2 Corinthians 7:11
For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
עִבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה בְּיִרְאָה וְגִילוּ בִּרְעָדָֽה׃
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
οὐ μόνον δὲ ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐν τῇ παρακλήσει ᾗ παρεκλήθη ἐφ' ὑμῖν ἀναγγέλλων ἡμῖν τὴν ὑμῶν ἐπιπόθησιν τὸν ὑμῶν ὀδυρμόν τὸν ὑμῶν ζῆλον ὑπὲρ ἐμοῦ ὥστε με μᾶλλον χαρῆναι
And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.
ὡς ἀρτιγέννητα βρέφη τὸ λογικὸν ἄδολον γάλα ἐπιποθήσατε ἵνα ἐν αὐτῷ αὐξηθῆτε
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
τοὺς δὲ ἔξω ὁ θεὸς κρινεῖ καί ἐξαρεῖτε τὸν πονηρὸν ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν
But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
καὶ μὴ συγκοινωνεῖτε τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἀκάρποις τοῦ σκότους μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
οἶδα γὰρ τὴν προθυμίαν ὑμῶν ἣν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν καυχῶμαι Μακεδόσιν ὅτι Ἀχαΐα παρεσκεύασται ἀπὸ πέρυσι καὶ ὁ ἐξ ὑμῶν ζῆλος ἠρέθισεν τοὺς πλείονας
For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
Φοβηθῶμεν οὖν μήποτε καταλειπομένης ἐπαγγελίας εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ δοκῇ τις ἐξ ὑμῶν ὑστερηκέναι
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Πιστὸς ὁ λόγος· καὶ περὶ τούτων βούλομαί σε διαβεβαιοῦσθαι ἵνα φροντίζωσιν καλῶν ἔργων προΐστασθαι οἱ πεπιστευκότες τῷ θεῷ· ταῦτά ἐστιν τὰ καλὰ καὶ ὠφέλιμα τοῖς ἀνθρώποις
This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
εὐχόμαι δὲ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν μὴ ποιῆσαι ὑμᾶς κακὸν μηδέν οὐχ ἵνα ἡμεῖς δόκιμοι φανῶμεν ἀλλ' ἵνα ὑμεῖς τὸ καλὸν ποιῆτε ἡμεῖς δὲ ὡς ἀδόκιμοι ὦμεν
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
ἀλλ' ἐν παντὶ συνιστώντες ἑαυτοὺς ὡς θεοῦ διάκονοι ἐν ὑπομονῇ πολλῇ ἐν θλίψεσιν ἐν ἀνάγκαις ἐν στενοχωρίαις
But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
כְּאַיָּל תַּעֲרֹג עַל-אֲפִֽיקֵי-מָיִם כֵּן נַפְשִׁי תַעֲרֹג אֵלֶיךָ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
אֲֽדֹנָי נֶגְדְּךָ כָל-תַּאֲוָתִי וְאַנְחָתִי מִמְּךָ לֹא-נִסְתָּֽרָה׃
Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
καὶ ὑμεῖς πεφυσιωμένοι ἐστέ καὶ οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἐπενθήσατε ἵνα ἐξαρθῇ ἐκ μέσου ὑμῶν ὁ τὸ ἔργον τοῦτο ποιήσας
And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
ἵνα μὴ ᾖ σχίσμα ἐν τῷ σώματι ἀλλὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων μεριμνῶσιν τὰ μέλη
That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
οὓς δὲ ἐν φόβῳ σῴζετε ἐκ τοῦ πυρὸς ἁρπάζοντες μισοῦντες καὶ τὸν ἀπὸ τῆς σαρκὸς ἐσπιλωμένον χιτῶνα
And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
וַאֲנִי׀ בַּחֲלוֹתָם לְבוּשִׁי שָׂק עִנֵּיתִי בַצּוֹם נַפְשִׁי וּתְפִלָּתִי עַל-חֵיקִי תָשֽׁוּב׃
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
Ὥστε ἀγαπητοί μου καθὼς πάντοτε ὑπηκούσατε μὴ ὡς ἐν τῇ παρουσίᾳ μου μόνον ἀλλὰ νῦν πολλῷ μᾶλλον ἐν τῇ ἀπουσίᾳ μου μετὰ φόβου καὶ τρόμου τὴν ἑαυτῶν σωτηρίαν κατεργάζεσθε·
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
