וּבָרוּךְ אֵל עֶלְיוֹן אֲשֶׁר-מִגֵּן צָרֶיךָ בְּיָדֶךָ וַיִּתֶּן-לוֹ מַֽעֲשֵׂר מִכֹּֽל׃
And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
וְכִֽי-תָבֹאוּ מִלְחָמָה בְּאַרְצְכֶם עַל-הַצַּר הַצֹּרֵר אֶתְכֶם וַהֲרֵֽעֹתֶם בַּחֲצֹֽצְרֹת וֲנִזְכַּרְתֶּם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם וְנֽוֹשַׁעְתֶּם מֵאֹֽיְבֵיכֶֽם׃
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
וַיּוֹסֶף מַלְאַךְ-יְהוָה עֲבוֹר וַֽיַּעֲמֹד בְּמָקוֹם צָר אֲשֶׁר אֵֽין-דֶּרֶךְ לִנְטוֹת יָמִין וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃
And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
אֵל מֽוֹצִיאוֹ מִמִּצְרַיִם כְּתֽוֹעֲפֹת רְאֵם לוֹ יֹאכַל גּוֹיִם צָרָיו וְעַצְמֹֽתֵיהֶם יְגָרֵם וְחִצָּיו יִמְחָֽץ׃
God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
בַּצַּר לְךָ וּמְצָאוּךָ כֹּל הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה בְּאַֽחֲרִית הַיָּמִים וְשַׁבְתָּ עַד-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ בְּקֹלֽוֹ׃
When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
לוּלֵי כַּעַס אוֹיֵב אָגוּר פֶּֽן-יְנַכְּרוּ צָרֵימוֹ פֶּן-יֹֽאמְרוּ יָדֵנוּ רָמָה וְלֹא יְהוָה פָּעַל כָּל-זֹֽאת׃
Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.
אִם-שַׁנּוֹתִי בְּרַק חַרְבִּי וְתֹאחֵז בְּמִשְׁפָּט יָדִי אָשִׁיב נָקָם לְצָרָי וְלִמְשַׂנְאַי אֲשַׁלֵּֽם׃
If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
הַרְנִינוּ גוֹיִם עַמּוֹ כִּי דַם-עֲבָדָיו יִקּוֹם וְנָקָם יָשִׁיב לְצָרָיו וְכִפֶּר אַדְמָתוֹ עַמּֽוֹ׃
Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
וְזֹאת לִֽיהוּדָה וַיֹּאמַר שְׁמַע יְהוָה קוֹל יְהוּדָה וְאֶל-עַמּוֹ תְּבִיאֶנּוּ יָדָיו רָב לוֹ וְעֵזֶר מִצָּרָיו תִּֽהְיֶֽה׃
And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.
וַיְהִי בִּֽהְיוֹת יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּֽירִיחוֹ וַיִּשָּׂא עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא וְהִנֵּה-אִישׁ עֹמֵד לְנֶגְדּוֹ וְחַרְבּוֹ שְׁלוּפָה בְּיָדוֹ וַיֵּלֶךְ יְהוֹשֻׁעַ אֵלָיו וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ הֲלָנוּ אַתָּה אִם-לְצָרֵֽינוּ׃
And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
וַיֹּאמֶר יִפְתָּח לְזִקְנֵי גִלְעָד הֲלֹא אַתֶּם שְׂנֵאתֶם אוֹתִי וַתְּגָֽרְשׁוּנִי מִבֵּית אָבִי וּמַדּוּעַ בָּאתֶם אֵלַי עַתָּה כַּֽאֲשֶׁר צַר לָכֶֽם׃
And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?
וְהִבַּטְתָּ צַר מָעוֹן בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יֵיטִיב אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹֽא-יִהְיֶה זָקֵן בְּבֵֽיתְךָ כָּל-הַיָּמִֽים׃
And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.
וְאִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל רָאוּ כִּי צַר-לוֹ כִּי נִגַּשׂ הָעָם וַיִּֽתְחַבְּאוּ הָעָם בַּמְּעָרוֹת וּבַֽחֲוָחִים וּבַסְּלָעִים וּבַצְּרִחִים וּבַבֹּרֽוֹת׃
When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
בַּצַּר-לִי אֶקְרָא יְהוָה וְאֶל-אֱלֹהַי אֶקְרָא וַיִּשְׁמַע מֵהֵֽיכָלוֹ קוֹלִי וְשַׁוְעָתִי בְּאָזְנָֽיו׃
In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
וַיָּֽבֹא-גָד אֶל-דָּוִד וַיַּגֶּד-לוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ הֲתָבוֹא לְךָ שֶֽׁבַע שָׁנִים׀ רָעָב׀ בְּאַרְצֶךָ אִם-שְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים נֻֽסְךָ לִפְנֵֽי-צָרֶיךָ וְהוּא רֹֽדְפֶךָ וְאִם-הֱיוֹת שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים דֶּבֶר בְּאַרְצֶךָ עַתָּה דַּע וּרְאֵה מָה-אָשִׁיב שֹֽׁלְחִי דָּבָֽר׃
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִד אֶל-גָּד צַר-לִי מְאֹד נִפְּלָה-נָּא בְיַד-יְהוָה כִּֽי-רַבִּים (רחמו) רַֽחֲמָיו וּבְיַד-אָדָם אַל-אֶפֹּֽלָה׃
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ בְנֵֽי-הַנְּבִיאִים אֶל-אֱלִישָׁע הִנֵּֽה-נָא הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר אֲנַחְנוּ יֹֽשְׁבִים שָׁם לְפָנֶיךָ צַר מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
וַיֵּצֵא דָוִיד לִפְנֵיהֶם וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם אִם-לְשָׁלוֹם בָּאתֶם אֵלַי לְעָזְרֵנִי יִֽהְיֶה-לִּי עֲלֵיכֶם לֵבָב לְיָחַד וְאִֽם-לְרַמּוֹתַנִי לְצָרַי בְּלֹא חָמָס בְּכַפַּי יֵרֶא אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ וְיוֹכַֽח׃
And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.
אִם-שָׁלוֹשׁ שָׁנִים רָעָב וְאִם-שְׁלֹשָׁה חֳדָשִׁים נִסְפֶּה מִפְּנֵי-צָרֶיךָ וְחֶרֶב אוֹיְבֶיךָ׀ לְמַשֶּׂגֶת וְאִם-שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים חֶרֶב יְהוָה וְדֶבֶר בָּאָרֶץ וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה מַשְׁחִית בְּכָל-גְּבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַתָּה רְאֵה מָֽה-אָשִׁיב אֶת-שֹֽׁלְחִי דָּבָֽר׃
Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד אֶל-גָּד צַר-לִי מְאֹד אֶפְּלָה-נָּא בְיַד-יְהוָה כִּֽי-רַבִּים רַֽחֲמָיו מְאֹד וּבְיַד-אָדָם אַל-אֶפֹּֽל׃
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
וַיָּשָׁב בַּצַּר-לוֹ עַל-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיְבַקְשֻׁהוּ וַיִּמָּצֵא לָהֶֽם׃
But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
וַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ צָרֵי יְהוּדָה וּבִנְיָמִן כִּֽי-בְנֵי הַגּוֹלָה בּוֹנִים הֵיכָל לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ צָרֵינוּ לֹא יֵֽדְעוּ וְלֹא יִרְאוּ עַד אֲשֶׁר-נָבוֹא אֶל-תּוֹכָם וַֽהֲרַגְנוּם וְהִשְׁבַּתְנוּ אֶת-הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃
And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
וַֽתִּתְּנֵם בְּיַד צָֽרֵיהֶם וַיָּצֵרוּ לָהֶם וּבְעֵת צָֽרָתָם יִצְעֲקוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְאַתָּה מִשָּׁמַיִם תִּשְׁמָע וּֽכְרַחֲמֶיךָ הָֽרַבִּים תִּתֵּן לָהֶם מֽוֹשִׁיעִים וְיֽוֹשִׁיעוּם מִיַּד צָֽרֵיהֶֽם׃
Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
כִּי נִמְכַּרְנוּ אֲנִי וְעַמִּי לְהַשְׁמִיד לַֽהֲרוֹג וּלְאַבֵּד וְאִלּוּ לַֽעֲבָדִים וְלִשְׁפָחוֹת נִמְכַּרְנוּ הֶֽחֱרַשְׁתִּי כִּי אֵין הַצָּר שׁוֶֹה בְּנֵזֶק הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.
