סָבַב אֶל-רוּחַ הַיָּם מָדַד חֲמֵשׁ-מֵאוֹת קָנִים בִּקְנֵה הַמִּדָּֽה׃

He turned about to the west side, and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.

וּמֵחֵיק הָאָרֶץ עַד-הָעֲזָרָה הַתַּחְתּוֹנָה שְׁתַּיִם אַמּוֹת וְרֹחַב אַמָּה אֶחָת וּמֵהֳעֲזָרָה הַקְּטַנָּה עַד-הָעֲזָרָה הַגְּדוֹלָה אַרְבַּע אַמּוֹת וְרֹחַב הָאַמָּֽה׃

And from the bottom upon the ground even to the lower settle shall be two cubits, and the breadth one cubit; and from the lesser settle even to the greater settle shall be four cubits, and the breadth one cubit.

Ezekiel 45

וְלַנָּשִׂיא מִזֶּה וּמִזֶּה לִתְרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְלַאֲחֻזַּת הָעִיר אֶל-פְּנֵי תְרֽוּמַת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶל-פְּנֵי אֲחֻזַּת הָעִיר מִפְּאַת-יָם יָמָּה וּמִפְּאַת-קֵדְמָה קָדִימָה וְאֹרֶךְ לְעֻמּוֹת אַחַד הַחֲלָקִים מִגְּבוּל יָם אֶל-גְּבוּל קָדִֽימָה׃

And a portion shall be for the prince on the one side and on the other side of the oblation of the holy portion, and of the possession of the city, before the oblation of the holy portion, and before the possession of the city, from the west side westward, and from the east side eastward: and the length shall be over against one of the portions, from the west border unto the east border.

Ezekiel 46

וַיְבִיאֵנִי בַמָּבוֹא אֲשֶׁר עַל-כֶּתֶף הַשַּׁעַר אֶל-הַלִּשְׁכוֹת הַקֹּדֶשׁ אֶל-הַכֹּהֲנִים הַפֹּנוֹת צָפוֹנָה וְהִנֵּה-שָׁם מָקוֹם ‫(בירכתם)‬ בַּיַּרְכָתַיִם יָֽמָּה׃

After he brought me through the entry, which was at the side of the gate, into the holy chambers of the priests, which looked toward the north: and, behold, there was a place on the two sides westward.

Ezekiel 47

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הַמַּיִם הָאֵלֶּה יוֹצְאִים אֶל-הַגְּלִילָה הַקַּדְמוֹנָה וְיָרְדוּ עַל-הָֽעֲרָבָה וּבָאוּ הַיָּמָּה אֶל-הַיָּמָּה הַמּֽוּצָאִים ‫(ונרפאו)‬ וְנִרְפּוּ הַמָּֽיִם׃

Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.

וְהָיָה ‫(יעמדו)‬ עָמְדוּ עָלָיו דַּוָּגִים מֵעֵין גֶּדִי וְעַד-עֵין עֶגְלַיִם מִשְׁטוֹחַ לַֽחֲרָמִים יִהְיוּ לְמִינָה תִּהְיֶה דְגָתָם כִּדְגַת הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל רַבָּה מְאֹֽד׃

And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.

וְזֶה גְּבוּל הָאָרֶץ לִפְאַת צָפוֹנָה מִן-הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל הַדֶּרֶךְ חֶתְלֹן לְבוֹא צְדָֽדָה׃

And this shall be the border of the land toward the north side, from the great sea, the way of Hethlon, as men go to Zedad;

וְהָיָה גְבוּל מִן-הַיָּם חֲצַר עֵינוֹן גְּבוּל דַּמֶּשֶׂק וְצָפוֹן׀ צָפוֹנָה וּגְבוּל חֲמָת וְאֵת פְּאַת צָפֽוֹן׃

And the border from the sea shall be Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.

וּפְאַת קָדִים מִבֵּין חַוְרָן וּמִבֵּין-דַּמֶּשֶׂק וּמִבֵּין הַגִּלְעָד וּמִבֵּין אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל הַיַּרְדֵּן מִגְּבוּל עַל-הַיָּם הַקַּדְמוֹנִי תָּמֹדּוּ וְאֵת פְּאַת קָדִֽימָה׃

And the east side ye shall measure from Hauran, and from Damascus, and from Gilead, and from the land of Israel by Jordan, from the border unto the east sea. And this is the east side.

