וַיֹּאמֶר מָה הָֽעֵרָבוֹן אֲשֶׁר אֶתֶּן-לָּךְ וַתֹּאמֶר חֹתָֽמְךָ וּפְתִילֶךָ וּמַטְּךָ אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדֶךָ וַיִּתֶּן-לָּהּ וַיָּבֹא אֵלֶיהָ וַתַּהַר לֽוֹ׃
And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.
הִוא מוּצֵאת וְהִיא שָֽׁלְחָה אֶל-חָמִיהָ לֵאמֹר לְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר-אֵלֶּה לּוֹ אָֽנֹכִי הָרָה וַתֹּאמֶר הַכֶּר-נָא לְמִי הַחֹתֶמֶת וְהַפְּתִילִים וְהַמַּטֶּה הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
לֹֽא-יָסוּר שֵׁבֶט מִֽיהוּדָה וּמְחֹקֵק מִבֵּין רַגְלָיו עַד כִּֽי-יָבֹא (שילה) שִׁילוֹ וְלוֹ יִקְּהַת עַמִּֽים׃
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
דָּן יָדִין עַמּוֹ כְּאַחַד שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
כָּל-אֵלֶּה שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר וְזֹאת אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר לָהֶם אֲבִיהֶם וַיְבָרֶךְ אוֹתָם אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר כְּבִרְכָתוֹ בֵּרַךְ אֹתָֽם׃
All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יְהוָה (מזה) מַה-זֶּה בְיָדֶךָ וַיֹּאמֶר מַטֶּֽה׃
And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה שְׁלַח יָֽדְךָ וֶֽאֱחֹז בִּזְנָבוֹ וַיִּשְׁלַח יָדוֹ וַיַּחֲזֶק בּוֹ וַיְהִי לְמַטֶּה בְּכַפּֽוֹ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
וְאֶת-הַמַּטֶּה הַזֶּה תִּקַּח בְּיָדֶךָ אֲשֶׁר תַּֽעֲשֶׂה-בּוֹ אֶת-הָֽאֹתֹֽת׃
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-אִשְׁתּוֹ וְאֶת-בָּנָיו וַיַּרְכִּבֵם עַֽל-הַחֲמֹר וַיָּשָׁב אַרְצָה מִצְרָיִם וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּה הָֽאֱלֹהִים בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
כִּי יְדַבֵּר אֲלֵכֶם פַּרְעֹה לֵאמֹר תְּנוּ לָכֶם מוֹפֵת וְאָֽמַרְתָּ אֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן קַח אֶֽת-מַטְּךָ וְהַשְׁלֵךְ לִפְנֵֽי-פַרְעֹה יְהִי לְתַנִּֽין׃
When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.
וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וַיַּעַשׂוּ כֵן כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אַֽהֲרֹן אֶת-מַטֵּהוּ לִפְנֵי פַרְעֹה וְלִפְנֵי עֲבָדָיו וַיְהִי לְתַנִּֽין׃
And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
וַיַּשְׁלִיכוּ אִישׁ מַטֵּהוּ וַיִּֽהְיוּ לְתַנִּינִם וַיִּבְלַע מַטֵּֽה-אַהֲרֹן אֶת-מַטֹּתָֽם׃
For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.
לֵךְ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה בַּבֹּקֶר הִנֵּה יֹצֵא הַמַּיְמָה וְנִצַּבְתָּ לִקְרָאתוֹ עַל-שְׂפַת הַיְאֹר וְהַמַּטֶּה אֲשֶׁר-נֶהְפַּךְ לְנָחָשׁ תִּקַּח בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃
Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה בְּזֹאת תֵּדַע כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה הִנֵּה אָֽנֹכִי מַכֶּה׀ בַּמַּטֶּה אֲשֶׁר-בְּיָדִי עַל-הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר בַּיְאֹר וְנֶֽהֶפְכוּ לְדָֽם׃
Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה אֱמֹר אֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן קַח מַטְּךָ וּנְטֵֽה-יָדְךָ עַל-מֵימֵי מִצְרַיִם עַֽל-נַהֲרֹתָם׀ עַל-יְאֹֽרֵיהֶם וְעַל-אַגְמֵיהֶם וְעַל כָּל-מִקְוֵה מֵֽימֵיהֶם וְיִֽהְיוּ-דָם וְהָיָה דָם בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וּבָֽעֵצִים וּבָֽאֲבָנִֽים׃
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ-כֵן מֹשֶׁה וְאַֽהֲרֹן כַּֽאֲשֶׁר׀ צִוָּה יְהוָה וַיָּרֶם בַּמַּטֶּה וַיַּךְ אֶת-הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר בַּיְאֹר לְעֵינֵי פַרְעֹה וּלְעֵינֵי עֲבָדָיו וַיֵּהָֽפְכוּ כָּל-הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר-בַּיְאֹר לְדָֽם׃
And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה אֱמֹר אֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן נְטֵה אֶת-יָֽדְךָ בְּמַטֶּךָ עַל-הַנְּהָרֹת עַל-הַיְאֹרִים וְעַל-הָֽאֲגַמִּים וְהַעַל אֶת-הַֽצְפַרְדְּעִים עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה אֱמֹר אֶֽל-אַהֲרֹן נְטֵה אֶֽת-מַטְּךָ וְהַךְ אֶת-עֲפַר הָאָרֶץ וְהָיָה לְכִנִּם בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
וַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ-כֵן וַיֵּט אַֽהֲרֹן אֶת-יָדוֹ בְמַטֵּהוּ וַיַּךְ אֶת-עֲפַר הָאָרֶץ וַתְּהִי הַכִּנָּם בָּֽאָדָם וּבַבְּהֵמָה כָּל-עֲפַר הָאָרֶץ הָיָה כִנִּים בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
וַיֵּט מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּהוּ עַל-הַשָּׁמַיִם וַֽיהוָה נָתַן קֹלֹת וּבָרָד וַתִּהֲלַךְ אֵשׁ אָרְצָה וַיַּמְטֵר יְהוָה בָּרָד עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
וַיֵּט מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּהוּ עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַֽיהוָה נִהַג רֽוּחַ-קָדִים בָּאָרֶץ כָּל-הַיּוֹם הַהוּא וְכָל-הַלָּיְלָה הַבֹּקֶר הָיָה וְרוּחַ הַקָּדִים נָשָׂא אֶת-הָֽאַרְבֶּֽה׃
And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.
וְאַתָּה הָרֵם אֶֽת-מַטְּךָ וּנְטֵה אֶת-יָֽדְךָ עַל-הַיָּם וּבְקָעֵהוּ וְיָבֹאוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּם בַּיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃
But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה עֲבֹר לִפְנֵי הָעָם וְקַח אִתְּךָ מִזִּקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמַטְּךָ אֲשֶׁר הִכִּיתָ בּוֹ אֶת-הַיְאֹר קַח בְּיָֽדְךָ וְהָלָֽכְתָּ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בְּחַר-לָנוּ אֲנָשִׁים וְצֵא הִלָּחֵם בַּֽעֲמָלֵק מָחָר אָֽנֹכִי נִצָּב עַל-רֹאשׁ הַגִּבְעָה וּמַטֵּה הָֽאֱלֹהִים בְּיָדִֽי׃
And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
וְכִֽי-יַכֶּה אִישׁ אֶת-עַבְדּוֹ אוֹ אֶת-אֲמָתוֹ בַּשֵּׁבֶט וּמֵת תַּחַת יָדוֹ נָקֹם יִנָּקֵֽם׃
And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.
וַיִּכְתֹּב מֹשֶׁה אֵת כָּל-דִּבְרֵי יְהוָה וַיַּשְׁכֵּם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּבֶן מִזְבֵּחַ תַּחַת הָהָר וּשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה מַצֵּבָה לִשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
וְהָֽאֲבָנִים תִּֽהְיֶיןָ עַל-שְׁמֹת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה עַל-שְׁמֹתָם פִּתּוּחֵי חוֹתָם אִישׁ עַל-שְׁמוֹ תִּֽהְיֶיןָ לִשְׁנֵי עָשָׂר שָֽׁבֶט׃
And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.
רְאֵה קָרָאתִֽי בְשֵׁם בְּצַלְאֵל בֶּן-אוּרִי בֶן-חוּר לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָֽה׃
See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
וַֽאֲנִי הִנֵּה נָתַתִּי אִתּוֹ אֵת אָֽהֳלִיאָב בֶּן-אֲחִֽיסָמָךְ לְמַטֵּה-דָן וּבְלֵב כָּל-חֲכַם-לֵב נָתַתִּי חָכְמָה וְעָשׂוּ אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִֽךָ׃
And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רְאוּ קָרָא יְהוָה בְּשֵׁם בְּצַלְאֵל בֶּן-אוּרִי בֶן-חוּר לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָֽה׃
And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
וּלְהוֹרֹת נָתַן בְּלִבּוֹ הוּא וְאָֽהֳלִיאָב בֶּן-אֲחִֽיסָמָךְ לְמַטֵּה-דָֽן׃
And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.
וּבְצַלְאֵל בֶּן-אוּרִי בֶן-חוּר לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה עָשָׂה אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶֽׁה׃
And Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the LORD commanded Moses.
וְאִתּוֹ אָֽהֳלִיאָב בֶּן-אֲחִֽיסָמָךְ לְמַטֵּה-דָן חָרָשׁ וְחֹשֵׁב וְרֹקֵם בַּתְּכֵלֶת וּבָֽאַרְגָּמָן וּבְתוֹלַעַת הַשָּׁנִי וּבַשֵּֽׁשׁ׃
And with him was Aholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver, and a cunning workman, and an embroiderer in blue, and in purple, and in scarlet, and fine linen.
וְהָֽאֲבָנִים עַל-שְׁמֹת בְּנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵנָּה שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה עַל-שְׁמֹתָם פִּתּוּחֵי חֹתָם אִישׁ עַל-שְׁמוֹ לִשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר שָֽׁבֶט׃
And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, every one with his name, according to the twelve tribes.
וַיִּקֹּב בֶּן-הָֽאִשָּׁה הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִית אֶת-הַשֵּׁם וַיְקַלֵּל וַיָּבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְשֵׁם אִמּוֹ שְׁלֹמִית בַּת-דִּבְרִי לְמַטֵּה-דָֽן׃
And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the Lord, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:)
בְּשִׁבְרִי לָכֶם מַטֵּה-לֶחֶם וְאָפוּ עֶשֶׂר נָשִׁים לַחְמְכֶם בְּתַנּוּר אֶחָד וְהֵשִׁיבוּ לַחְמְכֶם בַּמִּשְׁקָל וַֽאֲכַלְתֶּם וְלֹא תִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃
And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
וְכָל-מַעְשַׂר בָּקָר וָצֹאן כֹּל אֲשֶׁר-יַעֲבֹר תַּחַת הַשָּׁבֶט הָֽעֲשִׂירִי יִֽהְיֶה-קֹּדֶשׁ לַֽיהוָֽה׃
And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
וְאִתְּכֶם יִֽהְיוּ אִישׁ אִישׁ לַמַּטֶּה אִישׁ רֹאשׁ לְבֵית-אֲבֹתָיו הֽוּא׃
And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
אֵלֶּה (קריאי) קְרוּאֵי הָֽעֵדָה נְשִׂיאֵי מַטּוֹת אֲבוֹתָם רָאשֵׁי אַלְפֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵֽם׃
These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה רְאוּבֵן שִׁשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וַֽחֲמֵשׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה שִׁמְעוֹן תִּשְׁעָה וַֽחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה גָד חֲמִשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת וַֽחֲמִשִּֽׁים׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָה אַרְבָּעָה וְשִׁבְעִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה יִשָּׂשכָר אַרְבָּעָה וַֽחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה זְבוּלֻן שִׁבְעָה וַֽחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה אֶפְרָיִם אַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וַֽחֲמֵשׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה שְׁנַיִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁים אֶלֶף וּמָאתָֽיִם׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה בִנְיָמִן חֲמִשָּׁה וּשְׁלֹשִׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה דָן שְׁנַיִם וְשִׁשִּׁים אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה אָשֵׁר אֶחָד וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וַֽחֲמֵשׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
פְּקֻֽדֵיהֶם לְמַטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי שְׁלֹשָׁה וַֽחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאֽוֹת׃
Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
וְהַלְוִיִּם לְמַטֵּה אֲבֹתָם לֹא הָתְפָּֽקְדוּ בְּתוֹכָֽם׃
But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
אַךְ אֶת-מַטֵּה לֵוִי לֹא תִפְקֹד וְאֶת-רֹאשָׁם לֹא תִשָּׂא בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
וְהַֽחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה יִשָּׂשכָר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי יִשָּׂשכָר נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָֽר׃
And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar.
מַטֵּה זְבוּלֻן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹֽן׃
Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun.
וְהַֽחוֹנִם עָלָיו מַטֵּה שִׁמְעוֹן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻֽמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
וְמַטֵּה גָּד וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-רְעוּאֵֽל׃
Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.
וְעָלָיו מַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה גַּמְלִיאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָהצֽוּר׃
And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
וּמַטֵּה בִּנְיָמִן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי בִנְיָמִן אֲבִידָן בֶּן-גִּדְעֹנִֽי׃
Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.
וְהַֽחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה אָשֵׁר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אָשֵׁר פַּגְעִיאֵל בֶּן-עָכְרָֽן׃
And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran.
וּמַטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי נַפְתָּלִי אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָֽן׃
Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.
הַקְרֵב אֶת-מַטֵּה לֵוִי וְהַֽעֲמַדְתָּ אֹתוֹ לִפְנֵי אַֽהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן וְשֵֽׁרְתוּ אֹתֽוֹ׃
Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.
אַל-תַּכְרִיתוּ אֶת-שֵׁבֶט מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי מִתּוֹךְ הַלְוִיִּֽם׃
Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
וַיַּקְרִיבוּ נְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רָאשֵׁי בֵּית אֲבֹתָם הֵם נְשִׂיאֵי הַמַּטֹּת הֵם הָעֹֽמְדִים עַל-הַפְּקֻדִֽים׃
That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
וַיְהִי הַמַּקְרִיב בַּיּוֹם הָֽרִאשׁוֹן אֶת-קָרְבָּנוֹ נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן-עַמִּֽינָדָב לְמַטֵּה יְהוּדָֽה׃
And he that offered his offering the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah:
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי יִשָׂשכָר נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָֽר׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹֽן׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻֽמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִֽישַׁדָּֽי׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְנֵי-גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-דְּעוּאֵֽל׃
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
וְעַל-צְבָא מַטֵּה בְּנֵי מְנַשֶּׁה גַּמְלִיאֵל בֶּן-פְּדָה-צֽוּר
And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

שְׁלַח-לְךָ אֲנָשִׁים וְיָתֻרוּ אֶת-אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר-אֲנִי נֹתֵן לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִישׁ אֶחָד אִישׁ אֶחָד לְמַטֵּה אֲבֹתָיו תִּשְׁלָחוּ כֹּל נָשִׂיא בָהֶֽם׃
Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמוֹתָם לְמַטֵּה רְאוּבֵן שַׁמּוּעַ בֶּן-זַכּֽוּר׃
And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
לְמַטֵּה יוֹסֵף לְמַטֵּה מְנַשֶּׁה גַּדִּי בֶּן-סוּסִֽי׃
Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
דַּבֵּר׀ אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְקַח מֵֽאִתָּם מַטֶּה מַטֶּה לְבֵית אָב מֵאֵת כָּל-נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר מַטּוֹת אִישׁ אֶת-שְׁמוֹ תִּכְתֹּב עַל-מַטֵּֽהוּ׃
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.
