καὶ ἔκραζον ὁρῶντες τὸν καπνὸν τῆς πυρώσεως αὐτῆς λέγοντες Τίς ὁμοία τῇ πόλει τῇ μεγάλῃ
And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
μεθ' ἧς ἐπόρνευσαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐμεθύσθησαν ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν
With whom the kings of the have committed earth fornication, and the inhabitants of the have been made earth drunk with the wine of her fornication.
וְֽיָרְדוּ מֵעַל כִּסְאוֹתָם כֹּל נְשִׂיאֵי הַיָּם וְהֵסִירוּ אֶת-מְעִילֵיהֶם וְאֶת-בִּגְדֵי רִקְמָתָם יִפְשֹׁטוּ חֲרָדוֹת׀ יִלְבָּשׁוּ עַל-הָאָרֶץ יֵשֵׁבוּ וְחָֽרְדוּ לִרְגָעִים וְשָׁמְמוּ עָלָֽיִךְ׃
Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at every moment, and be astonished at thee.

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
ὅσα ἐδόξασεν ἑαυτὴν καὶ ἐστρηνίασεν τοσοῦτον δότε αὐτῇ βασανισμὸν καὶ πένθος ὅτι ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς λέγει Κάθημαι βασίλισσα καὶ χήρα οὐκ εἰμί καὶ πένθος οὐ μὴ ἴδω
How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
וְהִכְעַסְתִּי לֵב עַמִּים רַבִּים בַּהֲבִיאִי שִׁבְרְךָ בַּגּוֹיִם עַל-אֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יְדַעְתָּֽם׃
I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.

As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
וְנֶהֶפְכוּ נְחָלֶיהָ לְזֶפֶת וַעֲפָרָהּ לְגָפְרִית וְהָיְתָה אַרְצָהּ לְזֶפֶת בֹּעֵרָֽה׃
And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
הֵילֵל בְּרוֹשׁ כִּֽי-נָפַל אֶרֶז אֲשֶׁר אַדִּרִים שֻׁדָּדוּ הֵילִילוּ אַלּוֹנֵי בָשָׁן כִּי יָרַד יַעַר (הבצור) הַבָּצִֽיר׃
Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.
καὶ τὰ δέκα κέρατα ἃ εἶδες δέκα βασιλεῖς εἰσιν οἵτινες βασιλείαν οὔπω ἔλαβον ἀλλ' ἐξουσίαν ὡς βασιλεῖς μίαν ὥραν λαμβάνουσιν μετὰ τοῦ θηρίου
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no as yet; kingdom but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
וְהָיְתָה בָבֶל צְבִי מַמְלָכוֹת תִּפְאֶרֶת גְּאוֹן כַּשְׂדִּים כְּמַהְפֵּכַת אֱלֹהִים אֶת-סְדֹם וְאֶת-עֲמֹרָֽה׃
And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
גָּפְרִית וָמֶלַח שְׂרֵפָה כָל-אַרְצָהּ לֹא תִזָּרַע וְלֹא תַצְמִחַ וְלֹֽא-יַעֲלֶה בָהּ כָּל-עֵשֶׂב כְּֽמַהְפֵּכַת סְדֹם וַֽעֲמֹרָה אַדְמָה (וצביים) וּצְבוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר הָפַךְ יְהוָה בְּאַפּוֹ וּבַֽחֲמָתֽוֹ׃
And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
כִּֽי-עָרוּךְ מֵֽאֶתְמוּל תָּפְתֶּה גַּם-(הוא) הִיא לַמֶּלֶךְ הוּכָן הֶעְמִיק הִרְחִב מְדֻרָתָהּ אֵשׁ וְעֵצִים הַרְבֵּה נִשְׁמַת יְהוָה כְּנַחַל גָּפְרִית בֹּעֲרָה בָּֽהּ׃
For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
קָרֵא בְחַיִל וְכֵן אָמַר גֹּדּוּ אִֽילָנָא וְקַצִּצוּ עַנְפוֹהִי אַתַּרוּ עָפְיֵהּ וּבַדַּרוּ אִנְבֵּהּ תְּנֻד חֵֽיוְתָא מִן-תַּחְתּוֹהִי וְצִפְּרַיָּא מִן-עַנְפֽוֹהִי׃
He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
יִשְׂמַח צַדִּיק כִּי-חָזָה נָקָם פְּעָמָיו יִרְחַץ בְּדַם הָרָשָֽׁע׃
The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