וּפְאַת נֶגֶב תֵּימָנָה מִתָּמָר עַד-מֵי מְרִיבוֹת קָדֵשׁ נַחֲלָה אֶל-הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל וְאֵת פְּאַת-תֵּימָנָה נֶֽגְבָּה׃

And the south side southward, from Tamar even to the waters of strife in Kadesh, the river to the great sea. And this is the south side southward.

וּפְאַת-יָם הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל מִגְּבוּל עַד-נֹכַח לְבוֹא חֲמָת זֹאת פְּאַת-יָֽם׃

The west side also shall be the great sea from the border, till a man come over against Hamath. This is the west side.

Ezekiel 48

וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹת הַשְּׁבָטִים מִקְצֵה צָפוֹנָה אֶל-יַד דֶּֽרֶךְ-חֶתְלֹן׀ לְֽבוֹא-חֲמָת חֲצַר עֵינָן גְּבוּל דַּמֶּשֶׂק צָפוֹנָה אֶל-יַד חֲמָת וְהָיוּ-לוֹ פְאַת-קָדִים הַיָּם דָּן אֶחָֽד׃

Now these are the names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to Hamath, Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for Dan.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל דָּן מִפְּאַת קָדִים עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה אָשֵׁר אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Asher.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל אָשֵׁר מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה וְעַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה נַפְתָּלִי אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Naphtali.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל נַפְתָּלִי מִפְּאַת קָדִמָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה מְנַשֶּׁה אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Manasseh.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל מְנַשֶּׁה מִפְּאַת קָדִמָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה אֶפְרַיִם אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Ephraim.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל אֶפְרַיִם מִפְּאַת קָדִים וְעַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה רְאוּבֵן אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side, a portion for Reuben.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל רְאוּבֵן מִפְּאַת קָדִים עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה יְהוּדָה אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side, a portion for Judah.

וְעַל גְּבוּל יְהוּדָה מִפְּאַת קָדִים עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה תִּהְיֶה הַתְּרוּמָה אֲֽשֶׁר-תָּרִימוּ חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף רֹחַב וְאֹרֶךְ כְּאַחַד הַחֲלָקִים מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה וְהָיָה הַמִּקְדָּשׁ בְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃

And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.

וּלְאֵלֶּה תִּהְיֶה תְרֽוּמַת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ לַכֹּֽהֲנִים צָפוֹנָה חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף וְיָמָּה רֹחַב עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים וְקָדִימָה רֹחַב עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים וְנֶגְבָּה אֹרֶךְ חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אָלֶף וְהָיָה מִקְדַּשׁ-יְהוָה בְּתוֹכֽוֹ׃

And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.

וְאֵלֶּה מִדּוֹתֶיהָ פְּאַת צָפוֹן חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּפְאַת-נֶגֶב חֲמֵשׁ חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּמִפְּאַת קָדִים חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים וּפְאַת-יָמָּה חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִֽים׃

And these shall be the measures thereof; the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.

וְהָיָה מִגְרָשׁ לָעִיר צָפוֹנָה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם וְנֶגְבָּה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָיִם וְקָדִימָה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתַיִם וְיָמָּה חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָֽיִם׃

And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty, and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.

וְהַנּוֹתָר בָּאֹרֶךְ לְעֻמַּת׀ תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ עֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים קָדִימָה וַעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים יָמָּה וְהָיָה לְעֻמַּת תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְהָיְתָה תְבֽוּאָתֹה לְלֶחֶם לְעֹבְדֵי הָעִֽיר׃

And the residue in length over against the oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward: and it shall be over against the oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city.

