מָֽה-אֱנוֹשׁ כִּי תְגַדְּלֶנּוּ וְכִי-תָשִׁית אֵלָיו לִבֶּֽךָ׃
What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?
הֲלֹא-הֵם יוֹרוּךָ יֹאמְרוּ לָךְ וּמִלִּבָּם יוֹצִאוּ מִלִּֽים׃
Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
חֲכַם לֵבָב וְאַמִּיץ כֹּחַ מִֽי-הִקְשָׁה אֵלָיו וַיִּשְׁלָֽם׃
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
וְאֵלֶּה צָפַנְתָּ בִלְבָבֶךָ יָדַעְתִּי כִּי-זֹאת עִמָּֽךְ׃
And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.
אִם-אַתָּה הֲכִינוֹתָ לִבֶּךָ וּפָרַשְׂתָּ אֵלָיו כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃
If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;
גַּם-לִי לֵבָב׀ כְּֽמוֹכֶם לֹא-נֹפֵל אָנֹכִי מִכֶּם וְאֶת-מִי-אֵין כְּמוֹ-אֵֽלֶּה׃
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
מֵסִיר לֵב רָאשֵׁי עַם-הָאָרֶץ וַיַּתְעֵם בְּתֹהוּ לֹא-דָֽרֶךְ׃
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
מַה-יִּקָּחֲךָ לִבֶּךָ וּֽמַה-יִּרְזְמוּן עֵינֶֽיךָ׃
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
כִּֽי-לִבָּם צָפַנְתָּ מִּשָּׂכֶל עַל-כֵּן לֹא תְרֹמֵֽם׃
For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt them.
יָמַי עָבְרוּ זִמֹּתַי נִתְּקוּ מוֹרָשֵׁי לְבָבִֽי׃
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.
קַח-נָא מִפִּיו תּוֹרָה וְשִׂים אֲמָרָיו בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃
Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
וְאֵל הֵרַךְ לִבִּי וְשַׁדַּי הִבְהִילָֽנִי׃
For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
בְּצִדְקָתִי הֶחֱזַקְתִּי וְלֹא אַרְפֶּהָ לֹֽא-יֶחֱרַף לְבָבִי מִיָּמָֽי׃
My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
בִּרְכַּת אֹבֵד עָלַי תָּבֹא וְלֵב אַלְמָנָה אַרְנִֽן׃
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
אִם תִּטֶּה אַשֻּׁרִי מִנִּי הַדָּרֶךְ וְאַחַר עֵינַי הָלַךְ לִבִּי וּבְכַפַּי דָּבַק מֻאֽוּם׃
If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
אִם-נִפְתָּה לִבִּי עַל-אִשָּׁה וְעַל-פֶּתַח רֵעִי אָרָֽבְתִּי׃
If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;
וַיִּפְתְּ בַּסֵּתֶר לִבִּי וַתִּשַּׁק יָדִי לְפִֽי׃
And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
יֹֽשֶׁר-לִבִּי אֲמָרָי וְדַעַת שְׂפָתַי בָּרוּר מִלֵּֽלוּ׃
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
לָכֵן׀ אַנֲשֵׁי לֵבָב שִׁמְעוּ לִי חָלִלָה לָאֵל מֵרֶשַׁע וְשַׁדַּי מֵעָֽוֶל׃
Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
אִם-יָשִׂים אֵלָיו לִבּוֹ רוּחוֹ וְנִשְׁמָתוֹ אֵלָיו יֶאֱסֹֽף׃
If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
אַנְשֵׁי לֵבָב יֹאמְרוּ לִי וְגֶבֶר חָכָם שֹׁמֵעַֽ לִֽי׃
Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
הֶן-אֵל כַּבִּיר וְלֹא יִמְאָס כַּבִּיר כֹּחַֽ לֵֽב׃
Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
וְֽחַנְפֵי-לֵב יָשִׂימוּ אָף לֹא יְשַׁוְּעוּ כִּי אֲסָרָֽם׃
But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them.
אַף-לְזֹאת יֶחֱרַד לִבִּי וְיִתַּר מִמְּקוֹמֽוֹ׃
At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.
