I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
וַיִּשְׁלַח יְהוָה אִישׁ נָבִיא אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם כֹּֽה-אָמַר יְהוָה׀ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָֽנֹכִי הֶֽעֱלֵיתִי אֶתְכֶם מִמִּצְרַיִם וָֽאֹצִיא אֶתְכֶם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִֽים׃
That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;

καὶ ἐν καιρῷ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς δοῦλον ἵνα ἀπὸ τοῦ καρποῦ τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος δῶσιν αὐτῷ· οἱ δὲ γεωργοὶ δείραντες αὐτὸν ἐξαπέστειλαν κενόν
And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent away him empty.
וָאֶשְׁלַח אֲלֵיכֶם אֶת-כָּל-עֲבָדַי הַנְּבִיאִים הַשְׁכֵּים וְשָׁלֹחַ לֵאמֹר אַל-נָא תַעֲשׂוּ אֵת דְּבַֽר-הַתֹּעֵבָה הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃
Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.
וְשָׁלַח יְהוָה אֲלֵיכֶם אֶֽת-כָּל-עֲבָדָיו הַנְּבִאִים הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלֹחַ וְלֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם וְלֹֽא-הִטִּיתֶם אֶֽת-אָזְנְכֶם לִשְׁמֹֽעַ׃

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

אַלְלַי לִי כִּי הָיִיתִי כְּאָסְפֵּי-קַיִץ כְּעֹלְלֹת בָּצִיר אֵין-אֶשְׁכּוֹל לֶאֱכוֹל בִּכּוּרָה אִוְּתָה נַפְשִֽׁי׃
Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

Πολυμερῶς καὶ πολυτρόπως πάλαι ὁ θεὸς λαλήσας τοῖς πατράσιν ἐν τοῖς προφήταις
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתָ בְּיַד עֲבָדֶיךָ הַנְּבִיאִים לֵאמֹר הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם בָּאִים לְרִשְׁתָּהּ אֶרֶץ נִדָּה הִיא בְּנִדַּת עַמֵּי הָֽאֲרָצוֹת בְּתוֹעֲבֹֽתֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר מִלְאוּהָ מִפֶּה אֶל-פֶּה בְּטֻמְאָתָֽם׃
Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
וַיָּעַד יְהוָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וּבִֽיהוּדָה בְּיַד כָּל-(נביאו) נְבִיאֵי כָל-חֹזֶה לֵאמֹר שֻׁבוּ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶם הָֽרָעִים וְשִׁמְרוּ מִצְוֹתַי חֻקּוֹתַי כְּכָל-הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִי אֶת-אֲבֹֽתֵיכֶם וַֽאֲשֶׁר שָׁלַחְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם בְּיַד עֲבָדַי הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃
Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
וְֽהָיָה כְּעֵץ שָׁתוּל עַֽל-פַּלְגֵי מָיִם אֲשֶׁר פִּרְיוֹ׀ יִתֵּן בְּעִתּוֹ וְעָלֵהוּ לֹֽא-יִבּוֹל וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יַעֲשֶׂה יַצְלִֽיחַ׃
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
