Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
וַיְהִי כְּבוֹא אַבְרָם מִצְרָיְמָה וַיִּרְאוּ הַמִּצְרִים אֶת-הָאִשָּׁה כִּֽי-יָפָה הִוא מְאֹֽד׃

Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.
וַתִּקַּח שָׂרַי אֵֽשֶׁת-אַבְרָם אֶת-הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית שִׁפְחָתָהּ מִקֵּץ עֶשֶׂר שָׁנִים לְשֶׁבֶת אַבְרָם בְּאֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן וַתִּתֵּן אֹתָהּ לְאַבְרָם אִישָׁהּ לוֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.

Genesis 21

וַתֵּרֶא שָׂרָה אֶֽת-בֶּן-הָגָר הַמִּצְרִית אֲשֶׁר-יָֽלְדָה לְאַבְרָהָם מְצַחֵֽק׃

And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

Genesis 41

וַתִּרְעַב כָּל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַיִּצְעַק הָעָם אֶל-פַּרְעֹה לַלָּחֶם וַיֹּאמֶר פַּרְעֹה לְכָל-מִצְרַיִם לְכוּ אֶל-יוֹסֵף אֲשֶׁר-יֹאמַר לָכֶם תַּֽעֲשֽׂוּ׃

And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

וַיָּשִׂימוּ לוֹ לְבַדּוֹ וְלָהֶם לְבַדָּם וְלַמִּצְרִים הָאֹֽכְלִים אִתּוֹ לְבַדָּם כִּי לֹא יֽוּכְלוּן הַמִּצְרִים לֶֽאֱכֹל אֶת-הָֽעִבְרִים לֶחֶם כִּֽי-תוֹעֵבָה הִוא לְמִצְרָֽיִם׃

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
וַיִּקֶן יוֹסֵף אֶת-כָּל-אַדְמַת מִצְרַיִם לְפַרְעֹה כִּֽי-מָכְרוּ מִצְרַיִם אִישׁ שָׂדֵהוּ כִּֽי-חָזַק עֲלֵהֶם הָֽרָעָב וַתְּהִי הָאָרֶץ לְפַרְעֹֽה׃

And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.

Genesis 50

וַיִּמְלְאוּ-לוֹ אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם כִּי כֵּן יִמְלְאוּ יְמֵי הַֽחֲנֻטִים וַיִּבְכּוּ אֹתוֹ מִצְרַיִם שִׁבְעִים יֽוֹם׃

And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days.

And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.

Exodus 1

וַיַּֽעֲבִדוּ מִצְרַיִם אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּפָֽרֶךְ׃

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
וַתֹּאמַרְןָ הַֽמְיַלְּדֹת אֶל-פַּרְעֹה כִּי לֹא כַנָּשִׁים הַמִּצְרִיֹּת הָֽעִבְרִיֹּת כִּֽי-חָיוֹת הֵנָּה בְּטֶרֶם תָּבוֹא אֲלֵהֶן הַמְיַלֶּדֶת וְיָלָֽדוּ׃

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

Exodus 2

וַיְהִי׀ בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם וַיִּגְדַּל מֹשֶׁה וַיֵּצֵא אֶל-אֶחָיו וַיַּרְא בְּסִבְלֹתָם וַיַּרְא אִישׁ מִצְרִי מַכֶּה אִישׁ-עִבְרִי מֵֽאֶחָֽיו׃

And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
וַיִּפֶן כֹּה וָכֹה וַיַּרְא כִּי אֵין אִישׁ וַיַּךְ אֶת-הַמִּצְרִי וַֽיִּטְמְנֵהוּ בַּחֽוֹל׃

And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
וַיֹּאמֶר מִי שָֽׂמְךָ לְאִישׁ שַׂר וְשֹׁפֵט עָלֵינוּ הַלְהָרְגֵנִי אַתָּה אֹמֵר כַּֽאֲשֶׁר הָרַגְתָּ אֶת-הַמִּצְרִי וַיִּירָא מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמַר אָכֵן נוֹדַע הַדָּבָֽר׃

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
וַתֹּאמַרְןָ אִישׁ מִצְרִי הִצִּילָנוּ מִיַּד הָֽרֹעִים וְגַם-דָּלֹה דָלָה לָנוּ וַיַּשְׁקְ אֶת-הַצֹּֽאן׃

And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.

