If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
ἡ δὲ ὄντως χήρα καὶ μεμονωμένη ἤλπικεν ἐπὶ τόν θεὸν καὶ προσμένει ταῖς δεήσεσιν καὶ ταῖς προσευχαῖς νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας
Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
εἴπερ δίκαιον παρὰ θεῷ ἀνταποδοῦναι τοῖς θλίβουσιν ὑμᾶς θλῖψιν
Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
καὶ αὐτὴ χήρα ὡς ἐτῶν ὀγδοήκοντα τεσσάρων ἣ οὐκ ἀφίστατο ἀπὸ τοῦ ἱεροῦ νηστείαις καὶ δεήσεσιν λατρεύουσα νύκτα καὶ ἡμέραν
And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
καὶ ἔκραζον φωνῇ μεγάλῃ λέγοντες Ἕως πότε ὁ δεσπότης ὁ ἅγιος καὶ ὁ ἀληθινός οὐ κρίνεις καὶ ἐκδικεῖς τὸ αἷμα ἡμῶν ἀπὸ τῶν κατοικούντων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς;
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou judge not and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
כִּי עוֹד חָזוֹן לַמּוֹעֵד וְיָפֵחַ לַקֵּץ וְלֹא יְכַזֵּב אִם-יִתְמַהְמָהּ חַכֵּה-לוֹ כִּֽי-בֹא יָבֹא לֹא יְאַחֵֽר׃
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יְשׁוּעָתִי יוֹם-צָעַקְתִּי בַלַּיְלָה נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃
O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:
τίς ἐγκαλέσει κατὰ ἐκλεκτῶν θεοῦ θεὸς ὁ δικαιῶν·
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
וַיֹּאמֶר דָּוִד חַי-יְהוָה כִּי אִם-יְהוָה יִגָּפֶנּוּ אֽוֹ-יוֹמוֹ יָבוֹא וָמֵת אוֹ בַמִּלְחָמָה יֵרֵד וְנִסְפָּֽה׃
David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
אֱלֹהִים בְּשִׁמְךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי וּבִגְבוּרָתְךָ תְדִינֵֽנִי׃
Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
Εὐφραίνου ἐπ' αὐτήν οὐρανέ καὶ οἱ ἅγιοι ἀπόστολοι καὶ οἱ προφῆται ὅτι ἔκρινεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ κρίμα ὑμῶν ἐξ αὐτῆς
Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
יִשְׁפֹּט יְהוָה בֵּינִי וּבֵינֶךָ וּנְקָמַנִי יְהוָה מִמֶּךָּ וְיָדִי לֹא תִֽהְיֶה-בָּֽךְ׃
The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας ὑπὲρ ἐκπερισσοῦ δεόμενοι εἰς τὸ ἰδεῖν ὑμῶν τὸ πρόσωπον καὶ καταρτίσαι τὰ ὑστερήματα τῆς πίστεως ὑμῶν
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
שְׁבֹר זְרוֹעַ רָשָׁע וָרָע תִּֽדְרוֹשׁ-רִשְׁעוֹ בַל-תִּמְצָֽא׃
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
Ἐνδύσασθε οὖν ὡς ἐκλεκτοὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ἅγιοι καὶ ἠγαπημένοι σπλάγχνα οἰκτιρμῶν χρηστότητα ταπεινοφροσύνην πρᾳότητα μακροθυμίαν
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
