הֲיֵשׁ בְּהַבְלֵי הַגּוֹיִם מַגְשִׁמִים וְאִם-הַשָּׁמַיִם יִתְּנוּ רְבִבִים הֲלֹא אַתָּה-הוּא יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וּנְקַוֶּה-לָּךְ כִּֽי-אַתָּה עָשִׂיתָ אֶת-כָּל-אֵֽלֶּה׃
Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
יְהוָה עֻזִּי וּמָעֻזִּי וּמְנוּסִי בְּיוֹם צָרָה אֵלֶיךָ גּוֹיִם יָבֹאוּ מֵֽאַפְסֵי-אָרֶץ וְיֹאמְרוּ אַךְ-שֶׁקֶר נָחֲלוּ אֲבוֹתֵינוּ הֶבֶל וְאֵֽין-בָּם מוֹעִֽיל׃
O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
רֶגַע אֲדַבֵּר עַל-גּוֹי וְעַל-מַמְלָכָה לִנְתוֹשׁ וְלִנְתוֹץ וּֽלְהַאֲבִֽיד׃
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
וְשָׁב הַגּוֹי הַהוּא מֵרָעָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי עָלָיו וְנִֽחַמְתִּי עַל-הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר חָשַׁבְתִּי לַעֲשׂוֹת לֽוֹ׃
If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
וְרֶגַע אֲדַבֵּר עַל-גּוֹי וְעַל-מַמְלָכָה לִבְנוֹת וְלִנְטֽוֹעַ׃
And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה שַֽׁאֲלוּ-נָא בַּגּוֹיִם מִי שָׁמַע כָּאֵלֶּה שַֽׁעֲרֻרִת עָשְׂתָה מְאֹד בְּתוּלַת יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
וְעָֽבְרוּ גּוֹיִם רַבִּים עַל הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְאָֽמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל-רֵעֵהוּ עַל-מֶה עָשָׂה יְהוָה כָּכָה לָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה הַזֹּֽאת׃
And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?
הִנְנִי שֹׁלֵחַ וְלָקַחְתִּי אֶת-כָּל-מִשְׁפְּחוֹת צָפוֹן נְאֻם-יְהוָה וְאֶל-נְבֽוּכַדְרֶאצַּר מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל עַבְדִּי וַהֲבִאֹתִים עַל-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת וְעַל-יֹשְׁבֶיהָ וְעַל כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה סָבִיב וְהַחֲרַמְתִּים וְשַׂמְתִּים לְשַׁמָּה וְלִשְׁרֵקָה וּלְחָרְבוֹת עוֹלָֽם׃
Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
וְהָֽיְתָה כָּל-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת לְחָרְבָּה לְשַׁמָּה וְעָבְדוּ הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה אֶת-מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָֽה׃
And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
וְהָיָה כִמְלֹאות שִׁבְעִים שָׁנָה אֶפְקֹד עַל-מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל וְעַל-הַגּוֹי הַהוּא נְאֻם-יְהוָה אֶת-עֲוֹנָם וְעַל-אֶרֶץ כַּשְׂדִּים וְשַׂמְתִּי אֹתוֹ לְשִֽׁמְמוֹת עוֹלָֽם׃
And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
(והבאיתי) וְהֵֽבֵאתִי עַל-הָאָרֶץ הַהִיא אֶת-כָּל-דְּבָרַי אֲשֶׁר-דִּבַּרְתִּי עָלֶיהָ אֵת כָּל-הַכָּתוּב בַּסֵּפֶר הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר-נִבָּא יִרְמְיָהוּ עַל-כָּל-הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.
כִּי עָֽבְדוּ-בָם גַּם-הֵמָּה גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וּמְלָכִים גְּדוֹלִים וְשִׁלַּמְתִּי לָהֶם כְּפָעֳלָם וּכְמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיהֶֽם׃
For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.
