וַיִּשְׁלָחֵנִי אֱלֹהִים לִפְנֵיכֶם לָשׂוּם לָכֶם שְׁאֵרִית בָּאָרֶץ וּלְהַֽחֲיוֹת לָכֶם לִפְלֵיטָה גְּדֹלָֽה׃
And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
רְאוּבֵן בְּכֹרִי אַתָּה כֹּחִי וְרֵאשִׁית אוֹנִי יֶתֶר שְׂאֵת וְיֶתֶר עָֽז׃
Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
וְכִסָּה אֶת-עֵין הָאָרֶץ וְלֹא יוּכַל לִרְאֹת אֶת-הָאָרֶץ וְאָכַל׀ אֶת-יֶתֶר הַפְּלֵטָה הַנִּשְׁאֶרֶת לָכֶם מִן-הַבָּרָד וְאָכַל אֶת-כָּל-הָעֵץ הַצֹּמֵחַ לָכֶם מִן-הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:
וְהַשְּׁבִיעִת תִּשְׁמְטֶנָּה וּנְטַשְׁתָּהּ וְאָֽכְלוּ אֶבְיֹנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְיִתְרָם תֹּאכַל חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה כֵּֽן-תַּעֲשֶׂה לְכַרְמְךָ לְזֵיתֶֽךָ׃
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
וּמִיֶּתֶר הַשֶּׁמֶן אֲשֶׁר עַל-כַּפּוֹ יִתֵּן הַכֹּהֵן עַל-תְּנוּךְ אֹזֶן הַמִּטַּהֵר הַיְמָנִית וְעַל-בֹּהֶן יָדוֹ הַיְמָנִית וְעַל-בֹּהֶן רַגְלוֹ הַיְמָנִית עַל דַּם הָֽאָשָֽׁם׃
And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:
וַֽיְהִי הַמַּלְקוֹחַ יֶתֶר הַבָּז אֲשֶׁר בָּֽזְזוּ עַם הַצָּבָא צֹאן שֵׁשׁ-מֵאוֹת אֶלֶף וְשִׁבְעִים אֶלֶף וַֽחֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִֽים׃
And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,
כִּי רַק-עוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן נִשְׁאַר מִיֶּתֶר הָֽרְפָאִים הִנֵּה עַרְשׂוֹ עֶרֶשׂ בַּרְזֶל הֲלֹה הִוא בְּרַבַּת בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן תֵּשַׁע אַמּוֹת אָרְכָּהּ וְאַרְבַּע אַמּוֹת רָחְבָּהּ בְּאַמַּת-אִֽישׁ׃
For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
וְיֶתֶר הַגִּלְעָד וְכָל-הַבָּשָׁן מַמְלֶכֶת עוֹג נָתַתִּי לַֽחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁה כֹּל חֶבֶל הָֽאַרְגֹּב לְכָל-הַבָּשָׁן הַהוּא יִקָּרֵא אֶרֶץ רְפָאִֽים׃
And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
הָאִישׁ הָרַךְ בְּךָ וְהֶֽעָנֹג מְאֹד תֵּרַע עֵינוֹ בְאָחִיו וּבְאֵשֶׁת חֵיקוֹ וּבְיֶתֶר בָּנָיו אֲשֶׁר יוֹתִֽיר׃
So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
וּגְבוּל עוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן מִיֶּתֶר הָֽרְפָאִים הַיּוֹשֵׁב בְּעַשְׁתָּרוֹת וּבְאֶדְרֶֽעִי׃
And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,
כָּל-מַמְלְכוּת עוֹג בַּבָּשָׁן אֲשֶׁר-מָלַךְ בְּעַשְׁתָּרוֹת וּבְאֶדְרֶעִי הוּא נִשְׁאַר מִיֶּתֶר הָֽרְפָאִים וַיַּכֵּם מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּֽרִשֵֽׁם׃
All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
וּבָעֵמֶק בֵּית הָרָם וּבֵית נִמְרָה וְסֻכּוֹת וְצָפוֹן יֶתֶר מַמְלְכוּת סִיחוֹן מֶלֶךְ חֶשְׁבּוֹן הַיַּרְדֵּן וּגְבֻל עַד-קְצֵה יָם-כִּנֶּרֶת עֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן מִזְרָֽחָה׃
And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
כִּי׀ אִם-שׁוֹב תָּשׁוּבוּ וּדְבַקְתֶּם בְּיֶתֶר הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה הַנִּשְׁאָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אִתְּכֶם וְהִֽתְחַתַּנְתֶּם בָּהֶם וּבָאתֶם בָּהֶם וְהֵם בָּכֶֽם׃
Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
וַיְהִי מִסְפַּר הַֽמֲלַקְקִים בְּיָדָם אֶל-פִּיהֶם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת אִישׁ וְכֹל יֶתֶר הָעָם כָּֽרְעוּ עַל-בִּרְכֵיהֶם לִשְׁתּוֹת מָֽיִם׃
