יַחְלְמוּ בְנֵיהֶם יִרְבּוּ בַבָּר יָצְאוּ וְלֹא-שָׁבוּ לָֽמוֹ׃
Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
הִקְשִׁיחַ בָּנֶיהָ לְּלֹא-לָהּ לְרִיק יְגִיעָהּ בְּלִי-פָֽחַד׃
She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
לֹֽא-יַבְרִיחֶנּוּ בֶן-קָשֶׁת לְקַשׁ נֶהְפְּכוּ-לוֹ אַבְנֵי-קָֽלַע׃
The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
אֵֽת-כָּל-גָּבֹהַּ יִרְאֶה הוּא מֶלֶךְ עַל-כָּל-בְּנֵי-שָֽׁחַץ׃
He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
וַיְחִי אִיּוֹב אַֽחֲרֵי-זֹאת מֵאָה וְאַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה (וירא) וַיִּרְאֶה אֶת-בָּנָיו וְאֶת-בְּנֵי בָנָיו אַרְבָּעָה דֹּרֽוֹת׃
After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
אֲסַפְּרָה אֶֽל חֹק יְֽהוָה אָמַר אֵלַי בְּנִי אַתָּה אֲנִי הַיּוֹם יְלִדְתִּֽיךָ׃
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
בְּנֵי אִישׁ עַד-מֶה כְבוֹדִי לִכְלִמָּה תֶּאֱהָבוּן רִיק תְּבַקְשׁוּ כָזָב סֶֽלָה׃
O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
מָֽה-אֱנוֹשׁ כִּֽי-תִזְכְּרֶנּוּ וּבֶן-אָדָם כִּי תִפְקְדֶֽנּוּ׃
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
יְהוָה׀ בְּֽהֵיכַל קָדְשׁוֹ יְהוָה בַּשָּׁמַיִם כִּסְאוֹ עֵינָיו יֶחֱזוּ עַפְעַפָּיו יִבְחֲנוּ בְּנֵי אָדָֽם׃
The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
הוֹשִׁיעָה יְהוָה כִּי-גָמַר חָסִיד כִּי-פַסּוּ אֱמוּנִים מִבְּנֵי אָדָֽם׃
Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
סָבִיב רְשָׁעִים יִתְהַלָּכוּן כְּרֻם זֻלּוּת לִבְנֵי אָדָֽם׃
The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
יְֽהוָה מִשָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁקִיף עַֽל-בְּנֵי-אָדָם לִרְאוֹת הֲיֵשׁ מַשְׂכִּיל דֹּרֵשׁ אֶת-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
מִֽמְתִים יָדְךָ׀ יְהוָה מִֽמְתִים מֵחֶלֶד חֶלְקָם בַּֽחַיִּים וּֽצְפוּנְךָ תְּמַלֵּא בִטְנָם יִשְׂבְּעוּ בָנִים וְהִנִּיחוּ יִתְרָם לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶֽם׃
From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
לְשֵׁמַֽע אֹזֶן יִשָּׁמְעוּ לִי בְּנֵֽי-נֵכָר יְכַחֲשׁוּ-לִֽי׃
As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
בְּנֵי-נֵכָר יִבֹּלוּ וְיַחְרְגוּ מִֽמִּסְגְּרֽוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
פִּרְיָמוֹ מֵאֶרֶץ תְּאַבֵּד וְזַרְעָם מִבְּנֵי אָדָֽם׃
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
הָבוּ לַֽיהוָה בְּנֵי אֵלִים הָבוּ לַיהוָה כָּבוֹד וָעֹֽז׃
Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
וַיַּרְקִידֵם כְּמוֹ-עֵגֶל לְבָנוֹן וְשִׂרְיֹן כְּמוֹ בֶן-רְאֵמִֽים׃
He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
מָה רַֽב-טוּבְךָ אֲשֶׁר-צָפַנְתָּ לִּֽירֵאֶיךָ פָּעַלְתָּ לַחֹסִים בָּךְ נֶגֶד בְּנֵי אָדָם׃
Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
מִשָּׁמַיִם הִבִּיט יְהוָה רָאָה אֶֽת-כָּל-בְּנֵי הָאָדָֽם׃
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
לְֽכוּ-בָנִים שִׁמְעוּ-לִי יִֽרְאַת יְהוָה אֲלַמֶּדְכֶֽם׃
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
מַה-יָּקָר חַסְדְּךָ אֱלֹהִים וּבְנֵי אָדָם בְּצֵל כְּנָפֶיךָ יֶחֱסָיֽוּן׃
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
יָפְיָפִיתָ מִבְּנֵי אָדָם הוּצַק חֵן בְּשְׂפְתוֹתֶיךָ עַל-כֵּן בֵּֽרַכְךָ אֱלֹהִים לְעוֹלָֽם׃
Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
תַּחַת אֲבֹתֶיךָ יִהְיוּ בָנֶיךָ תְּשִׁיתֵמוֹ לְשָׂרִים בְּכָל-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.
