Αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ Ἡρῴδης ἀποστείλας ἐκράτησεν τὸν Ἰωάννην καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ ὅτι αὐτὴν ἐγάμησεν·
For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.
Ὁ γὰρ Ἡρῴδης κρατήσας τὸν Ἰωάννην ἔδησεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἔθετο ἐν φυλακῇ διὰ Ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα Φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ·
For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
יֹסֵר׀ לֵץ לֹקֵחַֽ לוֹ קָלוֹן וּמוֹכִיחַ לְרָשָׁע מוּמֽוֹ׃
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