And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלֶיהָ שִׁמְשׁוֹן אִם-יַֽאַסְרֻנִי בְּשִׁבְעָה יְתָרִים לַחִים אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-חֹרָבוּ וְחָלִיתִי וְהָיִיתִי כְּאַחַד הָֽאָדָֽם׃
And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
וַיַּֽעֲלוּ-לָהּ סַרְנֵי פְלִשְׁתִּים שִׁבְעָה יְתָרִים לַחִים אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-חֹרָבוּ וַתַּֽאַסְרֵהוּ בָּהֶֽם׃
Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
וְהָֽאֹרֵב יֹשֵׁב לָהּ בַּחֶדֶר וַתֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו פְּלִשְׁתִּים עָלֶיךָ שִׁמְשׁוֹן וַיְנַתֵּק אֶת-הַיְתָרִים כַּֽאֲשֶׁר יִנָּתֵק פְּתִֽיל-הַנְּעֹרֶת בַּֽהֲרִיחוֹ אֵשׁ וְלֹא נוֹדַע כֹּחֽוֹ׃
Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
וַיִּבְחַר-לוֹ שָׁאוּל שְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּֽהְיוּ עִם-שָׁאוּל אַלְפַּיִם בְּמִכְמָשׂ וּבְהַר בֵּֽית-אֵל וְאֶלֶף הָיוּ עִם-יוֹנָתָן בְּגִבְעַת בִּנְיָמִין וְיֶתֶר הָעָם שִׁלַּח אִישׁ לְאֹֽהָלָֽיו׃
Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Beth-el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
וְאֵת יֶתֶר הָעָם נָתַן בְּיַד אַבְשַׁי אָחִיו וַיַּֽעֲרֹךְ לִקְרַאת בְּנֵי עַמּֽוֹן׃
And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon.
וְעַתָּה אֱסֹף אֶת-יֶתֶר הָעָם וַֽחֲנֵה עַל-הָעִיר וְלָכְדָהּ פֶּן-אֶלְכֹּד אֲנִי אֶת-הָעִיר וְנִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלֶֽיהָ׃
Now therefore gather together, the rest of the people and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
וְהִנֵּה קָמָה כָֽל-הַמִּשְׁפָּחָה עַל-שִׁפְחָתֶךָ וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ תְּנִי׀ אֶת-מַכֵּה אָחִיו וּנְמִתֵהוּ בְּנֶפֶשׁ אָחִיו אֲשֶׁר הָרָג וְנַשְׁמִידָה גַּם אֶת-הַיּוֹרֵשׁ וְכִבּוּ אֶת-גַּֽחַלְתִּי אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁאָרָה לְבִלְתִּי (שום) שִׂים-לְאִישִׁי שֵׁם וּשְׁאֵרִית עַל-פְּנֵי הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃
And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
וַיִּקְרָא הַמֶּלֶךְ לַגִּבְעֹנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם וְהַגִּבְעֹנִים לֹא מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵמָּה כִּי אִם-מִיֶּתֶר הָֽאֱמֹרִי וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל נִשְׁבְּעוּ לָהֶם וַיְבַקֵּשׁ שָׁאוּל לְהַכֹּתָם בְּקַנֹּאתוֹ לִבְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל וִֽיהוּדָֽה׃
And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי שְׁלֹמֹה וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וְחָכְמָתוֹ הֲלוֹא-הֵם כְּתֻבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
אֱמֹר אֶל-רְחַבְעָם בֶּן-שְׁלֹמֹה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וְאֶל-כָּל-בֵּית יְהוּדָה וּבִנְיָמִין וְיֶתֶר הָעָם לֵאמֹֽר׃
Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יָֽרָבְעָם אֲשֶׁר נִלְחַם וַֽאֲשֶׁר מָלָךְ הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי רְחַבְעָם וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלֹא-הֵמָּה כְתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃
Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי אֲבִיָּם וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלוֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וּמִלְחָמָה הָֽיְתָה בֵּין אֲבִיָּם וּבֵין יָֽרָבְעָֽם׃
Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.