וְהַנּוֹתָר לַנָּשִׂיא מִזֶּה׀ וּמִזֶּה׀ לִתְרֽוּמַת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְלַאֲחֻזַּת הָעִיר אֶל-פְּנֵי חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף׀ תְּרוּמָה עַד-גְּבוּל קָדִימָה וְיָמָּה עַל-פְּנֵי חֲמִשָּׁה וְעֶשְׂרִים אֶלֶף עַל-גְּבוּל יָמָּה לְעֻמַּת חֲלָקִים לַנָּשִׂיא וְהָֽיְתָה תְּרוּמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וּמִקְדַּשׁ הַבַּיִת בְּתוֹכֹֽה׃

And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy oblation; and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.

וְיֶתֶר הַשְּׁבָטִים מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה בִּנְיָמִן אֶחָֽד׃

As for the rest of the tribes, from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin shall have a portion.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל בִּנְיָמִן מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה שִׁמְעוֹן אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side, Simeon shall have a portion.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל שִׁמְעוֹן מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה יִשָׂשכָר אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side, Issachar a portion.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל יִשָׂשכָר מִפְּאַת קָדִימָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה זְבוּלֻן אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side, Zebulun a portion.

וְעַל׀ גְּבוּל זְבוּלֻן מִפְּאַת קָדִמָה עַד-פְּאַת-יָמָּה גָּד אֶחָֽד׃

And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side, Gad a portion.

וְעַל גְּבוּל גָּד אֶל-פְּאַת נֶגֶב תֵּימָנָה וְהָיָה גְבוּל מִתָּמָר מֵי מְרִיבַת קָדֵשׁ נַחֲלָה עַל-הַיָּם הַגָּדֽוֹל׃

And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar unto the waters of strife in Kadesh, and to the river toward the great sea.

פְּאַת-יָמָּה חֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וְאַרְבַּעַת אֲלָפִים שַֽׁעֲרֵיהֶם שְׁלֹשָׁה שַׁעַר גָּד אֶחָד שַׁעַר אָשֵׁר אֶחָד שַׁעַר נַפְתָּלִי אֶחָֽד׃

At the west side four thousand and five hundred, with their three gates; one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali.

Daniel 8

רָאִיתִי אֶת-הָאַיִל מְנַגֵּחַ יָמָּה וְצָפוֹנָה וָנֶגְבָּה וְכָל-חַיּוֹת לֹֽא-יַֽעַמְדוּ לְפָנָיו וְאֵין מַצִּיל מִיָּדוֹ וְעָשָׂה כִרְצֹנוֹ וְהִגְדִּֽיל׃

I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

וּצְפִיר הָעִזִּים הִגְדִּיל עַד-מְאֹד וּכְעָצְמוֹ נִשְׁבְּרָה הַקֶּרֶן הַגְּדֹלָה וַֽתַּעֲלֶנָה חָזוּת אַרְבַּע תַּחְתֶּיהָ לְאַרְבַּע רוּחוֹת הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

וְהַצָּפִיר הַשָּׂעִיר מֶלֶךְ יָוָן וְהַקֶּרֶן הַגְּדוֹלָה אֲשֶׁר בֵּין-עֵינָיו הוּא הַמֶּלֶךְ הָרִאשֽׁוֹן׃

And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

Daniel 9

וָֽאֶתְפַּֽלְלָה לַיהוָה אֱלֹהַי וָאֶתְוַדֶּה וָאֹֽמְרָה אָנָּא אֲדֹנָי הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל וְהַנּוֹרָא שֹׁמֵר הַבְּרִית וְֽהַחֶסֶד לְאֹהֲבָיו וּלְשֹׁמְרֵי מִצְוֹתָֽיו׃

And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

וַיָּקֶם אֶת-‫(דבריו)‬ דְּבָרוֹ׀ אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר עָלֵינוּ וְעַל שֹֽׁפְטֵינוּ אֲשֶׁר שְׁפָטוּנוּ לְהָבִיא עָלֵינוּ רָעָה גְדֹלָה אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-נֶעֶשְׂתָה תַּחַת כָּל-הַשָּׁמַיִם כַּאֲשֶׁר נֶעֶשְׂתָה בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.

