οὐ γὰρ ἔδωκεν ἡμῖν ὁ θεὸς πνεῦμα δειλίας ἀλλὰ δυνάμεως καὶ ἀγάπης καὶ σωφρονισμοῦ
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
τοῦ δοῦναί ἡμῖν ἀφόβως ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν ῥυσθέντας λατρεύειν αὐτῷ
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
לִבִּי יָחִיל בְּקִרְבִּי וְאֵימוֹת מָוֶת נָפְלוּ עָלָֽי׃
My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
ὅτι καὶ αὐτὴ ἡ κτίσις ἐλευθερωθήσεται ἀπὸ τῆς δουλείας τῆς φθορᾶς εἰς τὴν ἐλευθερίαν τῆς δόξης τῶν τέκνων τοῦ θεοῦ
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
ὃς ἐκ τηλικούτου θανάτου ἐῤῥύσατο ἡμᾶς καὶ ῥύεται εἰς ὃν ἠλπίκαμεν ὅτι καὶ ἔτι ῥύσεται
Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
מִי גֶבֶר יִֽחְיֶה וְלֹא יִרְאֶה-מָּוֶת יְמַלֵּט נַפְשׁוֹ מִיַּד-שְׁאוֹל סֶֽלָה׃
What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.
Τοῦτο δέ φημι ἀδελφοί ὅτι σὰρξ καὶ αἷμα βασιλείαν θεοῦ κληρονομῆσαι οὐ δύνανται οὐδὲ ἡ φθορὰ τὴν ἀφθαρσίαν κληρονομεῖ
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
כִּי יַחְדָּו׀ בֹּקֶר לָמוֹ צַלְמָוֶת כִּֽי-יַכִּיר בַּלְהוֹת צַלְמָֽוֶת׃
For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they are in the terrors of the shadow of death.
יִכֶל בְּשָׂרוֹ מֵרֹאִי (ושפי) וְשֻׁפּוּ עַצְמֹתָיו לֹא רֻאּֽוּ׃
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
כִּי הִצַּלְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִמָּוֶת הֲלֹא רַגְלַי מִדֶּחִי לְהִֽתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהִים בְּאוֹר הַֽחַיִּֽים׃
For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
סָבִיב בִּֽעֲתֻהוּ בַלָּהוֹת וֶהֱפִיצֻהוּ לְרַגְלָֽיו׃
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.
לְהַצִּיל מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם וּלְחַיּוֹתָם בָּרָעָֽב׃
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
יִנָּתֵק מֵאָהֳלוֹ מִבְטַחוֹ וְתַצְעִדֵהוּ לְמֶלֶךְ בַּלָּהֽוֹת׃
His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.
אֵיךְ הָיוּ לְשַׁמָּה כְרָגַע סָפוּ תַמּוּ מִן-בַּלָּהֽוֹת׃
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
Λέγετέ μοι οἱ ὑπὸ νόμον θέλοντες εἶναι τὸν νόμον οὐκ ἀκούετε
Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
