וְהַלְוִיִּם הוֹרִידוּ׀ אֶת-אֲרוֹן יְהוָה וְאֶת-הָֽאַרְגַּז אֲשֶׁר-אִתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ כְלֵֽי-זָהָב וַיָּשִׂמוּ אֶל-הָאֶבֶן הַגְּדוֹלָה וְאַנְשֵׁי בֵֽית-שֶׁמֶשׁ הֶֽעֱלוּ עֹלוֹת וַֽיִּזְבְּחוּ זְבָחִים בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא לַֽיהוָֽה׃
And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.
וַיִּקַּח שְׁמוּאֵל אֶבֶן אַחַת וַיָּשֶׂם בֵּֽין-הַמִּצְפָּה וּבֵין הַשֵּׁן וַיִּקְרָא אֶת-שְׁמָהּ אֶבֶן הָעָזֶר וַיֹּאמַר עַד-הֵנָּה עֲזָרָנוּ יְהוָֽה׃
Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.
וַיַּגִּידוּ לְשָׁאוּל לֵאמֹר הִנֵּה הָעָם חֹטִאים לַֽיהוָה לֶֽאֱכֹל עַל-הַדָּם וַיֹּאמֶר בְּגַדְתֶּם גֹּלּוּ-אֵלַי הַיּוֹם אֶבֶן גְּדוֹלָֽה׃
Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.
וַיִּקַּח מַקְלוֹ בְּיָדוֹ וַיִּבְחַר-לוֹ חֲמִשָּׁה חַלֻּקֵֽי-אֲבָנִים׀ מִן-הַנַּחַל וַיָּשֶׂם אֹתָם בִּכְלִי הָֽרֹעִים אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ וּבַיַּלְקוּט וְקַלְּעוֹ בְיָדוֹ וַיִּגַּשׁ אֶל-הַפְּלִשְׁתִּֽי׃
And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
וַיִּשְׁלַח דָּוִד אֶת-יָדוֹ אֶל-הַכֶּלִי וַיִּקַּח מִשָּׁם אֶבֶן וַיְקַלַּע וַיַּךְ אֶת-הַפְּלִשְׁתִּי אֶל-מִצְחוֹ וַתִּטְבַּע הָאֶבֶן בְּמִצְחוֹ וַיִּפֹּל עַל-פָּנָיו אָֽרְצָה׃
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
וַיֶּֽחֱזַק דָּוִד מִן-הַפְּלִשְׁתִּי בַּקֶּלַע וּבָאֶבֶן וַיַּךְ אֶת-הַפְּלִשְׁתִּי וַיְמִתֵהוּ וְחֶרֶב אֵין בְּיַד-דָּוִֽד׃
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
וְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּ תֵּרֵד מְאֹד וּבָאתָ אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר-נִסְתַּרְתָּ שָּׁם בְּיוֹם הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂה וְיָשַׁבְתָּ אֵצֶל הָאֶבֶן הָאָֽזֶל׃
And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
וַיְהִי בַבֹּקֶר בְּצֵאת הַיַּיִן מִנָּבָל וַתַּגֶּד-לוֹ אִשְׁתּוֹ אֶת-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וַיָּמָת לִבּוֹ בְּקִרְבּוֹ וְהוּא הָיָה לְאָֽבֶן׃
But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
וַיִּשְׁלַח חִירָם מֶֽלֶךְ-צֹר מַלְאָכִים אֶל-דָּוִד וַֽעֲצֵי אֲרָזִים וְחָֽרָשֵׁי עֵץ וְחָֽרָשֵׁי אֶבֶן קִיר וַיִּבְנוּ-בַיִת לְדָוִֽד׃
And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house.
וַיִּקַּח אֶת-עֲטֶֽרֶת-מַלְכָּם מֵעַל רֹאשׁוֹ וּמִשְׁקָלָהּ כִּכַּר זָהָב וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וַתְּהִי עַל-רֹאשׁ דָּוִד וּשְׁלַל הָעִיר הוֹצִיא הַרְבֵּה מְאֹֽד׃
And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.