וַתֹּאמֶר-אֶסְתֵּר אִישׁ צַר וְאוֹיֵב הָמָן הָרָע הַזֶּה וְהָמָן נִבְעַת מִלִּפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וְהַמַּלְכָּֽה׃
And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.
וּמַלְּטוּנִי מִיַּד-צָר וּמִיַּד עָֽרִיצִים תִּפְדּֽוּנִי׃
Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
גַּם-אֲנִי לֹא אֶחֱשָׂךְ פִּי אֲֽדַבְּרָה בְּצַר רוּחִי אָשִׂיחָה בְּמַר נַפְשִֽׁי׃
Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.
יְֽבַעֲתֻהוּ צַר וּמְצוּקָה תִּתְקְפֵהוּ כְּמֶלֶךְ׀ עָתִיד לַכִּידֽוֹר׃
Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
אַפּוֹ טָרַף׀ וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵנִי חָרַק עָלַי בְּשִׁנָּיו צָרִי׀ יִלְטֹשׁ עֵינָיו לִֽי׃
He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.
וַיַּחַר עָלַי אַפּוֹ וַיַּחְשְׁבֵנִי לוֹ כְצָרָֽיו׃
He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
וְאַף הֲסִיתְךָ׀ מִפִּי-צָר רַחַב לֹא-מוּצָק תַּחְתֶּיהָ וְנַחַת שֻׁלְחָנְךָ מָלֵא דָֽשֶׁן׃
Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness.
אֲשֶׁר-חָשַׂכְתִּי לְעֶת-צָר לְיוֹם קְרָב וּמִלְחָמָֽה׃
Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
גַּאֲוָה אֲפִיקֵי מָֽגִנִּים סָגוּר חוֹתָם צָֽר׃
His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
יְהוָה מָֽה-רַבּוּ צָרָי רַבִּים קָמִים עָלָֽי׃
LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
בְּקָרְאִי עֲנֵנִי׀ אֱלֹהֵי צִדְקִי בַּצָּר הִרְחַבְתָּ לִּי חָנֵּנִי וּשְׁמַע תְּפִלָּתִֽי׃
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
פֶּן-יֹאמַר אֹיְבִי יְכָלְתִּיו צָרַי יָגִילוּ כִּי אֶמּֽוֹט׃
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
בַּצַּר-לִי׀ אֶֽקְרָא יְהוָה וְאֶל-אֱלֹהַי אֲשַׁוֵּעַ יִשְׁמַע מֵהֵיכָלוֹ קוֹלִי וְשַׁוְעָתִי לְפָנָיו׀ תָּבוֹא בְאָזְנָֽיו׃

בִּקְרֹב עָלַי׀ מְרֵעִים לֶאֱכֹל אֶת-בְּשָׂרִי צָרַי וְאֹיְבַי לִי הֵמָּה כָשְׁלוּ וְנָפָֽלוּ׃
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
אַֽל-תִּתְּנֵנִי בְּנֶפֶשׁ צָרָי כִּי קָֽמוּ-בִי עֵֽדֵי-שֶׁקֶר וִיפֵחַ חָמָֽס׃
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
אַתָּה׀ סֵתֶר לִי מִצַּר תִּצְּרֵנִי רָנֵּי פַלֵּט תְּסוֹבְבֵנִי סֶֽלָה׃
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
בְּךָ צָרֵינוּ נְנַגֵּחַ בְּשִׁמְךָ נָבוּס קָמֵֽינוּ׃
Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
כִּי הוֹשַׁעְתָּנוּ מִצָּרֵינוּ וּמְשַׂנְאֵינוּ הֱבִישֽׁוֹתָ׃
But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
תְּשִׁיבֵנוּ אָחוֹר מִנִּי-צָר וּמְשַׂנְאֵינוּ שָׁסוּ לָֽמוֹ׃
Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
וַאֲנִי׀ אָשִׁיר עֻזֶּךָ וַאֲרַנֵּן לַבֹּקֶר חַסְדֶּךָ כִּֽי-הָיִיתָ מִשְׂגָּב לִי וּמָנוֹס בְּיוֹם צַר-לִֽי׃
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
הָֽבָה-לָּנוּ עֶזְרָת מִצָּר וְשָׁוְא תְּשׁוּעַת אָדָם׃
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
בֵּֽאלֹהִים נַעֲשֶׂה-חָיִל וְהוּא יָבוּס צָרֵֽינוּ׃
Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
אֲשֶׁר-פָּצוּ שְׂפָתָי וְדִבֶּר-פִּי בַּצַּר-לִֽי׃
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
עַד-מָתַי אֱלֹהִים יְחָרֶף צָר יְנָאֵץ אוֹיֵב שִׁמְךָ לָנֶֽצַח׃
O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
לֹא-זָכְרוּ אֶת-יָדוֹ יוֹם אֲֽשֶׁר-פָּדָם מִנִּי-צָֽר׃
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
וַיִּתֵּן לַשְּׁבִי עֻזּוֹ וְֽתִפְאַרְתּוֹ בְיַד-צָֽר׃
And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.
וַיַּךְ-צָרָיו אָחוֹר חֶרְפַּת עוֹלָם נָתַן לָֽמוֹ׃
And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
כִּמְעַט אוֹיְבֵיהֶם אַכְנִיעַ וְעַל צָרֵיהֶם אָשִׁיב יָדִֽי׃
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
וְכַתּוֹתִי מִפָּנָיו צָרָיו וּמְשַׂנְאָיו אֶגּֽוֹף׃
And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
הֲרִימוֹתָ יְמִין צָרָיו הִשְׂמַחְתָּ כָּל-אוֹיְבָֽיו׃
Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
אֵשׁ לְפָנָיו תֵּלֵךְ וּתְלַהֵט סָבִיב צָרָֽיו׃
A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
אַל-תַּסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ׀ מִמֶּנִּי בְּיוֹם צַר לִי הַטֵּֽה-אֵלַי אָזְנֶךָ בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָא מַהֵר עֲנֵֽנִי׃
Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
וַיֶּפֶר אֶת-עַמּוֹ מְאֹד וַיַּֽעֲצִמֵהוּ מִצָּרָֽיו׃
And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.
וַיְכַסּוּ-מַיִם צָרֵיהֶם אֶחָד מֵהֶם לֹא נוֹתָֽר׃
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
וַיַּרְא בַּצַּר לָהֶם בְּשָׁמְעוֹ אֶת-רִנָּתָֽם׃
Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
יֹאמְרוּ גְּאוּלֵי יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר גְּאָלָם מִיַּד-צָֽר׃
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
וַיִּצְעֲקוּ אֶל-יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצֽוּקוֹתֵיהֶם יַצִּילֵֽם׃
Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
וַיִּזְעֲקוּ אֶל-יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃
Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
וַיִּזְעֲקוּ אֶל-יְהוָה בַּצַּר לָהֶם מִמְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶם יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃

צִמְּתַתְנִי קִנְאָתִי כִּֽי-שָׁכְחוּ דְבָרֶיךָ צָרָֽי׃
My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.
צַר-וּמָצוֹק מְצָאוּנִי מִצְוֺתֶיךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃
Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights.
רַבִּים רֹדְפַי וְצָרָי מֵעֵדְוֺתֶיךָ לֹא נָטִֽיתִי׃
Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from thy testimonies.
וַיִּפְרְקֵנוּ מִצָּרֵינוּ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
כִּֽי-שׁוּחָה עֲמֻקָּה זוֹנָה וּבְאֵר צָרָה נָכְרִיָּֽה׃
For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.
