וַיִּתֵּן לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן יְהוָה מִן-הַלְוִיִּם מְשָֽׁרְתִים וּלְהַזְכִּיר וּלְהוֹדוֹת וּלְהַלֵּל לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
וּבְנָיָהוּ וְיַֽחֲזִיאֵל הַכֹּֽהֲנִים בַּחֲצֹֽצְרוֹת תָּמִיד לִפְנֵי אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
הוּא יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בְּכָל-הָאָרֶץ מִשְׁפָּטָֽיו׃
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
כִּי גָדוֹל יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד וְנוֹרָא הוּא עַל-כָּל-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods.
כִּי כָּל-אֱלֹהֵי הָֽעַמִּים אֱלִילִים וַֽיהוָה שָׁמַיִם עָשָֽׂה׃
For all the gods of the people are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
וְאִמְרוּ הֽוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵנוּ וְקַבְּצֵנוּ וְהַצִּילֵנוּ מִן-הַגּוֹיִם לְהֹדוֹת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָ לְהִשְׁתַּבֵּחַ בִּתְהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃
And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.
בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן-הָֽעוֹלָם וְעַד הָֽעֹלָם וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ כָל-הָעָם אָמֵן וְהַלֵּל לַֽיהוָֽה׃
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel for ever and ever. And all the people said, Amen, and praised the LORD.
וְעִמָּהֶם הֵימָן וִֽידוּתוּן חֲצֹֽצְרוֹת וּמְצִלְתַּיִם לְמַשְׁמִיעִים וּכְלֵי שִׁיר הָֽאֱלֹהִים וּבְנֵי יְדוּתוּן לַשָּֽׁעַר׃
And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.
וַיֹּאמֶר נָתָן אֶל-דָּוִיד כֹּל אֲשֶׁר בִּֽלְבָבְךָ עֲשֵׂה כִּי הָֽאֱלֹהִים עִמָּֽךְ׃
Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
וַיְהִי בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא וַֽיְהִי דְּבַר-אֱלֹהִים אֶל-נָתָן לֵאמֹֽר׃
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
וַיָּבֹא הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִיד וַיֵּשֶׁב לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וַיֹּאמֶר מִֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים וּמִי בֵיתִי כִּי הֲבִֽיאֹתַנִי עַד-הֲלֹֽם׃
And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
וַתִּקְטַן זֹאת בְּעֵינֶיךָ אֱלֹהִים וַתְּדַבֵּר עַל-בֵּֽית-עַבְדְּךָ לְמֵֽרָחוֹק וּרְאִיתַנִי כְּתוֹר הָֽאָדָם הַֽמַּעֲלָה יְהוָה אֱלֹהִֽים׃
And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
יְהוָה אֵין כָּמוֹךָ וְאֵין אֱלֹהִים זֽוּלָתֶךָ בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-שָׁמַעְנוּ בְּאָזְנֵֽינוּ׃
O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
וּמִי כְּעַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל גּוֹי אֶחָד בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר הָלַךְ הָֽאֱלֹהִים לִפְדּוֹת לוֹ עָם לָשׂוּם לְךָ שֵׁם גְּדֻלּוֹת וְנֹֽרָאוֹת לְגָרֵשׁ מִפְּנֵי עַמְּךָ אֲשֶׁר-פָּדִיתָ מִמִּצְרַיִם גּוֹיִֽם׃
And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
וַתִּתֵּן אֶת-עַמְּךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל׀ לְךָ לְעָם עַד-עוֹלָם וְאַתָּה יְהוָה הָיִיתָ לָהֶם לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃
For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
וְיֵֽאָמֵן וְיִגְדַּל שִׁמְךָ עַד-עוֹלָם לֵאמֹר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֱלֹהִים לְיִשְׂרָאֵל וּבֵית-דָּוִיד עַבְדְּךָ נָכוֹן לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃
Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
כִּי׀ אַתָּה אֱלֹהַי גָּלִיתָ אֶת-אֹזֶן עַבְדְּךָ לִבְנוֹת לוֹ בָּיִת עַל-כֵּן מָצָא עַבְדְּךָ לְהִתְפַּלֵּל לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
וְעַתָּה יְהוָה אַתָּה-הוּא הָֽאֱלֹהִים וַתְּדַבֵּר עַֽל-עַבְדְּךָ הַטּוֹבָה הַזֹּֽאת׃
And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
חֲזַק וְנִֽתְחַזְּקָה בְּעַד-עַמֵּנוּ וּבְעַד עָרֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ וַֽיהוָה הַטּוֹב בְּעֵינָיו יַֽעֲשֶֽׂה׃
Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.
