μηδεὶς τὸ ἑαυτοῦ ζητείτω ἀλλὰ τὸ τοῦ ἑτέρου ἕκαστος
Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
טוֹב יַנְחִיל בְּנֵֽי-בָנִים וְצָפוּן לַצַּדִּיק חֵיל חוֹטֵֽא׃
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Καὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πεποιθήσει ἐβουλόμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐλθεῖν πρότερον ἵνα δευτέραν χάριν ἔχῆτε·
And in this confidence I was minded to come unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
בֶּן-אָדָם הִנָּבֵא עַל-רוֹעֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הִנָּבֵא וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם לָרֹעִים כֹּה אָמַר׀ אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הוֹי רֹעֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ רֹעִים אוֹתָם הֲלוֹא הַצֹּאן יִרְעוּ הָרֹעִֽים׃

As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
Οὐκ ἐντρέπων ὑμᾶς γράφω ταῦτα ἀλλ' ὡς τέκνα μου ἀγαπητὰ νουθετῶ
I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
οὐχ ὅτι ἐπιζητῶ τὸ δόμα ἀλλ' ἐπιζητῶ τὸν καρπὸν τὸν πλεονάζοντα εἰς λόγον ὑμῶν
Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
ποιμάνατε τὸ ἐν ὑμῖν ποίμνιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπισκοποῦντες μὴ ἀναγκαστῶς ἀλλ' ἑκουσίως μηδὲ αἰσχροκερδῶς ἀλλὰ προθύμως
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
ἀργυρίου ἢ χρυσίου ἢ ἱματισμοῦ οὐδενὸς ἐπεθύμησα·
I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.
οὔτε γάρ ποτε ἐν λόγῳ κολακείας ἐγενήθημεν καθὼς οἴδατε οὔτε ἐν προφάσει πλεονεξίας θεὸς μάρτυς
For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
οὕτως ἱμειρόμενοι ὑμῶν εὐδοκοῦμεν μεταδοῦναι ὑμῖν οὐ μόνον τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλὰ καὶ τὰς ἑαυτῶν ψυχάς διότι ἀγαπητοὶ ἡμῖν γεγένησθε
So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
ἐλεύσομαι δὲ ταχέως πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐὰν ὁ κύριος θελήσῃ καὶ γνώσομαι οὐ τὸν λόγον τῶν πεφυσιωμένων ἀλλὰ τὴν δύναμιν·
But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
פְּֽרִי-צַדִּיק עֵץ חַיִּים וְלֹקֵחַ נְפָשׂוֹת חָכָֽם׃
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
Τρίτον τοῦτο ἔρχομαι πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ἐπὶ στόματος δύο μαρτύρων καὶ τριῶν σταθήσεται πᾶν ῥῆμα
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every be word established.
τίς γὰρ ἡμῶν ἐλπὶς ἢ χαρὰ ἢ στέφανος καυχήσεως ἢ οὐχὶ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ αὐτοῦ παρουσίᾳ
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
Ὥστε ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοὶ καὶ ἐπιπόθητοι χαρὰ καὶ στέφανός μου οὕτως στήκετε ἐν κυρίῳ ἀγαπητοί
Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
