יְנַקֵּשׁ נוֹשֶׁה לְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-לוֹ וְיָבֹזּוּ זָרִים יְגִיעֽוֹ׃
Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
גֵּר אָנֹכִי בָאָרֶץ אַל-תַּסְתֵּר מִמֶּנִּי מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
יְהוָה׀ שֹׁמֵר אֶת-גֵּרִים יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה יְעוֹדֵד וְדֶרֶךְ רְשָׁעִים יְעַוֵּֽת׃
The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
לְהַצִּילְךָ מֵאִשָּׁה זָרָה מִנָּכְרִיָּה אֲמָרֶיהָ הֶחֱלִֽיקָה׃
To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
כִּי נֹפֶת תִּטֹּפְנָה שִׂפְתֵי זָרָה וְחָלָק מִשֶּׁמֶן חִכָּֽהּ׃
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
פֶּֽן-יִשְׂבְּעוּ זָרִים כֹּחֶךָ וַעֲצָבֶיךָ בְּבֵית נָכְרִֽי׃
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
יִֽהְיוּ-לְךָ לְבַדֶּךָ וְאֵין לְזָרִים אִתָּֽךְ׃
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
וְלָמָּה תִשְׁגֶּה בְנִי בְזָרָה וּתְחַבֵּק חֵק נָכְרִיָּֽה׃
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
בְּנִי אִם-עָרַבְתָּ לְרֵעֶךָ תָּקַעְתָּ לַזָּר כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
לִשְׁמָרְךָ מֵאִשָּׁה זָרָה מִנָּכְרִיָּה אֲמָרֶיהָ הֶחֱלִֽיקָה׃
That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
רַע-יֵרוֹעַ כִּי-עָרַב זָר וְשֹׂנֵא תֹקְעִים בּוֹטֵֽחַ׃
He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
לֵב יוֹדֵעַ מָרַּת נַפְשׁוֹ וּבְשִׂמְחָתוֹ לֹא-יִתְעָרַב זָֽר׃
The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
לְֽקַח-בִּגְדוֹ כִּי-עָרַב זָר וּבְעַד (נכרים) נָכְרִיָּה חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
שׁוּחָה עֲמֻקָּה פִּי זָרוֹת זְעוּם יְהוָה (יפול) יִפָּל-שָֽׁם׃
The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
עֵינֶיךָ יִרְאוּ זָרוֹת וְלִבְּךָ יְדַבֵּר תַּהְפֻּכֽוֹת׃
Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
יְהַלֶּלְךָ זָר וְלֹא-פִיךָ נָכְרִי וְאַל-שְׂפָתֶֽיךָ׃
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
קַח-בִּגְדוֹ כִּי-עָרַב זָר וּבְעַד נָכְרִיָּה חַבְלֵֽהוּ׃
Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
הוֹי׀ גּוֹי חֹטֵא עַם כֶּבֶד עָוֹן זֶרַע מְרֵעִים בָּנִים מַשְׁחִיתִים עָזְבוּ אֶת-יְהוָה נִֽאֲצוּ אֶת-קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל נָזֹרוּ אָחֽוֹר׃
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
אַרְצְכֶם שְׁמָמָה עָרֵיכֶם שְׂרֻפוֹת אֵשׁ אַדְמַתְכֶם לְנֶגְדְּכֶם זָרִים אֹכְלִים אֹתָהּ וּשְׁמָמָה כְּמַהְפֵּכַת זָרִֽים׃
Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
כִּי יְרַחֵם יְהוָה אֶֽת-יַעֲקֹב וּבָחַר עוֹד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וְהִנִּיחָם עַל-אַדְמָתָם וְנִלְוָה הַגֵּר עֲלֵיהֶם וְנִסְפְּחוּ עַל-בֵּית יַעֲקֹֽב׃
For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
כִּי שָׁכַחַתְּ אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵךְ וְצוּר מָעֻזֵּךְ לֹא זָכָרְתְּ עַל-כֵּן תִּטְּעִי נִטְעֵי נַעֲמָנִים וּזְמֹרַת זָר תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃
Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
כִּי שַׂמְתָּ מֵעִיר לַגָּל קִרְיָה בְצוּרָה לְמַפֵּלָה אַרְמוֹן זָרִים מֵעִיר לְעוֹלָם לֹא יִבָּנֶֽה׃
For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.
