Μηδεὶς ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω κενοῖς λόγοις· διὰ ταῦτα γὰρ ἔρχεται ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῆς ἀπειθείας
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
אֶֽת-חֻקֹּתַי תִּשְׁמֹרוּ בְּהֶמְתְּךָ לֹֽא-תַרְבִּיעַ כִּלְאַיִם שָֽׂדְךָ לֹֽא-תִזְרַע כִּלְאָיִם וּבֶגֶד כִּלְאַיִם שַֽׁעַטְנֵז לֹא יַֽעֲלֶה עָלֶֽיךָ׃
Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
לֹא-יָשַׁבְתִּי עִם-מְתֵי-שָׁוְא וְעִם נַעֲלָמִים לֹא אָבֽוֹא׃
I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.
Ὑμεῖς δὲ γένος ἐκλεκτόν βασίλειον ἱεράτευμα ἔθνος ἅγιον λαὸς εἰς περιποίησιν ὅπως τὰς ἀρετὰς ἐξαγγείλητε τοῦ ἐκ σκότους ὑμᾶς καλέσαντος εἰς τὸ θαυμαστὸν αὐτοῦ φῶς·
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of who hath him called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
לֹֽא-תִזְרַע כַּרְמְךָ כִּלְאָיִם פֶּן-תִּקְדַּשׁ הַֽמְלֵאָה הַזֶּרַע אֲשֶׁר תִּזְרָע וּתְבוּאַת הַכָּֽרֶם׃
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled.
הֲלֽוֹא-מְשַׂנְאֶיךָ יְהוָה׀ אֶשְׂנָא וּבִתְקוֹמְמֶיךָ אֶתְקוֹטָֽט׃
Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
Τοῦτο οὖν λέγω καὶ μαρτύρομαι ἐν κυρίῳ μηκέτι ὑμᾶς περιπατεῖν καθὼς καὶ τὰ λοιπὰ ἔθνη περιπατεῖ ἐν ματαιότητι τοῦ νοὸς αὐτῶν
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
ὑμεῖς δέ ἀδελφοί οὐκ ἐστὲ ἐν σκότει ἵνα ἡ ἡμέρα ὑμᾶς ὡς κλέπτης καταλάβῃ·
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Ἔγραψα ὑμῖν ἐν τῇ ἐπιστολῇ μὴ συναναμίγνυσθαι πόρνοις
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
וַיִּתְעָרְבוּ בַגּוֹיִם וַֽיִּלְמְדוּ מַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶֽם׃
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
וּנְתָנָם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְפָנֶיךָ וְהִכִּיתָם הַֽחֲרֵם תַּֽחֲרִים אֹתָם לֹֽא-תִכְרֹת לָהֶם בְּרִית וְלֹא תְחָנֵּֽם׃
And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
וַיִּגַּשׁ אֵֽלִיָּהוּ אֶל-כָּל-הָעָם וַיֹּאמֶר עַד-מָתַי אַתֶּם פֹּֽסְחִים עַל-שְׁתֵּי הַסְּעִפִּים אִם-יְהוָה הָֽאֱלֹהִים לְכוּ אַֽחֲרָיו וְאִם-הַבַּעַל לְכוּ אַֽחֲרָיו וְלֹֽא-עָנוּ הָעָם אֹתוֹ דָּבָֽר׃
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
אַל-תִּתְרַע אֶת-בַּעַל אָף וְאֶת-אִישׁ חֵמוֹת לֹא תָבֽוֹא׃
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
תּוֹעֲבַת צַדִּיקִים אִישׁ עָוֶל וְתוֹעֲבַת רָשָׁע יְשַׁר-דָּֽרֶךְ׃
An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
בָּגְדָה יְהוּדָה וְתוֹעֵבָה נֶעֶשְׂתָה בְיִשְׂרָאֵל וּבִירֽוּשָׁלִָם כִּי׀ חִלֵּל יְהוּדָה קֹדֶשׁ יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר אָהֵב וּבָעַל בַּת-אֵל נֵכָֽר׃
Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
Εἰ ὁ κόσμος ὑμᾶς μισεῖ γινώσκετε ὅτι ἐμὲ πρῶτον ὑμῶν μεμίσηκεν
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
ἵνα γένησθε ἄμεμπτοι καὶ ἀκέραιοι τέκνα θεοῦ ἀμώμητα ἐν μέσῳ γενεᾶς σκολιᾶς καὶ διεστραμμένης ἐν οἷς φαίνεσθε ὡς φωστῆρες ἐν κόσμῳ
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
