וַיִּקֶן אֶת-חֶלְקַת הַשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר נָֽטָה-שָׁם אָֽהֳלוֹ מִיַּד בְּנֵֽי-חֲמוֹר אֲבִי שְׁכֶם בְּמֵאָה קְשִׂיטָֽה׃
And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
וַיַּרְא אֹתָהּ שְׁכֶם בֶּן-חֲמוֹר הַֽחִוִּי נְשִׂיא הָאָרֶץ וַיִּקַּח אֹתָהּ וַיִּשְׁכַּב אֹתָהּ וַיְעַנֶּֽהָ׃
And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁכֶם אֶל-חֲמוֹר אָבִיו לֵאמֹר קַֽח-לִי אֶת-הַיַּלְדָּה הַזֹּאת לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.
וַיֵּצֵא חֲמוֹר אֲבִֽי-שְׁכֶם אֶֽל-יַעֲקֹב לְדַבֵּר אִתּֽוֹ׃
And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.
וַיְדַבֵּר חֲמוֹר אִתָּם לֵאמֹר שְׁכֶם בְּנִי חָֽשְׁקָה נַפְשׁוֹ בְּבִתְּכֶם תְּנוּ נָא אֹתָהּ לוֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
וַיַּֽעֲנוּ בְנֵֽי-יַעֲקֹב אֶת-שְׁכֶם וְאֶת-חֲמוֹר אָבִיו בְּמִרְמָה וַיְדַבֵּרוּ אֲשֶׁר טִמֵּא אֵת דִּינָה אֲחֹתָֽם׃
And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:
וַיִּֽיטְבוּ דִבְרֵיהֶם בְּעֵינֵי חֲמוֹר וּבְעֵינֵי שְׁכֶם בֶּן-חֲמֽוֹר׃
And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.
וַיָּבֹא חֲמוֹר וּשְׁכֶם בְּנוֹ אֶל-שַׁעַר עִירָם וַֽיְדַבְּרוּ אֶל-אַנְשֵׁי עִירָם לֵאמֹֽר׃
And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,
וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ אֶל-חֲמוֹר וְאֶל-שְׁכֶם בְּנוֹ כָּל-יֹֽצְאֵי שַׁעַר עִירוֹ וַיִּמֹּלוּ כָּל-זָכָר כָּל-יֹֽצְאֵי שַׁעַר עִירֽוֹ׃
And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.
וְאֶת-חֲמוֹר וְאֶת-שְׁכֶם בְּנוֹ הָֽרְגוּ לְפִי-חָרֶב וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת-דִּינָה מִבֵּית שְׁכֶם וַיֵּצֵֽאוּ׃
And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out.
וְאֶת-עַצְמוֹת יוֹסֵף אֲשֶׁר-הֶֽעֱלוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל׀ מִמִּצְרַיִם קָֽבְרוּ בִשְׁכֶם בְּחֶלְקַת הַשָּׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר קָנָה יַֽעֲקֹב מֵאֵת בְּנֵֽי-חֲמוֹר אֲבִֽי-שְׁכֶם בְּמֵאָה קְשִׂיטָה וַיִּֽהְיוּ לִבְנֵֽי-יוֹסֵף לְנַֽחֲלָֽה׃
And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
וַיֹּאמֶר׀ גַּעַל בֶּן-עֶבֶד מִֽי-אֲבִימֶלֶךְ וּמִֽי-שְׁכֶם כִּי נַֽעַבְדֶנּוּ הֲלֹא בֶן-יְרֻבַּעַל וּזְבֻל פְּקִידוֹ עִבְדוּ אֶת-אַנְשֵׁי חֲמוֹר אֲבִי שְׁכֶם וּמַדּוּעַ נַֽעַבְדֶנּוּ אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃
And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is not he the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his officer? serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem: for why should we serve him?
καὶ μετετέθησαν εἰς Συχὲμ καὶ ἐτέθησαν ἐν τῷ μνήματι ὅ ὠνήσατο Ἀβραὰμ τιμῆς ἀργυρίου παρὰ τῶν υἱῶν Ἑμμὸρ τοῦ Συχέμ
And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