וְאֵת שֵׁם אַֽהֲרֹן תִּכְתֹּב עַל-מַטֵּה לֵוִי כִּי מַטֶּה אֶחָד לְרֹאשׁ בֵּית אֲבוֹתָֽם׃
And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
וְהָיָה הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר אֶבְחַר-בּוֹ מַטֵּהוּ יִפְרָח וַֽהֲשִׁכֹּתִי מֵֽעָלַי אֶת-תְּלֻנּוֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר הֵם מַלִּינִם עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃
And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
וַיְדַבֵּר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתְּנוּ אֵלָיו׀ כָּֽל-נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶם מַטֶּה לְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד מַטֶּה לְנָשִׂיא אֶחָד לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר מַטּוֹת וּמַטֵּה אַֽהֲרֹן בְּתוֹךְ מַטּוֹתָֽם׃
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
וַיַּנַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-הַמַּטֹּת לִפְנֵי יְהוָה בְּאֹהֶל הָֽעֵדֻֽת׃
And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.
וַיְהִי מִֽמָּחֳרָת וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה אֶל-אֹהֶל הָֽעֵדוּת וְהִנֵּה פָּרַח מַטֵּֽה-אַהֲרֹן לְבֵית לֵוִי וַיֹּצֵֽא פֶרַח וַיָּצֵֽץ צִיץ וַיִּגְמֹל שְׁקֵדִֽים׃
And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
וַיֹּצֵא מֹשֶׁה אֶת-כָּל-הַמַּטֹּת מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה אֶֽל-כָּל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּרְאוּ וַיִּקְחוּ אִישׁ מַטֵּֽהוּ׃
And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה הָשֵׁב אֶת-מַטֵּה אַֽהֲרֹן לִפְנֵי הָֽעֵדוּת לְמִשְׁמֶרֶת לְאוֹת לִבְנֵי-מֶרִי וּתְכַל תְּלוּנֹּתָם מֵֽעָלַי וְלֹא יָמֻֽתוּ׃
And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
וְגַם אֶת-אַחֶיךָ מַטֵּה לֵוִי שֵׁבֶט אָבִיךָ הַקְרֵב אִתָּךְ וְיִלָּווּ עָלֶיךָ וִֽישָׁרְתוּךָ וְאַתָּה וּבָנֶיךָ אִתָּךְ לִפְנֵי אֹהֶל הָֽעֵדֻֽת׃
And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
קַח אֶת-הַמַּטֶּה וְהַקְהֵל אֶת-הָֽעֵדָה אַתָּה וְאַֽהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ וְדִבַּרְתֶּם אֶל-הַסֶּלַע לְעֵֽינֵיהֶם וְנָתַן מֵימָיו וְהֽוֹצֵאתָ לָהֶם מַיִם מִן-הַסֶּלַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ אֶת-הָֽעֵדָה וְאֶת-בְּעִירָֽם׃
Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-הַמַּטֶּה מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צִוָּֽהוּ׃
And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
וַיָּרֶם מֹשֶׁה אֶת-יָדוֹ וַיַּךְ אֶת-הַסֶּלַע בְּמַטֵּהוּ פַּֽעֲמָיִם וַיֵּֽצְאוּ מַיִם רַבִּים וַתֵּשְׁתְּ הָֽעֵדָה וּבְעִירָֽם׃
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
וַיִּשָּׂא בִלְעָם אֶת-עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל שֹׁכֵן לִשְׁבָטָיו וַתְּהִי עָלָיו רוּחַ אֱלֹהִֽים׃
And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
אֶרְאֶנּוּ וְלֹא עַתָּה אֲשׁוּרֶנּוּ וְלֹא קָרוֹב דָּרַךְ כּוֹכָב מִֽיַּעֲקֹב וְקָם שֵׁבֶט מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל וּמָחַץ פַּֽאֲתֵי מוֹאָב וְקַרְקַר כָּל-בְּנֵי-שֵֽׁת׃
I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
