And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
וְאֵלֶּה דִּבְרֵי דָוִד הָאַֽחֲרֹנִים נְאֻם דָּוִד בֶּן-יִשַׁי וּנְאֻם הַגֶּבֶר הֻקַם עָל מְשִׁיחַ אֱלֹהֵי יַֽעֲקֹב וּנְעִים זְמִרוֹת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-שְׁמוּאֵל עַד-מָתַי אַתָּה מִתְאַבֵּל אֶל-שָׁאוּל וַֽאֲנִי מְאַסְתִּיו מִמְּלֹךְ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל מַלֵּא קַרְנְךָ שֶׁמֶן וְלֵךְ אֶֽשְׁלָחֲךָ אֶל-יִשַׁי בֵּֽית-הַלַּחְמִי כִּֽי-רָאִיתִי בְּבָנָיו לִי מֶֽלֶךְ׃
And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
וַתִּשְׁמַע אֵשֶׁת אֽוּרִיָּה כִּי-מֵת אֽוּרִיָּה אִישָׁהּ וַתִּסְפֹּד עַל-בַּעְלָֽהּ׃
And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו שָׁאוּל בֶּן-מִי אַתָּה הַנָּעַר וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִד בֶּֽן-עַבְדְּךָ יִשַׁי בֵּית הַלַּחְמִֽי׃
And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל-יִשַׁי הֲתַמּוּ הַנְּעָרִים וַיֹּאמֶר עוֹד שָׁאַר הַקָּטָן וְהִנֵּה רֹעֶה בַּצֹּאן וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל-יִשַׁי שִׁלְחָה וְקָחֶנּוּ כִּי לֹֽא-נָסֹב עַד-בֹּאוֹ פֹֽה׃

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
וַיַּעַן הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִד וַיֹּאמֶר קִרְאוּ-לִי לְבַת-שָׁבַע וַתָּבֹא לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וַֽתַּעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
Then king David answered and said, Call me Bath-sheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
וַיִּשְׁלַח דָּוִד וַיִּדְרֹשׁ לָֽאִשָּׁה וַיֹּאמֶר הֲלוֹא-זֹאת בַּת-שֶׁבַע בַּת-אֱלִיעָם אֵשֶׁת אֽוּרִיָּה הַֽחִתִּֽי׃
David And sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
וְיָצָא חֹטֶר מִגֵּזַע יִשָׁי וְנֵצֶר מִשָּׁרָשָׁיו יִפְרֶֽה׃
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
וַיִּֽחַר-אַף שָׁאוּל בִּיהוֹנָתָן וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ בֶּֽן-נַעֲוַת הַמַּרְדּוּת הֲלוֹא יָדַעְתִּי כִּֽי-בֹחֵר אַתָּה לְבֶן-יִשַׁי לְבָשְׁתְּךָ וּלְבֹשֶׁת עֶרְוַת אִמֶּֽךָ׃
Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?
וּמִכָּל-בָּנַי כִּי רַבִּים בָּנִים נָתַן לִי יְהוָה וַיִּבְחַר בִּשְׁלֹמֹה בְנִי לָשֶׁבֶת עַל-כִּסֵּא מַלְכוּת יְהוָה עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
