Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
הִנֵּה אַשְׁרֵי אֱנוֹשׁ יֽוֹכִחֶנּוּ אֱלוֹהַּ וּמוּסַר שַׁדַּי אַל-תִּמְאָֽס׃
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
διὰ τοῦτο ἐν ὑμῖν πολλοὶ ἀσθενεῖς καὶ ἄῤῥωστοι καὶ κοιμῶνται ἱκανοί
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
אַשְׁרֵי׀ הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר-תְּיַסְּרֶנּוּ יָּהּ וּֽמִתּוֹרָתְךָ תְלַמְּדֶֽנּוּ׃
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;
כִּֽי-אֶל-אֵל הֶאָמַר נָשָׂאתִי לֹא אֶחְבֹּֽל׃
Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם זֶה הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר לֽוֹא-שָׁמְעוּ בְּקוֹל יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו וְלֹא לָקְחוּ מוּסָר אָֽבְדָה הָֽאֱמוּנָה וְנִכְרְתָה מִפִּיהֶֽם׃
But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐσμεν καὶ ὁ κόσμος ὅλος ἐν τῷ πονηρῷ κεῖται
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
לֹא שָֽׁמְעָה בְּקוֹל לֹא לָקְחָה מוּסָר בַּֽיהוָה לֹא בָטָחָה אֶל-אֱלֹהֶיהָ לֹא קָרֵֽבָה׃
She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
Οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι ὅσα ὁ νόμος λέγει τοῖς ἐν τῷ νόμῳ λαλεῖ ἵνα πᾶν στόμα φραγῇ καὶ ὑπόδικος γένηται πᾶς ὁ κόσμος τῷ θεῷ·
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them before the who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all world may become guilty God.
יַחְשֹׂךְ נַפְשׁוֹ מִנִּי-שָׁחַת וְחַיָּתוֹ מֵעֲבֹר בַּשָּֽׁלַח׃
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
עַל מֶה תֻכּוּ עוֹד תּוֹסִיפוּ סָרָה כָּל-רֹאשׁ לָחֳלִי וְכָל-לֵבָב דַּוָּֽי׃
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
