Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
πρεσβύτας νηφαλίους εἶναι σεμνούς σώφρονας ὑγιαίνοντας τῇ πίστει τῇ ἀγάπῃ τῇ ὑπομονῇ·
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Ταῦτα λάλει καὶ παρακάλει καὶ ἔλεγχε μετὰ πάσης ἐπιταγῆς· μηδείς σου περιφρονείτω
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
κήρυξον τὸν λόγον ἐπίστηθι εὐκαίρως ἀκαίρως ἔλεγξον ἐπιτίμησον παρακάλεσον ἐν πάσῃ μακροθυμίᾳ καὶ διδαχῇ
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
διὰ τοῦτο ταῦτα ἀπὼν γράφω ἵνα παρὼν μὴ ἀποτόμως χρήσωμαι κατὰ τὴν ἐξουσίαν ἣν ἔδωκέν μοι ὁ κύριος εἰς οἰκοδομὴν καὶ οὐκ εἰς καθαίρεσιν
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
Ταῦτα ὑποτιθέμενος τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καλὸς ἔσῃ διάκονος Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐντρεφόμενος τοῖς λόγοις τῆς πίστεως καὶ τῆς καλῆς διδασκαλίας ᾗ παρηκολούθηκας·
If thou put in remembrance of the brethren these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
ὅτι εἰ καὶ ἐλύπησα ὑμᾶς ἐν τῇ ἐπιστολῇ οὐ μεταμέλομαι· εἰ καὶ μετεμελόμην βλέπω γὰρ ὅτι ἡ ἐπιστολὴ ἐκείνη εἰ καὶ πρὸς ὥραν ἐλύπησεν ὑμᾶς
For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
יֶהֶלְמֵֽנִי צַדִּיק׀ חֶסֶד וְֽיוֹכִיחֵנִי שֶׁמֶן רֹאשׁ אַל-יָנִי רֹאשִׁי כִּי-עוֹד וּתְפִלָּתִי בְּרָעוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
יְהִֽי-לִבִּי תָמִים בְּחֻקֶּיךָ לְמַעַן לֹא אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃
Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.
לֹֽא-תִשְׂנָא אֶת-אָחִיךָ בִּלְבָבֶךָ הוֹכֵחַ תּוֹכִיחַ אֶת-עֲמִיתֶךָ וְלֹֽא-תִשָּׂא עָלָיו חֵֽטְא׃
Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