כְּחֹרֶב בְּצָיוֹן שְׁאוֹן זָרִים תַּכְנִיעַ חֹרֶב בְּצֵל עָב זְמִיר עָֽרִיצִים יַעֲנֶֽה׃
Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
כִּי כְהַר-פְּרָצִים יָקוּם יְהוָה כְּעֵמֶק בְּגִבְעוֹן יִרְגָּז לַעֲשׂוֹת מַעֲשֵׂהוּ זָר מַעֲשֵׂהוּ וְלַֽעֲבֹד עֲבֹדָתוֹ נָכְרִיָּה עֲבֹדָתֽוֹ׃
For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
וְהָיָה כְּאָבָק דַּק הֲמוֹן זָרָיִךְ וּכְמֹץ עֹבֵר הֲמוֹן עָֽרִיצִים וְהָיָה לְפֶתַע פִּתְאֹֽם׃
Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones shall be as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
אָנֹכִי הִגַּדְתִּי וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּי וְהִשְׁמַעְתִּי וְאֵין בָּכֶם זָר וְאַתֶּם עֵדַי נְאֻם-יְהוָה וַֽאֲנִי-אֵֽל׃
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.
וְעָמְדוּ זָרִים וְרָעוּ צֹאנְכֶם וּבְנֵי נֵכָר אִכָּרֵיכֶם וְכֹרְמֵיכֶֽם׃
And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
מִנְעִי רַגְלֵךְ מִיָּחֵף (וגורנך) וּגְרוֹנֵךְ מִצִּמְאָה וַתֹּאמְרִי נוֹאָשׁ לוֹא כִּֽי-אָהַבְתִּי זָרִים וְאַחֲרֵיהֶם אֵלֵֽךְ׃
Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
אַךְ דְּעִי עֲוֹנֵךְ כִּי בַּיהוָה אֱלֹהַיִךְ פָּשָׁעַתְּ וַתְּפַזְּרִי אֶת-דְּרָכַיִךְ לַזָּרִים תַּחַת כָּל-עֵץ רַעֲנָן וּבְקוֹלִי לֹא-שְׁמַעְתֶּם נְאֻם-יְהוָֹֽה׃
Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.
וְהָיָה כִּי תֹאמְרוּ תַּחַת מֶה עָשָׂה יְהוָֹה אֱלֹהֵינוּ לָנוּ אֶת-כָּל-אֵלֶּה וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר עֲזַבְתֶּם אוֹתִי וַתַּעַבְדוּ אֱלֹהֵי נֵכָר בְּאַרְצְכֶם כֵּן תַּעַבְדוּ זָרִים בְּאֶרֶץ לֹא לָכֶֽם׃
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
גֵּר יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה לֹא תַֽעֲשֹׁקוּ וְדָם נָקִי אַֽל-תִּשְׁפְּכוּ בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וְאַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לֹא תֵלְכוּ לְרַע לָכֶֽם׃
If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods hurt: to your
מִקְוֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל מֽוֹשִׁיעוֹ בְּעֵת צָרָה לָמָּה תִֽהְיֶה כְּגֵר בָּאָרֶץ וּכְאֹרֵחַ נָטָה לָלֽוּן׃
O the hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry night? for a
הֲיַעֲזֹב מִצּוּר שָׂדַי שֶׁלֶג לְבָנוֹן אִם-יִנָּתְשׁוּ מַיִם זָרִים קָרִים נוֹזְלִֽים׃
Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
כֹּה׀ אָמַר יְהוָה עֲשׂוּ מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה וְהַצִּילוּ גָזוּל מִיַּד עָשׁוֹק וְגֵר יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה אַל-תֹּנוּ אַל-תַּחְמֹסוּ וְדָם נָקִי אַֽל-תִּשְׁפְּכוּ בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.
