For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.
בִּשְׁנַת שָׁלוֹשׁ לְמָלְכוֹ עָשָׂה מִשְׁתֶּה לְכָל-שָׂרָיו וַֽעֲבָדָיו חֵיל׀ פָּרַס וּמָדַי הַֽפַּרְתְּמִים וְשָׂרֵי הַמְּדִינוֹת לְפָנָֽיו׃
In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:
וַיָּבוֹא עַד לִפְנֵי שַֽׁעַר-הַמֶּלֶךְ כִּי אֵין לָבוֹא אֶל-שַׁעַר הַמֶּלֶךְ בִּלְבוּשׁ שָֽׂק׃
And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.
לְהָבִיא אֶת-וַשְׁתִּי הַמַּלְכָּה לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ בְּכֶתֶר מַלְכוּת לְהַרְאוֹת הָֽעַמִּים וְהַשָּׂרִים אֶת-יָפְיָהּ כִּֽי-טוֹבַת מַרְאֶה הִֽיא׃
To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to shew the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.
λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδὲ Σολομὼν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ δόξῃ αὐτοῦ περιεβάλετο ὡς ἓν τούτων
And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
וּמָרְדֳּכַי יָצָא׀ מִלִּפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ בִּלְבוּשׁ מַלְכוּת תְּכֵלֶת וָחוּר וַֽעֲטֶרֶת זָהָב גְּדוֹלָה וְתַכְרִיךְ בּוּץ וְאַרְגָּמָן וְהָעִיר שׁוּשָׁן צָֽהֲלָה וְשָׂמֵֽחָה׃
And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ אֵלָיו אִישׁ בַּעַל שֵׂעָר וְאֵזוֹר עוֹר אָזוּר בְּמָתְנָיו וַיֹּאמַר אֵֽלִיָּה הַתִּשְׁבִּי הֽוּא׃
And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
בֶּן-שְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה אָֽנֹכִי הַיּוֹם הַֽאֵדַע׀ בֵּֽין-טוֹב לְרָע אִם-יִטְעַם עַבְדְּךָ אֶת-אֲשֶׁר אֹכַל וְאֶת-אֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁתֶּה אִם-אֶשְׁמַע עוֹד בְּקוֹל שָׁרִים וְשָׁרוֹת וְלָמָּה יִֽהְיֶה עַבְדְּךָ עוֹד לְמַשָּׂא אֶל-אֲדֹנִי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
Αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ Ἰωάννης εἶχεν τὸ ἔνδυμα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τριχῶν καμήλου καὶ ζώνην δερματίνην περὶ τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτοῦ ἡ δὲ τροφὴ αὐτοῦ ἦν ἀκρίδες καὶ μέλι ἄγριον
And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.
ὧν ἔστω οὐχ ὁ ἔξωθεν ἐμπλοκῆς τριχῶν καὶ περιθέσεως χρυσίων ἢ ἐνδύσεως ἱματίων κόσμος
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