Daniel 10

בִּשְׁנַת שָׁלוֹשׁ לְכוֹרֶשׁ מֶלֶךְ פָּרַס דָּבָר נִגְלָה לְדָֽנִיֵּאל אֲשֶׁר-נִקְרָא שְׁמוֹ בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר וֶאֱמֶת הַדָּבָר וְצָבָא גָדוֹל וּבִין אֶת-הַדָּבָר וּבִינָה לוֹ בַּמַּרְאֶֽה׃

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

וּבְיוֹם עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבָּעָה לַחֹדֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן וַאֲנִי הָיִיתִי עַל יַד הַנָּהָר הַגָּדוֹל הוּא חִדָּֽקֶל׃

And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

וְרָאִיתִי אֲנִי דָנִיֵּאל לְבַדִּי אֶת-הַמַּרְאָה וְהָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ עִמִּי לֹא רָאוּ אֶת-הַמַּרְאָה אֲבָל חֲרָדָה גְדֹלָה נָפְלָה עֲלֵיהֶם וַֽיִּבְרְחוּ בְּהֵחָבֵֽא׃

And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

וַאֲנִי נִשְׁאַרְתִּי לְבַדִּי וָֽאֶרְאֶה אֶת-הַמַּרְאָה הַגְּדֹלָה הַזֹּאת וְלֹא נִשְׁאַר-בִּי כֹּח וְהוֹדִי נֶהְפַּךְ עָלַי לְמַשְׁחִית וְלֹא עָצַרְתִּי כֹּֽחַ׃

Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

Daniel 11

וְעַתָּה אֱמֶת אַגִּיד לָךְ הִנֵּה-עוֹד שְׁלֹשָׁה מְלָכִים עֹמְדִים לְפָרַס וְהָֽרְבִיעִי יַעֲשִׁיר עֹֽשֶׁר-גָּדוֹל מִכֹּל וּכְחֶזְקָתוֹ בְעָשְׁרוֹ יָעִיר הַכֹּל אֵת מַלְכוּת יָוָֽן׃

And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.

וְשָׁב מֶלֶךְ הַצָּפוֹן וְהֶעֱמִיד הָמוֹן רַב מִן-הָרִאשׁוֹן וּלְקֵץ הָֽעִתִּים שָׁנִים יָבוֹא בוֹא בְּחַיִל גָּדוֹל וּבִרְכוּשׁ רָֽב׃

For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.

וְיָעֵר כֹּחוֹ וּלְבָבוֹ עַל-מֶלֶךְ הַנֶּגֶב בְּחַיִל גָּדוֹל וּמֶלֶךְ הַנֶּגֶב יִתְגָּרֶה לַמִּלְחָמָה בְּחַֽיִל-גָּדוֹל וְעָצוּם עַד-מְאֹד וְלֹא יַעֲמֹד כִּֽי-יַחְשְׁבוּ עָלָיו מַחֲשָׁבֽוֹת׃

And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.

וְיָשֹׁב אַרְצוֹ בִּרְכוּשׁ גָּדוֹל וּלְבָבוֹ עַל-בְּרִית קֹדֶשׁ וְעָשָׂה וְשָׁב לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃

Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.

וּשְׁמֻעוֹת יְבַהֲלֻהוּ מִמִּזְרָח וּמִצָּפוֹן וְיָצָא בְּחֵמָא גְדֹלָה לְהַשְׁמִיד וּֽלְהַחֲרִים רַבִּֽים׃

But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

וְיִטַּע אָהֳלֶי אַפַּדְנוֹ בֵּין יַמִּים לְהַר-צְבִי-קֹדֶשׁ וּבָא עַד-קִצּוֹ וְאֵין עוֹזֵר לֽוֹ׃

And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

Daniel 12

וּבָעֵת הַהִיא יַעֲמֹד מִֽיכָאֵל הַשַּׂר הַגָּדוֹל הָעֹמֵד עַל-בְּנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְהָיְתָה עֵת צָרָה אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-נִהְיְתָה מִֽהְיוֹת גּוֹי עַד הָעֵת הַהִיא וּבָעֵת הַהִיא יִמָּלֵט עַמְּךָ כָּל-הַנִּמְצָא כָּתוּב בַּסֵּֽפֶר׃