Exodus 3

וָֽאֵרֵד לְהַצִּילוֹ׀ מִיַּד מִצְרַיִם וּֽלְהַעֲלֹתוֹ מִן-הָאָרֶץ הַהִוא אֶל-אֶרֶץ טוֹבָה וּרְחָבָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ אֶל-מְקוֹם הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהָֽאֱמֹרִי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַֽחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִֽי׃

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
וְעַתָּה הִנֵּה צַֽעֲקַת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּאָה אֵלָי וְגַם-רָאִיתִי אֶת-הַלַּחַץ אֲשֶׁר מִצְרַיִם לֹֽחֲצִים אֹתָֽם׃
9
Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
וְשָֽׁלַחְתִּי אֶת-יָדִי וְהִכֵּיתִי אֶת-מִצְרַיִם בְּכֹל נִפְלְאֹתַי אֲשֶׁר אֶֽעֱשֶׂה בְּקִרְבּוֹ וְאַֽחֲרֵי-כֵן יְשַׁלַּח אֶתְכֶֽם׃

And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.
וְנָֽתַתִּי אֶת-חֵן הָֽעָם-הַזֶּה בְּעֵינֵי מִצְרָיִם וְהָיָה כִּי תֵֽלֵכוּן לֹא תֵֽלְכוּ רֵיקָֽם׃
21
And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:
וְשָֽׁאֲלָה אִשָּׁה מִשְּׁכֶנְתָּהּ וּמִגָּרַת בֵּיתָהּ כְּלֵי-כֶסֶף וּכְלֵי זָהָב וּשְׂמָלֹת וְשַׂמְתֶּם עַל-בְּנֵיכֶם וְעַל-בְּנֹתֵיכֶם וְנִצַּלְתֶּם אֶת-מִצְרָֽיִם׃

But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.

Exodus 7

וְיָֽדְעוּ מִצְרַיִם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה בִּנְטֹתִי אֶת-יָדִי עַל-מִצְרָיִם וְהֽוֹצֵאתִי אֶת-בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָֽם׃
5
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
וְהַדָּגָה אֲשֶׁר-בַּיְאֹר תָּמוּת וּבָאַשׁ הַיְאֹר וְנִלְאוּ מִצְרַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת מַיִם מִן-הַיְאֹֽר׃
18
And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.
וְהַדָּגָה אֲשֶׁר-בַּיְאֹר מֵתָה וַיִּבְאַשׁ הַיְאֹר וְלֹֽא-יָכְלוּ מִצְרַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת מַיִם מִן-הַיְאֹר וַיְהִי הַדָּם בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
וַיַּחְפְּרוּ כָל-מִצְרַיִם סְבִיבֹת הַיְאֹר מַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת כִּי לֹא יָֽכְלוּ לִשְׁתֹּת מִמֵּימֵי הַיְאֹֽר׃

And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

Exodus 8

כִּי אִם-אֵֽינְךָ מְשַׁלֵּחַ אֶת-עַמִּי הִנְנִי מַשְׁלִיחַ בְּךָ וּבַֽעֲבָדֶיךָ וּֽבְעַמְּךָ וּבְבָתֶּיךָ אֶת-הֶֽעָרֹב וּמָלְאוּ בָּתֵּי מִצְרַיִם אֶת-הֶעָרֹב וְגַם הָֽאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר-הֵם עָלֶֽיהָ׃

Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה לֹא נָכוֹן לַֽעֲשׂוֹת כֵּן כִּי תּֽוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם נִזְבַּח לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ הֵן נִזְבַּח אֶת-תּֽוֹעֲבַת מִצְרַיִם לְעֵֽינֵיהֶם וְלֹא יִסְקְלֻֽנוּ׃

And Moses said, It is not meet so to do; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to the LORD our God: lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and will they not stone us?

Exodus 9

וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוָה אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה מִֽמָּחֳרָת וַיָּמָת כֹּל מִקְנֵה מִצְרָיִם וּמִמִּקְנֵה בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא-מֵת אֶחָֽד׃

And the LORD did that thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
וְלֹֽא-יָכְלוּ הַֽחַרְטֻמִּים לַֽעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה מִפְּנֵי הַשְּׁחִין כִּֽי-הָיָה הַשְּׁחִין בַּֽחֲרְטֻמִּם וּבְכָל-מִצְרָֽיִם׃

And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians.

Exodus 10

וּמָֽלְאוּ בָתֶּיךָ וּבָתֵּי כָל-עֲבָדֶיךָ וּבָתֵּי כָל-מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-רָאוּ אֲבֹתֶיךָ וַֽאֲבוֹת אֲבֹתֶיךָ מִיּוֹם הֱיוֹתָם עַל-הָאֲדָמָה עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וַיִּפֶן וַיֵּצֵא מֵעִם פַּרְעֹֽה׃

And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.