לָכֵן יְרֵאוּהוּ אֲנָשִׁים לֹֽא-יִרְאֶה כָּל-חַכְמֵי-לֵֽב׃
Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
לִבּוֹ יָצוּק כְּמוֹ-אָבֶן וְיָצוּק כְּפֶלַח תַּחְתִּֽית׃
His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
רִגְזוּ וְֽאַל-תֶּחֱטָאוּ אִמְרוּ בִלְבַבְכֶם עַֽל-מִשְׁכַּבְכֶם וְדֹמּוּ סֶֽלָה׃
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
נָתַתָּה שִׂמְחָה בְלִבִּי מֵעֵת דְּגָנָם וְתִֽירוֹשָׁם רָֽבּוּ׃
Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
מָֽגִנִּי עַל-אֱלֹהִים מוֹשִׁיעַ יִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
אוֹדֶה יְהוָה בְּכָל-לִבִּי אֲסַפְּרָה כָּל-נִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ בַּל-אֶמּוֹט לְדֹר וָדֹר אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-בְרָֽע׃
He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ שָׁכַֽח אֵל הִסְתִּיר פָּנָיו בַּל-רָאָה לָנֶֽצַח׃
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
עַל-מֶה׀ נִאֵץ רָשָׁע׀ אֱלֹהִים אָמַר בְּלִבּוֹ לֹא תִּדְרֹֽשׁ׃
Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
תַּאֲוַת עֲנָוִים שָׁמַעְתָּ יְהוָה תָּכִין לִבָּם תַּקְשִׁיב אָזְנֶֽךָ׃
LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
כִּי הִנֵּה הָרְשָׁעִים יִדְרְכוּן קֶשֶׁת כּוֹנְנוּ חִצָּם עַל-יֶתֶר לִירוֹת בְּמוֹ-אֹפֶל לְיִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
שָׁוְא׀ יְֽדַבְּרוּ אִישׁ אֶת-רֵעֵהוּ שְׂפַת חֲלָקוֹת בְּלֵב וָלֵב יְדַבֵּֽרוּ׃
They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
עַד-אָנָה אָשִׁית עֵצוֹת בְּנַפְשִׁי יָגוֹן בִּלְבָבִי יוֹמָם עַד-אָנָה׀ יָרוּם אֹיְבִי עָלָֽי׃
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
וַאֲנִי׀ בְּחַסְדְּךָ בָטַחְתִּי יָגֵל לִבִּי בִּֽישׁוּעָתֶךָ
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
אָמַר נָבָל בְּלִבּוֹ אֵין אֱלֹהִים הִֽשְׁחִיתוּ הִֽתְעִיבוּ עֲלִילָה אֵין עֹֽשֵׂה-טֽוֹב׃
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
הוֹלֵךְ תָּמִים וּפֹעֵל צֶדֶק וְדֹבֵר אֱמֶת בִּלְבָבֽוֹ׃
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
לָכֵן׀ שָׂמַח לִבִּי וַיָּגֶל כְּבוֹדִי אַף-בְּשָׂרִי יִשְׁכֹּן לָבֶֽטַח׃
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
בָּחַנְתָּ לִבִּי׀ פָּקַדְתָּ לַּיְלָה צְרַפְתַּנִי בַל-תִּמְצָא זַמֹּתִי בַּל-יַעֲבָר-פִּֽי׃
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
פִּקּוּדֵי יְהוָה יְשָׁרִים מְשַׂמְּחֵי-לֵב מִצְוַת יְהוָה בָּרָה מְאִירַת עֵינָֽיִם׃
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
יִֽהְיוּ לְרָצוֹן׀ אִמְרֵי-פִי וְהֶגְיוֹן לִבִּי לְפָנֶיךָ יְהוָה צוּרִי וְגֹאֲלִֽי׃
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
יִֽתֶּן-לְךָ כִלְבָבֶךָ וְֽכָל-עֲצָתְךָ יְמַלֵּֽא׃
Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
תַּאֲוַת לִבּוֹ נָתַתָּה לּוֹ וַאֲרֶשֶׁת שְׂפָתָיו בַּל-מָנַעְתָּ סֶּֽלָה׃
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
כַּמַּיִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי וְהִתְפָּֽרְדוּ כָּֽל-עַצְמוֹתָי הָיָה לִבִּי כַּדּוֹנָג נָמֵס בְּתוֹךְ מֵעָֽי׃
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
יֹאכְלוּ עֲנָוִים׀ וְיִשְׂבָּעוּ יְהַֽלְלוּ יְהוָה דֹּרְשָׁיו יְחִי לְבַבְכֶם לָעַֽד׃
The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
נְקִי כַפַּיִם וּֽבַר-לֵבָב אֲשֶׁר׀ לֹא-נָשָׂא לַשָּׁוְא נַפְשִׁי וְלֹא נִשְׁבַּע לְמִרְמָֽה׃
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
צָרוֹת לְבָבִי הִרְחִיבוּ מִמְּצֽוּקוֹתַי הוֹצִיאֵֽנִי׃
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
בְּחָנֵנִי יְהוָה וְנַסֵּנִי צָרְפָה כִלְיוֹתַי וְלִבִּֽי׃
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
אִם-תַּחֲנֶה עָלַי׀ מַחֲנֶה לֹֽא-יִירָא לִבִּי אִם-תָּקוּם עָלַי מִלְחָמָה בְּזֹאת אֲנִי בוֹטֵֽחַ׃
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
לְךָ׀ אָמַר לִבִּי בַּקְּשׁוּ פָנָי אֶת-פָּנֶיךָ יְהוָה אֲבַקֵּֽשׁ׃
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.