וַיֵּרַע בְּעֵינֵי הָֽאֱלֹהִים עַל-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וַיַּךְ אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד אֶל-הָאֱלֹהִים חָטָאתִֽי מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וְעַתָּה הַֽעֲבֶר-נָא אֶת-עֲווֹן עַבְדְּךָ כִּי נִסְכַּלְתִּי מְאֹֽד׃
And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
וַיִּשְׁלַח הָֽאֱלֹהִים׀ מַלְאָךְ׀ לִֽירוּשָׁלִַם לְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ וּכְהַשְׁחִית רָאָה יְהוָה וַיִּנָּחֶם עַל-הָֽרָעָה וַיֹּאמֶר לַמַּלְאָךְ הַמַּשְׁחִית רַב עַתָּה הֶרֶף יָדֶךָ וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה עֹמֵד עִם-גֹּרֶן אָרְנָן הַיְבוּסִֽי׃
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד אֶֽל-הָאֱלֹהִים הֲלֹא אֲנִי אָמַרְתִּי לִמְנוֹת בָּעָם וַֽאֲנִי-הוּא אֲשֶׁר-חָטָאתִי וְהָרֵעַ הֲרֵעוֹתִי וְאֵלֶּה הַצֹּאן מֶה עָשׂוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהַי תְּהִי נָא יָֽדְךָ בִּי וּבְבֵית אָבִי וּֽבְעַמְּךָ לֹא לְמַגֵּפָֽה׃
And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
וְלֹֽא-יָכֹל דָּוִיד לָלֶכֶת לְפָנָיו לִדְרֹשׁ אֱלֹהִים כִּי נִבְעַת מִפְּנֵי חֶרֶב מַלְאַךְ יְהוָֽה׃
But David could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד זֶה הוּא בֵּית יְהוָה הָֽאֱלֹהִים וְזֶה-מִּזְבֵּחַ לְעֹלָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לִכְנוֹס אֶת-הַגֵּרִים אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּֽעֲמֵד חֹֽצְבִים לַחְצוֹב אַבְנֵי גָזִית לִבְנוֹת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
וַיִּקְרָא לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ וַיְצַוֵּהוּ לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לִשְׁלֹמֹה (בנו) בְּנִי אֲנִי הָיָה עִם-לְבָבִי לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לְשֵׁם יְהוָה אֱלֹהָֽי׃
And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:
עַתָּה בְנִי יְהִי יְהוָה עִמָּךְ וְהִצְלַחְתָּ וּבָנִיתָ בֵּית יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ כַּֽאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר עָלֶֽיךָ׃
Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.
אַךְ יִֽתֶּן-לְּךָ יְהוָה שֵׂכֶל וּבִינָה וִֽיצַוְּךָ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלִשְׁמוֹר אֶת-תּוֹרַת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃
Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.
הֲלֹא יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם עִמָּכֶם וְהֵנִיחַ לָכֶם מִסָּבִיב כִּי׀ נָתַן בְּיָדִי אֵת יֹֽשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ וְנִכְבְּשָׁה הָאָרֶץ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וְלִפְנֵי עַמּֽוֹ׃
Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.
