And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
וַיִּקְרָא שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל-יְהוָה וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה קֹלֹת וּמָטָר בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וַיִּירָא כָל-הָעָם מְאֹד אֶת-יְהוָה וְאֶת-שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃
So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
אֵל נַעֲרָץ בְּסוֹד-קְדֹשִׁים רַבָּה וְנוֹרָא עַל-כָּל-סְבִיבָֽיו׃
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם עִבְרִי אָנֹכִי וְאֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם אֲנִי יָרֵא אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה אֶת-הַיָּם וְאֶת-הַיַּבָּשָֽׁה׃
And he said unto them, I am an Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, which hath made the sea and the dry land.
οἱ δὲ ἄνθρωποι ἐθαύμασαν λέγοντες Ποταπός ἐστιν οὗτος ὅτι καὶ οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ ἡ θάλασσα ὑπακούουσιν αὐτῷ
But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
אַךְ׀ יְראוּ אֶת-יְהוָה וַֽעֲבַדְתֶּם אֹתוֹ בֶּֽאֱמֶת בְּכָל-לְבַבְכֶם כִּי רְאוּ אֵת אֲשֶׁר-הִגְדִּל עִמָּכֶֽם׃
Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.
וַיִּשְׂאוּ אֶת-יוֹנָה וַיְטִלֻהוּ אֶל-הַיָּם וַיַּעֲמֹד הַיָּם מִזַּעְפּֽוֹ׃
So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
καὶ ἐμβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος
And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
ἡ δὲ γυνὴ φοβηθεῖσα καὶ τρέμουσα εἰδυῖα ὃ γέγονεν ἐπ' αὐτῇ ἦλθεν καὶ προσέπεσεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀλήθειαν
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
τίς οὐ μὴ φοβηθῇ σε κύριε καὶ δοξάσῃ τὸ ὄνομά σου ὅτι μόνος ὅσιος ὅτι πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἥξουσιν καὶ προσκυνήσουσιν ἐνώπιόν σου ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματά σου ἐφανερώθησαν
Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
καὶ ἐγένετο θάμβος ἐπὶ πάντας καὶ συνελάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους λέγοντες Τίς ὁ λόγος οὗτος ὅτι ἐν ἐξουσίᾳ καὶ δυνάμει ἐπιτάσσει τοῖς ἀκαθάρτοις πνεύμασιν καὶ ἐξέρχονται
And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
בְּרִיתִי׀ הָיְתָה אִתּוֹ הַֽחַיִּים וְהַשָּׁלוֹם וָאֶתְּנֵֽם-לוֹ מוֹרָא וַיִּֽירָאֵנִי וּמִפְּנֵי שְׁמִי נִחַת הֽוּא׃
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
Διὸ βασιλείαν ἀσάλευτον παραλαμβάνοντες ἔχωμεν χάριν δι' ἧς λατρεύωμεν εὐαρέστως τῷ θεῷ μετὰ αἰδοῦς καὶ εὐλαβείας
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
καὶ ὑπερπερισσῶς ἐξεπλήσσοντο λέγοντες Καλῶς πάντα πεποίηκεν καὶ τοὺς κωφοὺς ποιεῖ ἀκούειν καὶ τοὺς ἀλάλους λαλεῖν
And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