וְיֶתֶר כָּל-דִּבְרֵֽי-אָסָא וְכָל-גְּבוּרָתוֹ וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וְהֶֽעָרִים אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה הֲלֹא-הֵמָּה כְתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה רַק לְעֵת זִקְנָתוֹ חָלָה אֶת-רַגְלָֽיו׃
The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי נָדָב וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי בַעְשָׁא וַֽאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וּגְבֽוּרָתוֹ הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי אֵלָה וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלוֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי זִמְרִי וְקִשְׁרוֹ אֲשֶׁר קָשָׁר הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יְהוֹאָשׁ אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וּגְבוּרָתוֹ וַֽאֲשֶׁר נִלְחַם עִם אֲמַצְיָהוּ מֶֽלֶךְ-יְהוּדָה הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי אֲמַצְיָהוּ הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתֻבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃
And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יָֽרָבְעָם וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וּגְבֽוּרָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר-נִלְחָם וַֽאֲשֶׁר הֵשִׁיב אֶת-דַּמֶּשֶׂק וְאֶת-חֲמָת לִֽיהוּדָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, they not are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי עֲזַרְיָהוּ וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃
And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי זְכַרְיָה הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And the rest of the acts of Zachariah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי שַׁלּוּם וְקִשְׁרוֹ אֲשֶׁר קָשָׁר הִנָּם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

אוּלַי יִשְׁמַע יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֵת׀ כָּל-דִּבְרֵי רַב-שָׁקֵה אֲשֶׁר שְׁלָחוֹ מֶֽלֶךְ-אַשּׁוּר׀ אֲדֹנָיו לְחָרֵף אֱלֹהִים חַי וְהוֹכִיחַ בַּדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַע יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְנָשָׂאתָ תְפִלָּה בְּעַד הַשְּׁאֵרִית הַנִּמְצָאָֽה׃
It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.
כִּי מִירֽוּשָׁלִַם תֵּצֵא שְׁאֵרִית וּפְלֵיטָה מֵהַר צִיּוֹן קִנְאַת יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת תַּֽעֲשֶׂה-זֹּֽאת׃
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי חִזְקִיָּהוּ וְכָל-גְּבוּרָתוֹ וַֽאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה אֶת-הַבְּרֵכָה וְאֶת-הַתְּעָלָה וַיָּבֵא אֶת-הַמַּיִם הָעִירָה הֲלֹא-הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל-סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃

וְנָֽטַשְׁתִּי אֵת שְׁאֵרִית נַֽחֲלָתִי וּנְתַתִּים בְּיַד אֹֽיְבֵיהֶם וְהָיוּ לְבַז וְלִמְשִׁסָּה לְכָל-אֹֽיְבֵיהֶֽם׃
And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies;

וְאֵת יֶתֶר הָעָם הַנִּשְׁאָרִים בָּעִיר וְאֶת-הַנֹּֽפְלִים אֲשֶׁר נָֽפְלוּ עַל-הַמֶּלֶךְ בָּבֶל וְאֵת יֶתֶר הֶֽהָמוֹן הֶגְלָה נְבֽוּזַרְאֲדָן רַב-טַבָּחִֽים׃

And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.

הֲנָשׁוּב לְהָפֵר מִצְוֹתֶיךָ וּלְהִתְחַתֵּן בְּעַמֵּי הַתֹּֽעֵבוֹת הָאֵלֶּה הֲלוֹא תֶֽאֱנַף-בָּנוּ עַד-כַּלֵּה לְאֵין שְׁאֵרִית וּפְלֵיטָֽה׃
Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
וְהַסְּגָנִים לֹא יָֽדְעוּ אָנָה הָלַכְתִּי וּמָה אֲנִי עֹשֶׂה וְלַיְּהוּדִים וְלַכֹּֽהֲנִים וְלַֽחֹרִים וְלַסְּגָנִים וּלְיֶתֶר עֹשֵׂה הַמְּלָאכָה עַד-כֵּן לֹא הִגַּֽדְתִּי׃
And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
וָאֵרֶא וָֽאָקוּם וָֽאֹמַר אֶל-הַֽחֹרִים וְאֶל-הַסְּגָנִים וְאֶל-יֶתֶר הָעָם אַל-תִּֽירְאוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶם אֶת-אֲדֹנָי הַגָּדוֹל וְהַנּוֹרָא זְכֹרוּ וְהִֽלָּחֲמוּ עַל-אֲחֵיכֶם בְּנֵיכֶם וּבְנֹֽתֵיכֶם נְשֵׁיכֶם וּבָֽתֵּיכֶֽם׃
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
וָֽאֹמַר אֶל-הַֽחֹרִים וְאֶל-הַסְּגָנִים וְאֶל-יֶתֶר הָעָם הַמְּלָאכָה הַרְבֵּה וּרְחָבָה וַֽאֲנַחְנוּ נִפְרָדִים עַל-הַחוֹמָה רְחוֹקִים אִישׁ מֵֽאָחִֽיו׃
And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.