עַתָּה תְּנוּ לְבַבְכֶם וְנַפְשְׁכֶם לִדְרוֹשׁ לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם וְקוּמוּ וּבְנוּ אֶת-מִקְדַּשׁ יְהוָה הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְהָבִיא אֶת-אֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה וּכְלֵי קֹדֶשׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִים לַבַּיִת הַנִּבְנֶה לְשֵׁם-יְהוָֽה׃
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
וּמֹשֶׁה אִישׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִים בָּנָיו יִקָּרְאוּ עַל-שֵׁבֶט הַלֵּוִֽי׃
Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
כִּי אָמַר דָּוִיד הֵנִיחַ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעַמּוֹ וַיִּשְׁכֹּן בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם עַד-לְעוֹלָֽם׃
For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
כִּי מַֽעֲמָדָם לְיַד-בְּנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן לַֽעֲבֹדַת בֵּית יְהוָה עַל-הַֽחֲצֵרוֹת וְעַל-הַלְּשָׁכוֹת וְעַֽל-טָהֳרַת לְכָל-קֹדֶשׁ וּמַֽעֲשֵׂה עֲבֹדַת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
וַיַּחְלְקוּם בְּגֽוֹרָלוֹת אֵלֶּה עִם-אֵלֶּה כִּֽי-הָיוּ שָֽׂרֵי-קֹדֶשׁ וְשָׂרֵי הָֽאֱלֹהִים מִבְּנֵי אֶלְעָזָר וּבִבְנֵי אִֽיתָמָֽר׃
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.
אֵלֶּה פְקֻדָּתָם לַעֲבֹֽדָתָם לָבוֹא לְבֵית-יְהוָה כְּמִשְׁפָּטָם בְּיַד אַֽהֲרֹן אֲבִיהֶם כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּהוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
These were the orderings of them in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
כָּל-אֵלֶּה בָנִים לְהֵימָן חֹזֵה הַמֶּלֶךְ בְּדִבְרֵי הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְהָרִים קָרֶן וַיִּתֵּן הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְהֵימָן בָּנִים אַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר וּבָנוֹת שָׁלֽוֹשׁ׃
All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
כָּל-אֵלֶּה עַל-יְדֵי אֲבִיהֶם בַּשִּׁיר בֵּית יְהוָה בִּמְצִלְתַּיִם נְבָלִים וְכִנֹּרוֹת לַֽעֲבֹדַת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים עַל יְדֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ אָסָף וִֽידוּתוּן וְהֵימָֽן׃
All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
עַמִּיאֵל הַשִּׁשִּׁי יִשָׂשכָר הַשְּׁבִיעִי פְּעֻלְּתַי הַשְּׁמִינִי כִּי בֵרֲכוֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him.
וְֽהַלְוִיִּם אֲחִיָּה עַל-אֽוֹצְרוֹת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים וּלְאֹֽצְרוֹת הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃
And of the Levites, Ahijah was over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things.
וְאֶחָיו בְּנֵי-חַיִל אַלְפַּיִם וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת רָאשֵׁי הָֽאָבוֹת וַֽיַּפְקִידֵם דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל-הָרֽאוּבֵנִי וְהַגָּדִי וַֽחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַֽמְנַשִּׁי לְכָל-דְּבַר הָֽאֱלֹהִים וּדְבַר הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And his brethren, men of valour, were two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king.