וְהָיָה בַיּוֹם הַהוּא נְאֻם׀ יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֶשְׁבֹּר עֻלּוֹ מֵעַל צַוָּארֶךָ וּמוֹסְרוֹתֶיךָ אֲנַתֵּק וְלֹא-יַעַבְדוּ-בוֹ עוֹד זָרִֽים׃
For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי לְבָבֶל׀ זָרִים וְזֵרוּהָ וִיבֹקְקוּ אֶת-אַרְצָהּ כִּֽי-הָיוּ עָלֶיהָ מִסָּבִיב בְּיוֹם רָעָֽה׃
And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.
בֹּשְׁנוּ כִּֽי-שָׁמַעְנוּ חֶרְפָּה כִּסְּתָה כְלִמָּה פָּנֵינוּ כִּי בָּאוּ זָרִים עַֽל-מִקְדְּשֵׁי בֵּית יְהוָֽה׃
We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.
נַחֲלָתֵנוּ נֶֽהֶפְכָה לְזָרִים בָּתֵּינוּ לְנָכְרִֽים׃
Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
וּנְתַתִּיו בְּיַֽד-הַזָּרִים לָבַז וּלְרִשְׁעֵי הָאָרֶץ לְשָׁלָל (וחללה) וְחִלְּלֽוּהוּ׃
And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.
וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מִתּוֹכָהּ וְנָתַתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּיַד-זָרִים וְעָשִׂיתִי בָכֶם שְׁפָטִֽים׃
And I will bring out you of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
לְמַעַן תְּפֹשׂ אֶת-בֵּֽית-יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּלִבָּם אֲשֶׁר נָזֹרוּ מֵֽעָלַי בְּגִלּֽוּלֵיהֶם כֻּלָּֽם׃
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
כִּי אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמֵהַגֵּר אֲשֶׁר-יָגוּר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִנָּזֵר מֵֽאַחֲרַי וְיַעַל גִּלּוּלָיו אֶל-לִבּוֹ וּמִכְשׁוֹל עֲוֹנוֹ יָשִׂים נֹכַח פָּנָיו וּבָא אֶל-הַנָּבִיא לִדְרָשׁ-לוֹ בִי אֲנִי יְהוָה נַֽעֲנֶה-לּוֹ בִּֽי׃
For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
הָאִשָּׁה הַמְּנָאָפֶת תַּחַת אִישָׁהּ תִּקַּח אֶת-זָרִֽים׃
But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband!
אָב וָאֵם הֵקַלּוּ בָךְ לַגֵּר עָשׂוּ בַעֹשֶׁק בְּתוֹכֵךְ יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה הוֹנוּ בָֽךְ׃
In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.
עַם הָאָרֶץ עָשְׁקוּ עֹשֶׁק וְגָזְלוּ גָּזֵל וְעָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן הוֹנוּ וְאֶת-הַגֵּר עָשְׁקוּ בְּלֹא מִשְׁפָּֽט׃
The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
לָכֵן הִנְנִי מֵבִיא עָלֶיךָ זָרִים עָרִיצֵי גּוֹיִם וְהֵרִיקוּ חַרְבוֹתָם עַל-יְפִי חָכְמָתֶךָ וְחִלְּלוּ יִפְעָתֶֽךָ׃
Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.
מוֹתֵי עֲרֵלִים תָּמוּת בְּיַד-זָרִים כִּי אֲנִי דִבַּרְתִּי נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִֽה׃
Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
וְנָתַתִּי יְאֹרִים חָֽרָבָה וּמָכַרְתִּי אֶת-הָאָרֶץ בְּיַד-רָעִים וַהֲשִׁמֹּתִי אֶרֶץ וּמְלֹאָהּ בְּיַד-זָרִים אֲנִי יְהוָה דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.
