No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
וְאִם רַע בְּֽעֵינֵיכֶם לַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָה בַּֽחֲרוּ לָכֶם הַיּוֹם אֶת-מִי תַֽעֲבֹדוּן אִם אֶת-אֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר-עָֽבְדוּ אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר (בעבר) מֵעֵבֶר הַנָּהָר וְאִם אֶת-אֱלֹהֵי הָֽאֱמֹרִי אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם יֹֽשְׁבִים בְּאַרְצָם וְאָֽנֹכִי וּבֵיתִי נַֽעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָֽה׃
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Μὴ οὖν βασιλευέτω ἡ ἁμαρτία ἐν τῷ θνητῷ ὑμῶν σώματι εἰς τὸ ὑπακούειν αὕτη ἐν ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις αὐτοῦ
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
ἀνθρώπινον λέγω διὰ τὴν ἀσθένειαν τῆς σαρκὸς ὑμῶν ὥσπερ γὰρ παρεστήσατε τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν δοῦλα τῇ ἀκαθαρσίᾳ καὶ τῇ ἀνομίᾳ εἰς τὴν ἀνομίαν οὕτως νῦν παραστήσατε τὰ μέλη ὑμῶν δοῦλα τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ εἰς ἁγιασμόν
I speak after the manner of men because of the to infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
χάρις δὲ τῷ θεῷ ὅτι ἦτε δοῦλοι τῆς ἁμαρτίας ὑπηκούσατε δὲ ἐκ καρδίας εἰς ὃν παρεδόθητε τύπον διδαχῆς
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