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Hosea 1

וְֽהָיָה מִסְפַּר בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּחוֹל הַיָּם אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יִמַּד וְלֹא יִסָּפֵר וְֽהָיָה בִּמְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר-יֵאָמֵר לָהֶם לֹֽא-עַמִּי אַתֶּם יֵאָמֵר לָהֶם בְּנֵי אֵֽל-חָֽי׃

Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

וְנִקְבְּצוּ בְּנֵֽי-יְהוּדָה וּבְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל יַחְדָּו וְשָׂמוּ לָהֶם רֹאשׁ אֶחָד וְעָלוּ מִן-הָאָרֶץ כִּי גָדוֹל יוֹם יִזְרְעֶֽאל׃

Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

Hosea 4

עַל-כֵּן׀ תֶּאֱבַל הָאָרֶץ וְאֻמְלַל כָּל-יוֹשֵׁב בָּהּ בְּחַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמָיִם וְגַם-דְּגֵי הַיָּם יֵאָסֵֽפוּ׃

Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

Hosea 11

אַחֲרֵי יְהוָה יֵלְכוּ כְּאַרְיֵה יִשְׁאָג כִּֽי-הוּא יִשְׁאַג וְיֶחֶרְדוּ בָנִים מִיָּֽם׃

They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.

Joel 2

וַֽיהוָה נָתַן קוֹלוֹ לִפְנֵי חֵילוֹ כִּי רַב מְאֹד מַחֲנֵהוּ כִּי עָצוּם עֹשֵׂה דְבָרוֹ כִּֽי-גָדוֹל יוֹם-יְהוָה וְנוֹרָא מְאֹד וּמִי יְכִילֶֽנּוּ׃

And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

וְֽאֶת-הַצְּפוֹנִי אַרְחִיק מֵעֲלֵיכֶם וְהִדַּחְתִּיו אֶל-אֶרֶץ צִיָּה וּשְׁמָמָה אֶת-פָּנָיו אֶל-הַיָּם הַקַּדְמֹנִי וְסֹפוֹ אֶל-הַיָּם הָאַֽחֲרוֹן וְעָלָה בָאְשׁוֹ וְתַעַל צַחֲנָתוֹ כִּי הִגְדִּיל לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

וְשִׁלַּמְתִּי לָכֶם אֶת-הַשָּׁנִים אֲשֶׁר אָכַל הָֽאַרְבֶּה הַיֶּלֶק וְהֶחָסִיל וְהַגָּזָם חֵילִי הַגָּדוֹל אֲשֶׁר שִׁלַּחְתִּי בָּכֶֽם׃

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ יֵהָפֵךְ לְחֹשֶׁךְ וְהַיָּרֵחַ לְדָם לִפְנֵי בּוֹא יוֹם יְהוָה הַגָּדוֹל וְהַנּוֹרָֽא׃

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Amos 5

עֹשֵׂה כִימָה וּכְסִיל וְהֹפֵךְ לַבֹּקֶר צַלְמָוֶת וְיוֹם לַיְלָה הֶחְשִׁיךְ הַקּוֹרֵא לְמֵֽי-הַיָּם וַֽיִּשְׁפְּכֵם עַל-פְּנֵי הָאָרֶץ יְהוָה שְׁמֽוֹ׃

Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

Amos 6

כִּֽי-הִנֵּה יְהוָה מְצַוֶּה וְהִכָּה הַבַּיִת הַגָּדוֹל רְסִיסִים וְהַבַּיִת הַקָּטֹן בְּקִעִֽים׃

For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

Amos 8

וְנָעוּ מִיָּם עַד-יָם וּמִצָּפוֹן וְעַד-מִזְרָח יְשֽׁוֹטְטוּ לְבַקֵּשׁ אֶת-דְּבַר-יְהוָה וְלֹא יִמְצָֽאוּ׃

And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Amos 9

וְאִם-יֵחָֽבְאוּ בְּרֹאשׁ הַכַּרְמֶל מִשָּׁם אֲחַפֵּשׂ וּלְקַחְתִּים וְאִם-יִסָּתְרוּ מִנֶּגֶד עֵינַי בְּקַרְקַע הַיָּם מִשָּׁם אֲצַוֶּה אֶת-הַנָּחָשׁ וּנְשָׁכָֽם׃

And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take out them thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

