φοβοῦμαι γὰρ μήπως ἐλθὼν οὐχ οἵους θέλω εὕρω ὑμᾶς κἀγὼ εὑρεθῶ ὑμῖν οἷον οὐ θέλετε· μήπως ἔρεις ζῆλοι θυμοί ἐριθείαι καταλαλιαί ψιθυρισμοί φυσιώσεις ἀκαταστασίαι·
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and I that shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
אִישׁ תַּהְפֻּכוֹת יְשַׁלַּח מָדוֹן וְנִרְגָּן מַפְרִיד אַלּֽוּף׃
A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
יַחַד עָלַי יִתְלַחֲשׁוּ כָּל-שֹׂנְאָי עָלַי׀ יַחְשְׁבוּ רָעָה לִֽי׃
All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.
בְּאֶפֶס עֵצִים תִּכְבֶּה-אֵשׁ וּבְאֵין נִרְגָּן יִשְׁתֹּק מָדֽוֹן׃
Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
καθὼς γέγραπται ὅτι Οὐκ ἔστιν δίκαιος οὐδὲ εἷς