הִתְרַפִּיתָ בְּיוֹם צָרָה צַר כֹּחֶֽכָה׃
If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
לָכֵן נְאֻם הָֽאָדוֹן יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֲבִיר יִשְׂרָאֵל הוֹי אֶנָּחֵם מִצָּרַי וְאִנָּקְמָה מֵאוֹיְבָֽי׃
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
אֲשֶׁר חִצָּיו שְׁנוּנִים וְכָל-קַשְּׁתֹתָיו דְּרֻכוֹת פַּרְסוֹת סוּסָיו כַּצַּר נֶחְשָׁבוּ וְגַלְגִּלָּיו כַּסּוּפָֽה׃
Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
וְיִנְהֹם עָלָיו בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא כְּנַהֲמַת-יָם וְנִבַּט לָאָרֶץ וְהִנֵּה-חֹשֶׁךְ צַר וָאוֹר חָשַׁךְ בַּעֲרִיפֶֽיהָ׃
And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
וַיְשַׂגֵּב יְהוָה אֶת-צָרֵי רְצִין עָלָיו וְאֶת-אֹיְבָיו יְסַכְסֵֽךְ׃
Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join together; his enemies
וְסָרָה קִנְאַת אֶפְרַיִם וְצֹרְרֵי יְהוּדָה יִכָּרֵתוּ אֶפְרַיִם לֹֽא-יְקַנֵּא אֶת-יְהוּדָה וִֽיהוּדָה לֹֽא-יָצֹר אֶת-אֶפְרָֽיִם׃
The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
כִּֽי-הָיִיתָ מָעוֹז לַדָּל מָעוֹז לָאֶבְיוֹן בַּצַּר-לוֹ מַחְסֶה מִזֶּרֶם צֵל מֵחֹרֶב כִּי רוּחַ עָרִיצִים כְּזֶרֶם קִֽיר׃
For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
יְהוָה רָמָה יָדְךָ בַּל-יֶחֱזָיוּן יֶחֱזוּ וְיֵבֹשׁוּ קִנְאַת-עָם אַף-אֵשׁ צָרֶיךָ תֹאכְלֵֽם׃
LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.
יְהוָה בַּצַּר פְּקָדוּךָ צָקוּן לַחַשׁ מוּסָרְךָ לָֽמוֹ׃
LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.
וְנָתַן לָכֶם אֲדֹנָי לֶחֶם צָר וּמַיִם לָחַץ וְלֹֽא-יִכָּנֵף עוֹד מוֹרֶיךָ וְהָיוּ עֵינֶיךָ רֹאוֹת אֶת-מוֹרֶֽיךָ׃
And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
עוֹד יֹאמְרוּ בְאָזְנַיִךְ בְּנֵי שִׁכֻּלָיִךְ צַר-לִי הַמָּקוֹם גְּשָׁה-לִּי וְאֵשֵֽׁבָה׃
The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
כְּעַל גְּמֻלוֹת כְּעַל יְשַׁלֵּם חֵמָה לְצָרָיו גְּמוּל לְאֹֽיְבָיו לָאִיִּים גְּמוּל יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃
According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
וְיִֽירְאוּ מִֽמַּעֲרָב אֶת-שֵׁם יְהוָה וּמִמִּזְרַח-שֶׁמֶשׁ אֶת-כְּבוֹדוֹ כִּֽי-יָבוֹא כַנָּהָר צָר רוּחַ יְהוָה נֹסְסָה בֽוֹ׃
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
בְּֽכָל-צָרָתָם׀ (לא) לוֹ צָר וּמַלְאַךְ פָּנָיו הֽוֹשִׁיעָם בְּאַהֲבָתוֹ וּבְחֶמְלָתוֹ הוּא גְאָלָם וַֽיְנַטְּלֵם וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵם כָּל-יְמֵי עוֹלָֽם׃
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
לַמִּצְעָר יָרְשׁוּ עַם-קָדְשֶׁךָ צָרֵינוּ בּוֹסְסוּ מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ׃
The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
כִּקְדֹחַ אֵשׁ הֲמָסִים מַיִם תִּבְעֶה-אֵשׁ לְהוֹדִיעַ שִׁמְךָ לְצָרֶיךָ מִפָּנֶיךָ גּוֹיִם יִרְגָּֽזוּ׃
As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
לָכֵן כָּל-אֹכְלַיִךְ יֵאָכֵלוּ וְכָל-צָרַיִךְ כֻּלָּם בַּשְּׁבִי יֵלֵכוּ וְהָיוּ שֹׁאסַיִךְ לִמְשִׁסָּה וְכָל-בֹּזְזַיִךְ אֶתֵּן לָבַֽז׃
Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.