גַּם-בְּנֵי אָדָם גַּם-בְּנֵי-אִישׁ יַחַד עָשִׁיר וְאֶבְיֽוֹן׃
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
תֵּשֵׁב בְּאָחִיךָ תְדַבֵּר בְּבֶֽן-אִמְּךָ תִּתֶּן-דֹּֽפִי׃
Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son.
אֱֽלֹהִים מִשָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁקִיף עַֽל-בְּנֵי-אָדָם לִרְאוֹת הֲיֵשׁ מַשְׂכִּיל דֹּרֵשׁ אֶת-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
נַפְשִׁי׀ בְּתוֹךְ לְבָאִם אֶשְׁכְּבָה לֹהֲטִים בְּֽנֵי-אָדָם שִׁנֵּיהֶם חֲנִית וְחִצִּים וּלְשׁוֹנָם חֶרֶב חַדָּֽה׃
My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
הַֽאֻמְנָם אֵלֶם צֶדֶק תְּדַבֵּרוּן מֵישָׁרִים תִּשְׁפְּטוּ בְּנֵי אָדָֽם׃
Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
אַךְ׀ הֶבֶל בְּנֵֽי-אָדָם כָּזָב בְּנֵי אִישׁ בְּמֹאזְנַיִם לַעֲלוֹת הֵמָּה מֵהֶבֶל יָֽחַד׃
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
לְכוּ וּרְאוּ מִפְעֲלוֹת אֱלֹהִים נוֹרָא עֲלִילָה עַל-בְּנֵי אָדָֽם׃
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
מוּזָר הָיִיתִי לְאֶחָי וְנָכְרִי לִבְנֵי אִמִּֽי׃
I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.
אֱֽלֹהִים מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ לְמֶלֶךְ תֵּן וְצִדְקָתְךָ לְבֶן-מֶֽלֶךְ׃
Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.
יִשְׁפֹּט׀ עֲֽנִיֵּי-עָם יוֹשִׁיעַ לִבְנֵי אֶבְיוֹן וִֽידַכֵּא עוֹשֵֽׁק׃
He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
אִם-אָמַרְתִּי אֲסַפְּרָה כְמוֹ הִנֵּה דוֹר בָּנֶיךָ בָגָֽדְתִּי׃
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
גָּאַלְתָּ בִּזְרוֹעַ עַמֶּךָ בְּנֵי-יַעֲקֹב וְיוֹסֵף סֶֽלָה׃
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
לֹא נְכַחֵד׀ מִבְּנֵיהֶם לְדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן מְֽסַפְּרִים תְּהִלּוֹת יְהוָה וֶעֱזוּזוֹ וְנִפְלְאֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָֽׂה׃
We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
וַיָּקֶם עֵדוּת׀ בְּֽיַעֲקֹב וְתוֹרָה שָׂם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֶת-אֲבוֹתֵינוּ לְהוֹדִיעָם לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
לְמַעַן יֵדְעוּ׀ דּוֹר אַחֲרוֹן בָּנִים יִוָּלֵדוּ יָקֻמוּ וִֽיסַפְּרוּ לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃
That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
בְּֽנֵי-אֶפְרַיִם נוֹשְׁקֵי רוֹמֵי-קָשֶׁת הָפְכוּ בְּיוֹם קְרָֽב׃
The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
תָּבוֹא לְפָנֶיךָ אֶנְקַת אָסִיר כְּגֹדֶל זְרוֹעֲךָ הוֹתֵר בְּנֵי תְמוּתָֽה׃
Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
תְּֽהִי-יָדְךָ עַל-אִישׁ יְמִינֶךָ עַל-בֶּן-אָדָם אִמַּצְתָּ לָּֽךְ׃
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
אֲֽנִי-אָמַרְתִּי אֱלֹהִים אַתֶּם וּבְנֵי עֶלְיוֹן כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
גַּם-אַשּׁוּר נִלְוָה עִמָּם הָיוּ זְרוֹעַ לִבְנֵי-לוֹט סֶֽלָה׃
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
פְּנֵה אֵלַי וְחָנֵּנִי תְּנָֽה-עֻזְּךָ לְעַבְדֶּךָ וְהוֹשִׁיעָה לְבֶן-אֲמָתֶֽךָ׃
O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
כִּי מִי בַשַּׁחַק יַעֲרֹךְ לַיהוָה יִדְמֶה לַיהוָה בִּבְנֵי אֵלִים׃
For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?
