And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
הַמּוֹלִיכֲךָ בַּמִּדְבָּר׀ הַגָּדֹל וְהַנּוֹרָא נָחָשׁ׀ שָׂרָף וְעַקְרָב וְצִמָּאוֹן אֲשֶׁר אֵֽין-מָיִם הַמּוֹצִיא לְךָ מַיִם מִצּוּר הַֽחַלָּמִֽישׁ׃
Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
כִּי אִם-מָאֵן אַתָּה לְשַׁלֵּחַ אֶת-עַמִּי הִנְנִי מֵבִיא מָחָר אַרְבֶּה בִּגְבֻלֶֽךָ׃
Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:
וּמִדְיָן וַֽעֲמָלֵק וְכָל-בְּנֵי-קֶדֶם נֹֽפְלִים בָּעֵמֶק כָּֽאַרְבֶּה לָרֹב וְלִגְמַלֵּיהֶם אֵין מִסְפָּר כַּחוֹל שֶֽׁעַל-שְׂפַת הַיָּם לָרֹֽב׃
And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
καὶ ἔχουσιν οὐρὰς ὁμοίας σκορπίοις καὶ κέντρα ἦν ἐν ταῖς οὐραῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἡ ἐξουσία αὐτῶν ἀδικῆσαι τοὺς ἀνθρώπους μῆνας πέντε
And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
ἰδού δίδωμι ὑμῖν τὴν ἐξουσίαν τοῦ πατεῖν ἐπάνω ὄφεων καὶ σκορπίων καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν δύναμιν τοῦ ἐχθροῦ καὶ οὐδὲν ὑμᾶς οὐ μὴ ἀδικήσῃ
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
שָׁם תֹּאכְלֵךְ אֵשׁ תַּכְרִיתֵךְ חֶרֶב תֹּאכְלֵךְ כַּיָּלֶק הִתְכַּבֵּד כַּיֶּלֶק הִֽתְכַּבְּדִי כָּאַרְבֶּֽה׃
There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
מִנְּזָרַיִךְ כָּֽאַרְבֶּה וְטַפְסְרַיִךְ כְּגוֹב גֹּבָי הַֽחוֹנִים בַּגְּדֵרוֹת בְּיוֹם קָרָה שֶׁמֶשׁ זָֽרְחָה וְנוֹדַד וְלֹֽא-נוֹדַע מְקוֹמוֹ אַיָּֽם׃
Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
וְאַתָּה בֶן-אָדָם אַל-תִּירָא מֵהֶם וּמִדִּבְרֵיהֶם אַל-תִּירָא כִּי סָרָבִים וְסַלּוֹנִים אוֹתָךְ וְאֶל-עַקְרַבִּים אַתָּה יוֹשֵׁב מִדִּבְרֵיהֶם אַל-תִּירָא וּמִפְּנֵיהֶם אַל-תֵּחָת כִּי בֵּית מְרִי הֵֽמָּה׃
And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
וְאֻסַּף שְׁלַלְכֶם אֹסֶף הֶֽחָסִיל כְּמַשַּׁק גֵּבִים שֹׁקֵק בּֽוֹ׃
And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
