וַתִּזְנֶה עָלָיו פִּֽילַגְשׁוֹ וַתֵּלֶךְ מֵֽאִתּוֹ אֶל-בֵּית אָבִיהָ אֶל-בֵּית לֶחֶם יְהוּדָה וַתְּהִי-שָׁם יָמִים אַרְבָּעָה חֳדָשִֽׁים׃
And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father's house to Bethlehem-judah, and was there four whole months.
כֹּה׀ אָמַר יְהוָה אֵי זֶה סֵפֶר כְּרִיתוּת אִמְּכֶם אֲשֶׁר שִׁלַּחְתִּיהָ אוֹ מִי מִנּוֹשַׁי אֲשֶׁר-מָכַרְתִּי אֶתְכֶם לוֹ הֵן בַּעֲוֹנֹֽתֵיכֶם נִמְכַּרְתֶּם וּבְפִשְׁעֵיכֶם שֻׁלְּחָה אִמְּכֶֽם׃
Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