לֹֽא-יַשִּׁיא אוֹיֵב בּוֹ וּבֶן-עַוְלָה לֹא יְעַנֶּֽנּוּ׃
The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
אִם-יַֽעַזְבוּ בָנָיו תּוֹרָתִי וּבְמִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא יֵלֵכֽוּן׃
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
זְכָר-אֲנִי מֶה-חָלֶד עַל-מַה-שָּׁוְא בָּרָאתָ כָל-בְּנֵי-אָדָֽם׃
Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
יֵרָאֶה אֶל-עֲבָדֶיךָ פָעֳלֶךָ וַהֲדָרְךָ עַל-בְּנֵיהֶֽם׃
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶנְקַת אָסִיר לְפַתֵּחַ בְּנֵי תְמוּתָֽה׃
To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;
בְּנֵֽי-עֲבָדֶיךָ יִשְׁכּוֹנוּ וְזַרְעָם לְפָנֶיךָ יִכּֽוֹן׃
The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
יוֹדִיעַ דְּרָכָיו לְמֹשֶׁה לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֲלִילֽוֹתָיו׃
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
כְּרַחֵם אָב עַל-בָּנִים רִחַם יְהוָה עַל-יְרֵאָֽיו׃
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
יוֹדוּ לַיהוָה חַסְדּוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו לִבְנֵי אָדָֽם׃
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

הֶֽהָרִים רָקְדוּ כְאֵילִים גְּבָעוֹת כִּבְנֵי-צֹֽאן׃
The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.

Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
יֹסֵף יְהוָה עֲלֵיכֶם עֲלֵיכֶם וְעַל-בְּנֵיכֶֽם׃
The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
הַשָּׁמַיִם שָׁמַיִם לַיהוָה וְהָאָרֶץ נָתַן לִבְנֵי-אָדָֽם׃
The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
וּרְאֵֽה-בָנִים לְבָנֶיךָ שָׁלוֹם עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.
אִֽם-יִשְׁמְרוּ בָנֶיךָ׀ בְּרִיתִי וְעֵדֹתִי זוֹ אֲלַמְּדֵם גַּם-בְּנֵיהֶם עֲדֵי-עַד יֵשְׁבוּ לְכִסֵּא-לָֽךְ׃
If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.
זְכֹר יְהוָה׀ לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם אֵת יוֹם יְֽרוּשָׁלִָם הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ׀ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּֽהּ׃
Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
יְֽהוָה מָה-אָדָם וַתֵּדָעֵהוּ בֶּן-אֱנוֹשׁ וַֽתְּחַשְּׁבֵֽהוּ׃
LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
שְׁלַח יָדֶיךָ מִמָּרוֹם פְּצֵנִי וְהַצִּילֵנִי מִמַּיִם רַבִּים מִיַּד בְּנֵי נֵכָֽר׃
Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
פְּצֵנִי וְהַצִּילֵנִי מִיַּד בְּֽנֵי-נֵכָר אֲשֶׁר פִּיהֶם דִּבֶּר-שָׁוְא וִֽימִינָם יְמִין שָֽׁקֶר׃
Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
אֲשֶׁר בָּנֵינוּ׀ כִּנְטִעִים מְגֻדָּלִים בִּֽנְעוּרֵיהֶם בְּנוֹתֵינוּ כְזָוִיֹּת מְחֻטָּבוֹת תַּבְנִית הֵיכָֽל׃
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
לְהוֹדִיעַ׀ לִבְנֵי הָאָדָם גְּבוּרֹתָיו וּכְבוֹד הֲדַר מַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃
To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
אַל-תִּבְטְחוּ בִנְדִיבִים בְּבֶן-אָדָם׀ שֶׁאֵֽין לוֹ תְשׁוּעָֽה׃
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
בְּנִי אִם-תִּקַּח אֲמָרָי וּמִצְוֹתַי תִּצְפֹּן אִתָּֽךְ׃
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
בְּנִי תּוֹרָתִי אַל-תִּשְׁכָּח וּמִצְוֹתַי יִצֹּר לִבֶּֽךָ׃
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
מוּסַר יְהוָה בְּנִי אַל-תִּמְאָס וְאַל-תָּקֹץ בְּתוֹכַחְתּֽוֹ׃
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
כִּי אֶת אֲשֶׁר יֶאֱהַב יְהוָה יוֹכִיחַ וּכְאָב אֶת-בֵּן יִרְצֶֽה׃
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
בְּנִי אַל-יָלֻזוּ מֵעֵינֶיךָ נְצֹר תֻּשִׁיָּה וּמְזִמָּֽה׃
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
שִׁמְעוּ בָנִים מוּסַר אָב וְהַקְשִׁיבוּ לָדַעַת בִּינָֽה׃
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