הַבּוֹנֶה בַשָּׁמַיִם ‫(מעלותו)‬ מַעֲלוֹתָיו וַאֲגֻדָּתוֹ עַל-אֶרֶץ יְסָדָהּ הַקֹּרֵא לְמֵֽי-הַיָּם וַֽיִּשְׁפְּכֵם עַל-פְּנֵי הָאָרֶץ יְהוָה שְׁמֽוֹ׃

It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

Jonah 1

קוּם לֵךְ אֶל-נִֽינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה וּקְרָא עָלֶיהָ כִּֽי-עָלְתָה רָעָתָם לְפָנָֽי׃

Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

וַֽיהוָה הֵטִיל רֽוּחַ-גְּדוֹלָה אֶל-הַיָּם וַיְהִי סַֽעַר-גָּדוֹל בַּיָּם וְהָאֳנִיָּה חִשְּׁבָה לְהִשָּׁבֵֽר׃

But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

וַיִּֽירְאוּ הַמַּלָּחִים וַֽיִּזְעֲקוּ אִישׁ אֶל-אֱלֹהָיו וַיָּטִלוּ אֶת-הַכֵּלִים אֲשֶׁר בָּֽאֳנִיָּה אֶל-הַיָּם לְהָקֵל מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶם וְיוֹנָה יָרַד אֶל-יַרְכְּתֵי הַסְּפִינָה וַיִּשְׁכַּב וַיֵּרָדַֽם׃

Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay, and was fast asleep.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם עִבְרִי אָנֹכִי וְאֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם אֲנִי יָרֵא אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה אֶת-הַיָּם וְאֶת-הַיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃

And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.

וַיִּֽירְאוּ הָֽאֲנָשִׁים יִרְאָה גְדוֹלָה וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו מַה-זֹּאת עָשִׂיתָ כִּֽי-יָדְעוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים כִּֽי-מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה הוּא בֹרֵחַ כִּי הִגִּיד לָהֶֽם׃

Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו מַה-נַּעֲשֶׂה לָּךְ וְיִשְׁתֹּק הַיָּם מֵֽעָלֵינוּ כִּי הַיָּם הוֹלֵךְ וְסֹעֵֽר׃

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׂאוּנִי וַהֲטִילֻנִי אֶל-הַיָּם וְיִשְׁתֹּק הַיָּם מֵֽעֲלֵיכֶם כִּי יוֹדֵעַ אָנִי כִּי בְשֶׁלִּי הַסַּעַר הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

וַיַּחְתְּרוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים לְהָשִׁיב אֶל-הַיַּבָּשָׁה וְלֹא יָכֹלוּ כִּי הַיָּם הוֹלֵךְ וְסֹעֵר עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

Nevertheless the men rowed hard to bring it to the land; but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous against them.

וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת-יוֹנָה וַיְטִלֻהוּ אֶל-הַיָּם וַיַּעֲמֹד הַיָּם מִזַּעְפּֽוֹ׃

So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.

וַיִּֽירְאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים יִרְאָה גְדוֹלָה אֶת-יְהוָה וַיִּֽזְבְּחוּ-זֶבַח לַֽיהוָה וַֽיִּדְּרוּ נְדָרִֽים׃

Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

וַיְמַן יְהוָה דָּג גָּדוֹל לִבְלֹעַ אֶת-יוֹנָה וַיְהִי יוֹנָה בִּמְעֵי הַדָּג שְׁלֹשָׁה יָמִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה לֵילֽוֹת׃

Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Jonah 2

וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִי מְצוּלָה בִּלְבַב יַמִּים וְנָהָר יְסֹבְבֵנִי כָּל-מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָ וְגַלֶּיךָ עָלַי עָבָֽרוּ׃

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

Jonah 3

קוּם לֵךְ אֶל-נִֽינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה וִּקְרָא אֵלֶיהָ אֶת-הַקְּרִיאָה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי דֹּבֵר אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

וַיָּקָם יוֹנָה וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל-נִֽינְוֶה כִּדְבַר יְהוָה וְנִֽינְוֵה הָיְתָה עִיר-גְּדוֹלָה לֵֽאלֹהִים מַהֲלַךְ שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִֽים׃