וּֽבְגַלְּחוֹ אֶת-רֹאשׁוֹ וְֽהָיָה מִקֵּץ יָמִים׀ לַיָּמִים אֲשֶׁר יְגַלֵּחַ כִּֽי-כָבֵד עָלָיו וְגִלְּחוֹ וְשָׁקַל אֶת-שְׂעַר רֹאשׁוֹ מָאתַיִם שְׁקָלִים בְּאֶבֶן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year's end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it:) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king's weight.
וַיְסַקֵּל בָּֽאֲבָנִים אֶת-דָּוִד וְאֶת-כָּל-עַבְדֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִד וְכָל-הָעָם וְכָל-הַגִּבֹּרִים מִֽימִינוֹ וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֽוֹ׃
And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
וַיֵּלֶךְ דָּוִד וַֽאֲנָשָׁיו בַּדָּרֶךְ וְשִׁמְעִי הֹלֵךְ בְּצֵלַע הָהָר לְעֻמָּתוֹ הָלוֹךְ וַיְקַלֵּל וַיְסַקֵּל בָּֽאֲבָנִים לְעֻמָּתוֹ וְעִפַּר בֶּֽעָפָֽר׃
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
וַיִּקְחוּ אֶת-אַבְשָׁלוֹם וַיַּשְׁלִכוּ אֹתוֹ בַיַּעַר אֶל-הַפַּחַת הַגָּדוֹל וַיַּצִּבוּ עָלָיו גַּל-אֲבָנִים גָּדוֹל מְאֹד וְכָל-יִשְׂרָאֵל נָסוּ אִישׁ (לאהלו) לְאֹהָלָֽיו׃
And they took Absalom, and cast him into a great pit in the wood, and laid a very great heap of stones upon him: and all Israel fled every one to his tent.
הֵם עִם-הָאֶבֶן הַגְּדוֹלָה אֲשֶׁר בְּגִבְעוֹן וַֽעֲמָשָׂא בָּא לִפְנֵיהֶם וְיוֹאָב חָגוּר׀ מִדּוֹ לְבֻשׁוּ (ועלו) וְעָלָיו חֲגוֹר חֶרֶב מְצֻמֶּדֶת עַל-מָתְנָיו בְּתַעְרָהּ וְהוּא יָצָא וַתִּפֹּֽל׃
When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.
וַיִּזְבַּח אֲדֹֽנִיָּהוּ צֹאן וּבָקָר וּמְרִיא עִם אֶבֶן הַזֹּחֶלֶת אֲשֶׁר-אֵצֶל עֵין רֹגֵל וַיִּקְרָא אֶת-כָּל-אֶחָיו בְּנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ וּלְכָל-אַנְשֵׁי יְהוּדָה עַבְדֵי הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants:
וַיְצַו הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיַּסִּעוּ אֲבָנִים גְּדֹלוֹת אֲבָנִים יְקָרוֹת לְיַסֵּד הַבָּיִת אַבְנֵי גָזִֽית׃
And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.
וַֽיִּפְסְלוּ בֹּנֵי שְׁלֹמֹה וּבֹנֵי חִירוֹם וְהַגִּבְלִים וַיָּכִינוּ הָֽעֵצִים וְהָֽאֲבָנִים לִבְנוֹת הַבָּֽיִת׃
And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
וְהַבַּיִת בְּהִבָּנֹתוֹ אֶֽבֶן-שְׁלֵמָה מַסָּע נִבְנָה וּמַקָּבוֹת וְהַגַּרְזֶן כָּל-כְּלִי בַרְזֶל לֹֽא-נִשְׁמַע בַּבַּיִת בְּהִבָּֽנֹתֽוֹ׃
And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
וְאֶרֶז אֶל-הַבַּיִת פְּנִימָה מִקְלַעַת פְּקָעִים וּפְטוּרֵי צִצִּים הַכֹּל אֶרֶז אֵין אֶבֶן נִרְאָֽה׃
And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.
כָּל-אֵלֶּה אֲבָנִים יְקָרֹת כְּמִדּוֹת גָּזִית מְגֹֽרָרוֹת בַּמְּגֵרָה מִבַּיִת וּמִחוּץ וּמִמַּסָּד עַד-הַטְּפָחוֹת וּמִחוּץ עַד-הֶֽחָצֵר הַגְּדוֹלָֽה׃
All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court.
וּמְיֻסָּד אֲבָנִים יְקָרוֹת אֲבָנִים גְּדֹלוֹת אַבְנֵי עֶשֶׂר אַמּוֹת וְאַבְנֵי שְׁמֹנֶה אַמּֽוֹת׃
And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits.
וּמִלְמַעְלָה אֲבָנִים יְקָרוֹת כְּמִדּוֹת גָּזִית וָאָֽרֶז׃
And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars.
אֵין בָּֽאָרוֹן רַק שְׁנֵי לֻחוֹת הָֽאֲבָנִים אֲשֶׁר הִנִּחַ שָׁם מֹשֶׁה בְּחֹרֵב אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת יְהוָה עִם-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּצֵאתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
וַתָּבֹא יְרֽוּשָׁלְַמָה בְּחַיִל כָּבֵד מְאֹד גְּמַלִּים נֹֽשְׂאִים בְּשָׂמִים וְזָהָב רַב-מְאֹד וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וַתָּבֹא אֶל-שְׁלֹמֹה וַתְּדַבֵּר אֵלָיו אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר הָיָה עִם-לְבָבָֽהּ׃
And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
וַתִּתֵּן לַמֶּלֶךְ מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים׀ כִּכַּר זָהָב וּבְשָׂמִים הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה לֹא בָא כַבֹּשֶׂם הַהוּא עוֹד לָרֹב אֲשֶׁר-נָֽתְנָה מַֽלְכַּת-שְׁבָא לַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
וְגַם אֳנִי חִירָם אֲשֶׁר-נָשָׂא זָהָב מֵֽאוֹפִיר הֵבִיא מֵֽאֹפִיר עֲצֵי אַלְמֻגִּים הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָֽה׃
And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.
וַיִּתֵּן הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת-הַכֶּסֶף בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם כָּֽאֲבָנִים וְאֵת הָֽאֲרָזִים נָתַן כַּשִּׁקְמִים אֲשֶׁר-בַּשְּׁפֵלָה לָרֹֽב׃
And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the vale, for abundance.
וַיִּשְׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם אֶת-אֲדֹרָם אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַמַּס וַיִּרְגְּמוּ כָל-יִשְׂרָאֵל בּוֹ אֶבֶן וַיָּמֹת וְהַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם הִתְאַמֵּץ לַֽעֲלוֹת בַּמֶּרְכָּבָה לָנוּס יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
וְהַמֶּלֶךְ אָסָא הִשְׁמִיעַ אֶת-כָּל-יְהוּדָה אֵין נָקִי וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת-אַבְנֵי הָֽרָמָה וְאֶת-עֵצֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה בַּעְשָׁא וַיִּבֶן בָּם הַמֶּלֶךְ אָסָא אֶת-גֶּבַע בִּנְיָמִן וְאֶת-הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃
Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
וַיִּקַּח אֵֽלִיָּהוּ שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה אֲבָנִים כְּמִסְפַּר שִׁבְטֵי בְנֵֽי-יַעֲקֹב אֲשֶׁר הָיָה דְבַר-יְהוָה אֵלָיו לֵאמֹר יִשְׂרָאֵל יִֽהְיֶה שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name:
וַיִּבְנֶה אֶת-הָֽאֲבָנִים מִזְבֵּחַ בְּשֵׁם יְהוָה וַיַּעַשׂ תְּעָלָה כְּבֵית סָאתַיִם זֶרַע סָבִיב לַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.
וַתִּפֹּל אֵשׁ-יְהוָה וַתֹּאכַל אֶת-הָֽעֹלָה וְאֶת-הָֽעֵצִים וְאֶת-הָֽאֲבָנִים וְאֶת-הֶֽעָפָר וְאֶת-הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר-בַּתְּעָלָה לִחֵֽכָה׃
Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
וַיָּבֹאוּ שְׁנֵי הָֽאֲנָשִׁים בְּנֵֽי-בְלִיַּעַל וַיֵּֽשְׁבוּ נֶגְדּוֹ וַיְעִדֻהוּ אַנְשֵׁי הַבְּלִיַּעַל אֶת-נָבוֹת נֶגֶד הָעָם לֵאמֹר בֵּרַךְ נָבוֹת אֱלֹהִים וָמֶלֶךְ וַיֹּֽצִאֻהוּ מִחוּץ לָעִיר וַיִּסְקְלֻהוּ בָֽאֲבָנִים וַיָּמֹֽת׃
And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.
וְהִכִּיתֶם כָּל-עִיר מִבְצָר וְכָל-עִיר מִבְחוֹר וְכָל-עֵץ טוֹב תַּפִּילוּ וְכָל-מַעְיְנֵי-מַיִם תִּסְתֹּמוּ וְכֹל הַֽחֶלְקָה הַטּוֹבָה תַּכְאִבוּ בָּֽאֲבָנִֽים׃
And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.
וְהֶֽעָרִים יַֽהֲרֹסוּ וְכָל-חֶלְקָה טוֹבָה יַשְׁלִיכוּ אִישׁ-אַבְנוֹ וּמִלְאוּהָ וְכָל-מַעְיַן-מַיִם יִסְתֹּמוּ וְכָל-עֵֽץ-טוֹב יַפִּילוּ עַד-הִשְׁאִיר אֲבָנֶיהָ בַּקִּיר חֲרָשֶׂת וַיָּסֹבּוּ הַקַּלָּעִים וַיַּכּֽוּהָ׃
And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kir-haraseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.
וְלַגֹּֽדְרִים וּלְחֹֽצְבֵי הָאֶבֶן וְלִקְנוֹת עֵצִים וְאַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב לְחַזֵּק אֶת-בֶּדֶק בֵּית-יְהוָה וּלְכֹל אֲשֶׁר-יֵצֵא עַל-הַבַּיִת לְחָזְקָֽה׃
And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.
וַיְקַצֵּץ הַמֶּלֶךְ אָחָז אֶת-הַמִּסְגְּרוֹת הַמְּכֹנוֹת וַיָּסַר מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶם (ואת) אֶת-הַכִּיֹּר וְאֶת-הַיָּם הוֹרִד מֵעַל הַבָּקָר הַנְּחֹשֶׁת אֲשֶׁר תַּחְתֶּיהָ וַיִּתֵּן אֹתוֹ עַל מַרְצֶפֶת אֲבָנִֽים׃
And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.
וְנָֽתְנוּ אֶת-אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶם בָּאֵשׁ כִּי לֹא אֱלֹהִים הֵמָּה כִּי אִם-מַֽעֲשֵׂה יְדֵֽי-אָדָם עֵץ וָאֶבֶן וַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
לֶחָרָשִׁים וְלַבֹּנִים וְלַגֹּֽדְרִים וְלִקְנוֹת עֵצִים וְאַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב לְחַזֵּק אֶת-הַבָּֽיִת׃
Unto carpenters, and builders, and masons, and to buy timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
נֹשְׁקֵי קֶשֶׁת מַיְמִינִים וּמַשְׂמִאלִים בָּֽאֲבָנִים וּבַחִצִּים בַּקָּשֶׁת מֵֽאֲחֵי שָׁאוּל מִבִּנְיָמִֽן׃
They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.
וַיִּקַּח דָּוִיד אֶת-עֲטֶֽרֶת-מַלְכָּם מֵעַל רֹאשׁוֹ וַֽיִּמְצָאָהּ׀ מִשְׁקַל כִּכַּר-זָהָב וּבָהּ אֶבֶן יְקָרָה וַתְּהִי עַל-רֹאשׁ דָּוִיד וּשְׁלַל הָעִיר הוֹצִיא הַרְבֵּה מְאֹֽד׃
And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִיד לִכְנוֹס אֶת-הַגֵּרִים אֲשֶׁר בְּאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּֽעֲמֵד חֹֽצְבִים לַחְצוֹב אַבְנֵי גָזִית לִבְנוֹת בֵּית הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃
And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.
וְהִנֵּה בְעָנְיִי הֲכִינוֹתִי לְבֵית-יְהוָה זָהָב כִּכָּרִים מֵֽאָה-אֶלֶף וְכֶסֶף אֶלֶף אֲלָפִים כִּכָּרִים וְלַנְּחֹשֶׁת וְלַבַּרְזֶל אֵין מִשְׁקָל כִּי לָרֹב הָיָה וְעֵצִים וַֽאֲבָנִים הֲכִינוֹתִי וַֽעֲלֵיהֶם תּוֹסִֽיף׃
Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto.
וְעִמְּךָ לָרֹב עֹשֵׂי מְלָאכָה חֹֽצְבִים וְחָֽרָשֵׁי אֶבֶן וָעֵץ וְכָל-חָכָם בְּכָל-מְלָאכָֽה׃
Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.
וּֽכְכָל-כֹּחִי הֲכִינוֹתִי לְבֵית-אֱלֹהַי הַזָּהָב׀ לַזָּהָב וְהַכֶּסֶף לַכֶּסֶף וְהַנְּחֹשֶׁת לַנְּחֹשֶׁת הַבַּרְזֶל לַבַּרְזֶל וְהָֽעֵצִים לָֽעֵצִים אַבְנֵי-שֹׁהַם וּמִלּוּאִים אַבְנֵי-פוּךְ וְרִקְמָה וְכֹל אֶבֶן יְקָרָה וְאַבְנֵי-שַׁיִשׁ לָרֹֽב׃
Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
וְהַנִּמְצָא אִתּוֹ אֲבָנִים נָֽתְנוּ לְאוֹצַר בֵּית-יְהוָה עַל יַד-יְחִיאֵל הַגֵּֽרְשֻׁנִּֽי׃
And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
וַיִּתֵּן הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת-הַכֶּסֶף וְאֶת-הַזָּהָב בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם כָּֽאֲבָנִים וְאֵת הָֽאֲרָזִים נָתַן כַּשִּׁקְמִים אֲשֶׁר-בַּשְּׁפֵלָה לָרֹֽב׃
And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
בֶּן-אִשָּׁה מִן-בְּנוֹת דָּן וְאָבִיו אִישׁ-צֹרִי יוֹדֵעַ לַֽעֲשׂוֹת בַּזָּֽהָב-וּבַכֶּסֶף בַּנְּחֹשֶׁת בַּבַּרְזֶל בָּֽאֲבָנִים וּבָֽעֵצִים בָּֽאַרְגָּמָן בַּתְּכֵלֶת וּבַבּוּץ וּבַכַּרְמִיל וּלְפַתֵּחַ כָּל-פִּתּוּחַ וְלַחְשֹׁב כָּל-מַֽחֲשָׁבֶת אֲשֶׁר יִנָּֽתֶן-לוֹ עִם-חֲכָמֶיךָ וְֽחַכְמֵי אֲדֹנִי דָּוִיד אָבִֽיךָ׃
The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
וַיְצַף אֶת-הַבַּיִת אֶבֶן יְקָרָה לְתִפְאָרֶת וְהַזָּהָב זְהַב פַּרְוָֽיִם׃
And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim.
וּמַֽלְכַּת-שְׁבָא שָֽׁמְעָה אֶת-שֵׁמַע שְׁלֹמֹה וַתָּבוֹא לְנַסּוֹת אֶת-שְׁלֹמֹה בְחִידוֹת בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם בְּחַיִל כָּבֵד מְאֹד וּגְמַלִּים נֹֽשְׂאִים בְּשָׂמִים וְזָהָב לָרֹב וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וַתָּבוֹא אֶל-שְׁלֹמֹה וַתְּדַבֵּר עִמּוֹ אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר הָיָה עִם-לְבָבָֽהּ׃
And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
וַתִּתֵּן לַמֶּלֶךְ מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים׀ כִּכַּר זָהָב וּבְשָׂמִים לָרֹב מְאֹד וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וְלֹא הָיָה כַּבֹּשֶׂם הַהוּא אֲשֶׁר-נָֽתְנָה מַֽלְכַּת-שְׁבָא לַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.
וְגַם-עַבְדֵי (חירם) חוּרָם וְעַבְדֵי שְׁלֹמֹה אֲשֶׁר-הֵבִיאוּ זָהָב מֵֽאוֹפִיר הֵבִיאוּ עֲצֵי אַלְגּוּמִּים וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָֽה׃
And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.
וַיִּתֵּן הַמֶּלֶךְ אֶת-הַכֶּסֶף בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם כָּֽאֲבָנִים וְאֵת הָֽאֲרָזִים נָתַן כַּשִּׁקְמִים אֲשֶׁר-בַּשְּׁפֵלָה לָרֹֽב׃
And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.
וַיִּשְׁלַח הַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם אֶת-הֲדֹרָם אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַמַּס וַיִּרְגְּמוּ-בוֹ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶבֶן וַיָּמֹת וְהַמֶּלֶךְ רְחַבְעָם הִתְאַמֵּץ לַֽעֲלוֹת בַּמֶּרְכָּבָה לָנוּס יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
וְאָסָא הַמֶּלֶךְ לָקַח אֶת-כָּל-יְהוּדָה וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת-אַבְנֵי הָֽרָמָה וְאֶת-עֵצֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר בָּנָה בַּעְשָׁא וַיִּבֶן בָּהֶם אֶת-גֶּבַע וְאֶת-הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃
Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
וַיִּקְשְׁרוּ עָלָיו וַיִּרְגְּמֻהוּ אֶבֶן בְּמִצְוַת הַמֶּלֶךְ בַּֽחֲצַר בֵּית יְהוָֽה׃
And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.
וַיָּכֶן לָהֶם עֻזִּיָּהוּ לְכָל-הַצָּבָא מָֽגִנִּים וּרְמָחִים וְכוֹבָעִים וְשִׁרְיֹנוֹת וּקְשָׁתוֹת וּלְאַבְנֵי קְלָעִֽים׃
And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
וַיַּעַשׂ׀ בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַם חִשְּׁבֹנוֹת מַֽחֲשֶׁבֶת חוֹשֵׁב לִֽהְיוֹת עַל-הַמִּגְדָּלִים וְעַל-הַפִּנּוֹת לִירוֹא בַּֽחִצִּים וּבָֽאֲבָנִים גְּדֹלוֹת וַיֵּצֵא שְׁמוֹ עַד-לְמֵרָחוֹק כִּֽי-הִפְלִיא לְהֵֽעָזֵר עַד כִּֽי-חָזָֽק׃
And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
וַיְהִי לִֽיחִזְקִיָּהוּ עֹשֶׁר וְכָבוֹד הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד וְאֹֽצָרוֹת עָֽשָׂה-לוֹ לְכֶסֶף וּלְזָהָב וּלְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וְלִבְשָׂמִים וּלְמָגִנִּים וּלְכֹל כְּלֵי חֶמְדָּֽה׃
And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
וַֽיִּתְּנוּ לֶחָֽרָשִׁים וְלַבֹּנִים לִקְנוֹת אַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב וְעֵצִים לַֽמְחַבְּרוֹת וּלְקָרוֹת אֶת-הַבָּתִּים אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁחִיתוּ מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃
Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
וַיֹּאמֶר׀ לִפְנֵי אֶחָיו וְחֵיל שֹֽׁמְרוֹן וַיֹּאמֶר מָה הַיְּהוּדִים הָאֲמֵֽלָלִים עֹשִׂים הֲיַֽעַזְבוּ לָהֶם הֲיִזְבָּחוּ הַיְכַלּוּ בַיּוֹם הַיְחַיּוּ אֶת-הָֽאֲבָנִים מֵֽעֲרֵמוֹת הֶֽעָפָר וְהֵמָּה שְׂרוּפֽוֹת׃
And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
וְטֽוֹבִיָּה הָֽעַמֹּנִי אֶצְלוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר גַּם אֲשֶׁר-הֵם בּוֹנִים אִם-יַֽעֲלֶה שׁוּעָל וּפָרַץ חוֹמַת אַבְנֵיהֶֽם׃
Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.
וְהַיָּם בָּקַעְתָּ לִפְנֵיהֶם וַיַּֽעַבְרוּ בְתוֹךְ-הַיָּם בַּיַּבָּשָׁה וְֽאֶת-רֹדְפֵיהֶם הִשְׁלַכְתָּ בִמְצוֹלֹת כְּמוֹ-אֶבֶן בְּמַיִם עַזִּֽים׃
And thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into the deeps, as a stone into the mighty waters.
כִּי עִם-אַבְנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה בְרִיתֶךָ וְחַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה הָשְׁלְמָה-לָֽךְ׃
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
אִם-כֹּחַ אֲבָנִים כֹּחִי אִֽם-בְּשָׂרִי נָחֽוּשׁ׃
Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
עַל-גַּל שָֽׁרָשָׁיו יְסֻבָּכוּ בֵּית אֲבָנִים יֶחֱזֶֽה׃
His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
אֲבָנִים׀ שָׁחֲקוּ מַיִם תִּשְׁטֹֽף-סְפִיחֶיהָ עֲפַר-אָרֶץ וְתִקְוַת אֱנוֹשׁ הֶאֱבַֽדְתָּ׃
The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
בַּרְזֶל מֵעָפָר יֻקָּח וְאֶבֶן יָצוּק נְחוּשָֽׁה׃
Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
קֵץ׀ שָׂם לַחֹשֶׁךְ וּֽלְכָל-תַּכְלִית הוּא חוֹקֵר אֶבֶן אֹפֶל וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃
He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
מְקוֹם-סַפִּיר אֲבָנֶיהָ וְעַפְרֹת זָהָב לֽוֹ׃
The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
עַל-מָה אֲדָנֶיהָ הָטְבָּעוּ אוֹ מִֽי-יָרָה אֶבֶן פִּנָּתָֽהּ׃
Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
כָּאֶבֶן מַיִם יִתְחַבָּאוּ וּפְנֵי תְהוֹם יִתְלַכָּֽדוּ׃
The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.
לִבּוֹ יָצוּק כְּמוֹ-אָבֶן וְיָצוּק כְּפֶלַח תַּחְתִּֽית׃
His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
לֹֽא-יַבְרִיחֶנּוּ בֶן-קָשֶׁת לְקַשׁ נֶהְפְּכוּ-לוֹ אַבְנֵי-קָֽלַע׃
The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
עַל-כַּפַּיִם יִשָּׂאוּנְךָ פֶּן-תִּגֹּף בָּאֶבֶן רַגְלֶֽךָ׃
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
כִּֽי-רָצוּ עֲבָדֶיךָ אֶת-אֲבָנֶיהָ וְֽאֶת-עֲפָרָהּ יְחֹנֵֽנוּ׃
For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.
אֶבֶן מָאֲסוּ הַבּוֹנִים הָיְתָה לְרֹאשׁ פִּנָּֽה׃
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
מֹאזְנֵי מִרְמָה תּוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה וְאֶבֶן שְׁלֵמָה רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃
A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
פֶּלֶס׀ וּמֹאזְנֵי מִשְׁפָּט לַֽיהוָה מַעֲשֵׂהוּ כָּל-אַבְנֵי-כִֽיס׃
A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
אֶֽבֶן-חֵן הַשֹּׁחַד בְּעֵינֵי בְעָלָיו אֶֽל-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יִפְנֶה יַשְׂכִּֽיל׃
A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
אֶבֶן וָאֶבֶן אֵיפָה וְאֵיפָה תּוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה גַּם-שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃
Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.
תּוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה אֶבֶן וָאָבֶן וּמֹאזְנֵי מִרְמָה לֹא-טֽוֹב׃
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
וְהִנֵּה עָלָה כֻלּוֹ׀ קִמְּשֹׂנִים כָּסּוּ פָנָיו חֲרֻלִּים וְגֶדֶר אֲבָנָיו נֶהֱרָֽסָה׃
And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
כִּצְרוֹר אֶבֶן בְּמַרְגֵּמָה כֵּן-נוֹתֵן לִכְסִיל כָּבֽוֹד׃
As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
כֹּֽרֶה-שַּׁחַת בָּהּ יִפֹּל וְגוֹלֵֽל אֶבֶן אֵלָיו תָּשֽׁוּב׃
Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
כֹּֽבֶד-אֶבֶן וְנֵטֶל הַחוֹל וְכַעַס אֱוִיל כָּבֵד מִשְּׁנֵיהֶֽם׃
A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
עֵת לְהַשְׁלִיךְ אֲבָנִים וְעֵת כְּנוֹס אֲבָנִים עֵת לַחֲבוֹק וְעֵת לִרְחֹק מֵחַבֵּֽק׃
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather together; stones a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
מַסִּיעַ אֲבָנִים יֵעָצֵב בָּהֶם בּוֹקֵעַ עֵצִים יִסָּכֶן בָּֽם׃
Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.
וְהָיָה לְמִקְדָּשׁ וּלְאֶבֶן נֶגֶף וּלְצוּר מִכְשׁוֹל לִשְׁנֵי בָתֵּי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְפַח וּלְמוֹקֵשׁ לְיוֹשֵׁב יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
וְאַתָּה הָשְׁלַכְתָּ מִֽקִּבְרְךָ כְּנֵצֶר נִתְעָב לְבֻשׁ הֲרֻגִים מְטֹעֲנֵי חָרֶב יוֹרְדֵי אֶל-אַבְנֵי-בוֹר כְּפֶגֶר מוּבָֽס׃
But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
לָכֵן בְּזֹאת יְכֻפַּר עֲוֹֽן-יַעֲקֹב וְזֶה כָּל-פְּרִי הָסִר חַטָּאתוֹ בְּשׂוּמוֹ׀ כָּל-אַבְנֵי מִזְבֵּחַ כְּאַבְנֵי-גִר מְנֻפָּצוֹת לֹֽא-יָקֻמוּ אֲשֵׁרִים וְחַמָּנִֽים׃
By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנְנִי יִסַּד בְּצִיּוֹן אָבֶן אֶבֶן בֹּחַן פִּנַּת יִקְרַת מוּסָד מוּסָּד הַֽמַּאֲמִין לֹא יָחִֽישׁ׃
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I in Zion lay for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
וְהִשְׁמִיעַ יְהוָה אֶת-הוֹד קוֹלוֹ וְנַחַת זְרוֹעוֹ יַרְאֶה בְּזַעַף אַף וְלַהַב אֵשׁ אוֹכֵלָה נֶפֶץ וָזֶרֶם וְאֶבֶן בָּרָֽד׃
And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
וִירֵשׁוּהָ קָאַת וְקִפּוֹד וְיַנְשׁוֹף וְעֹרֵב יִשְׁכְּנוּ-בָהּ וְנָטָה עָלֶיהָ קַֽו-תֹהוּ וְאַבְנֵי-בֹֽהוּ׃
But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
וְנָתֹן אֶת-אֱלֹהֵיהֶם בָּאֵשׁ כִּי לֹא אֱלֹהִים הֵמָּה כִּי אִם-מַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵֽי-אָדָם עֵץ וָאֶבֶן וַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
עֲנִיָּה סֹעֲרָה לֹא נֻחָמָה הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מַרְבִּיץ בַּפּוּךְ אֲבָנַיִךְ וִיסַדְתִּיךְ בַּסַּפִּירִֽים׃
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
וְשַׂמְתִּי כַּֽדְכֹד שִׁמְשֹׁתַיִךְ וּשְׁעָרַיִךְ לְאַבְנֵי אֶקְדָּח וְכָל-גְּבוּלֵךְ לְאַבְנֵי-חֵֽפֶץ׃
And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
תַּחַת הַנְּחֹשֶׁת אָבִיא זָהָב וְתַחַת הַבַּרְזֶל אָבִיא כֶסֶף וְתַחַת הָֽעֵצִים נְחֹשֶׁת וְתַחַת הָאֲבָנִים בַּרְזֶל וְשַׂמְתִּי פְקֻדָּתֵךְ שָׁלוֹם וְנֹגְשַׂיִךְ צְדָקָֽה׃
For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
עִבְרוּ עִבְרוּ בַּשְּׁעָרִים פַּנּוּ דֶּרֶךְ הָעָם סֹלּוּ סֹלּוּ הַֽמְסִלָּה סַקְּלוּ מֵאֶבֶן הָרִימוּ נֵס עַל-הָעַמִּֽים׃
Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