כִּי כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵלַי קַח אֶת-כּוֹס הַיַּיִן הַחֵמָה הַזֹּאת מִיָּדִי וְהִשְׁקִיתָה אֹתוֹ אֶת-כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ אוֹתְךָ אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
וָאֶקַּח אֶת-הַכּוֹס מִיַּד יְהוָה וָֽאַשְׁקֶה אֶת-כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-שְׁלָחַנִי יְהוָה אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
Then took I the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:
בָּא שָׁאוֹן עַד-קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ כִּי רִיב לַֽיהוָה בַּגּוֹיִם נִשְׁפָּט הוּא לְכָל-בָּשָׂר הָרְשָׁעִים נְתָנָם לַחֶרֶב נְאֻם-יְהוָֽה׃
A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת הִנֵּה רָעָה יֹצֵאת מִגּוֹי אֶל-גּוֹי וְסַעַר גָּדוֹל יֵעוֹר מִיַּרְכְּתֵי-אָֽרֶץ׃
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה כְּשִׁלֹה וְאֶת-הָעִיר (הזאתה) הַזֹּאת אֶתֵּן לִקְלָלָה לְכֹל גּוֹיֵי הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
וְעָבְדוּ אֹתוֹ כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם וְאֶת-בְּנוֹ וְאֶֽת-בֶּן-בְּנוֹ עַד בֹּא-עֵת אַרְצוֹ גַּם-הוּא וְעָבְדוּ בוֹ גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וּמְלָכִים גְּדֹלִֽים׃
And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.
וְהָיָה הַגּוֹי וְהַמַּמְלָכָה אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יַעַבְדוּ אֹתוֹ אֶת-נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יִתֵּן אֶת-צַוָּארוֹ בְּעֹל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל בַּחֶרֶב וּבָרָעָב וּבַדֶּבֶר אֶפְקֹד עַל-הַגּוֹי הַהוּא נְאֻם-יְהוָה עַד-תֻּמִּי אֹתָם בְּיָדֽוֹ׃
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
וְהַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר יָבִיא אֶת-צַוָּארוֹ בְּעֹל מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל וַֽעֲבָדוֹ וְהִנַּחְתִּיו עַל-אַדְמָתוֹ נְאֻם-יְהוָה וַֽעֲבָדָהּ וְיָשַׁב בָּֽהּ׃
But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
לָמָּה תָמוּתוּ אַתָּה וְעַמֶּךָ בַּחֶרֶב בָּרָעָב וּבַדָּבֶר כַּֽאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל-הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יַעֲבֹד אֶת-מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶֽל׃
Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
וַיֹּאמֶר חֲנַנְיָה לְעֵינֵי כָל-הָעָם לֵאמֹר כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה כָּכָה אֶשְׁבֹּר אֶת-עֹל׀ נְבֻֽכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל בְּעוֹד שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים מֵעַל צַוַּאר כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם וַיֵּלֶךְ יִרְמְיָה הַנָּבִיא לְדַרְכּֽוֹ׃
And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
כִּי כֹֽה-אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עֹל בַּרְזֶל נָתַתִּי עַל-צַוַּאר׀ כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה לַעֲבֹד אֶת-נְבֻכַדְנֶאצַּר מֶֽלֶךְ-בָּבֶל וַעֲבָדֻהוּ וְגַם אֶת-חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה נָתַתִּי לֽוֹ׃
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.
