Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

וַיָּקָם אֶלְיָשִׁיב הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וְאֶחָיו הַכֹּֽהֲנִים וַיִּבְנוּ אֶת-שַׁעַר הַצֹּאן הֵמָּה קִדְּשׁוּהוּ וַֽיַּעֲמִידוּ דַּלְתֹתָיו וְעַד-מִגְדַּל הַמֵּאָה קִדְּשׁוּהוּ עַד מִגְדַּל חֲנַנְאֵֽל׃
Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.
וּבֵין עֲלִיַּת הַפִּנָּה לְשַׁעַר הַצֹּאן הֶֽחֱזִיקוּ הַצֹּֽרְפִים וְהָרֹֽכְלִֽים׃
And between the going up of the corner unto the sheep gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
וּמִקְוָה׀ עֲשִׂיתֶם בֵּין הַחֹמֹתַיִם לְמֵי הַבְּרֵכָה הַיְשָׁנָה וְלֹא הִבַּטְתֶּם אֶל-עֹשֶׂיהָ וְיֹצְרָהּ מֵֽרָחוֹק לֹא רְאִיתֶֽם׃
Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
Ὁ οὖν Πιλᾶτος ἀκούσας τοῦτον τὸν λογὸν ἤγαγεν ἔξω τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος εἰς τόπον λεγόμενον Λιθόστρωτον Ἑβραϊστὶ δὲ Γαββαθα
When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
καὶ βαστάζων τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς τὸν λεγόμενον Κρανίου Τόπον ὃς λέγεται Ἑβραϊστὶ Γολγοθᾶ
And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
λέγει αὐτῇ ὃ Ἰησοῦς Μαρία στραφεῖσα ἐκείνη λέγει αὐτῷ Ῥαββουνί ὃ λέγεται Διδάσκαλε
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
וְאֵת בְּקִיעֵי עִיר-דָּוִד רְאִיתֶם כִּי-רָבּוּ וַֽתְּקַבְּצוּ אֶת-מֵי הַבְּרֵכָה הַתַּחְתּוֹנָֽה׃
Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.
ἐπιτρέψαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ὁ Παῦλος ἑστὼς ἐπὶ τῶν ἀναβαθμῶν κατέσεισεν τῇ χειρὶ τῷ λαῷ πολλῆς δὲ σιγῆς γενομένης προσεφώνησεν τῇ Ἑβραΐδι διαλέκτῳ λέγων
And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,
τοῦτον οὖν τὸν τίτλον πολλοὶ ἀνέγνωσαν τῶν Ἰουδαίων ὅτι ἐγγὺς ἦν τῆς πόλεως ὁ τόπος ὅπου ἐσταυρώθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς· καὶ ἦν γεγραμμένον Ἑβραϊστί Ἑλληνιστί Ῥωμαϊστί
This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