Exodus 11

וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה אֶת-חֵן הָעָם בְּעֵינֵי מִצְרָיִם גַּם׀ הָאִישׁ מֹשֶׁה גָּדוֹל מְאֹד בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בְּעֵינֵי עַבְדֵֽי-פַרְעֹה וּבְעֵינֵי הָעָֽם׃

And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

Exodus 12

וַתֶּֽחֱזַק מִצְרַיִם עַל-הָעָם לְמַהֵר לְשַׁלְּחָם מִן-הָאָרֶץ כִּי אָֽמְרוּ כֻּלָּנוּ מֵתִֽים׃

And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.

Exodus 14

וְחִזַּקְתִּי אֶת-לֵב-פַּרְעֹה וְרָדַף אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וְאִכָּֽבְדָה בְּפַרְעֹה וּבְכָל-חֵילוֹ וְיָֽדְעוּ מִצְרַיִם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ-כֵֽן׃

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
וַיִּרְדְּפוּ מִצְרַיִם אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וַיַּשִּׂיגוּ אוֹתָם חֹנִים עַל-הַיָּם כָּל-סוּס רֶכֶב פַּרְעֹה וּפָֽרָשָׁיו וְחֵילוֹ עַל-פִּי הַֽחִירֹת לִפְנֵי בַּעַל צְפֹֽן׃

But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.
וּפַרְעֹה הִקְרִיב וַיִּשְׂאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-עֵֽינֵיהֶם וְהִנֵּה מִצְרַיִם׀ נֹסֵעַ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וַיִּֽירְאוּ מְאֹד וַיִּצְעֲקוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-יְהוָֽה׃

And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
הֲלֹא-זֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְנוּ אֵלֶיךָ בְמִצְרַיִם לֵאמֹר חֲדַל מִמֶּנּוּ וְנַֽעַבְדָה אֶת-מִצְרָיִם כִּי טוֹב לָנוּ עֲבֹד אֶת-מִצְרַיִם מִמֻּתֵנוּ בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-הָעָם אַל-תִּירָאוּ הִֽתְיַצְבוּ וּרְאוּ אֶת-יְשׁוּעַת יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר-יַֽעֲשֶׂה לָכֶם הַיּוֹם כִּי אֲשֶׁר רְאִיתֶם אֶת-מִצְרַיִם הַיּוֹם לֹא תֹסִפוּ לִרְאֹתָם עוֹד עַד-עוֹלָֽם׃

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
וַֽאֲנִי הִנְנִי מְחַזֵּק אֶת-לֵב מִצְרַיִם וְיָבֹאוּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם וְאִכָּֽבְדָה בְּפַרְעֹה וּבְכָל-חֵילוֹ בְּרִכְבּוֹ וּבְפָֽרָשָֽׁיו׃

And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
וְיָֽדְעוּ מִצְרַיִם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה בְּהִכָּֽבְדִי בְּפַרְעֹה בְּרִכְבּוֹ וּבְפָֽרָשָֽׁיו׃

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
וַיִּרְדְּפוּ מִצְרַיִם וַיָּבֹאוּ אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם כֹּל סוּס פַּרְעֹה רִכְבּוֹ וּפָֽרָשָׁיו אֶל-תּוֹךְ הַיָּֽם׃

And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
וַֽיְהִי בְּאַשְׁמֹרֶת הַבֹּקֶר וַיַּשְׁקֵף יְהוָה אֶל-מַֽחֲנֵה מִצְרַיִם בְּעַמּוּד אֵשׁ וְעָנָן וַיָּהָם אֵת מַֽחֲנֵה מִצְרָֽיִם׃

And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,

Exodus 32

לָמָּה יֹֽאמְרוּ מִצְרַיִם לֵאמֹר בְּרָעָה הֽוֹצִיאָם לַֽהֲרֹג אֹתָם בֶּֽהָרִים וּלְכַלֹּתָם מֵעַל פְּנֵי הָֽאֲדָמָה שׁוּב מֵֽחֲרוֹן אַפֶּךָ וְהִנָּחֵם עַל-הָֽרָעָה לְעַמֶּֽךָ׃

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

Leviticus 24

And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.
וּמִצְרַיִם מְקַבְּרִים אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִכָּה יְהוָה בָּהֶם כָּל-בְּכוֹר וּבֵאלֹהֵיהֶם עָשָׂה יְהוָה שְׁפָטִֽים׃

For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten among them: upon their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

Deuteronomy 23

לֹֽא-תְתַעֵב אֲדֹמִי כִּי אָחִיךָ הוּא לֹֽא-תְתַעֵב מִצְרִי כִּי-גֵר הָיִיתָ בְאַרְצֽוֹ׃

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

Deuteronomy 26

וַיָּרֵעוּ אֹתָנוּ הַמִּצְרִים וַיְעַנּוּנוּ וַיִּתְּנוּ עָלֵינוּ עֲבֹדָה קָשָֽׁה׃

And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