וַיָּקָם דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ עַל-רַגְלָיו וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמָעוּנִי אַחַי וְעַמִּי אֲנִי עִם-לְבָבִי לִבְנוֹת בֵּית מְנוּחָה לַֽאֲרוֹן בְּרִית-יְהוָה וְלַֽהֲדֹם רַגְלֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ וַֽהֲכִינוֹתִי לִבְנֽוֹת׃
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
וְהָֽאֱלֹהִים אָמַר לִי לֹֽא-תִבְנֶה בַיִת לִשְׁמִי כִּי אִישׁ מִלְחָמוֹת אַתָּה וְדָמִים שָׁפָֽכְתָּ׃
But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
וַיִּבְחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בִּי מִכֹּל בֵּית-אָבִי לִֽהְיוֹת לְמֶלֶךְ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעוֹלָם כִּי בִֽיהוּדָה בָּחַר לְנָגִיד וּבְבֵית יְהוּדָה בֵּית אָבִי וּבִבְנֵי אָבִי בִּי רָצָה לְהַמְלִיךְ עַל-כָּל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
וְעַתָּה לְעֵינֵי כָל-יִשְׂרָאֵל קְהַל-יְהוָה וּבְאָזְנֵי אֱלֹהֵינוּ שִׁמְרוּ וְדִרְשׁוּ כָּל-מִצְוֹת יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם לְמַעַן תִּֽירְשׁוּ אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה וְהִנְחַלְתֶּם לִבְנֵיכֶם אַֽחֲרֵיכֶם עַד-עוֹלָֽם׃
Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
וְאַתָּה שְׁלֹמֹֽה-בְנִי דַּע אֶת-אֱלֹהֵי אָבִיךָ וְעָבְדֵהוּ בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם וּבְנֶפֶשׁ חֲפֵצָה כִּי כָל-לְבָבוֹת דּוֹרֵשׁ יְהוָה וְכָל-יֵצֶר מַֽחֲשָׁבוֹת מֵבִין אִֽם-תִּדְרְשֶׁנּוּ יִמָּצֵא לָךְ וְאִם-תַּֽעַזְבֶנּוּ יַזְנִֽיחֲךָ לָעַֽד׃
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
וְתַבְנִית כֹּל אֲשֶׁר הָיָה בָרוּחַ עִמּוֹ לְחַצְרוֹת בֵּית-יְהוָה וּלְכָל-הַלְּשָׁכוֹת סָבִיב לְאֹֽצְרוֹת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים וּלְאֹֽצְרוֹת הַקֳּדָשִֽׁים׃
And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לִשְׁלֹמֹה בְנוֹ חֲזַק וֶֽאֱמַץ וַֽעֲשֵׂה אַל-תִּירָא וְאַל-תֵּחָת כִּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהַי עִמָּךְ לֹא יַרְפְּךָ וְלֹא יַֽעַזְבֶךָּ עַד-לִכְלוֹת כָּל-מְלֶאכֶת עֲבוֹדַת בֵּית-יְהוָֽה׃
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
וְהִנֵּה מַחְלְקוֹת הַכֹּֽהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם לְכָל-עֲבוֹדַת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים וְעִמְּךָ בְכָל-מְלָאכָה לְכָל-נָדִיב בַּֽחָכְמָה לְכָל-עֲבוֹדָה וְהַשָּׂרִים וְכָל-הָעָם לְכָל-דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃
And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ לְכָל-הַקָּהָל שְׁלֹמֹה בְנִי אֶחָד בָּֽחַר-בּוֹ אֱלֹהִים נַעַר וָרָךְ וְהַמְּלָאכָה גְדוֹלָה כִּי לֹא לְאָדָם הַבִּירָה כִּי לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
וּֽכְכָל-כֹּחִי הֲכִינוֹתִי לְבֵית-אֱלֹהַי הַזָּהָב׀ לַזָּהָב וְהַכֶּסֶף לַכֶּסֶף וְהַנְּחֹשֶׁת לַנְּחֹשֶׁת הַבַּרְזֶל לַבַּרְזֶל וְהָֽעֵצִים לָֽעֵצִים אַבְנֵי-שֹׁהַם וּמִלּוּאִים אַבְנֵי-פוּךְ וְרִקְמָה וְכֹל אֶבֶן יְקָרָה וְאַבְנֵי-שַׁיִשׁ לָרֹֽב׃
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
וְעוֹד בִּרְצוֹתִי בְּבֵית אֱלֹהַי יֶשׁ-לִי סְגֻלָּה זָהָב וָכָסֶף נָתַתִּי לְבֵית-אֱלֹהַי לְמַעְלָה מִכָּל-הֲכִינוֹתִי לְבֵית הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃
Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
וַֽיִּתְּנוּ לַֽעֲבוֹדַת בֵּית-הָֽאֱלֹהִים זָהָב כִּכָּרִים חֲמֵֽשֶׁת-אֲלָפִים וַֽאֲדַרְכֹנִים רִבּוֹ וְכֶסֶף כִּכָּרִים עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים וּנְחֹשֶׁת רִבּוֹ וּשְׁמוֹנַת אֲלָפִים כִּכָּרִים וּבַרְזֶל מֵֽאָה-אֶלֶף כִּכָּרִֽים׃
