Proverbs 12

שְֽׂפַת-אֱמֶת תִּכּוֹן לָעַד וְעַד-אַרְגִּיעָה לְשׁוֹן שָֽׁקֶר׃
19
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
תּוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה שִׂפְתֵי-שָׁקֶר וְעֹשֵׂי אֱמוּנָה רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃
22
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

Proverbs 13

נֹצֵר פִּיו שֹׁמֵר נַפְשׁוֹ פֹּשֵׂק שְׂפָתָיו מְחִתָּה-לֽוֹ׃

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Proverbs 14

בְּֽפִי-אֱוִיל חֹטֶר גַּאֲוָה וְשִׂפְתֵי חֲכָמִים תִּשְׁמוּרֵֽם׃

In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
לֵךְ מִנֶּגֶד לְאִישׁ כְּסִיל וּבַל-יָדַעְתָּ שִׂפְתֵי-דָֽעַת׃

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
בְּכָל-עֶצֶב יִהְיֶה מוֹתָר וּדְבַר-שְׂפָתַיִם אַךְ-לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃

In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

Proverbs 15

שִׂפְתֵי חֲכָמִים יְזָרוּ דָעַת וְלֵב כְּסִילִים לֹא-כֵֽן׃

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

Proverbs 16

קֶסֶם׀ עַֽל-שִׂפְתֵי-מֶלֶךְ בְּמִשְׁפָּט לֹא יִמְעַל-פִּֽיו׃

A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
רְצוֹן מְלָכִים שִׂפְתֵי-צֶדֶק וְדֹבֵר יְשָׁרִים יֶאֱהָֽב׃

Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
לַחֲכַם-לֵב יִקָּרֵא נָבוֹן וּמֶתֶק שְׂפָתַיִם יֹסִיף לֶֽקַח׃

The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
לֵב חָכָם יַשְׂכִּיל פִּיהוּ וְעַל-שְׂפָתָיו יֹסִיף לֶֽקַח׃

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
אִישׁ בְּלִיַּעַל כֹּרֶה רָעָה וְעַל-‫(שפתיו)‬ שְׂפָתוֹ כְּאֵשׁ צָרָֽבֶת׃

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
עֹצֶה עֵינָיו לַחְשֹׁב תַּהְפֻּכוֹת קֹרֵץ שְׂפָתָיו כִּלָּה רָעָֽה׃

Proverbs 17

מֵרַע מַקְשִׁיב עַל-שְׂפַת-אָוֶן שֶׁקֶר מֵזִין עַל-לְשׁוֹן הַוֹּֽת׃

A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
לֹא-נָאוָה לְנָבָל שְׂפַת-יֶתֶר אַף כִּֽי-לְנָדִיב שְׂפַת-שָֽׁקֶר׃

Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
גַּם אֱוִיל מַחֲרִישׁ חָכָם יֵחָשֵׁב אֹטֵם שְׂפָתָיו נָבֽוֹן׃

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Proverbs 18

שִׂפְתֵי כְסִיל יָבֹאֽוּ בְרִיב וּפִיו לְֽמַהֲלֻמוֹת יִקְרָֽא׃

A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
פִּֽי-כְסִיל מְחִתָּה-לוֹ וּשְׂפָתָיו מוֹקֵשׁ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃
7
A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
מִפְּרִי פִי-אִישׁ תִּשְׂבַּע בִּטְנוֹ תְּבוּאַת שְׂפָתָיו יִשְׂבָּֽע׃

A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

Proverbs 19

טֽוֹב-רָשׁ הוֹלֵךְ בְּתֻמּוֹ מֵעִקֵּשׁ שְׂפָתָיו וְהוּא כְסִֽיל׃

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Proverbs 20

יֵשׁ זָהָב וְרָב-פְּנִינִים וּכְלִי יְקָר שִׂפְתֵי-דָֽעַת׃

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
גּֽוֹלֶה-סּוֹד הוֹלֵךְ רָכִיל וּלְפֹתֶה שְׂפָתָיו לֹא תִתְעָרָֽב׃

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Proverbs 22

Isaiah 6

וַיַּגַּע עַל-פִּי וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּה נָגַע זֶה עַל-שְׂפָתֶיךָ וְסָר עֲוֹנֶךָ וְחַטָּאתְךָ תְּכֻפָּֽר׃

And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Isaiah 11

וְשָׁפַט בְּצֶדֶק דַּלִּים וְהוֹכִיחַ בְּמִישׁוֹר לְעַנְוֵי-אָרֶץ וְהִֽכָּה-אֶרֶץ בְּשֵׁבֶט פִּיו וּבְרוּחַ שְׂפָתָיו יָמִית רָשָֽׁע׃

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Isaiah 19

In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

Isaiah 28

כִּי בְּלַעֲגֵי שָׂפָה וּבְלָשׁוֹן אַחֶרֶת יְדַבֵּר אֶל-הָעָם הַזֶּֽה׃

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Isaiah 29

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲדֹנָי יַעַן כִּי נִגַּשׁ הָעָם הַזֶּה בְּפִיו וּבִשְׂפָתָיו כִּבְּדוּנִי וְלִבּוֹ רִחַק מִמֶּנִּי וַתְּהִי יִרְאָתָם אֹתִי מִצְוַת אֲנָשִׁים מְלֻמָּדָֽה׃

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

Isaiah 36

אָמַרְתִּי אַךְ-דְּבַר-שְׂפָתַיִם עֵצָה וּגְבוּרָה לַמִּלְחָמָה עַתָּה עַל-מִי בָטַחְתָּ כִּי מָרַדְתָּ בִּֽי׃

I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

Isaiah 37

יַעַן הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ אֵלַי וְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ עָלָה בְאָזְנָי וְשַׂמְתִּי חַחִי בְּאַפֶּךָ וּמִתְגִּי בִּשְׂפָתֶיךָ וַהֲשִׁיבֹתִיךָ בַּדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר-בָּאתָ בָּֽהּ׃

Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

לֹא׀ אֶל-עַמִּים רַבִּים עִמְקֵי שָׂפָה וְכִבְדֵי לָשׁוֹן אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-תִשְׁמַע דִּבְרֵיהֶם אִם-לֹא אֲלֵיהֶם שְׁלַחְתִּיךָ הֵמָּה יִשְׁמְעוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

Ezekiel 36

לָכֵן הִנָּבֵא וְאָמַרְתָּ כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה יַעַן בְּיַעַן שַׁמּוֹת וְשָׁאֹף אֶתְכֶם מִסָּבִיב לִֽהְיוֹתְכֶם מֽוֹרָשָׁה לִשְׁאֵרִית הַגּוֹיִם וַתֵּֽעֲלוּ עַל-שְׂפַת לָשׁוֹן וְדִבַּת-עָֽם׃

Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:

Ezekiel 43

Ezekiel 47

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הֲרָאִיתָ בֶן-אָדָם וַיּוֹלִכֵנִי וַיְשִׁבֵנִי שְׂפַת הַנָּֽחַל׃

And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river.
בְּשׁוּבֵנִי וְהִנֵּה אֶל-שְׂפַת הַנַּחַל עֵץ רַב מְאֹד מִזֶּה וּמִזֶּֽה׃

Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other.
וְעַל-הַנַּחַל יַעֲלֶה עַל-שְׂפָתוֹ מִזֶּה׀ וּמִזֶּה׀ כָּל-עֵֽץ-מַאֲכָל לֹא-יִבּוֹל עָלֵהוּ וְלֹֽא-יִתֹּם פִּרְיוֹ לָֽחֳדָשָׁיו יְבַכֵּר כִּי מֵימָיו מִן-הַמִּקְדָּשׁ הֵמָּה יֽוֹצְאִים ‫(והיו)‬ וְהָיָה פִרְיוֹ לְמַֽאֲכָל וְעָלֵהוּ לִתְרוּפָֽה׃

And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Daniel 10

וְהִנֵּה כִּדְמוּת בְּנֵי אָדָם נֹגֵעַ עַל-שְׂפָתָי וָאֶפְתַּח-פִּי וָאֲדַבְּרָה וָאֹֽמְרָה אֶל-הָעֹמֵד לְנֶגְדִּי אֲדֹנִי בַּמַּרְאָה נֶהֶפְכוּ צִירַי עָלַי וְלֹא עָצַרְתִּי כֹּֽחַ׃

And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.

Daniel 12

וְרָאִיתִי אֲנִי דָנִיֵּאל וְהִנֵּה שְׁנַיִם אֲחֵרִים עֹמְדִים אֶחָד הֵנָּה לִשְׂפַת הַיְאֹר וְאֶחָד הֵנָּה לִשְׂפַת הַיְאֹֽר׃

Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

קְחוּ עִמָּכֶם דְּבָרִים וְשׁוּבוּ אֶל-יְהוָה אִמְרוּ אֵלָיו כָּל-תִּשָּׂא עָוֹן וְקַח-טוֹב וּֽנְשַׁלְּמָה פָרִים שְׂפָתֵֽינוּ׃

Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

Zephaniah 3

כִּֽי-אָז אֶהְפֹּךְ אֶל-עַמִּים שָׂפָה בְרוּרָה לִקְרֹא כֻלָּם בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה לְעָבְדוֹ שְׁכֶם אֶחָֽד׃

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

תּוֹרַת אֱמֶת הָיְתָה בְּפִיהוּ וְעַוְלָה לֹא-נִמְצָא בִשְׂפָתָיו בְּשָׁלוֹם וּבְמִישׁוֹר הָלַךְ אִתִּי וְרַבִּים הֵשִׁיב מֵעָוֺֽן׃

The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn away many from iniquity.

For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
