For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
וַאֲנִי עָנִי וְכוֹאֵב יְשׁוּעָתְךָ אֱלֹהִים תְּשַׂגְּבֵֽנִי׃
But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
Κατὰ δὲ τὸ μεσονύκτιον Παῦλος καὶ Σιλᾶς προσευχόμενοι ὕμνουν τὸν θεόν ἐπηκροῶντο δὲ αὐτῶν οἱ δέσμιοι·
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
יִלְבְּשׁוּ שׂוֹטְנַי כְּלִמָּה וְיַעֲטוּ כַמְעִיל בָּשְׁתָּֽם׃
Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
αὐτοὶ δὲ ἐπλήσθησαν ἀνοίας καὶ διελάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους τί ἂν ποιήσειαν τῷ Ἰησοῦ
And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
