וּמִבְּנֵי יֽוֹיָדָע בֶּן-אֶלְיָשִׁיב הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל חָתָן לְסַנְבַלַּט הַחֹֽרֹנִי וָֽאַבְרִיחֵהוּ מֵֽעָלָֽי׃
And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
וּבִמְלוֹאת׀ הַיָּמִים הָאֵלֶּה עָשָׂה הַמֶּלֶךְ לְכָל-הָעָם הַנִּמְצְאִים בְּשׁוּשַׁן הַבִּירָה לְמִגָּדוֹל וְעַד-קָטָן מִשְׁתֶּה שִׁבְעַת יָמִים בַּֽחֲצַר גִּנַּת בִּיתַן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king's palace;
וְנִשְׁמַע פִּתְגָם הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲשֶֽׁר-יַעֲשֶׂה בְּכָל-מַלְכוּתוֹ כִּי רַבָּה הִיא וְכָל-הַנָּשִׁים יִתְּנוּ יְקָר לְבַעְלֵיהֶן לְמִגָּדוֹל וְעַד-קָטָֽן׃
And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his empire, (for it is great,) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.
וַיַּעַשׂ הַמֶּלֶךְ מִשְׁתֶּה גָדוֹל לְכָל-שָׂרָיו וַֽעֲבָדָיו אֵת מִשְׁתֵּה אֶסְתֵּר וַֽהֲנָחָה לַמְּדִינוֹת עָשָׂה וַיִּתֵּן מַשְׂאֵת כְּיַד הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.
וּמָרְדֳּכַי יָדַע אֶת-כָּל-אֲשֶׁר נַֽעֲשָׂה וַיִּקְרַע מָרְדֳּכַי אֶת-בְּגָדָיו וַיִּלְבַּשׁ שַׂק וָאֵפֶר וַיֵּצֵא בְּתוֹךְ הָעִיר וַיִּזְעַק זְעָקָה גְדֹלָה וּמָרָֽה׃
When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
וּבְכָל-מְדִינָה וּמְדִינָה מְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר דְּבַר-הַמֶּלֶךְ וְדָתוֹ מַגִּיעַ אֵבֶל גָּדוֹל לַיְּהוּדִים וְצוֹם וּבְכִי וּמִסְפֵּד שַׂק וָאֵפֶר יֻצַּע לָֽרַבִּֽים׃
And in every province, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
וּמָרְדֳּכַי יָצָא׀ מִלִּפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ בִּלְבוּשׁ מַלְכוּת תְּכֵלֶת וָחוּר וַֽעֲטֶרֶת זָהָב גְּדוֹלָה וְתַכְרִיךְ בּוּץ וְאַרְגָּמָן וְהָעִיר שׁוּשָׁן צָֽהֲלָה וְשָׂמֵֽחָה׃
And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
כִּֽי-גָדוֹל מָרְדֳּכַי בְּבֵית הַמֶּלֶךְ וְשָׁמְעוֹ הוֹלֵךְ בְּכָל-הַמְּדִינוֹת כִּֽי-הָאִישׁ מָרְדֳּכַי הוֹלֵךְ וְגָדֽוֹל׃
For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame went out throughout all the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.
כִּי׀ מָרְדֳּכַי הַיְּהוּדִי מִשְׁנֶה לַמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ וְגָדוֹל לַיְּהוּדִים וְרָצוּי לְרֹב אֶחָיו דֹּרֵשׁ טוֹב לְעַמּוֹ וְדֹבֵר שָׁלוֹם לְכָל-זַרְעֽוֹ׃
For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
וַיְהִי מִקְנֵהוּ שִֽׁבְעַת אַלְפֵי-צֹאן וּשְׁלֹשֶׁת אַלְפֵי גְמַלִּים וַֽחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת צֶֽמֶד-בָּקָר וַֽחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת אֲתוֹנוֹת וַֽעֲבֻדָּה רַבָּה מְאֹד וַֽיְהִי הָאִישׁ הַהוּא גָּדוֹל מִכָּל-בְּנֵי-קֶֽדֶם׃
His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
וְהִנֵּה רוּחַ גְּדוֹלָה בָּאָה׀ מֵעֵבֶר הַמִּדְבָּר וַיִּגַּע בְּאַרְבַּע פִּנּוֹת הַבַּיִת וַיִּפֹּל עַל-הַנְּעָרִים וַיָּמוּתוּ וָאִמָּלְטָה רַק-אֲנִי לְבַדִּי לְהַגִּיד לָֽךְ׃
And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
קָטֹן וְגָדוֹל שָׁם הוּא וְעֶבֶד חָפְשִׁי מֵֽאֲדֹנָֽיו׃
The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.
עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת וְאֵין חֵקֶר נִפְלָאוֹת עַד-אֵין מִסְפָּֽר׃
Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת עַד-אֵין חֵקֶר וְנִפְלָאוֹת עַד-אֵין מִסְפָּֽר׃
Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
יַרְעֵם אֵל בְּקוֹלוֹ נִפְלָאוֹת עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת וְלֹא נֵדָֽע׃
God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
יַכְרֵת יְהוָה כָּל-שִׂפְתֵי חֲלָקוֹת לָשׁוֹן מְדַבֶּרֶת גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃
The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
גָּדוֹל כְּבוֹדוֹ בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ הוֹד וְהָדָר תְּשַׁוֶּה עָלָֽיו׃
His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
כִּֽי-יְהוָה עֶלְיוֹן נוֹרָא מֶלֶךְ גָּדוֹל עַל-כָּל-הָאָֽרֶץ׃
For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
גָּדוֹל יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד בְּעִיר אֱלֹהֵינוּ הַר-קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
כִּֽי-גָדֹל עַד-שָׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ וְֽעַד-שְׁחָקִים אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
וְצִדְקָתְךָ אֱלֹהִים עַד-מָרוֹם אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂיתָ גְדֹלוֹת אֱלֹהִים מִי כָמֽוֹךָ׃
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!
נוֹדָע בִּֽיהוּדָה אֱלֹהִים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל גָּדוֹל שְׁמֽוֹ׃
In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
אֱלֹהִים בַּקֹּדֶשׁ דַּרְכֶּךָ מִי-אֵל גָּדוֹל כֵּֽאלֹהִֽים׃
Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
כִּֽי-גָדוֹל אַתָּה וְעֹשֵׂה נִפְלָאוֹת אַתָּה אֱלֹהִים לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃
For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.
כִּֽי-חַסְדְּךָ גָּדוֹל עָלָי וְהִצַּלְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִשְּׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּיָּֽה׃
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
כִּי אֵל גָּדוֹל יְהוָה וּמֶלֶךְ גָּדוֹל עַל-כָּל-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
כִּי גָדוֹל יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד נוֹרָא הוּא עַל-כָּל-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
יְהוָה בְּצִיּוֹן גָּדוֹל וְרָם הוּא עַל-כָּל-הָֽעַמִּֽים׃
The LORD is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
יוֹדוּ שִׁמְךָ גָּדוֹל וְנוֹרָא קָדוֹשׁ הֽוּא׃
Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.
זֶה׀ הַיָּם גָּדוֹל וּרְחַב יָדָיִם שָֽׁם-רֶמֶשׂ וְאֵין מִסְפָּר חַיּוֹת קְטַנּוֹת עִם-גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃
So is this great and wide sea, wherein are things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
שָׁכְחוּ אֵל מוֹשִׁיעָם עֹשֶׂה גְדֹלוֹת בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃
They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
כִּֽי-גָדוֹל מֵֽעַל-שָׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ וְֽעַד-שְׁחָקִים אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃
For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.
גְּדֹלִים מַעֲשֵׂי יְהוָה דְּרוּשִׁים לְכָל-חֶפְצֵיהֶֽם׃
The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
יְבָרֵךְ יִרְאֵי יְהוָה הַקְּטַנִּים עִם-הַגְּדֹלִֽים׃
He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
יְהוָה׀ לֹא-גָבַהּ לִבִּי וְלֹא-רָמוּ עֵינַי וְלֹֽא-הִלַּכְתִּי׀ בִּגְדֹלוֹת וּבְנִפְלָאוֹת מִמֶּֽנִּי׃
LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
כִּי אֲנִי יָדַעְתִּי כִּי-גָדוֹל יְהוָה וַאֲדֹנֵינוּ מִכָּל-אֱלֹהִֽים׃
For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
לְעֹשֵׂה נִפְלָאוֹת גְּדֹלוֹת לְבַדּוֹ כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.
לְעֹשֵׂה אוֹרִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:
לְמַכֵּה מְלָכִים גְּדֹלִים כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:
וְיָשִׁירוּ בְּדַרְכֵי יְהוָה כִּֽי-גָדוֹל כְּבוֹד יְהוָֽה׃
Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.
גָּדוֹל יְהוָה וּמְהֻלָּל מְאֹד וְלִגְדֻלָּתוֹ אֵין חֵֽקֶר׃
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
חַנּוּן וְרַחוּם יְהוָה אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם וּגְדָל-חָֽסֶד׃
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
גָּדוֹל אֲדוֹנֵינוּ וְרַב-כֹּחַ לִתְבוּנָתוֹ אֵין מִסְפָּֽר׃
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
מַתָּן אָדָם יַרְחִיב לוֹ וְלִפְנֵי גְדֹלִים יַנְחֶֽנּוּ׃
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
אַל-תִּתְהַדַּר לִפְנֵי-מֶלֶךְ וּבִמְקוֹם גְּדֹלִים אַֽל-תַּעֲמֹֽד׃
Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:
מְבָרֵךְ רֵעֵהוּ׀ בְּקוֹל גָּדוֹל בַּבֹּקֶר הַשְׁכֵּים קְלָלָה תֵּחָשֶׁב לֽוֹ׃
He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
גַּם-זֹה רָאִיתִי חָכְמָה תַּחַת הַשָּׁמֶשׁ וּגְדוֹלָה הִיא אֵלָֽי׃
This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
עִיר קְטַנָּה וַאֲנָשִׁים בָּהּ מְעָט וּבָֽא-אֵלֶיהָ מֶלֶךְ גָּדוֹל וְסָבַב אֹתָהּ וּבָנָה עָלֶיהָ מְצוֹדִים גְּדֹלִֽים׃
There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
אִם-רוּחַ הַמּוֹשֵׁל תַּעֲלֶה עָלֶיךָ מְקוֹמְךָ אַל-תַּנַּח כִּי מַרְפֵּא יַנִּיחַ חֲטָאִים גְּדוֹלִֽים׃
If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.
בְּאָזְנָי יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת אִם-לֹא בָּתִּים רַבִּים לְשַׁמָּה יִֽהְיוּ גְּדֹלִים וְטוֹבִים מֵאֵין יוֹשֵֽׁב׃
In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלַי קַח-לְךָ גִּלָּיוֹן גָּדוֹל וּכְתֹב עָלָיו בְּחֶרֶט אֱנוֹשׁ לְמַהֵר שָׁלָל חָשׁ בַּֽז׃
Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
הָעָם הַהֹלְכִים בַּחֹשֶׁךְ רָאוּ אוֹר גָּדוֹל יֹשְׁבֵי בְּאֶרֶץ צַלְמָוֶת אוֹר נָגַהּ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
צַהֲלִי וָרֹנִּי יוֹשֶׁבֶת צִיּוֹן כִּֽי-גָדוֹל בְּקִרְבֵּךְ קְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
וְהָיָה׀ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִתָּקַע בְּשׁוֹפָר גָּדוֹל וּבָאוּ הָאֹֽבְדִים בְּאֶרֶץ אַשּׁוּר וְהַנִּדָּחִים בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וְהִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לַיהוָה בְּהַר הַקֹּדֶשׁ בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
מֵעִם יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת תִּפָּקֵד בְּרַעַם וּבְרַעַשׁ וְקוֹל גָּדוֹל סוּפָה וּסְעָרָה וְלַהַב אֵשׁ אוֹכֵלָֽה׃
Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.
חֶרֶב לַיהוָה מָלְאָה דָם הֻדַּשְׁנָה מֵחֵלֶב מִדַּם כָּרִים וְעַתּוּדִים מֵחֵלֶב כִּלְיוֹת אֵילִים כִּי זֶבַח לַֽיהוָה בְּבָצְרָה וְטֶבַח גָּדוֹל בְּאֶרֶץ אֱדֽוֹם׃
The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם רַב-שָׁקֵה אִמְרוּ-נָא אֶל-חִזְקִיָּהוּ כֹּֽה-אָמַר הַמֶּלֶךְ הַגָּדוֹל מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר מָה הַבִּטָּחוֹן הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר בָּטָֽחְתָּ׃
And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
וַֽיַּעֲמֹד רַב-שָׁקֵה וַיִּקְרָא בְקוֹל-גָּדוֹל יְהוּדִית וַיֹּאמֶר שִׁמְעוּ אֶת-דִּבְרֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ הַגָּדוֹל מֶלֶךְ אַשּֽׁוּר׃
Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
וַיֹּאמַר אָנָּה יְהוָה זְכָר-נָא אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִתְהַלַּכְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ בֶּֽאֱמֶת וּבְלֵב שָׁלֵם וְהַטּוֹב בְּעֵינֶיךָ עָשִׂיתִי וַיֵּבְךְּ חִזְקִיָּהוּ בְּכִי גָדֽוֹל׃
And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
בְּרֶגַע קָטֹן עֲזַבְתִּיךְ וּבְרַחֲמִים גְּדֹלִים אֲקַבְּצֵֽךְ׃
For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
אֵתָיוּ אֶקְחָה-יַיִן וְנִסְבְּאָה שֵׁכָר וְהָיָה כָזֶה יוֹם מָחָר גָּדוֹל יֶתֶר מְאֹֽד׃
Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.
שְׂאוּ-נֵס צִיּוֹנָה הָעִיזוּ אַֽל-תַּעֲמֹדוּ כִּי רָעָה אָנֹכִי מֵבִיא מִצָּפוֹן וְשֶׁבֶר גָּדֽוֹל׃
Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
אֵֽלֲכָה-לִּי אֶל-הַגְּדֹלִים וַאֲדַבְּרָה אוֹתָם כִּי הֵמָּה יָדְעוּ דֶּרֶךְ יְהוָה מִשְׁפַּט אֱלֹהֵיהֶם אַךְ הֵמָּה יַחְדָּו שָׁבְרוּ עֹל נִתְּקוּ מוֹסֵרֽוֹת׃
I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.
הָעִזוּ׀ בְּנֵי בִניָמִן מִקֶּרֶב יְרוּשָׁלִַם וּבִתְקוֹעַ תִּקְעוּ שׁוֹפָר וְעַל-בֵּית הַכֶּרֶם שְׂאוּ מַשְׂאֵת כִּי רָעָה נִשְׁקְפָה מִצָּפוֹן וְשֶׁבֶר גָּדֽוֹל׃
O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Beth-haccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.
כִּי מִקְּטַנָּם וְעַד-גְּדוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ בּוֹצֵעַ בָּצַע וּמִנָּבִיא וְעַד-כֹּהֵן כֻּלּוֹ עֹשֶׂה שָּֽׁקֶר׃
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה הִנֵּה עַם בָּא מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן וְגוֹי גָּדוֹל יֵעוֹר מִיַּרְכְּתֵי-אָֽרֶץ׃
Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.
לָכֵן אֶתֵּן אֶת-נְשֵׁיהֶם לַאֲחֵרִים שְׂדֽוֹתֵיהֶם לְיוֹרְשִׁים כִּי מִקָּטֹן וְעַד-גָּדוֹל כֻּלֹּה בֹּצֵעַ בָּצַע מִנָּבִיא וְעַד-כֹּהֵן כֻּלֹּה עֹשֶׂה שָּֽׁקֶר׃
Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.
מֵאֵין כָּמוֹךָ יְהוָה גָּדוֹל אַתָּה וְגָדוֹל שִׁמְךָ בִּגְבוּרָֽה׃
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
קוֹל שְׁמוּעָה הִנֵּה בָאָה וְרַעַשׁ גָּדוֹל מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן לָשׂוּם אֶת-עָרֵי יְהוּדָה שְׁמָמָה מְעוֹן תַּנִּֽים׃
Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
זַיִת רַֽעֲנָן יְפֵה פְרִי-תֹאַר קָרָא יְהוָה שְׁמֵךְ לְקוֹל׀ הֲמוּלָּה גְדֹלָה הִצִּית אֵשׁ עָלֶיהָ וְרָעוּ דָּלִיּוֹתָֽיו׃
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם אֶת-הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה תֵּרַדְנָה עֵינַי דִּמְעָה לַיְלָה וְיוֹמָם וְאַל-תִּדְמֶינָה כִּי שֶׁבֶר גָּדוֹל נִשְׁבְּרָה בְּתוּלַת בַּת-עַמִּי מַכָּה נַחְלָה מְאֹֽד׃
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
וּמֵתוּ גְדֹלִים וּקְטַנִּים בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת לֹא יִקָּבֵרוּ וְלֹֽא-יִסְפְּדוּ לָהֶם וְלֹא יִתְגֹּדַד וְלֹא יִקָּרֵחַ לָהֶֽם׃
Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
וְהָיָה כִּי תַגִּיד לָעָם הַזֶּה אֵת כָּל-הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וְאָמְרוּ אֵלֶיךָ עַל-מֶה דִבֶּר יְהוָה עָלֵינוּ אֵת כָּל-הָרָעָה הַגְּדוֹלָה הַזֹּאת וּמֶה עֲוֹנֵנוּ וּמֶה חַטָּאתֵנוּ אֲשֶׁר חָטָאנוּ לַֽיהוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
וְנִלְחַמְתִּי אֲנִי אִתְּכֶם בְּיָד נְטוּיָה וּבִזְרוֹעַ חֲזָקָה וּבְאַף וּבְחֵמָה וּבְקֶצֶף גָּדֽוֹל׃
And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath.
וְהִכֵּיתִי אֶת-יֽוֹשְׁבֵי הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְאֶת-הָאָדָם וְאֶת-הַבְּהֵמָה בְּדֶבֶר גָּדוֹל יָמֻֽתוּ׃
And I will smite the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
וְעָֽבְרוּ גּוֹיִם רַבִּים עַל הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְאָֽמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל-רֵעֵהוּ עַל-מֶה עָשָׂה יְהוָה כָּכָה לָעִיר הַגְּדוֹלָה הַזֹּֽאת׃
And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?
כִּי עָֽבְדוּ-בָם גַּם-הֵמָּה גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וּמְלָכִים גְּדוֹלִים וְשִׁלַּמְתִּי לָהֶם כְּפָעֳלָם וּכְמַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵיהֶֽם׃
For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת הִנֵּה רָעָה יֹצֵאת מִגּוֹי אֶל-גּוֹי וְסַעַר גָּדוֹל יֵעוֹר מִיַּרְכְּתֵי-אָֽרֶץ׃
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
הֶהָמֵת הֱמִתֻהוּ חִזְקִיָּהוּ מֶֽלֶךְ-יְהוּדָה וְכָל-יְהוּדָה הֲלֹא יָרֵא אֶת-יְהוָה וַיְחַל אֶת-פְּנֵי יְהוָה וַיִּנָּחֶם יְהוָה אֶל-הָרָעָה אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר עֲלֵיהֶם וַאֲנַחְנוּ עֹשִׂים רָעָה גְדוֹלָה עַל-נַפְשׁוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
אָנֹכִי עָשִׂיתִי אֶת-הָאָרֶץ אֶת-הָאָדָם וְאֶת-הַבְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר עַל-פְּנֵי הָאָרֶץ בְּכֹחִי הַגָּדוֹל וּבִזְרוֹעִי הַנְּטוּיָה וּנְתַתִּיהָ לַאֲשֶׁר יָשַׁר בְּעֵינָֽי׃
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.
וְעָבְדוּ אֹתוֹ כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם וְאֶת-בְּנוֹ וְאֶֽת-בֶּן-בְּנוֹ עַד בֹּא-עֵת אַרְצוֹ גַּם-הוּא וְעָבְדוּ בוֹ גּוֹיִם רַבִּים וּמְלָכִים גְּדֹלִֽים׃
And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.
הַנְּבִיאִים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ לְפָנַי וּלְפָנֶיךָ מִן-הָֽעוֹלָם וַיִּנָּבְאוּ אֶל-אֲרָצוֹת רַבּוֹת וְעַל-מַמְלָכוֹת גְּדֹלוֹת לְמִלְחָמָה וּלְרָעָה וּלְדָֽבֶר׃
The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.
הוֹי כִּי גָדוֹל הַיּוֹם הַהוּא מֵאַיִן כָּמֹהוּ וְעֵֽת-צָרָה הִיא לְיַֽעֲקֹב וּמִמֶּנָּה יִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃
Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
הִנְנִי מֵבִיא אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ צָפוֹן וְקִבַּצְתִּים מִיַּרְכְּתֵי-אָרֶץ בָּם עִוֵּר וּפִסֵּחַ הָרָה וְיֹלֶדֶת יַחְדָּו קָהָל גָּדוֹל יָשׁוּבוּ הֵֽנָּה׃
Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
וְלֹא יְלַמְּדוּ עוֹד אִישׁ אֶת-רֵעֵהוּ וְאִישׁ אֶת-אָחִיו לֵאמֹר דְּעוּ אֶת-יְהוָה כִּֽי-כוּלָּם יֵדְעוּ אוֹתִי לְמִקְטַנָּם וְעַד-גְּדוֹלָם נְאֻם-יְהוָה כִּי אֶסְלַח לַֽעֲוֹנָם וּלְחַטָּאתָם לֹא אֶזְכָּר-עֽוֹד׃
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
אֲהָהּ אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנֵּה׀ אַתָּה עָשִׂיתָ אֶת-הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת-הָאָרֶץ בְּכֹֽחֲךָ הַגָּדוֹל וּבִֽזְרֹעֲךָ הַנְּטוּיָה לֹֽא-יִפָּלֵא מִמְּךָ כָּל-דָּבָֽר׃
Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
עֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד לַֽאֲלָפִים וּמְשַׁלֵּם עֲוֹן אָבוֹת אֶל-חֵיק בְּנֵיהֶם אַחֲרֵיהֶם הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל הַגִּבּוֹר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת שְׁמֽוֹ׃
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,
גְּדֹל הָֽעֵצָה וְרַב הָעֲלִֽילִיָּה אֲשֶׁר-עֵינֶיךָ פְקֻחוֹת עַל-כָּל-דַּרְכֵי בְּנֵי אָדָם לָתֵת לְאִישׁ כִּדְרָכָיו וְכִפְרִי מַעֲלָלָֽיו׃
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
וַתֹּצֵא אֶת-עַמְּךָ אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם בְּאֹתוֹת וּבְמוֹפְתִים וּבְיָד חֲזָקָה וּבְאֶזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה וּבְמוֹרָא גָּדֽוֹל׃
And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;
הִנְנִי מְקַבְּצָם מִכָּל-הָאֲרָצוֹת אֲשֶׁר הִדַּחְתִּים שָׁם בְּאַפִּי וּבַחֲמָתִי וּבְקֶצֶף גָּדוֹל וַהֲשִֽׁבֹתִים אֶל-הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וְהֹשַׁבְתִּים לָבֶֽטַח׃
Behold, I will gather out them of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:
כִּֽי-כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה כַּאֲשֶׁר הֵבֵאתִי אֶל-הָעָם הַזֶּה אֵת כָּל-הָרָעָה הַגְּדוֹלָה הַזֹּאת כֵּן אָנֹכִי מֵבִיא עֲלֵיהֶם אֶת-כָּל-הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי דֹּבֵר עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.
קְרָא אֵלַי וְאֶעֱנֶךָּ וְאַגִּידָה לְּךָ גְּדֹלוֹת וּבְצֻרוֹת לֹא יְדַעְתָּֽם׃
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
אוּלַי תִּפֹּל תְּחִנָּתָם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וְיָשֻׁבוּ אִישׁ מִדַּרְכּוֹ הָרָעָה כִּֽי-גָדוֹל הָאַף וְהַחֵמָה אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל-הָעָם הַזֶּֽה׃
It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
וַֽיִּגְּשׁוּ כָּל-שָׂרֵי הַחֲיָלִים וְיֽוֹחָנָן בֶּן-קָרֵחַ וִֽיזַנְיָה בֶּן-הוֹשַֽׁעְיָה וְכָל-הָעָם מִקָּטֹן וְעַד-גָּדֽוֹל׃
Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near,
וַיִּקְרָא אֶל-יֽוֹחָנָן בֶּן-קָרֵחַ וְאֶל כָּל-שָׂרֵי הַחֲיָלִים אֲשֶׁר אִתּוֹ וּלְכָל-הָעָם לְמִקָּטֹן וְעַד-גָּדֽוֹל׃
Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
קַח בְּיָדְךָ אֲבָנִים גְּדֹלוֹת וּטְמַנְתָּם בַּמֶּלֶט בַּמַּלְבֵּן אֲשֶׁר בְּפֶתַח בֵּית-פַּרְעֹה בְּתַחְפַּנְחֵס לְעֵינֵי אֲנָשִׁים יְהוּדִֽים׃
Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;
וְעַתָּה כֹּֽה-אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לָמָה אַתֶּם עֹשִׂים רָעָה גְדוֹלָה אֶל-נַפְשֹׁתֵכֶם לְהַכְרִית לָכֶם אִישׁ-וְאִשָּׁה עוֹלֵל וְיוֹנֵק מִתּוֹךְ יְהוּדָה לְבִלְתִּי הוֹתִיר לָכֶם שְׁאֵרִֽית׃
Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;
וְלָקַחְתִּי אֶת-שְׁאֵרִית יְהוּדָה אֲשֶׁר-שָׂמוּ פְנֵיהֶם לָבוֹא אֶֽרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם לָגוּר שָׁם וְתַמּוּ כֹל בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם יִפֹּלוּ בַּחֶרֶב בָּֽרָעָב יִתַּמּוּ מִקָּטֹן וְעַד-גָּדוֹל בַּחֶרֶב וּבָרָעָב יָמֻתוּ וְהָיוּ לְאָלָה לְשַׁמָּה וְלִקְלָלָה וּלְחֶרְפָּֽה׃
And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.
וַיַּעֲנוּ אֶֽת-יִרְמְיָהוּ כָּל-הָאֲנָשִׁים הַיֹּֽדְעִים כִּֽי-מְקַטְּרוֹת נְשֵׁיהֶם לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וְכָל-הַנָּשִׁים הָעֹמְדוֹת קָהָל גָּדוֹל וְכָל-הָעָם הַיֹּשְׁבִים בְּאֶֽרֶץ-מִצְרַיִם בְּפַתְרוֹס לֵאמֹֽר׃
Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
