל-הַיָּם וְעַל יַד הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

Numbers 14

וְהָֽעֲמָלֵקִי וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי יוֹשֵׁב בָּעֵמֶק מָחָר פְּנוּ וּסְעוּ לָכֶם הַמִּדְבָּר דֶּרֶךְ יַם-סֽוּף׃

(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

כִּי הָעֲמָֽלֵקִי וְהַכְּנַֽעֲנִי שָׁם לִפְנֵיכֶם וּנְפַלְתֶּם בֶּחָרֶב כִּֽי-עַל-כֵּן שַׁבְתֶּם מֵאַֽחֲרֵי יְהוָה וְלֹֽא-יִהְיֶה יְהוָה עִמָּכֶֽם׃

For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

וַיֵּרֶד הָעֲמָֽלֵקִי וְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי הַיֹּשֵׁב בָּהָר הַהוּא וַיַּכּוּם וַֽיַּכְּתוּם עַד-הַֽחָרְמָֽה׃

Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

Numbers 21

וַיִּשְׁמַע הַכְּנַֽעֲנִי מֶֽלֶךְ-עֲרָד יֹשֵׁב הַנֶּגֶב כִּי בָּא יִשְׂרָאֵל דֶּרֶךְ הָֽאֲתָרִים וַיִּלָּחֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּשְׁבְּ׀ מִמֶּנּוּ שֶֽׁבִי׃

And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

וַיִּשְׁמַע יְהוָה בְּקוֹל יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתֵּן אֶת-הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וַיַּֽחֲרֵם אֶתְהֶם וְאֶת-עָֽרֵיהֶם וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם-הַמָּקוֹם חָרְמָֽה׃

And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.

Numbers 26

בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה עֵר וְאוֹנָן וַיָּמָת עֵר וְאוֹנָן בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

The sons of Judah were Er and Onan: and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.

Numbers 32

וְאִם-לֹא יַֽעַבְרוּ חֲלוּצִים אִתְּכֶם וְנֹֽאחֲזוּ בְתֹֽכְכֶם בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.

נַחְנוּ נַֽעֲבֹר חֲלוּצִים לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וְאִתָּנוּ אֲחֻזַּת נַֽחֲלָתֵנוּ מֵעֵבֶר לַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.

Numbers 33

וַיִּשְׁמַע הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי מֶלֶךְ עֲרָד וְהֽוּא-יֹשֵׁב בַּנֶּגֶב בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן בְּבֹא בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.

דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי אַתֶּם עֹֽבְרִים אֶת-הַיַּרְדֵּן אֶל-אֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

Numbers 34

צַו אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּֽי-אַתֶּם בָּאִים אֶל-הָאָרֶץ כְּנָעַן זֹאת הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּפֹּל לָכֶם בְּֽנַחֲלָה אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִגְבֻֽלֹתֶֽיהָ׃

Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:)

אֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה לְנַחֵל אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

These are they whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.

Numbers 35

דַּבֵּר אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי אַתֶּם עֹֽבְרִים אֶת-הַיַּרְדֵּן אַרְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

אֵת׀ שְׁלֹשׁ הֶֽעָרִים תִּתְּנוּ מֵעֵבֶר לַיַּרְדֵּן וְאֵת שְׁלֹשׁ הֶֽעָרִים תִּתְּנוּ בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן עָרֵי מִקְלָט תִּֽהְיֶֽינָה׃

Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

Deuteronomy 1

פְּנוּ׀ וּסְעוּ לָכֶם וּבֹאוּ הַר הָֽאֱמֹרִי וְאֶל-כָּל-שְׁכֵנָיו בָּֽעֲרָבָה בָהָר וּבַשְּׁפֵלָה וּבַנֶּגֶב וּבְחוֹף הַיָּם אֶרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַלְּבָנוֹן עַד-הַנָּהָר הַגָּדֹל נְהַר-פְּרָֽת׃

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

Deuteronomy 7

כִּי יְבִֽיאֲךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶל-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר-אַתָּה בָא-שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ וְנָשַׁל גּֽוֹיִם-רַבִּים׀ מִפָּנֶיךָ הַֽחִתִּי וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַכְּנַֽעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי שִׁבְעָה גוֹיִם רַבִּים וַֽעֲצוּמִים מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

Deuteronomy 11

הֲלֹא-הֵמָּה בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן אַֽחֲרֵי דֶּרֶךְ מְבוֹא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בְּאֶרֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי הַיֹּשֵׁב בָּֽעֲרָבָה מוּל הַגִּלְגָּל אֵצֶל אֵֽלוֹנֵי מֹרֶֽה׃

Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?

Deuteronomy 20

כִּֽי-הַחֲרֵם תַּֽחֲרִימֵם הַֽחִתִּי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי הַכְּנַֽעֲנִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי הַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃

But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:

Deuteronomy 32

עֲלֵה אֶל-הַר הָֽעֲבָרִים הַזֶּה הַר-נְבוֹ אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ מוֹאָב אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי יְרֵחוֹ וּרְאֵה אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לַֽאֲחֻזָּֽה׃

Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּזֹאת תֵּֽדְעוּן כִּי אֵל חַי בְּקִרְבְּכֶם וְהוֹרֵשׁ יוֹרִישׁ מִפְּנֵיכֶם אֶת-הַכְּנַֽעֲנִי וְאֶת-הַֽחִתִּי וְאֶת-הַֽחִוִּי וְאֶת-הַפְּרִזִּי וְאֶת-הַגִּרְגָּשִׁי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

Joshua 5

וַיְהִי כִשְׁמֹעַ כָּל-מַלְכֵי הָֽאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן יָמָּה וְכָל-מַלְכֵי הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַיָּם אֵת אֲשֶׁר-הוֹבִישׁ יְהוָה אֶת-מֵי הַיַּרְדֵּן מִפְּנֵי בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל עַד-‫(עברנו)‬ עָבְרָם וַיִּמַּס לְבָבָם וְלֹא-הָיָה בָם עוֹד רוּחַ מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

וַיִּשְׁבֹּת הַמָּן מִֽמָּחֳרָת בְּאָכְלָם מֵֽעֲבוּר הָאָרֶץ וְלֹא-הָיָה עוֹד לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מָן וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ מִתְּבוּאַת אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן בַּשָּׁנָה הַהִֽיא׃

And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

Joshua 7

וְיִשְׁמְעוּ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְכֹל יֹֽשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ וְנָסַבּוּ עָלֵינוּ וְהִכְרִיתוּ אֶת-שְׁמֵנוּ מִן-הָאָרֶץ וּמַֽה-תַּעֲשֵׂה לְשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדֽוֹל׃

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