וְנִמְצֵאתִי לָכֶם נְאֻם-יְהוָה וְשַׁבְתִּי אֶת-(שביתכם) שְׁבוּתְכֶם וְקִבַּצְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִֽכָּל-הַגּוֹיִם וּמִכָּל-הַמְּקוֹמוֹת אֲשֶׁר הִדַּחְתִּי אֶתְכֶם שָׁם נְאֻם-יְהוָה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִי אֶתְכֶם אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר-הִגְלֵיתִי אֶתְכֶם מִשָּֽׁם׃
And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
וְרָֽדַפְתִּי אַֽחֲרֵיהֶם בַּחֶרֶב בָּרָעָב וּבַדָּבֶר וּנְתַתִּים (לזועה) לְזַעֲוָה לְכֹל׀ מַמְלְכוֹת הָאָרֶץ לְאָלָה וּלְשַׁמָּה וְלִשְׁרֵקָה וּלְחֶרְפָּה בְּכָל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-הִדַּחְתִּים שָֽׁם׃
And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:
כִּֽי-אִתְּךָ אֲנִי נְאֻם-יְהוָה לְהֽוֹשִׁיעֶךָ כִּי אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה בְּכָֽל-הַגּוֹיִם׀ אֲשֶׁר הֲפִצוֹתִיךָ שָּׁם אַךְ אֹֽתְךָ לֹֽא-אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה וְיִסַּרְתִּיךָ לַמִּשְׁפָּט וְנַקֵּה לֹא אֲנַקֶּֽךָּ׃
For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.
כִּי-כֹה׀ אָמַר יְהוָה רָנּוּ לְיַֽעֲקֹב שִׂמְחָה וְצַהֲלוּ בְּרֹאשׁ הַגּוֹיִם הַשְׁמִיעוּ הַֽלְלוּ וְאִמְרוּ הוֹשַׁע יְהוָה אֶֽת-עַמְּךָ אֵת שְׁאֵרִית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.
שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר-יְהוָה גּוֹיִם וְהַגִּידוּ בָאִיִּים מִמֶּרְחָק וְאִמְרוּ מְזָרֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל יְקַבְּצֶנּוּ וּשְׁמָרוֹ כְּרֹעֶה עֶדְרֽוֹ׃
Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.
אִם-יָמֻשׁוּ הַחֻקִּים הָאֵלֶּה מִלְּפָנַי נְאֻם-יְהוָה גַּם זֶרַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יִשְׁבְּתוּ מִֽהְיוֹת גּוֹי לְפָנַי כָּל-הַיָּמִֽים׃
If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
וְהָיְתָה לִּי לְשֵׁם שָׂשׂוֹן לִתְהִלָּה וּלְתִפְאֶרֶת לְכֹל גּוֹיֵי הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁמְעוּ אֶת-כָּל-הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר אָֽנֹכִי עֹשֶׂה אוֹתָם וּפָחֲדוּ וְרָֽגְזוּ עַל כָּל-הַטּוֹבָה וְעַל כָּל-הַשָּׁלוֹם אֲשֶׁר אָֽנֹכִי עֹשֶׂה לָּֽהּ׃
And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.
הֲלוֹא רָאִיתָ מָֽה-הָעָם הַזֶּה דִּבְּרוּ לֵאמֹר שְׁתֵּי הַמִּשְׁפָּחוֹת אֲשֶׁר בָּחַר יְהוָה בָּהֶם וַיִּמְאָסֵם וְאֶת-עַמִּי יִנְאָצוּן מִֽהְיוֹת עוֹד גּוֹי לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
קַח-לְךָ מְגִלַּת-סֵפֶר וְכָתַבְתָּ אֵלֶיהָ אֵת כָּל-הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר-דִּבַּרְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ עַל-יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל-יְהוּדָה וְעַל-כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם מִיּוֹם דִּבַּרְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ מִימֵי יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ וְעַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
וַיִּקַּח יוֹחָנָן בֶּן-קָרֵחַ וְכָל-שָׂרֵי הַחֲיָלִים אֵת כָּל-שְׁאֵרִית יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר-שָׁבוּ מִכָּל-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר נִדְּחוּ-שָׁם לָגוּר בְּאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָֽה׃
But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whither they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;
לְהַכְעִסֵנִי בְּמַעֲשֵׂי יְדֵיכֶם לְקַטֵּר לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר-אַתֶּם בָּאִים לָגוּר שָׁם לְמַעַן הַכְרִית לָכֶם וּלְמַעַן הֱיֽוֹתְכֶם לִקְלָלָה וּלְחֶרְפָּה בְּכֹל גּוֹיֵי הָאָֽרֶץ׃
In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
אֲשֶׁר הָיָה דְבַר-יְהוָה אֶל-יִרְמְיָהוּ הַנָּבִיא עַל-הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles;
שָׁמְעוּ גוֹיִם קְלוֹנֵךְ וְצִוְחָתֵךְ מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ כִּֽי-גִבּוֹר בְּגִבּוֹר כָּשָׁלוּ יַחְדָּיו נָפְלוּ שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃
The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, and they are fallen both together.
אַתָּה אַל-תִּירָא עַבְדִּי יַֽעֲקֹב נְאֻם-יְהוָה כִּי אִתְּךָ אָנִי כִּי אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה בְּכָֽל-הַגּוֹיִם׀ אֲשֶׁר הִדַּחְתִּיךָ שָׁמָּה וְאֹֽתְךָ לֹא-אֶעֱשֶׂה כָלָה וְיִסַּרְתִּיךָ לַמִּשְׁפָּט וְנַקֵּה לֹא אֲנַקֶּֽךָּ׃
Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.
אֵין עוֹד תְּהִלַּת מוֹאָב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן חָשְׁבוּ עָלֶיהָ רָעָה לְכוּ וְנַכְרִיתֶנָּה מִגּוֹי גַּם-מַדְמֵן תִּדֹּמִּי אַחֲרַיִךְ תֵּלֶךְ חָֽרֶב׃
There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.
שְׁמוּעָה שָׁמַעְתִּי מֵאֵת יְהוָה וְצִיר בַּגּוֹיִם שָׁלוּחַ הִֽתְקַבְּצוּ וּבֹאוּ עָלֶיהָ וְקוּמוּ לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
כִּֽי-הִנֵּה קָטֹן נְתַתִּיךָ בַּגּוֹיִם בָּזוּי בָּאָדָֽם׃
For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.
קוּמוּ עֲלוּ אֶל-גּוֹי שְׁלֵיו יוֹשֵׁב לָבֶטַח נְאֻם-יְהוָה לֹא-דְלָתַיִם וְלֹֽא-בְרִיחַ לוֹ בָּדָד יִשְׁכֹּֽנוּ׃
Arise, get you up unto the wealthy nation, that dwelleth without care, saith the LORD, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone.
וְהֵבֵאתִי אֶל-עֵילָם אַרְבַּע רוּחוֹת מֵֽאַרְבַּע קְצוֹת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְזֵרִתִים לְכֹל הָרֻחוֹת הָאֵלֶּה וְלֹֽא-יִהְיֶה הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר לֹֽא-יָבוֹא שָׁם נִדְּחֵי (עולם) עֵילָֽם׃
And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
הַגִּידוּ בַגּוֹיִם וְהַשְׁמִיעוּ וּֽשְׂאוּ-נֵס הַשְׁמִיעוּ אַל-תְּכַחֵדוּ אִמְרוּ נִלְכְּדָה בָבֶל הֹבִישׁ בֵּל חַת מְרֹדָךְ הֹבִישׁוּ עֲצַבֶּיהָ חַתּוּ גִּלּוּלֶֽיהָ׃
Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
כִּי עָלָה עָלֶיהָ גּוֹי מִצָּפוֹן הֽוּא-יָשִׁית אֶת-אַרְצָהּ לְשַׁמָּה וְלֹֽא-יִהְיֶה יוֹשֵׁב בָּהּ מֵאָדָם וְעַד-בְּהֵמָה נָדוּ הָלָֽכוּ׃
For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
כִּי הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מֵעִיר וּמַעֲלֶה עַל-בָּבֶל קְהַל-גּוֹיִם גְּדֹלִים מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן וְעָרְכוּ לָהּ מִשָּׁם תִּלָּכֵד חִצָּיו כְּגִבּוֹר מַשְׁכִּיל לֹא יָשׁוּב רֵיקָֽם׃
For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
בּוֹשָׁה אִמְּכֶם מְאֹד חָפְרָה יֽוֹלַדְתְּכֶם הִנֵּה אַחֲרִית גּוֹיִם מִדְבָּר צִיָּה וַעֲרָבָֽה׃
Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.
אֵיךְ נִגְדַּע וַיִּשָּׁבֵר פַּטִּישׁ כָּל-הָאָרֶץ אֵיךְ הָיְתָה לְשַׁמָּה בָּבֶל בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃
How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!
הִנֵּה עַם בָּא מִצָּפוֹן וְגוֹי גָּדוֹל וּמְלָכִים רַבִּים יֵעֹרוּ מִיַּרְכְּתֵי-אָֽרֶץ׃
Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
מִקּוֹל נִתְפְּשָׂה בָבֶל נִרְעֲשָׁה הָאָרֶץ וּזְעָקָה בַּגּוֹיִם נִשְׁמָֽע׃
At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
כּוֹס-זָהָב בָּבֶל בְּיַד-יְהוָה מְשַׁכֶּרֶת כָּל-הָאָרֶץ מִיֵּינָהּ שָׁתוּ גוֹיִם עַל-כֵּן יִתְהֹלְלוּ גוֹיִֽם׃
Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
מַפֵּץ-אַתָּה לִי כְּלֵי מִלְחָמָה וְנִפַּצְתִּי בְךָ גּוֹיִם וְהִשְׁחַתִּי בְךָ מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃
Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
שְׂאוּ-נֵס בָּאָרֶץ תִּקְעוּ שׁוֹפָר בַּגּוֹיִם קַדְּשׁוּ עָלֶיהָ גּוֹיִם הַשְׁמִיעוּ עָלֶיהָ מַמְלְכוֹת אֲרָרַט מִנִּי וְאַשְׁכְּנָז פִּקְדוּ עָלֶיהָ טִפְסָר הַֽעֲלוּ-סוּס כְּיֶלֶק סָמָֽר׃
Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.
קַדְּשׁוּ עָלֶיהָ גוֹיִם אֶת-מַלְכֵי מָדַי אֶת-פַּחוֹתֶיהָ וְאֶת-כָּל-סְגָנֶיהָ וְאֵת כָּל-אֶרֶץ מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃
Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
אֵיךְ נִלְכְּדָה שֵׁשַׁךְ וַתִּתָּפֵשׂ תְּהִלַּת כָּל-הָאָרֶץ אֵיךְ הָיְתָה לְשַׁמָּה בָּבֶל בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃
How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
וּפָקַדְתִּי עַל-בֵּל בְּבָבֶל וְהֹצֵאתִי אֶת-בִּלְעוֹ מִפִּיו וְלֹֽא-יִנְהֲרוּ אֵלָיו עוֹד גּוֹיִם גַּם-חוֹמַת בָּבֶל נָפָֽלָה׃
And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
אֵיכָה׀ יָשְׁבָה בָדָד הָעִיר רַבָּתִי עָם הָיְתָה כְּאַלְמָנָה רַבָּתִי בַגּוֹיִם שָׂרָתִי בַּמְּדִינוֹת הָיְתָה לָמַֽס׃
How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
גָּֽלְתָה יְהוּדָה מֵעֹנִי וּמֵרֹב עֲבֹדָה הִיא יָשְׁבָה בַגּוֹיִם לֹא מָצְאָה מָנוֹחַ כָּל-רֹדְפֶיהָ הִשִּׂיגוּהָ בֵּין הַמְּצָרִֽים׃
Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude: she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors overtook her between the straits.
יָדוֹ פָּרַשׂ צָר עַל כָּל-מַחֲמַדֶּיהָ כִּֽי-רָאֲתָה גוֹיִם בָּאוּ מִקְדָּשָׁהּ אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתָה לֹא-יָבֹאוּ בַקָּהָל לָֽךְ׃
The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
טָבְעוּ בָאָרֶץ שְׁעָרֶיהָ אִבַּד וְשִׁבַּר בְּרִיחֶיהָ מַלְכָּהּ וְשָׂרֶיהָ בַגּוֹיִם אֵין תּוֹרָה גַּם-נְבִיאֶיהָ לֹא-מָצְאוּ חָזוֹן מֵיְהוָֽה׃
Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.
סוּרוּ טָמֵא קָרְאוּ לָמוֹ סוּרוּ סוּרוּ אַל-תִּגָּעוּ כִּי נָצוּ גַּם-נָעוּ אָֽמְרוּ בַּגּוֹיִם לֹא יוֹסִיפוּ לָגֽוּר׃
They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.
(עודינה) עוֹדֵינוּ תִּכְלֶינָה עֵינֵינוּ אֶל-עֶזְרָתֵנוּ הָבֶל בְּצִפִּיָּתֵנוּ צִפִּינוּ אֶל-גּוֹי לֹא יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃
As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.
רוּחַ אַפֵּינוּ מְשִׁיחַ יְהוָה נִלְכַּד בִּשְׁחִיתוֹתָם אֲשֶׁר אָמַרְנוּ בְּצִלּוֹ נִֽחְיֶה בַגּוֹיִֽם׃
The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי בֶּן-אָדָם שׁוֹלֵחַ אֲנִי אֽוֹתְךָ אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל-גּוֹיִם הַמּוֹרְדִים אֲשֶׁר מָרְדוּ-בִי הֵמָּה וַאֲבוֹתָם פָּשְׁעוּ בִי עַד-עֶצֶם הַיּוֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה כָּכָה יֹאכְלוּ בְנֵֽי-יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-לַחְמָם טָמֵא בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר אַדִּיחֵם שָֽׁם׃
And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.
כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִֹה זֹאת יְרוּשָׁלִַם בְּתוֹךְ הַגּוֹיִם שַׂמְתִּיהָ וּסְבִיבוֹתֶיהָ אֲרָצֽוֹת׃
Thus saith the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
וַתֶּמֶר אֶת-מִשְׁפָּטַי לְרִשְׁעָה מִן-הַגּוֹיִם וְאֶת-חֻקּוֹתַי מִן-הָאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֶיהָ כִּי בְמִשְׁפָּטַי מָאָסוּ וְחֻקּוֹתַי לֹא-הָלְכוּ בָהֶֽם׃
And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
לָכֵן כֹּֽה-אָמַר׀ אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה יַעַן הֲמָנְכֶם מִן-הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבֽוֹתֵיכֶם בְּחֻקּוֹתַי לֹא הֲלַכְתֶּם וְאֶת-מִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;
לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנְנִי עָלַיִךְ גַּם-אָנִי וְעָשִׂיתִי בְתוֹכֵךְ מִשְׁפָּטִים לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
וְאֶתְּנֵךְ לְחָרְבָּה וּלְחֶרְפָּה בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתָיִךְ לְעֵינֵי כָּל-עוֹבֵֽר׃
Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
וְֽהָיְתָה חֶרְפָּה וּגְדוּפָה מוּסָר וּמְשַׁמָּה לַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתָיִךְ בַּעֲשׂוֹתִי בָךְ שְׁפָטִים בְּאַף וּבְחֵמָה וּבְתֹכְחוֹת חֵמָה אֲנִי יְהוָה דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃
So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the LORD have spoken it.
וְהוֹתַרְתִּי בִּהְיוֹת לָכֶם פְּלִיטֵי חֶרֶב בַּגּוֹיִם בְּהִזָּרֽוֹתֵיכֶם בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries.
וְזָכְרוּ פְלִֽיטֵיכֶם אוֹתִי בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבּוּ-שָׁם אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּרְתִּי אֶת-לִבָּם הַזּוֹנֶה אֲשֶׁר-סָר מֵֽעָלַי וְאֵת עֵֽינֵיהֶם הַזֹּנוֹת אַחֲרֵי גִּלּֽוּלֵיהֶם וְנָקֹטּוּ בִּפְנֵיהֶם אֶל-הָֽרָעוֹת אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ לְכֹל תּוֹעֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃
And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
וְהֵֽבֵאתִי רָעֵי גוֹיִם וְיָרְשׁוּ אֶת-בָּֽתֵּיהֶם וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי גְּאוֹן עַזִּים וְנִחֲלוּ מְקַֽדְשֵׁיהֶֽם׃
Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.
וִֽידַעְתֶּם כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר בְּחֻקַּי לֹא הֲלַכְתֶּם וּמִשְׁפָּטַי לֹא עֲשִׂיתֶם וּֽכְמִשְׁפְּטֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃
And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.
לָכֵן אֱמֹר כֹּֽה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה כִּי הִרְחַקְתִּים בַּגּוֹיִם וְכִי הֲפִֽיצוֹתִים בָּאֲרָצוֹת וָאֱהִי לָהֶם לְמִקְדָּשׁ מְעַט בָּאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר-בָּאוּ שָֽׁם׃
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
וְיָדְעוּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָה בַּהֲפִיצִי אוֹתָם בַּגּוֹיִם וְזֵרִיתִי אוֹתָם בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall scatter them among the nations, and disperse them in the countries.
וְהוֹתַרְתִּי מֵהֶם אַנְשֵׁי מִסְפָּר מֵחֶרֶב מֵרָעָב וּמִדָּבֶר לְמַעַן יְסַפְּרוּ אֶת-כָּל-תּוֹעֲבֽוֹתֵיהֶם בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-בָּאוּ שָׁם וְיָדְעוּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָֽה׃
But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
וַיֵּצֵא לָךְ שֵׁם בַּגּוֹיִם בְּיָפְיֵךְ כִּי׀ כָּלִיל הוּא בַּֽהֲדָרִי אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתִּי עָלַיִךְ נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִֽה׃
And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ אֵלָיו גּוֹיִם בְּשַׁחְתָּם נִתְפָּשׂ וַיְבִאֻהוּ בַֽחַחִים אֶל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
The nations also heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with chains unto the land of Egypt.
וַיִּתְּנוּ עָלָיו גּוֹיִם סָבִיב מִמְּדִינוֹת וַֽיִּפְרְשׂוּ עָלָיו רִשְׁתָּם בְּשַׁחְתָּם נִתְפָּֽשׂ׃
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him: he was taken in their pit.
וָאַעַשׂ לְמַעַן שְׁמִי לְבִלְתִּי הֵחֵל לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-הֵמָּה בְתוֹכָם אֲשֶׁר נוֹדַעְתִּי אֲלֵיהֶם לְעֵינֵיהֶם לְהוֹצִיאָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
וָאֶעֱשֶׂה לְמַעַן שְׁמִי לְבִלְתִּי הֵחֵל לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר הוֹצֵאתִים לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃
But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
וַהֲשִׁבֹתִי אֶת-יָדִי וָאַעַשׂ לְמַעַן שְׁמִי לְבִלְתִּי הֵחֵל לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר-הוֹצֵאתִי אוֹתָם לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
גַּם-אֲנִי נָשָׂאתִי אֶת-יָדִי לָהֶם בַּמִּדְבָּר לְהָפִיץ אֹתָם בַּגּוֹיִם וּלְזָרוֹת אוֹתָם בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;
וְהָֽעֹלָה עַל-רוּחֲכֶם הָיוֹ לֹא תִֽהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר׀ אַתֶּם אֹמְרִים נִֽהְיֶה כַגּוֹיִם כְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹת הָאֲרָצוֹת לְשָׁרֵת עֵץ וָאָֽבֶן׃
And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
בְּרֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ אֶרְצֶה אֶתְכֶם בְּהוֹצִיאִי אֶתְכֶם מִן-הָעַמִּים וְקִבַּצְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מִן-הָאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר נְפֹצֹתֶם בָּם וְנִקְדַּשְׁתִּי בָכֶם לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
בְּדָמֵךְ אֲשֶׁר-שָׁפַכְתְּ אָשַׁמְתְּ וּבְגִלּוּלַיִךְ אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂית טָמֵאת וַתַּקְרִיבִי יָמַיִךְ וַתָּבוֹא עַד-שְׁנוֹתָיִךְ עַל-כֵּן נְתַתִּיךְ חֶרְפָּה לַגּוֹיִם וְקַלָּסָה לְכָל-הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to all countries.
וַהֲפִיצוֹתִי אוֹתָךְ בַּגּוֹיִם וְזֵרִיתִיךְ בָּאֲרָצוֹת וַהֲתִמֹּתִי טֻמְאָתֵךְ מִמֵּֽךְ׃
And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.
וְנִחַלְתְּ בָּךְ לְעֵינֵי גוֹיִם וְיָדַעַתְּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָֽה׃
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
עָשֹׂה אֵלֶּה לָךְ בִּזְנוֹתֵךְ אַחֲרֵי גוֹיִם עַל אֲשֶׁר-נִטְמֵאת בְּגִלּוּלֵיהֶֽם׃
I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.
לָכֵן הִנְנִי נָטִיתִי אֶת-יָדִי עָלֶיךָ וּנְתַתִּיךָֽ (לבג) לְבַז לַגּוֹיִם וְהִכְרַתִּיךָ מִן-הָעַמִּים וְהַאֲבַדְתִּיךָ מִן-הָאֲרָצוֹת אַשְׁמִידְךָ וְיָדַעְתָּ כִּֽי-אֲנִי יְהוָֽה׃
Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה יַעַן אֲמֹר מוֹאָב וְשֵׂעִיר הִנֵּה כְּכָֽל-הַגּוֹיִם בֵּית יְהוּדָֽה׃
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the heathen;
לִבְנֵי-קֶדֶם עַל-בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן וּנְתַתִּיהָ לְמֽוֹרָשָׁה לְמַעַן לֹֽא-תִזָּכֵר בְּנֵֽי-עַמּוֹן בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃
Unto the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them in possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations.
לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנְנִי עָלַיִךְ צֹר וְהַעֲלֵיתִי עָלַיִךְ גּוֹיִם רַבִּים כְּהַעֲלוֹת הַיָּם לְגַלָּֽיו׃
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
מִשְׁטַח חֲרָמִים תִּֽהְיֶה בְּתוֹךְ הַיָּם כִּי אֲנִי דִבַּרְתִּי נְאֻם אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה וְהָיְתָה לְבַז לַגּוֹיִֽם׃
It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations.
לָכֵן הִנְנִי מֵבִיא עָלֶיךָ זָרִים עָרִיצֵי גּוֹיִם וְהֵרִיקוּ חַרְבוֹתָם עַל-יְפִי חָכְמָתֶךָ וְחִלְּלוּ יִפְעָתֶֽךָ׃
Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.
כֹּֽה-אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה בְּקַבְּצִי׀ אֶת-בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן-הָֽעַמִּים אֲשֶׁר נָפֹצוּ בָם וְנִקְדַּשְׁתִּי בָם לְעֵינֵי הַגּוֹיִם וְיָֽשְׁבוּ עַל-אַדְמָתָם אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לְעַבְדִּי לְיַעֲקֹֽב׃
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם שְׁמָמָה בְּתוֹךְ׀ אֲרָצוֹת נְשַׁמּוֹת וְעָרֶיהָ בְּתוֹךְ עָרִים מָֽחֳרָבוֹת תִּֽהְיֶיןָ שְׁמָמָה אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה וַהֲפִצֹתִי אֶת-מִצְרַיִם בַּגּוֹיִם וְֽזֵרִיתִים בָּאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.
מִן-הַמַּמְלָכוֹת תִּהְיֶה שְׁפָלָה וְלֹֽא-תִתְנַשֵּׂא עוֹד עַל-הַגּוֹיִם וְהִמְעַטְתִּים לְבִלְתִּי רְדוֹת בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃
It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.
כִּֽי-קָרוֹב יוֹם וְקָרוֹב יוֹם לַֽיהוָה יוֹם עָנָן עֵת גּוֹיִם יִֽהְיֶֽה׃
For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