וַיְהִי כַֽאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁמַע לְסַנְבַלַּט וְטֽוֹבִיָּה וּלְגֶשֶׁם הָֽעַרְבִי וּלְיֶתֶר אֹֽיְבֵינוּ כִּי בָנִיתִי אֶת-הַחוֹמָה וְלֹא-נוֹתַר בָּהּ פָּרֶץ גַּם עַד-הָעֵת הַהִיא דְּלָתוֹת לֹֽא-הֶעֱמַדְתִּי בַשְּׁעָרִֽים׃
Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
זָכְרָה אֱלֹהַי לְטֽוֹבִיָּה וּלְסַנְבַלַּט כְּמַֽעֲשָׂיו אֵלֶּה וְגַם לְנֽוֹעַדְיָה הַנְּבִיאָה וּלְיֶתֶר הַנְּבִיאִים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ מְיָֽרְאִים אוֹתִֽי׃
My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
וַֽאֲשֶׁר נָֽתְנוּ שְׁאֵרִית הָעָם זָהָב דַּרְכְּמוֹנִים שְׁתֵּי רִבּוֹא וְכֶסֶף מָנִים אַלְפָּיִם וְכָתְנֹת כֹּֽהֲנִים שִׁשִּׁים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃
And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.
הֲלֹֽא-נִסַּע יִתְרָם בָּם יָמוּתוּ וְלֹא בְחָכְמָֽה׃
Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.
אִם-לֹא נִכְחַד קִימָנוּ וְיִתְרָם אָכְלָה אֵֽשׁ׃
Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
כִּֽי-(יתרו) יִתְרִי פִתַּח וַיְעַנֵּנִי וְרֶסֶן מִפָּנַי שִׁלֵּֽחוּ׃
Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.
כִּי הִנֵּה הָרְשָׁעִים יִדְרְכוּן קֶשֶׁת כּוֹנְנוּ חִצָּם עַל-יֶתֶר לִירוֹת בְּמוֹ-אֹפֶל לְיִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
מִֽמְתִים יָדְךָ׀ יְהוָה מִֽמְתִים מֵחֶלֶד חֶלְקָם בַּֽחַיִּים וּֽצְפוּנְךָ תְּמַלֵּא בִטְנָם יִשְׂבְּעוּ בָנִים וְהִנִּיחוּ יִתְרָם לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶֽם׃
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
אֶֽהֱבוּ אֶת-יְהוָה כָּֽל-חֲסִידָיו אֱמוּנִים נֹצֵר יְהוָה וּמְשַׁלֵּם עַל-יֶתֶר עֹשֵׂה גַאֲוָֽה׃
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
כִּֽי-חֲמַת אָדָם תּוֹדֶךָּ שְׁאֵרִית חֵמֹת תַּחְגֹּֽר׃
Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
לֹא-נָאוָה לְנָבָל שְׂפַת-יֶתֶר אַף כִּֽי-לְנָדִיב שְׂפַת-שָֽׁקֶר׃
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
וְרָעוּ בְּכוֹרֵי דַלִּים וְאֶבְיוֹנִים לָבֶטַח יִרְבָּצוּ וְהֵמַתִּי בָֽרָעָב שָׁרְשֵׁךְ וּשְׁאֵרִיתֵךְ יַהֲרֹֽג׃
And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
כִּי מֵי דִימוֹן מָלְאוּ דָם כִּֽי-אָשִׁית עַל-דִּימוֹן נוֹסָפוֹת לִפְלֵיטַת מוֹאָב אַרְיֵה וְלִשְׁאֵרִית אֲדָמָֽה׃
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
וּשְׁאֵרִיתוֹ לְאֵל עָשָׂה לְפִסְלוֹ (יסגוד) יִסְגָּד-לוֹ וְיִשְׁתַּחוּ וְיִתְפַּלֵּל אֵלָיו וְיֹאמַר הַצִּילֵנִי כִּי אֵלִי אָֽתָּה׃
And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
וְלֹא-יָשִׁיב אֶל-לִבּוֹ וְלֹא דַעַת וְלֹֽא-תְבוּנָה לֵאמֹר חֶצְיוֹ שָׂרַפְתִּי בְמוֹ-אֵשׁ וְאַף אָפִיתִי עַל-גֶּחָלָיו לֶחֶם אֶצְלֶה בָשָׂר וְאֹכֵל וְיִתְרוֹ לְתוֹעֵבָה אֶעֱשֶׂה לְבוּל עֵץ אֶסְגּֽוֹד׃
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
שִׁמְעוּ אֵלַי בֵּית יַעֲקֹב וְכָל-שְׁאֵרִית בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל הַֽעֲמֻסִים מִנִּי-בֶטֶן הַנְּשֻׂאִים מִנִּי-רָֽחַם׃