So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

וַֽיַּאֲמִינוּ אַנְשֵׁי נִֽינְוֵה בֵּֽאלֹהִים וַיִּקְרְאוּ-צוֹם וַיִּלְבְּשׁוּ שַׂקִּים מִגְּדוֹלָם וְעַד-קְטַנָּֽם׃

So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

וַיַּזְעֵק וַיֹּאמֶר בְּנִֽינְוֵה מִטַּעַם הַמֶּלֶךְ וּגְדֹלָיו לֵאמֹר הָאָדָם וְהַבְּהֵמָה הַבָּקָר וְהַצֹּאן אַֽל-יִטְעֲמוּ מְאוּמָה אַל-יִרְעוּ וּמַיִם אַל-יִשְׁתּֽוּ׃

And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

Jonah 4

וַיֵּרַע אֶל-יוֹנָה רָעָה גְדוֹלָה וַיִּחַר לֽוֹ׃

But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

וַיְמַן יְהוָֽה-אֱלֹהִים קִיקָיוֹן וַיַּעַל׀ מֵעַל לְיוֹנָה לִֽהְיוֹת צֵל עַל-רֹאשׁוֹ לְהַצִּיל לוֹ מֵרָֽעָתוֹ וַיִּשְׂמַח יוֹנָה עַל-הַקִּֽיקָיוֹן שִׂמְחָה גְדוֹלָֽה׃

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

וַֽאֲנִי לֹא אָחוּס עַל-נִינְוֵה הָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ-בָּהּ הַרְבֵּה מִֽשְׁתֵּים-עֶשְׂרֵה רִבּוֹ אָדָם אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יָדַע בֵּין-יְמִינוֹ לִשְׂמֹאלוֹ וּבְהֵמָה רַבָּֽה׃

And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?

Micah 7

עַל-הָרַע כַּפַּיִם לְהֵיטִיב הַשַּׂר שֹׁאֵל וְהַשֹּׁפֵט בַּשִּׁלּוּם וְהַגָּדוֹל דֹּבֵר הַוַּת נַפְשׁוֹ הוּא וַֽיְעַבְּתֽוּהָ׃

That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

יוֹם הוּא וְעָדֶיךָ יָבוֹא לְמִנִּי אַשּׁוּר וְעָרֵי מָצוֹר וּלְמִנִּי מָצוֹר וְעַד-נָהָר וְיָם מִיָּם וְהַר הָהָֽר׃

In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

יָשׁוּב יְרַֽחֲמֵנוּ יִכְבֹּשׁ עֲוֹֽנֹתֵינוּ וְתַשְׁלִיךְ בִּמְצֻלוֹת יָם כָּל-חַטֹּאותָֽם׃

He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Nahum 1

יְהוָֹה אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם ‫(וגדול)‬ וּגְדָל-כֹּחַ וְנַקֵּה לֹא יְנַקֶּה יְהוָה בְּסוּפָה וּבִשְׂעָרָה דַּרְכּוֹ וְעָנָן אֲבַק רַגְלָֽיו׃

The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and not at all will acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

גּוֹעֵר בַּיָּם וַֽיַּבְּשֵׁהוּ וְכָל-הַנְּהָרוֹת הֶֽחֱרִיב אֻמְלַל בָּשָׁן וְכַרְמֶל וּפֶרַח לְבָנוֹן אֻמְלָֽל׃

He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

Nahum 3

הֲתֵֽיטְבִי מִנֹּא אָמוֹן הַיֹּֽשְׁבָה בַּיְאֹרִים מַיִם סָבִיב לָהּ אֲשֶׁר-חֵיל יָם מִיָּם חוֹמָתָֽהּ׃

Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea?

גַּם-הִיא לַגֹּלָה הָלְכָה בַשֶּׁבִי גַּם עֹלָלֶיהָ יְרֻטְּשׁוּ בְּרֹאשׁ כָּל-חוּצוֹת וְעַל-נִכְבַּדֶּיהָ יַדּוּ גוֹרָל וְכָל-גְּדוֹלֶיהָ רֻתְּקוּ בַזִּקִּֽים׃

Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

Habakkuk 1

וַתַּעֲשֶׂה אָדָם כִּדְגֵי הַיָּם כְּרֶמֶשׂ לֹא-מֹשֵׁל בּֽוֹ׃

And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?