And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
וַיְבָרֶךְ דָּוִיד אֶת-יְהוָה לְעֵינֵי כָּל-הַקָּהָל וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָבִינוּ מֵֽעוֹלָם וְעַד-עוֹלָֽם׃
Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
וְעַתָּה אֱלֹהֵינוּ מוֹדִים אֲנַחְנוּ לָךְ וּֽמְהַלְלִים לְשֵׁם תִּפְאַרְתֶּֽךָ׃
Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ כֹל הֶֽהָמוֹן הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר הֲכִינֹנוּ לִבְנֽוֹת-לְךָ בַיִת לְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָ מִיָּֽדְךָ (היא) הוּא וּלְךָ הַכֹּֽל׃
O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
וְיָדַעְתִּי אֱלֹהַי כִּי אַתָּה בֹּחֵן לֵבָב וּמֵֽישָׁרִים תִּרְצֶה אֲנִי בְּיֹשֶׁר לְבָבִי הִתְנַדַּבְתִּי כָל-אֵלֶּה וְעַתָּה עַמְּךָ הַנִּמְצְאוּ-פֹה רָאִיתִי בְשִׂמְחָה לְהִֽתְנַדֶּב-לָֽךְ׃
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם יִצְחָק וְיִשְׂרָאֵל אֲבֹתֵינוּ שֳׁמְרָה-זֹּאת לְעוֹלָם לְיֵצֶר מַחְשְׁבוֹת לְבַב עַמֶּךָ וְהָכֵן לְבָבָם אֵלֶֽיךָ׃
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לְכָל-הַקָּהָל בָּֽרְכוּ-נָא אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם וַיְבָרֲכוּ כָֽל-הַקָּהָל לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹֽתֵיהֶם וַיִּקְּדוּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַֽיהוָה וְלַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the LORD your God. And all the congregation blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the LORD, and the king.
וַיִּתְחַזֵּק שְׁלֹמֹה בֶן-דָּוִיד עַל-מַלְכוּתוֹ וַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ וַֽיְגַדְּלֵהוּ לְמָֽעְלָה׃
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
וַיֵּֽלְכוּ שְׁלֹמֹה וְכָל-הַקָּהָל עִמּוֹ לַבָּמָה אֲשֶׁר בְּגִבְעוֹן כִּי-שָׁם הָיָה אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד הָֽאֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה מֹשֶׁה עֶֽבֶד-יְהוָה בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃
So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
אֲבָל אֲרוֹן הָֽאֱלֹהִים הֶֽעֱלָה דָוִיד מִקִּרְיַת יְעָרִים בַּֽהֵכִין לוֹ דָּוִיד כִּי נָֽטָה-לוֹ אֹהֶל בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
בַּלַּיְלָה הַהוּא נִרְאָה אֱלֹהִים לִשְׁלֹמֹה וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ שְׁאַל מָה אֶתֶּן-לָֽךְ׃
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁלֹמֹה לֵֽאלֹהִים אַתָּה עָשִׂיתָ עִם-דָּוִיד אָבִי חֶסֶד גָּדוֹל וְהִמְלַכְתַּנִי תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
עַתָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים יֵֽאָמֵן דְּבָרְךָ עִם דָּוִיד אָבִי כִּי אַתָּה הִמְלַכְתַּנִי עַל-עַם רַב כַּֽעֲפַר הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים׀ לִשְׁלֹמֹה יַעַן אֲשֶׁר הָֽיְתָה זֹאת עִם-לְבָבֶךָ וְלֹֽא-שָׁאַלְתָּ עֹשֶׁר נְכָסִים וְכָבוֹד וְאֵת נֶפֶשׁ שֹֽׂנְאֶיךָ וְגַם-יָמִים רַבִּים לֹא שָׁאָלְתָּ וַתִּֽשְׁאַל-לְךָ חָכְמָה וּמַדָּע אֲשֶׁר תִּשְׁפּוֹט אֶת-עַמִּי אֲשֶׁר הִמְלַכְתִּיךָ עָלָֽיו׃
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
הִנֵּה אֲנִי בֽוֹנֶה-בַּיִת לְשֵׁם׀ יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי לְהַקְדִּישׁ לוֹ לְהַקְטִיר לְפָנָיו קְטֹֽרֶת-סַמִּים וּמַֽעֲרֶכֶת תָּמִיד וְעֹלוֹת לַבֹּקֶר וְלָעֶרֶב לַשַּׁבָּתוֹת וְלֶחֳדָשִׁים וּֽלְמוֹעֲדֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ לְעוֹלָם זֹאת עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.
וְהַבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי בוֹנֶה גָּדוֹל כִּֽי-גָדוֹל אֱלֹהֵינוּ מִכָּל-הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
And the house which I build is great: for great is our God above all gods.
וַיֹּאמֶר חוּרָם בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה אֶת-הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת-הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַן לְדָוִיד הַמֶּלֶךְ בֵּן חָכָם יוֹדֵעַ שֵׂכֶל וּבִינָה אֲשֶׁר יִבְנֶה-בַּיִת לַֽיהוָה וּבַיִת לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
Huram said moreover, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
וְאֵלֶּה הוּסַד שְׁלֹמֹה לִבְנוֹת אֶת-בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים הָאֹרֶךְ אַמּוֹת בַּמִּדָּה הָרִֽאשׁוֹנָה אַמּוֹת שִׁשִּׁים וְרֹחַב אַמּוֹת עֶשְׂרִֽים׃
Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
וַיַּעַשׂ חוּרָם אֶת-הַסִּירוֹת וְאֶת-הַיָּעִים וְאֶת-הַמִּזְרָקוֹת וַיְכַל חיּרָם לַֽעֲשׂוֹת אֶת-הַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה בְּבֵית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
וַיַּעַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹה אֵת כָּל-הַכֵּלִים אֲשֶׁר בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים וְאֵת מִזְבַּח הַזָּהָב וְאֶת-הַשֻּׁלְחָנוֹת וַֽעֲלֵיהֶם לֶחֶם הַפָּנִֽים׃
And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shewbread was set;
וַתִּשְׁלַם כָּל-הַמְּלָאכָה אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה שְׁלֹמֹה לְבֵית יְהוָה וַיָּבֵא שְׁלֹמֹה אֶת-קָדְשֵׁי׀ דָּוִיד אָבִיו וְאֶת-הַכֶּסֶף וְאֶת-הַזָּהָב וְאֶת-כָּל-הַכֵּלִים נָתַן בְּאֹֽצְרוֹת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
וְלֹֽא-יָכְלוּ הַכֹּֽהֲנִים לַֽעֲמוֹד לְשָׁרֵת מִפְּנֵי הֶֽעָנָן כִּֽי-מָלֵא כְבוֹד-יְהוָה אֶת-בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
וַיֹּאמֶר בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר בְּפִיו אֵת דָּוִיד אָבִי וּבְיָדָיו מִלֵּא לֵאמֹֽר׃
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father David, saying,
וַיְהִי עִם-לְבַב דָּוִיד אָבִי לִבְנוֹת בַּיִת לְשֵׁם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
וַיָּקֶם יְהוָה אֶת-דְּבָרוֹ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֵּר וָֽאָקוּם תַּחַת דָּוִיד אָבִי וָֽאֵשֵׁב׀ עַל-כִּסֵּא יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה וָֽאֶבְנֶה הַבַּיִת לְשֵׁם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
וַיֹּאמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵין-כָּמוֹךָ אֱלֹהִים בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ שֹׁמֵר הַבְּרִית וְֽהַחֶסֶד לַֽעֲבָדֶיךָ הַהֹֽלְכִים לְפָנֶיךָ בְּכָל-לִבָּֽם׃
And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:
וְעַתָּה יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמֹר לְעַבְדְּךָ דָוִיד אָבִי אֵת אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתָּ לּוֹ לֵאמֹר לֹֽא-יִכָּרֵת לְךָ אִישׁ מִלְּפָנַי יוֹשֵׁב עַל-כִּסֵּא יִשְׂרָאֵל רַק אִם-יִשְׁמְרוּ בָנֶיךָ אֶת-דַּרְכָּם לָלֶכֶת בְּתוֹרָתִי כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָלַכְתָּ לְפָנָֽי׃
Now therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit upon the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take heed to their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
וְעַתָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יֵֽאָמֵן דְּבָרְךָ אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתָּ לְעַבְדְּךָ לְדָוִֽיד׃
Now then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.
כִּי הַֽאֻמְנָם יֵשֵׁב אֱלֹהִים אֶת-הָֽאָדָם עַל-הָאָרֶץ הִנֵּה שָׁמַיִם וּשְׁמֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם לֹא יְכַלְכְּלוּךָ אַף כִּֽי-הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר בָּנִֽיתִי׃
But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
וּפָנִיתָ אֶל-תְּפִלַּת עַבְדְּךָ וְאֶל-תְּחִנָּתוֹ יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶל-הָֽרִנָּה וְאֶל-הַתְּפִלָּה אֲשֶׁר עַבְדְּךָ מִתְפַּלֵּל לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃
Have respect therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee:
עַתָּה אֱלֹהַי יִֽהְיוּ-נָא עֵינֶיךָ פְּתֻחוֹת וְאָזְנֶיךָ קַשֻּׁבוֹת לִתְפִלַּת הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.
וְעַתָּה קוּמָה יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים לְֽנוּחֶךָ אַתָּה וַֽאֲרוֹן עֻזֶּךָ כֹּֽהֲנֶיךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים יִלְבְּשׁוּ תְשׁוּעָה וַֽחֲסִידֶיךָ יִשְׂמְחוּ בַטּֽוֹב׃
Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness.
יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים אַל-תָּשֵׁב פְּנֵי מְשִׁיחֶךָ זָכְרָה לְחַֽסְדֵי דָּוִיד עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃
O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.
וַיִּזְבַּח הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה אֶת-זֶבַח הַבָּקָר עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנַיִם אֶלֶף וְצֹאן מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים אָלֶף וַֽיַּחְנְכוּ אֶת-בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִים הַמֶּלֶךְ וְכָל-הָעָֽם׃
And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
וְאִם-תְּשׁוּבוּן אַתֶּם וַֽעֲזַבְתֶּם חֻקּוֹתַי וּמִצְוֹתַי אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לִפְנֵיכֶם וַֽהֲלַכְתֶּם וַֽעֲבַדְתֶּם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִיתֶם לָהֶֽם׃
But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;
וְאָֽמְרוּ עַל אֲשֶׁר עָֽזְבוּ אֶת-יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹֽתֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר הֽוֹצִיאָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַֽיַּחֲזִיקוּ בֵּֽאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וַיִּשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ לָהֶם וַיַּֽעַבְדוּם עַל-כֵּן הֵבִיא עֲלֵיהֶם אֵת כָּל-הָֽרָעָה הַזֹּֽאת׃
And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
וַיַּֽעֲמֵד כְּמִשְׁפַּט דָּֽוִיד-אָבִיו אֶת-מַחְלְקוֹת הַכֹּֽהֲנִים עַל-עֲבֹֽדָתָם וְהַלְוִיִּם עַל-מִשְׁמְרוֹתָם לְהַלֵּל וּלְשָׁרֵת נֶגֶד הַכֹּֽהֲנִים לִדְבַר-יוֹם בְּיוֹמוֹ וְהַשֹּׁעֲרִים בְּמַחְלְקוֹתָם לְשַׁעַר וָשָׁעַר כִּי כֵן מִצְוַת דָּוִיד אִישׁ-הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
And he appointed, according to the order of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise and minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required: the porters also by their courses at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
יְהִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בָּרוּךְ אֲשֶׁר׀ חָפֵץ בְּךָ לְתִתְּךָ עַל-כִּסְאוֹ לְמֶלֶךְ לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּאַֽהֲבַת אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְהַֽעֲמִידוֹ לְעוֹלָם וַיִּתֶּנְךָ עֲלֵיהֶם לְמֶלֶךְ לַעֲשׂוֹת מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָֽה׃
Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
וְכֹל מַלְכֵי הָאָרֶץ מְבַקְשִׁים אֶת-פְּנֵי שְׁלֹמֹה לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶת-חָכְמָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר-נָתַן הָֽאֱלֹהִים בְּלִבּֽוֹ׃
And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.
וְלֹֽא-שָׁמַע הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶל-הָעָם כִּֽי-הָיְתָה נְסִבָּה מֵעִם הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְמַעַן הָקִים יְהוָה אֶת-דְּבָרוֹ אֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר בְּיַד אֲחִיָּהוּ הַשִּֽׁלוֹנִי אֶל-יָֽרָבְעָם בֶּן-נְבָֽט׃
So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
וַֽיְהִי דְּבַר-יְהוָה אֶל-שְׁמַעְיָהוּ אִישׁ-הָֽאֱלֹהִים לֵאמֹֽר׃
But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
וְאַֽחֲרֵיהֶם מִכֹּל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הַנֹּֽתְנִים אֶת-לְבָבָם לְבַקֵּשׁ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּאוּ יְרוּשָׁלִַם לִזְבּוֹחַ לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
And after them out of all the tribes of Israel such as set their hearts to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the LORD God of their fathers.
שָׁלוֹשׁ שָׁנִים מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִַם וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ מִֽיכָיָהוּ בַת-אֽוּרִיאֵל מִן-גִּבְעָה וּמִלְחָמָה הָֽיְתָה בֵּין אֲבִיָּה וּבֵין יָֽרָבְעָֽם׃
He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
הֲלֹא לָכֶם לָדַעַת כִּי יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נָתַן מַמְלָכָה לְדָוִיד עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעוֹלָם לוֹ וּלְבָנָיו בְּרִית מֶֽלַח׃
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
וְעַתָּה׀ אַתֶּם אֹֽמְרִים לְהִתְחַזֵּק לִפְנֵי מַמְלֶכֶת יְהוָה בְּיַד בְּנֵי דָוִיד וְאַתֶּם הָמוֹן רָב וְעִמָּכֶם עֶגְלֵי זָהָב אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לָכֶם יָֽרָבְעָם לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃
And now ye think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a great multitude, and there are with you golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
הֲלֹא הִדַּחְתֶּם אֶת-כֹּֽהֲנֵי יְהוָה אֶת-בְּנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְהַלְוִיִּם וַתַּֽעֲשׂוּ לָכֶם כֹּֽהֲנִים כְּעַמֵּי הָֽאֲרָצוֹת כָּל-הַבָּא לְמַלֵּא יָדוֹ בְּפַר בֶּן-בָּקָר וְאֵילִם שִׁבְעָה וְהָיָה כֹהֵן לְלֹא אֱלֹהִֽים׃
Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
וַֽאֲנַחְנוּ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְלֹא עֲזַבְנֻהוּ וְכֹהֲנִים מְשָֽׁרְתִים לַֽיהוָה בְּנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן וְהַלְוִיִּם בַּמְלָֽאכֶת׃
But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites wait upon their business:
