How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
אַךְ בַּחֲלָקוֹת תָּשִׁית לָמוֹ הִפַּלְתָּם לְמַשּׁוּאֽוֹת׃
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
πῶς ἡμεῖς ἐκφευξόμεθα τηλικαύτης ἀμελήσαντες σωτηρίας ἥτις ἀρχὴν λαβοῦσα λαλεῖσθαι διὰ τοῦ κυρίου ὑπὸ τῶν ἀκουσάντων εἰς ἡμᾶς ἐβεβαιώθη

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
בֵּאדַיִן הַיְתִיו מָאנֵי דַהֲבָא דִּי הַנְפִּקוּ מִן-הֵֽיכְלָא דִּֽי-בֵית אֱלָהָא דִּי בִירֽוּשְׁלֶם וְאִשְׁתִּיו בְּהוֹן מַלְכָּא וְרַבְרְבָנוֹהִי שֵׁגְלָתֵהּ וּלְחֵנָתֵֽהּ׃
Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ שָׁכַֽח אֵל הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו בַּל-רָאָה לָנֶֽצַח׃
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
(ישבתי) יֹשַׁבְתְּ בַּלְּבָנוֹן (מקננתי) מְקֻנַּנְתְּ בָּֽאֲרָזִים מַה-נֵּחַנְתְּ בְּבֹא-לָךְ חֲבָלִים חִיל כַּיֹּלֵדָֽה׃
O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
כִּי עַד-סִירִים סְבֻכִים וּכְסָבְאָם סְבוּאִים אֻכְּלוּ כְּקַשׁ יָבֵשׁ מָלֵֽא׃
For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
עַל-כֵּן מָלְאוּ מָתְנַי חַלְחָלָה צִירִים אֲחָזוּנִי כְּצִירֵי יֽוֹלֵדָה נַעֲוֵיתִי מִשְּׁמֹעַ נִבְהַלְתִּי מֵרְאֽוֹת׃
Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
רְעָדָה אֲחָזָתַם שָׁם חִיל כַּיּוֹלֵֽדָה׃
Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