Habakkuk 2

כִּי תִּמָּלֵא הָאָרֶץ לָדַעַת אֶת-כְּבוֹד יְהוָה כַּמַּיִם יְכַסּוּ עַל-יָֽם׃

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Habakkuk 3

הֲבִנְהָרִים חָרָה יְהוָה אִם בַּנְּהָרִים אַפֶּךָ אִם-בַּיָּם עֶבְרָתֶךָ כִּי תִרְכַּב עַל-סוּסֶיךָ מַרְכְּבֹתֶיךָ יְשׁוּעָֽה׃

Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

דָּרַכְתָּ בַיָּם סוּסֶיךָ חֹמֶר מַיִם רַבִּֽים׃

Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.

Zephaniah 1

אָסֵף אָדָם וּבְהֵמָה אָסֵף עוֹף-הַשָּׁמַיִם וּדְגֵי הַיָּם וְהַמַּכְשֵׁלוֹת אֶת-הָרְשָׁעִים וְהִכְרַתִּי אֶת-הָאָדָם מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה נְאֻם-יְהוָֽה׃

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

וְהָיָה בַיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם-יְהוָה קוֹל צְעָקָה מִשַּׁעַר הַדָּגִים וִֽילָלָה מִן-הַמִּשְׁנֶה וְשֶׁבֶר גָּדוֹל מֵהַגְּבָעֽוֹת׃

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

קָרוֹב יוֹם-יְהוָה הַגָּדוֹל קָרוֹב וּמַהֵר מְאֹד קוֹל יוֹם יְהוָה מַר צֹרֵחַ שָׁם גִּבּֽוֹר׃

The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

Zephaniah 2

הוֹי יֹֽשְׁבֵי חֶבֶל הַיָּם גּוֹי כְּרֵתִים דְּבַר-יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם כְּנַעַן אֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים וְהַאֲבַדְתִּיךְ מֵאֵין יוֹשֵֽׁב׃

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

וְֽהָיְתָה חֶבֶל הַיָּם נְוֹת כְּרֹת רֹעִים וְגִדְרוֹת צֹֽאן׃

And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

Haggai 1

בִּשְׁנַת שְׁתַּיִם לְדָרְיָוֶשׁ הַמֶּלֶךְ בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשִּׁשִּׁי בְּיוֹם אֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ הָיָה דְבַר-יְהוָה בְּיַד-חַגַּי הַנָּבִיא אֶל-זְרֻבָּבֶל בֶּן-שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵל פַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְאֶל-יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן-יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל לֵאמֹֽר׃

In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

וַיִּשְׁמַע זְרֻבָּבֶל׀ בֶּֽן-שַׁלְתִּיאֵל וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן-יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְכֹל׀ שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם בְּקוֹל יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם וְעַל-דִּבְרֵי חַגַּי הַנָּבִיא כַּאֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם וַיִּֽירְאוּ הָעָם מִפְּנֵי יְהוָֽה׃

Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

וַיָּעַר יְהוָה אֶת-רוּחַ זְרֻבָּבֶל בֶּן-שַׁלְתִּיאֵל פַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְאֶת-רוּחַ יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן-יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְֽאֶת-רוּחַ כֹּל שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם וַיָּבֹאוּ וַיַּעֲשׂוּ מְלָאכָה בְּבֵית-יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃

And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

Haggai 2

אֱמָר-נָא אֶל-זְרֻבָּבֶל בֶּן-שַׁלְתִּיאֵל פַּחַת יְהוּדָה וְאֶל-יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן-יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְאֶל-שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם לֵאמֹֽר׃

Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

וְעַתָּה חֲזַק זְרֻבָּבֶל׀ נְאֻם-יְהוָה וַחֲזַק יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בֶּן-יְהוֹצָדָק הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַחֲזַק כָּל-עַם הָאָרֶץ נְאֻם-יְהוָה וַֽעֲשׂוּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי אִתְּכֶם נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:
