By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Ἔστιν δὲ πίστις ἐλπιζομένων ὑπόστασις πραγμάτων ἔλεγχος οὐ βλεπομένων
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
וַיֹּאמֶר מִי שָֽׂמְךָ לְאִישׁ שַׂר וְשֹׁפֵט עָלֵינוּ הַלְהָרְגֵנִי אַתָּה אֹמֵר כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָרַגְתָּ אֶת-הַמִּצְרִי וַיִּירָא מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמַר אָכֵן נוֹדַע הַדָּבָֽר׃
And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
ἰδού μακαρίζομεν τοὺς ὑπομένοντας· τὴν ὑπομονὴν Ἰὼβ ἠκούσατε καὶ τὸ τέλος κυρίου εἴδετε ὅτι πολύσπλαγχνός ἐστιν ὁ κύριος καὶ οἰκτίρμων
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
וּפַרְעֹה הִקְרִיב וַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-עֵֽינֵיהֶם וְהִנֵּה מִצְרַיִם׀ נֹסֵעַ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וַיִּֽירְאוּ מְאֹד וַיִּצְעֲקוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-יְהוָֽה׃
And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
וַיֹּֽאמֶר-לוֹ פַרְעֹה לֵךְ מֵֽעָלָי הִשָּׁמֶר לְךָ אֶל-תֹּסֶף רְאוֹת פָּנַי כִּי בְּיוֹם רְאֹֽתְךָ פָנַי תָּמֽוּת׃
And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה בְּמִדְיָן לֵךְ שֻׁב מִצְרָיִם כִּי-מֵתוּ כָּל-הָאֲנָשִׁים הַֽמְבַקְשִׁים אֶת-נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
וְכָכָה תֹּֽאכְלוּ אֹתוֹ מָתְנֵיכֶם חֲגֻרִים נַֽעֲלֵיכֶם בְּרַגְלֵיכֶם וּמַקֶּלְכֶם בְּיֶדְכֶם וַֽאֲכַלְתֶּם אֹתוֹ בְּחִפָּזוֹן פֶּסַח הוּא לַֽיהוָֽה׃
And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.
וְיָֽרְדוּ כָל-עֲבָדֶיךָ אֵלֶּה אֵלַי וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוּוּ-לִי לֵאמֹר צֵא אַתָּה וְכָל-הָעָם אֲשֶׁר-בְּרַגְלֶיךָ וְאַֽחֲרֵי-כֵן אֵצֵא וַיֵּצֵא מֵֽעִם-פַּרְעֹה בָּֽחֳרִי-אָֽף׃
And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.
Ἀναμιμνῄσκεσθε δὲ τὰς πρότερον ἡμέρας ἐν αἷς φωτισθέντες πολλὴν ἄθλησιν ὑπεμείνατε παθημάτων
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
ὃν οὐκ εἰδότες ἀγαπᾶτε εἰς ὃν ἄρτι μὴ ὁρῶντες πιστεύοντες δὲ ἀγαλλιᾶσθε χαρᾷ ἀνεκλαλήτῳ καὶ δεδοξασμένῃ
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
τῷ δὲ βασιλεῖ τῶν αἰώνων ἀφθάρτῳ ἀοράτῳ μόνῳ σοφῶ θεῷ τιμὴ καὶ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν
Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
πάντα στέγει πάντα πιστεύει πάντα ἐλπίζει πάντα ὑπομένει
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου· ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
ὁ μόνος ἔχων ἀθανασίαν φῶς οἰκῶν ἀπρόσιτον ὃν εἶδεν οὐδεὶς ἀνθρώπων οὐδὲ ἰδεῖν δύναται· ᾧ τιμὴ καὶ κράτος αἰώνιον ἀμήν
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
καὶ οὐκ ἔχουσιν ῥίζαν ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ἀλλὰ πρόσκαιροί εἰσιν εἶτα γενομένης θλίψεως ἢ διωγμοῦ διὰ τὸν λόγον εὐθὲως σκανδαλίζονται
And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
וַיִּסְעוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵֽרַעְמְסֵס סֻכֹּתָה כְּשֵׁשׁ-מֵאוֹת אֶלֶף רַגְלִי הַגְּבָרִים לְבַד מִטָּֽף׃
And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.
καὶ ἔσεσθε μισούμενοι ὑπὸ πάντων διὰ τὸ ὄνομά μου ὁ δὲ ὑπομείνας εἰς τέλος οὗτος σωθήσεται
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