וַיִּכְרְתֻהוּ זָרִים עָרִיצֵי גוֹיִם וַֽיִּטְּשֻׁהוּ אֶל-הֶהָרִים וּבְכָל-גֵּאָיוֹת נָפְלוּ דָלִיּוֹתָיו וַתִּשָּׁבַרְנָה פֹֽרֹאתָיו בְּכֹל אֲפִיקֵי הָאָרֶץ וַיֵּרְדוּ מִצִּלּוֹ כָּל-עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ וַֽיִּטְּשֻֽׁהוּ׃
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
וְהָיָה תַּפִּלוּ אוֹתָהּ בְּנַחֲלָה לָכֶם וּלְהַגֵּרִים הַגָּרִים בְּתוֹכְכֶם אֲשֶׁר-הוֹלִדוּ בָנִים בְּתֽוֹכְכֶם וְהָיוּ לָכֶם כְּאֶזְרָח בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אִתְּכֶם יִפְּלוּ בְנַחֲלָה בְּתוֹךְ שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
And it shall come to pass, that ye shall divide it by lot for an inheritance unto you, and to the strangers that sojourn among you, which shall beget children among you: and they shall be unto you as born in the country among the children of Israel; they shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.
וְהָיָה בַשֵּׁבֶט אֲשֶׁר-גָּר הַגֵּר אִתּוֹ שָׁם תִּתְּנוּ נַחֲלָתוֹ נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִֽה׃
And it shall come to pass, that in what tribe the stranger sojourneth, there shall ye give him his inheritance, saith the Lord GOD.
בַּיהוָה בָּגָדוּ כִּֽי-בָנִים זָרִים יָלָדוּ עַתָּה יֹאכְלֵם חֹדֶשׁ אֶת-חֶלְקֵיהֶֽם׃
They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
אָכְלוּ זָרִים כֹּחוֹ וְהוּא לֹא יָדָע גַּם-שֵׂיבָה זָרְקָה בּוֹ וְהוּא לֹא יָדָֽע׃
Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
כִּי רוּחַ יִזְרָעוּ וְסוּפָתָה יִקְצֹרוּ קָמָה אֵֽין-לוֹ צֶמַח בְּלִי יַֽעֲשֶׂה-קֶּמַח אוּלַי יַֽעֲשֶׂה זָרִים יִבְלָעֻֽהוּ׃
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
(אכתוב) אֶכְתָּב-לוֹ (רבו) רֻבֵּי תּֽוֹרָתִי כְּמוֹ-זָר נֶחְשָֽׁבוּ׃
I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
וִֽידַעְתֶּם כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם שֹׁכֵן בְּצִיּוֹן הַר-קָדְשִׁי וְהָיְתָה יְרוּשָׁלִַם קֹדֶשׁ וְזָרִים לֹא-יַֽעַבְרוּ-בָהּ עֽוֹד׃
So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
בְּיוֹם עֲמָֽדְךָ מִנֶּגֶד בְּיוֹם שְׁבוֹת זָרִים חֵילוֹ וְנָכְרִים בָּאוּ (שערו) שְׁעָרָיו וְעַל-יְרוּשָׁלִַם יַדּוּ גוֹרָל גַּם-אַתָּה כְּאַחַד מֵהֶֽם׃
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
וְאַלְמָנָה וְיָתוֹם גֵּר וְעָנִי אַֽל-תַּעֲשֹׁקוּ וְרָעַת אִישׁ אָחִיו אַֽל-תַּחְשְׁבוּ בִּלְבַבְכֶֽם׃
And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
וְקָרַבְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם לַמִּשְׁפָּט וְהָיִיתִי׀ עֵד מְמַהֵר בַּֽמְכַשְּׁפִים וּבַמְנָאֲפִים וּבַנִּשְׁבָּעִים לַשָּׁקֶר וּבְעֹשְׁקֵי שְׂכַר-שָׂכִיר אַלְמָנָה וְיָתוֹם וּמַטֵּי-גֵר וְלֹא יְרֵאוּנִי אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאֽוֹת׃
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