קַוֵּה אֶל-יְהוָה חֲזַק וְיַאֲמֵץ לִבֶּךָ וְקַוֵּה אֶל-יְהוָֽה׃
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
אַל-תִּמְשְׁכֵנִי עִם-רְשָׁעִים וְעִם-פֹּעֲלֵי אָוֶן דֹּבְרֵי שָׁלוֹם עִם-רֵֽעֵיהֶם וְרָעָה בִּלְבָבָֽם׃
Draw away me not with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
יְהוָה׀ עֻזִּי וּמָגִנִּי בּוֹ בָטַח לִבִּי וְֽנֶעֱזָרְתִּי וַיַּעֲלֹז לִבִּי וּֽמִשִּׁירִי אֲהוֹדֶֽנּוּ׃
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
נִשְׁכַּחְתִּי כְּמֵת מִלֵּב הָיִיתִי כִּכְלִי אֹבֵֽד׃
I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
חִזְקוּ וְיַאֲמֵץ לְבַבְכֶם כָּל-הַמְיַחֲלִים לַיהוָֽה׃
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.
שִׂמְחוּ בַֽיהוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל-יִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
עֲצַת יְהוָה לְעוֹלָם תַּעֲמֹד מַחְשְׁבוֹת לִבּוֹ לְדֹר וָדֹֽר׃
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
הַיֹּצֵר יַחַד לִבָּם הַמֵּבִין אֶל-כָּל-מַעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
כִּי-בוֹ יִשְׂמַח לִבֵּנוּ כִּי בְשֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ בָטָֽחְנוּ׃
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
קָרוֹב יְהוָה לְנִשְׁבְּרֵי-לֵב וְֽאֶת-דַּכְּאֵי-רוּחַ יוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
אַל-יֹאמְרוּ בְלִבָּם הֶאָח נַפְשֵׁנוּ אַל-יֹאמְרוּ בִּֽלַּעֲנֽוּהוּ׃
Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
נְאֻֽם-פֶּשַׁע לָרָשָׁע בְּקֶרֶב לִבִּי אֵֽין-פַּחַד אֱלֹהִים לְנֶגֶד עֵינָֽיו׃
The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
מְשֹׁךְ חַסְדְּךָ לְיֹדְעֶיךָ וְצִדְקָֽתְךָ לְיִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
וְהִתְעַנַּג עַל-יְהוָה וְיִֽתֶּן-לְךָ מִשְׁאֲלֹת לִבֶּֽךָ׃
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
חַרְבָּם תָּבוֹא בְלִבָּם וְקַשְּׁתוֹתָם תִּשָּׁבַֽרְנָה׃
Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
תּוֹרַת אֱלֹהָיו בְּלִבּוֹ לֹא תִמְעַד אֲשֻׁרָֽיו׃
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
נְפוּגוֹתִי וְנִדְכֵּיתִי עַד-מְאֹד שָׁאַגְתִּי מִֽנַּהֲמַת לִבִּֽי׃
I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
לִבִּי סְחַרְחַר עֲזָבַנִי כֹחִי וְֽאוֹר-עֵינַי גַּם-הֵם אֵין אִתִּֽי׃
My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
חַם-לִבִּי׀ בְּקִרְבִּי בַּהֲגִיגִי תִבְעַר-אֵשׁ דִּבַּרְתִּי בִּלְשֽׁוֹנִי׃
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
צִדְקָתְךָ לֹא-כִסִּיתִי׀ בְּתוֹךְ לִבִּי אֱמוּנָתְךָ וּתְשׁוּעָתְךָ אָמָרְתִּי לֹא-כִחַדְתִּי חַסְדְּךָ וַאֲמִתְּךָ לְקָהָל רָֽב׃
I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
כִּי אָפְפוּ-עָלַי׀ רָעוֹת עַד-אֵין מִסְפָּר הִשִּׂיגוּנִי עֲוֺנֹתַי וְלֹא-יָכֹלְתִּי לִרְאוֹת עָצְמוּ מִשַּֽׂעֲרוֹת רֹאשִׁי וְלִבִּי עֲזָבָֽנִי׃
For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
וְאִם-בָּא לִרְאוֹת׀ שָׁוְא יְדַבֵּר לִבּוֹ יִקְבָּץ-אָוֶן לוֹ יֵצֵא לַחוּץ יְדַבֵּֽר׃
And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.