וְֽהַיּוֹם הַהוּא לַאדֹנָי יְהוִה צְבָאוֹת יוֹם נְקָמָה לְהִנָּקֵם מִצָּרָיו וְאָכְלָה חֶרֶב וְשָׂבְעָה וְרָוְתָה מִדָּמָם כִּי זֶבַח לַאדֹנָי יְהוִה צְבָאוֹת בְּאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן אֶל-נְהַר-פְּרָֽת׃
For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: for the Lord GOD of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
כִּי מַעֲלֵה (הלחות) הַלּוּחִית בִּבְכִי יַֽעֲלֶה-בֶּכִי כִּי בְּמוֹרַד חוֹרֹנַיִם צָרֵי צַֽעֲקַת-שֶׁבֶר שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃
For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.
כָּל-מוֹצְאֵיהֶם אֲכָלוּם וְצָרֵיהֶם אָמְרוּ לֹא נֶאְשָׁם תַּחַת אֲשֶׁר חָטְאוּ לַֽיהוָה נְוֵה-צֶדֶק וּמִקְוֵה אֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶם יְהוָֽה׃
All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.
הָיוּ צָרֶיהָ לְרֹאשׁ אֹיְבֶיהָ שָׁלוּ כִּֽי-יְהוָה הוֹגָהּ עַל רֹב-פְּשָׁעֶיהָ עוֹלָלֶיהָ הָלְכוּ שְׁבִי לִפְנֵי-צָֽר׃
Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the LORD hath afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.
זָֽכְרָה יְרוּשָׁלִַם יְמֵי עָנְיָהּ וּמְרוּדֶיהָ כֹּל מַחֲמֻדֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ מִימֵי קֶדֶם בִּנְפֹל עַמָּהּ בְּיַד-צָר וְאֵין עוֹזֵר לָהּ רָאוּהָ צָרִים שָׂחֲקוּ עַל מִשְׁבַּתֶּֽהָ׃
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths.
יָדוֹ פָּרַשׂ צָר עַל כָּל-מַחֲמַדֶּיהָ כִּֽי-רָאֲתָה גוֹיִם בָּאוּ מִקְדָּשָׁהּ אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתָה לֹא-יָבֹאוּ בַקָּהָל לָֽךְ׃
The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
פֵּֽרְשָׂה צִיּוֹן בְּיָדֶיהָ אֵין מְנַחֵם לָהּ צִוָּה יְהוָה לְיַעֲקֹב סְבִיבָיו צָרָיו הָיְתָה יְרוּשָׁלִַם לְנִדָּה בֵּינֵיהֶֽם׃
Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.
דָּרַךְ קַשְׁתּוֹ כְּאוֹיֵב נִצָּב יְמִינוֹ כְּצָר וַֽיַּהֲרֹג כֹּל מַחֲמַדֵּי-עָיִן בְּאֹהֶל בַּת-צִיּוֹן שָׁפַךְ כָּאֵשׁ חֲמָתֽוֹ׃
He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.
עָשָׂה יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר זָמָם בִּצַּע אֶמְרָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה מִֽימֵי-קֶדֶם הָרַס וְלֹא חָמָל וַיְשַׂמַּח עָלַיִךְ אוֹיֵב הֵרִים קֶרֶן צָרָֽיִךְ׃
The LORD hath done that which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused thine enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thine adversaries.
לֹא הֶאֱמִינוּ מַלְכֵי-אֶרֶץ (וכל) כֹּל יֹשְׁבֵי תֵבֵל כִּי יָבֹא צַר וְאוֹיֵב בְּשַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.