לֹא-נָסוֹג אָחוֹר לִבֵּנוּ וַתֵּט אֲשֻׁרֵינוּ מִנִּי אָרְחֶֽךָ׃
Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
הֲלֹא אֱלֹהִים יַֽחֲקָר-זֹאת כִּֽי-הוּא יֹדֵעַ תַּעֲלֻמוֹת לֵֽב׃
Shall not God search out? this for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
רָחַשׁ לִבִּי׀ דָּבָר טוֹב אֹמֵר אָנִי מַעֲשַׂי לְמֶלֶךְ לְשׁוֹנִי עֵט׀ סוֹפֵר מָהִֽיר׃
My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
חִצֶּיךָ שְׁנוּנִים עַמִּים תַּחְתֶּיךָ יִפְּלוּ בְּלֵב אוֹיְבֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
עַל-כֵּן לֹא-נִירָא בְּהָמִיר אָרֶץ וּבְמוֹט הָרִים בְּלֵב יַמִּֽים׃
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
שִׁיתוּ לִבְּכֶם׀ לְֽחֵילָה פַּסְּגוּ אַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָ לְמַעַן תְּסַפְּרוּ לְדוֹר אַחֲרֽוֹן׃
Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
פִּי יְדַבֵּר חָכְמוֹת וְהָגוּת לִבִּי תְבוּנֽוֹת׃
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
לֵב טָהוֹר בְּרָא-לִי אֱלֹהִים וְרוּחַ נָכוֹן חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּֽי׃
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
זִֽבְחֵי אֱלֹהִים רוּחַ נִשְׁבָּרָה לֵב-נִשְׁבָּר וְנִדְכֶּה אֱלֹהִים לֹא תִבְזֶֽה׃
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
אָמַר נָבָל בְּלִבּוֹ אֵין אֱלֹהִים הִֽשְׁחִיתוּ וְהִֽתְעִיבוּ עָוֶל אֵין עֹֽשֵׂה-טֽוֹב׃
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
לִבִּי יָחִיל בְּקִרְבִּי וְאֵימוֹת מָוֶת נָפְלוּ עָלָֽי׃
My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
חָלְקוּ׀ מַחְמָאֹת פִּיו וּֽקֲרָב-לִבּוֹ רַכּוּ דְבָרָיו מִשֶּׁמֶן וְהֵמָּה פְתִחֽוֹת׃
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
נָכוֹן לִבִּי אֱלֹהִים נָכוֹן לִבִּי אָשִׁירָה וַאֲזַמֵּֽרָה׃
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
אַף-בְּלֵב עוֹלֹת תִּפְעָלוּן בָּאָרֶץ חֲמַס יְדֵיכֶם תְּפַלֵּֽסֽוּן׃
Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
מִקְצֵה הָאָרֶץ׀ אֵלֶיךָ אֶקְרָא בַּעֲטֹף לִבִּי בְּצוּר-יָרוּם מִמֶּנִּי תַנְחֵֽנִי׃
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
בִּטְחוּ בוֹ בְכָל-עֵת׀ עָם שִׁפְכֽוּ-לְפָנָיו לְבַבְכֶם אֱלֹהִים מַחֲסֶה-לָּנוּ סֶֽלָה׃
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
אַל-תִּבְטְחוּ בְעֹשֶׁק וּבְגָזֵל אַל-תֶּהְבָּלוּ חַיִל׀ כִּֽי-יָנוּב אַל-תָּשִׁיתוּ לֵֽב׃
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
יַֽחְפְּֽשׂוּ-עוֹלֹת תַּמְנוּ חֵפֶשׂ מְחֻפָּשׂ וְקֶרֶב אִישׁ וְלֵב עָמֹֽק׃
They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
יִשְׂמַח צַדִּיק בַּיהוָה וְחָסָה בוֹ וְיִתְהַֽלְלוּ כָּל-יִשְׁרֵי-לֵֽב׃
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
אָוֶן אִם-רָאִיתִי בְלִבִּי לֹא יִשְׁמַע׀ אֲדֹנָֽי׃
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
חֶרְפָּה׀ שָֽׁבְרָה לִבִּי וָֽאָנוּשָׁה וָאֲקַוֶּה לָנוּד וָאַיִן וְלַמְנַחֲמִים וְלֹא מָצָֽאתִי׃
Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
רָאוּ עֲנָוִים יִשְׂמָחוּ דֹּרְשֵׁי אֱלֹהִים וִיחִי לְבַבְכֶֽם׃
The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
אַךְ טוֹב לְיִשְׂרָאֵל אֱלֹהִים לְבָרֵי לֵבָֽב׃
Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
יָצָא מֵחֵלֶב עֵינֵמוֹ עָבְרוּ מַשְׂכִּיּוֹת לֵבָֽב׃
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
אַךְ-רִיק זִכִּיתִי לְבָבִי וָאֶרְחַץ בְּנִקָּיוֹן כַּפָּֽי׃
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
